Video: Ben Carson Is OK w/ Trump Calling Him Child Molester: “You Have to Admit, It Worked”

WTF?

Video

Here’s a frankly amazing statement from creationist former candidate Ben Carson, who says he completely understands why Donald Trump compared him to a “child molester” — because it worked.

Carson said, “You have to admit to a degree that it did work.” He continued, “A lot of people believed him.”

You know, I think there really is something wrong with Dr. Sleepy.

I mean, the ends have absolutely and completely justified the means for the GOP for a long, long time.

As usual, the only amazing thing about a Carson statement is that he made it outside of a barred conference room.

He said he was offered a place in a Trump administration for his support. Normally that would be newsworthy since it’s illegal, but since Trump did it the media’s just fine with it.

Single issue expert. That’s all Carson ever was. And now he’s more than willing to lie down with a rabid dog in Trump. The GOP deserves all this.

We, as a nation, don’t. And the way that we avoid this is to make sure the GOP lose control of Congress and don’t win the WH.

And we keep the GOP in the minority thereafter by continuing to vote GOPers out of office.

That is the future the GOP deserves. And that’s the future the nation deserves.

When you pose candidates who are batcrap insane, you lose all right to run the nation.

Backwoods_Sleuth  Mar 16, 2016 • 1:08:06pm

While not the greatest of sources, there’s also this…

In an interview with Newsmax:

“Basically, we both have the same goal, and that is to save America for the next generation. We agreed that in some capacity that we’d be working together to do that,” Carson said in a phone interview Wednesday morning.

“People want to take that and make it into a quid pro quo. But it’s not a quid pro quo by any stretch of the imagination — nor would I ever ask such a thing. That’s enhancement of what I said,” Carson said, adding that it’s “absolutely” false for anyone to say he endorsed Trump in return for any such position.

The response came after Carson told NewsmaxTV host Steve Malzberg that he didn’t want to “reveal any details” about a spot in Trump’s possible administration and that the real estate mogul wasn’t his first choice, pointing to other “scenario’s” in the race that are no longer available. The famed neurosurgeon told the Examiner that the other scenario he was looking for was for himself to become president.

“Is there another scenario that I would have preferred? Yes, but that scenario isn’t available,” Carson told the host, responding in the affirmative when asked if he was referring to another candidate.

“I will be doing things as well… Certainly in an advisory capacity [in Trump’s administration],” Carson said of a possible spot in an administration. “We haven’t handled out all the details but it is very important that we work together in this country… Again, I’m not going to reveal any details about it right now because all of this is still very liquid.”

A member of the Republican National Committee’s Rules Committee said Wednesday that the party will decide who the GOP nominee will be, not the voters.

“The media has created the perception that the voters will decide the nomination,” Curly Haugland said in an interview with CNBC. “That’s the conflict here.”

“The political parties choose their nominees, not the general public, contrary to popular belief,” he added.

Haugland was then asked what the point of holding primaries is if the party can disregard the will of the voters.

“That’s a very good question,” he responded.

“It’s gonna hurt a lot, but you’ll be better! You’ll see! Ha Ha HA HA!”

— Anonymous Mad Dok

An Ork Painboy, also known as a Mad Dok, is a member of a special class of Ork Oddboy who are responsible for fixing injuries even the highly regenerative Ork physiology cannot repair, such as severed limbs and brain damage. They use “Stabby Bits” as their medical tools. An Ork will only go to a Painboy when he has no other choice, as these Oddboyz are infamous for trying out experimental procedures (such as the greatly feared Squig brain transplant) on patients while they are under anesthesia (known as a “concussion” to other intelligent races). Painboyz are responsible for attaching crude bionics to Ork patients that have been created by the Mekboyz, although sometimes they are not paying attention and replace the wrong part of the patient’s body. This is often distressing to a patient who is the lucky recipient of an exploding leg, especially if it was his arm that needed attention.

Obama considers it his job to fill the seat. And it sounds like, for the most part, that Garland is moderate. But also consider this possibility. What if Trump won, god forbid? We’d want that seat filled by an Obama nominee.

I strongly suspect there is some truth to this story. The GOP is looking down the gun at a Trump nomination and general election run, which polls are beginning to show will devastate their chances at the White House and keeping their Senate majority. So taking a moderate nominee in the lame duck seems like their only realistic chance at this stage to avoid Clinton or Sanders putting much more liberal justice on the bench.

The unelected delegate are the ones we call superdelegates. The fact that they stayed out for so long kind of contradicts the idea that they helped choose.

It always takes me a couple of seconds to get adjusted to the Wikipedia page on this years democratic primary because they call them unelected delegates.

Here’s a suggestion for the President: Go out tomorrow and say he’s given it some thought and decided he’ll meet the GOP halfway on their obstruction. He’ll respect their belief that “the People” should get a say in who should be the next SCOTUS justice, but the Senate will henceforth abandon “advise and consent.” After all, if the argument that a President being elected means “the People” have had a say in the makeup of the SCOTUS bench, then there’s no need for the Senate to weigh in on nominees because they have already been approved by “the People.”

