Sarah Palin:

“So thankful for today’s medical technology including 3-D X-rays, temporary pain blocks and epidurals,” Sarah Palin wrote on Facebook. “I’m voting for their continued use until a resting position is found that allows minimal wincing with each breath.”

Palin said that everyone should take Todd’s advice: “don’t sweat the small stuff.”

I wonder if he said that before or after the accident.

Someone needs to ask Trump how his March Madness bracket is doing, he’ll probably say he it is still fully intact.

Rage Furby bet $7,000 on Ted Cruz becoming POTUS? Ted Cruz hasn’t even put that much of his own money on that one.

I just want to enjoy the games and not care about any brackets. This year due to the fact Ohio State isn’t it it, I’m having even more fun because there is no team I am concerned with. I want them all to do well, and overall it has so far been an entertaining tournament.

re: #34 thedopefishlives

I saw a FB meme on Harry Reid that raised a question. Is the Senate Constitutionally obligated to give the nominee an up or down vote?

No. No they are not.

In 2005, the phrase was heard most often from Republicans in the United States, who occupied 55 seats in the United States Senate, and thus lacked the 60 votes required to overcome a filibuster maneuver by the Democratic Senators. Because of this, a united Democratic bloc was able to filibuster any objectionable bill, Presidential appointment, or other matter before the Senate, and prevent passage. If the Republicans were able to bring any particular matter to an “up or down vote”, they would be able to approve that measure if voting as a bloc.

To this end, many Republican-affiliated websites and political action committees had urged voters to demand of their Senators and Representatives an “up or down vote” on various issues. Constitutionally, however, the Senate is not obliged to give any matter an up or down vote.

The GOP were like a flock of parrots where that is all they would say, it became self-parody.

I get confused when training to safely handle a weapon and hit a target gets conflated with the social and perceptual skills that would be required to make a determination of when to discharge your weapon to prevent crime.

This confusion turns to worry when you get these “patriot” and “you should be scared” types braying and posturing. Arrogance and vanity mean attention to an abstraction rather than the immediacy of gun-as-killing-tool. The failure condition is a momentary lapse in judgement…hubris is something that kills you by making your judgement lapse because you except to be correct.

Evening Lizards. The Idaho Legislature and Senate took the the deep dive into the shallow pond

Permitless carry goes to Otter as legislature speeds up at Statehouse

The House suspended its rules Friday and passed the bill to allow Idaho residents age 21 or older to carry concealed guns without a permit inside city limits.

It’s already passed the Senate, so the measure now goes to the governor’s desk.

Odds are Butch (the Gay) Otter will not veto the bill, but will allow it to become law because of his inaction.

There’s more to it than that.

For one, there’s the calculation about anything related to Roe.

Two, there’s the fact that Scalia was the judge that got conservatives what they wanted.

Three, the GOP political machine wants to win more than it wants to follow rules. This is baked-in because so many of their constituent blocs imagine themselves to be heroic True Americans, and everyone else to be duped or malicious. The Religious Right and the Dominionists (mostly but not fully overlapping groups), the nativists, the free market radicals and Koch-style libertarians, the people that cooked up Iran Contra, et cetera. And there’s also the bloc that are just scamming all the other blocs, that fucking love it when they can cheat.
