New Surveillance Video Shows Trump Aide Grabbing Breitbart Reporter as She Claimed

Corey Lewandowski charged with misdemeanor battery
Politics • Views: 56,243

YouTube

Today Donald Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski was charged with battery against former Breitbart “News” reporter Michelle Fields. A newly released surveillance video (above) clearly shows Lewandowski grabbing Fields by the arm and roughly pulling her aside exactly as she claimed.

Remember when Breitbart’s Joel Pollak published an “analysis” that came to the conclusion it couldn’t have been Lewandowski who grabbed Michelle Fields?

This should prove once and for all that Breitbart “News” is nothing but a propaganda outfit, in the tank for Donald Trump, with credibility less than zero.

Infamous troll Chuck C. Johnson (who’s now banned from Facebook for 30 days) also failed massively, claiming his “police sources” revealed to him that Michelle Fields was being “investigated” for filing a false police report. Wrong again, Chuck.

The Trump camp is continuing to deny Lewandowski touched Fields, of course, because that’s what they do. They released a statement saying Lewandowski was not arrested and would be vindicated.

But…

And it gets even worse, because the surveillance video just released was actually in possession of the Trump campaign while they were issuing all their denials.

Meanwhile, Lewandowski’s lawyer is a real prize himself, forced to resign as a US Attorney after biting a stripper.

And of course…

I stand with Corey and Breitbart! This reporter has a long History of making herself the story, like Megan Kelly. I saw the inconclusive video showing Fields lunging at Trump.

If the Cruz campaign is smart, they’ll have Fields front and center at a future rally. Great way to attack Trump if you can pull it off.

Pollak actually admits he was wrong (very narrowly - by the looks of his feed):

Except that the evidence at the outset was still strong enough to suggest an assault occurred. So, on a narrow basis, he admits he was wrong, but somehow the pile of evidence from the outset was insufficient to carry an allegation of assault.

Ben Terris, Washington Post

As security parted the masses to give him passage out of the chandelier-lit ballroom, Michelle Fields, a young reporter for Trump-friendly Breitbart News, pressed forward to ask the Republican front-runner a question. I watched as a man with short-cropped hair and a suit grabbed her arm and yanked her out of the way. He was Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s 41-year-old campaign manager.

Fields stumbled. Finger-shaped bruises formed on her arm.

“I’m just a little spooked,” she said, a tear streaming down her face. “No one has grabbed me like that before.”

She took my arm and squeezed it hard. “I don’t even want to do it as hard as he did,” she said, “because it would hurt.”

27
wheat-dogghazi-mailgate  Mar 29, 2016 • 9:52:26am

If Michelle Fields had an ounce of introspection in her, she’d look dispassionately at these events, realize conservative men are not her allies, and jump ship.

Sadly, she probably won’t, because being a conservative writer has been her gravy train.

Only if you believe that the victim’s statement counts as evidence. Since she is a female reporter … And Ben Terris is a reporter for the lame stream media, so he doesn’t count either.

Not at all. And I don’t see how you could construe it as such. Fields is a conservative writer/reporter, who as far as I know, has unblinklingly held to the right wing party line. One aspect of the RW party line is latent, if not overt misogyny. I would hope that she could see that clearly come out in the attacks on her from the right.

At no point did I suggest she brought those attacks, or Lewandowski’s grabbing, on herself.

So there’s no reality, just claims about reality that must be sorted and evaluated according to the latest seeded brackets of Who’s The True Conservative.

She is hanging with the wrong crowd, from my perspective, anyway.

Seriously, though, the attacks on her were simply vile, like Rage Furby calling her a “drama queen” and others impugning her veracity, both as a person and as a reporter. Maybe she’s just become so inured to the misogyny around her that she doesn’t realize it’s inherent to the worldview of these people. Continuing to defend the conservative viewpoint is, in the long run, not going to help her, other than perhaps to make her money.

Right, because lumping Trump haters with the left is going to be so convincing.

I know my handle should pretty much be “The Ghost of Buzz Killington” but—this rhetorical construction is something we should be very attentive of. Right and left were never very descriptive categories to start with, but it’s degrading further as the right grows reactionary and relies more and more on demagogy. “Left/leftist” now just means “against us” and “evil.”

At each instance in which the US conservative politics could draw back and re-assess, it’s instead doubling down on its assertion that it cannot be failed, only betrayed…and specifically, that all “leftism” is betrayal. It’s not a good trend.

State sanctioned killers, increasingly unable to get the drugs for lethal injection, are looking at a return to Thomas Edison’s masterpiece:

The shocking truth about the electric chair

I frankly don’t understand why these singularly determined folk will not consider that well proven product of French ingenuity, the guillotine. It is quick, reliable, and cheap to use. I would require only that the blade be connected to multiple lanyards, one for each member of the sentencing jury, the judge, and the prosecutor; with all having to be pulled for the blade to fall. The same crew would be provided with plenty of mops, towels, soap, water, and bleach so they could perform the necessary cleanup as well. We could give them little axe-shaped commemorative lapel pins as a reward. These could become a status symbol at Republican conventions, especially if they were made from investment grade gold.
I wonder how much we could get for the TV rights?

Contextually, I’m not even sure what the “revolution” is. Democratic socialism being a viable position, I guess.

The whole construct sinks of “historical conditions” in the Marxian sense: that shit gets so bad that people decide to flip everything over. Except most revolutions don’t actually work that way: shit gets flipped over, then things get uncertain and the supposed “inevitable” result doesn’t turn up.