Anti-choice fanatics squash bill that would allow parents to relieve the pain of their suffering children.

Late maneuvering in Senate blocks cannabidiol measure

A bill to help anguished parents get a child seizure treatment failed to get a vote amid Tuesday’s hastily adjourned Senate session, even though a strong majority of senators support the proposal.

Three top GOP senators successfully blocked the bill, which would have made it easier to get a drug that is derived from marijuana and used to treat children who suffer from severe seizures and have few other medical options. Snip…

Fitzgerald said that three Republicans, Senate President Mary Lazich of New Berlin and Sens. Duey Stroebel of Cedarburg and Leah Vukmir of Wauwatosa, had adamantly opposed the bill out of concerns it could lead to the legalization of marijuana in Wisconsin. Stroebel confirmed his opposition Wednesday but otherwise the three had no comment.

When Jill Stein ran for Mass. governor in 2010, she got 32,895 votes.
In 2014, even certified nutcase Scott Lively got 19,378.

The unelected delegate are the ones we call superdelegates. The fact that they stayed out for so long kind of contradicts the idea that they helped choose.

(I haven’t actually read the book)

The idea is that party actors set things into motion so that superdelegates never actually matter — they exist only as a check on the power of the primary voters, to keep wholly unelectable individuals from winning a nomination. Before that, they put the limelight on a candidate, or a few candidates, that seem palatable.

It’s also incorrect to think of the party as a monolithic institution. Indeed, Obama came from within the party. A bloc of powerful actors helped him achieve national recognition within the Democratic party, and Obama used this recognition to put his candidacy together and make it more viable.

What 2008 definitely did not have was a Trump or Sanders sort of outsider figure who tried to crash the party (both figuratively and literally). From start to finish, it was either Clinton or Obama, both figures selected and vetted by the Dem establishment. Which one won wasn’t super critical, but the winnowing of the proverbial 17-candidate field had already taken place.

From wikipedia:

Council communism (also councilism) is a current of socialist thought that emerged in the 1920s. Inspired by the November Revolution, councilism was characterized by its opposition to state capitalism/state socialism and its advocacy of workers’ councils as the basis for dismantling the class state.

OK. I will grant that view. Joe Blow off the street will never be president. It will have to be someone part of the political system. And the candidates that do run are self-selected, and possibly at some level have to have some support from inside the party.

But, to tell you the truth, I’m OK with that. I certainly don’t want my neurosurgeon to be someone off the street, or, it seems, someone who might want to run for president. And I think there’s some things you have to learn to be a good politician and therefore a good president.

I was focused rather narrowly, on the idea that they basically say “This one is our candidate.” At the beginning of the nomination process, Clinton looked like she was the choice of the insiders.

Candidates coming from outside the system aren’t entirely unusually, though it tends to be more common on the GOP side lately. Arnold would have never been able to win a contested Republican primary for Governor, even in California. But the recall process allowed him to bypass the normal party operation. Trump is definitely from outside the party and is acting like a rabid wolverine on LSD now that he’s in the tent. And every cycle there tends to be at least one or two candidates (particularly on the GOP side) who try to run without any real political experience.

But the truth is, when you’re talking about the presidency or the governor’s office in a big state, most voters aren’t going to support someone who has no political experience. Which is why presidents tend to be vice presidents, senators, or governors before they become president.

A spokesman for the nation’s only Latina governor on Wednesday said only that Martinez is proud to have stood by Rubio and will continue to watch the GOP primary race as it unfolds.

Martinez has repeatedly declined to say whether she would vote for GOP primary front-runner Donald Trump if he wins the nomination. She previously denounced Trump when he compared Mexican immigrants to rapists and drug dealers.

Martinez is the chairwoman of the Republican Governors Association, a fundraising arm of the GOP.

The Tea Party/Trump base are pissed at McCain because reasons. Latest poll shows him under 50% in the primary but with 39% undecided. Kirkpatrick is probably the Democratic nominee and the same poll shows 38-37 for McCain. The poll was taken in January and I’ve never actually heard of the group that took it, so don’t know how trustworthy it is. The same thing happened to McCain in 2010, but he overcame it and won again handily (he won 56% in the primary against JD Hayworth and then took nearly 60% in the general).

There wasn’t the same level of politics in LA was there? The fact that Flint was taken up by Hillary and then Bernie and you had political gadfly Micheal Moore going on TV and taking Republican Gov. Pope fired his ambassador to the US.

Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò is a staunch conservative and was vocally opposed to same-sex marriage throughout his five-year tenure as the Vatican’s nuncio (ambassador) to the United States.

He also sent an anonymous invite to Ms. Kim Davis, of anti-equality fame, to the Pope’s DC visit. While people, here and elsewhere, initially thought this was a coup for Davis and bigotry, Pope Francis turned the other cheek.

And now word comes that the incident is prompting The Vatican to replace Vigano. A friend of the Pope’s claimed he was blindsided by the meeting, and the move caused the Vatican to distance itself from Viganò, leading many to believe the Pope would quietly replace him as his “statutory retirement age” was approaching. Viganò turned 75 in January; when bishops and archbishops reach that age, they are required to submit a letter of resignation to the Vatican.

