Inasmuch as they are subjective and nearly meaningless (especially “slut”), feel free to use them as you please.

The word “unqualified” has been thrown around a lot lately, some of it undeserved.

It would most definitely be deserved in this case.

What kind of government has time for this shit?

By government definition, a “leftover woman” refers to any unmarried female above the age of 27.

Piggybacking on the inability of certain Berniebros to math properly in the last thread:

Bernie needs 56.5% of the remaining pledged delegates to win by a razor-thin margin.

If Hillary beats Bernie by 10 points in NY, that need rises to 59.5%.

If Bernie manages a Wyoming-style “tie” where he wins the popular vote but splits the delegates, the math still gets worse for him, needing 57.8% of the remaining delegates — and that counts the odd single delegate he might win in a toin-coss from that particular outcome.

I read the book a long time ago and found the TV series EXCELLENT.

I binged it.

As I’m quickly becoming disgusted with reality again, I have to find something else to binge watch.

Any suggestions?

Broadchurch if you want a does of some of the best acting and awful reality.

Call the Midwife is probably the best TV I’ve ever watched. Seriously.

re: #8 Wendell Zurkowitz (slave to the waffle light)

It’s an interesting problem (though more than merely “interesting” for those directly affected.) Back when the one child policy was instituted and girls were not the desired child, I thought it would be great to have a daughter because she would be a member of a small and desirable group. It seems I was wrong-there has been an increase in sex slavery and prostitution because a large number of men without the means to compete in the marriage market still want to have sex.

There also seems to be a lack of recognition that perhaps if the legal and social position of married women, especially young married women was better that women would want to get married.

Not to be outdone, Bryan Adams canceled a Mississippi concert in protest of a new civil rights bill that protects the conscience rights of blacks in a state that once was world-renowned for racial prejudice.

I had no idea that Mississippi just passed a civil rights bill for blacks. How could we have all missed this?

Bryan Fischer… he’s a little hard to place.

“…The Eight Circle of Hell is resided by the fraudulent. Dante and Virgil reach it on the back of Geryon, a flying monster with different natures, just like the fraudulent. This circle of Hell is divided into 10 Bolgias or stony ditches with bridges between them. In Bolgia 1, Dante sees panderers and seducer. In Bolgia 2 he finds flatterers. After crossing the bridge to Bolgia 3, he and Virgil see those who are guilty of simony. After crossing another bridge between the ditches to Bolgia 4, they find sorcerers and false prophets. In Bolgia 5 are housed corrupt politicians, in Bolgia 6 are hypocrites and in the remaining 4 ditches, Dante finds hypocrites (Bolgia 7), thieves (Bolgia 7), evil counselors and advisers (Bolgia 8), divisive individuals (Bolgia 9) and various falsifiers such as alchemists, perjurers and counterfeits (Bolgia 10).

Following our write-up, a Clinton donor who attended this specific fundraiser told Gawker that he personally witnessed the the static noise machine being operated: “I can confirm without any doubt that there was a white noise machine set up on the perimeter to prevent the public and reporters from hearing what Hillary Clinton said.” He did not know, however, what in Clinton’s speech, as he remembers it, would have inspired such a precautionary measure. SLUT, BITCH AND WHORE are quickly becoming my favorite compliments.

I decided a year or two ago to only use “bitch” when it was the best word. I replace it with asshole, and if that isn’t just as good, I am allowed to use bitch. And it turns out (at least for me) that asshole is a perfectly good replacement and I don’t ever need “bitch,” at least so far.

I don’t necessarily consider “bitch” to be beyond the pale, like the c-word (or slut or whore, really), but as I said it just doesn’t seem to add anything for the cost of turning the insult gendered.

Go back to the reservation, grandpa.

Referring to Sanders’ invocation of a “moral economy,” [Verizon CEO] McAdam wrote that the senator “seems to think that can only happen by ignoring the transformational forces reshaping the communications industry.”
“But nostalgia for the rotary phone era won’t save American jobs, any more than ignoring the global forces reshaping the auto industry saved the Detroit auto makers,” he continued.
While conceding that rhetoric in presidential campaigns can get heated and that big corporations are an enticing target, McAdam wrote, “But when rhetoric becomes disconnected from reality, we’ve crossed a dangerous line.”
“We deserve better from people aspiring to be President,” he concluded. “At the very least, we should demand that candidates base their arguments on the facts … even when they don’t fit their campaign narratives.”
Sanders fired back at the post in a tweet later Wednesday: “I don’t want the support of McAdam, Immelt and their friends in the billionaire class. I welcome their contempt.”

Wow. Such coalition. Very leadership.

He makes the common mistake of thinking of corporations as evil. You don’t regulate corporations because they’re evil. You regulate them because they’re amoral - the don’t exist to be moral, they exist to make money. Moral or responsible behavior must be required of them, not expected of them.

I was watching one of those ‘Discovery Channel’ shows, with the guy who weighed >1100 lbs. It was like a car crash - I couldn’t look away. For breakfast, he was eating like a dozen eggs and a pound of bacon.

Of course, he wasn’t cooking it. Someone was cooking it for him. I thought, “Jesus, why not just hand him a loaded gun. It would be quicker.”

And sure enough, I read later that it killed him.

I also ran across the quote “It wasn’t the drugs that killed Elvis, it was breakfast”. The article mentioned his favorite sandwich: an entire loaf of bread, cut lengthwise, covered with a jar of peanut butter, a pound of bacon and a jar of grape jelly.

Gay sex scares us? I had no idea. Someone needs to keep me up to date on these things so I can react appropriately.

So a market research agency does a poll on how a portion of British Muslims feel about certain issues, and form this magically extrapolates to “Modern Muslims” as in all of us? Because that’s what the headline says. Imagine if I went around to a sampling of Jewish neighborhoods in the U.S., and then came back and pronounced that my findings were about “Modern Jews.” BTW, here’s a link to the PDF describing the methodology used, and here’s the PDF of the actual survey.

Nawaz is such an ass. I wonder if he realizes that such a generalization includes him (unless he became an atheist since he started hanging around with Harris).

For the record, I couldn’t care less about gay sex provided that 1.) it’s not being done in the street (which would also apply to straight sex), and 2.) no one is trying to force me to engage in it.

Toddler shot in face when gun stashed in mom’s purse goes off while waiting at hospital

A child was shot in the face at a Mississippi hospital after a gun went off inside her mother’s purse.

The 2-year-old girl was waiting Wednesday morning with her mother in the emergency room at Merit Health Central Hospital in Jackson when she was wounded, reported The Clarion-Ledger.

Police said the woman dropped her purse while standing near a vending machine, which caused the handgun to discharge.