Not exactly true. It’s not a “physical arrest” ie. handcuffs, etc. but in Florida a Notice to Appear will legally count as an arrest. Basically it’s the nice way of arresting him and showing that the court doesn’t think he’s a flight risk or imminent threat.

If you skip out on a Notice to Appear the court will issue a formal arrest warrant.

Here’s the thing: I think contextually, the word “revolution” is not being used in the sense of armed upheaval, but of drastic change.

My point is that even if you’re not talking about blood-on-the-floor revolution, but just crises that provoke social upset…well, there’s still no guarantee that crisis X will result in societal transformation Y that will be beneficial. Indeed, there’s no guarantee that crisis X—being wholly hypothetical—is something that will be constrained by a four-year term. One wrong move and the world and/or the nation can be so bent out of true that there’s no solution.

The idea that they’ll be a problem big enough to cause a culture shift such that Democratic Socialism takes hold, but not big enough that markets, international relations, and other issues won’t be affected is a flight of fancy.

We should hang in there. The Obama/Clinton primary was fugly at this stage too. I’d honestly be a little disappointed if Bernie wasn’t still trying hard to win at this point.

re: #221 Big Beautiful Door

Hillary’s (and Bernie’s) policies will likely have little adverse effects on the vast majority of Americans. They will probably make fine presidents doing more good than harm (if any) to average Americans. However, we can’t say the same things about Trump (and definitely Cruz) where his/their policies will definitely adversely impact most of us here and around the US. So, you’re dead on correct about your summation of Susan Sarandon’s completely insulated worldview.

God almighty, the right wing is just derptastic. My feed is a mess of Trump fanatics claiming no wrongdoing or even claiming Cruz is busy with the dirty tricks, and Cruz nuts trying to show Trump is as bugnuts as anyone else would identify.

There are days when I wonder why I bother engaging any of these right wingers.

Then I remember that pointing out the idiocy and outright lies/smears means something. And I return once more into the breach.

Member of Trump’s Secret Service detail confirms Fields touched Trump twice and was warned to stop, before Lewandowski intervened

Oh, so he’s one of those.

I have friends who did production work for Prince. And as much as I love the Lil’ Purple guy, I was a little disappointed to hear about a printed sheet that was handed out to the production company employees:

1. Do not touch Prince under any circumstances.
2. Do not speak to Prince unless you are spoken directly to by Prince.
3. When passing by Prince in any part of the venue, do not look directly at Prince.

Sounds like Trump has the same thing going on, only he’s got the Secret Service and his #1 thug Lewandowski to enforce it.

The USSS has to make sure that their principal is safe, and personal contact could result in physical harms (as assassinations have been carried out through various nefarious forms of physical contact). It’s their job to make sure that Trump is safe. Those warnings are legit IMO.

Corey’s actions, however aren’t.

It’s also likely that Fields’ response to the contacts is that they’re inadvertent and accidental, rather than intentional grabbing.

Figures that Trump would try to equate the actual grabbing Corey did with the touching Fields did to Trump.

I now need to go take a shower for having said that last sentence.

It won’t work in court, but Trump has mastered the wingnut worldview: his people will eat up the idea that it was self-defense and that he has a right to sue her.

Again, this is fascinating. Trump is tapping in to the non-logic that proliferates on wingnut sites, FOX, and Alex Jones…the stuff you’re supposed to nod at, but not say aloud, in public. His success is a more graphic demonstration of an existing trend in how US “conservatism” justifies its policies with the cultivation of arrogant ignorance, empty bellicosity, and a sense of entitled self-pity.

eta: if you want to see what I mean about Trump commanding the style, go look at how FOX commentators are justifying-but-also-minimizing the assault on Fields. Again—Trump isn’t doing anything new; he’s just wielding a medium skillfully. (The medium being bullshit that manipulates people by massaging their anger and insecurity.)

Cruz and Trump aides battle on CNN over whether Trump campaign manager’s attorney ‘bit a stripper’

After Lewandowski was charged on Tuesday with assaulting former Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields, Trump National Spokesperson Katrina Pierson explained to CNN that there were no plans to suspend the campaign manager — even if he was found guilty.

“You’ve got your candidate at your rallies saying he will pay the legal bills of those who engage in physical violence,” Cruz Campaign National Chairman Chad Sweet pointed out to Pierson. “It should be no surprise that we see this same culture reflected even at the campaign manager level.”

“You can’t make this stuff up,” he continued. “Corey [Lewandowski] has selected for his defense counsel Kendall Coffey, who was a disgraced U.S. Attorney under Clinton that had to resign in 1996 because why? He bit a stripper.”

I keep seeing people reference Lewandowski grabbing her upper arm, which in the screen caps is true. But his other arm is hidden behind Ms Fields, presumably grabbing her lower arm.

She mentioned the bruises starting to form on her forearm and showed Ben Terris immediately after the incident.

WHAT IS ‘SKINWALKERS: THE NAVAJO MYSTERIES’? EXPLORING THE TRENDING NETFLIX SHOW

…it’s technically not a television show at all, but a collection of three made-for-TV movies from the early ’00s. The original one was called Skinwalkers and was adapted from a 1980s series of celebrated detective novels written by Tony Hillerman. Robert Redford — yes, that Robert Redford — and his son co-produced the series, which took a long time to find funding. Apparently Hollywood doesn’t think that people will tune into a show with an all-Native American cast. The irony was that Skinwalkers became the highest rated program on PBS in 2002. Two other films followed. All three comprise Skinwalkers: The Navajo Mysteries.