She’s termed out in 2018, so maybe she’ll have the freedom to do it. Plus she was famously a Democrat until the mid-90s. She’s a former prosecutor, might be good enough to get a judicial appointment from Clinton (which also serves to keep her out of the 2020 contest if the GOP decides losing three in a row is grounds for being more reasonable in their choices).

Some folks on twitter mounted a whole campaign against the telescope, with big bad Western-colonial science oppressing a poor indigenous minority that just doesn’t want anything built on their sacred mountain and everybody must apparently respect their religious feelings. Of course, religion being arbitrary, anyone can declare any place sacred.

So you would have no compunction about stepping all over the sacred grounds of another religion? That’s a bit unkind. You don’t have to be a believer to respect the ways of others. And US history there has been unkind to the natives to say the least. And orbit never runs out of space for telescopes.

Yes, an arbitrarily defined “sacred space” - which is not something man-made (like, say, a church) but merely something man-defined (a “holy” mountain) should not take precedence over important secular goals. The place was not chosen arbitrarily, it is one of the few places on Earth where such a telescope can be mounted. So I hope it will eventually be erected, religious feelings notwithstanding.

When gold was $1800, I got into an argument on a watch forum with someone who said it was a good time to buy. Such things can be properly managed, though it takes time, goodwill and mutual respect. We often ran into the sacred doing University of Kentucky archaeology. (It helped that our department head was Cherokee.) You can put a telescope on a sacred mountain if everyone agrees the telescope is sacred.

You know what, I’m tired of the bitching about the Superdelegates. Bernie isn’t some outsider. He in fact entered Congress when Clinton was still Arkansas’s First Lady. He’s had plenty of time to build up relationships and bridges with his Democratic colleagues. If they’re endorsing Clinton in larger numbers than they were her versus Obama eight years ago that they know who they feel they work better with. And honestly if Sanders had more Congressional and Gubertorial endorsements, they wouldn’t be complaining. For all the talk about how the “elites” at the DNC are trying to subvert the will of the people, the vast majority of registered Democrats haev preferred Clinton. Now I differ from some of my fellow Lizards in the sense that I don’t want closed primaries but at the same time, this has to be acknowledged but instead we have to deal with math that shows that yeah Bernie could still win the nomination. Yes, he could. Just as I could still win the lottery but neither are likely.

Racist voters cost Trump two Illinois delegates with ‘foreign’ sounding names

In the 6th Congressional District outside Chicago, two Trump delegates named Paul Minch and Barbara Kois won with more than 35,000 votes each.

A third Trump delegate candidate, Nabi Fakroddin, received just 30,639 votes - which allowed Pat Brady, a Kasich delegate and former state party chairman, to move past him and take the RNC slot.

In the 13th District, a Trump delegate Doug Hartmann won nearly 32,000 votes and two Cruz delegates won nearly 31,000 votes to claim the next two slots.

Raja Sadia, a Trump delegate, garnered just over 24,000 votes.

I’ve been banging on low congressional ratings for a couple years. It does not seem to matter to any single one of them. And the poll ratings have been at their lowest since the GOP took over congress in 2010 and built it up even more in 2014.

Why? No better example of congressional district gerrymandering. When faced with a national viewpoint everyone hates the Republicans but the locals that elected their Republican Rep are just fine with them. It makes no sense, but this is America where too often politics makes no sense.

Where in the Constitution does it say the people have a voice in the nomination of justices for the Supreme Court?

I’ll wait.

Every frickin’ GOPer who makes this idiotic statement has pulled this nonsense out of thin air. [And that includes Toomey, McCain, Ryan, etc.]

There is nothing in the Constitution about giving the people a say.

The president is the only person who nominates for the Supreme Court. There are no limitations or constraints on when the President can nominate. He can nominate on his last day in office or his first - and every day in between. He can be the lame duck or in year 10 of 12 years.

The Senate’s job is to advice and consent.

The GOP has turned that into prevent and obstruct, and that is an unforgiveable choice. It exposes the GOP as being for nothing more than obstructionism. They have no interest in governing or following the Constitution. Refusing even hearings is the giveaway.

Heck, Kasich came out and stated that if it was any other president nominating Merrick that the GOP would consider.

Kasich is a weasel. Brings up how ACA had no Republican voters but doesn’t tell the audience that ACA was basically the Republican response to Clintoncare when John was in Congress. Trump’s $5,000 donation to Protect Our Winters - a nonprofit that mobilizes skiers and snowboarders on the issue - is a surprising entry in the tax forms of the Republican businessman’s nonprofit foundation.

Agreed. I despise Uber and its ilk because they do exploit the hell out of their contractors, but those causes for action are a total joke. Selling one’s soul to Satan is no more ridiculous as a legal claim than bitching about not being reimbursed for damage caused by potholes.

The whole point of Uber’s business model is for the drivers to eat the per mile cost of their driving, often without the drivers realizing it.
