Anyway, its become obvious that Clinton is going to win big, and with Trump at the top of the ticket she might be fortunate enough to enter office with a Democratic Congress. That would give them two years to get some decent legislation passed before the GOP regains control in the 2018 midterms. So we should talk about her legislative agenda. It has to be probably just two or three big things which are must pass. I suggest sensible immigration reform and a big infrastructure bill with an emphasis on building a 21st century smart energy grid to zero out carbon emissions as rapidly as is politically feasible. As a bonus, student loan reform to ensure kids aren’t loaded with unmanageable debt for life. What say you?

CLINTON: Well, he has given no indication that he understands the gravity of the responsibilities that go with being commander-in-chief. And that will be a big part of my campaign because, at some point, he’s going to have to be held to the standard we hold anybody running for president and commander-in-chief. What is it you know? What is it you’ve done? What is it you are proposing to do as president and commander-in-chief? So far we haven’t seen any of that.
We’ve seen a lot of rhetoric, we’ve seen a lot of insults. He’s an equal opportunity insulter. But when it comes down to making this really important decision, it’s been my experience that people in our country say to themselves, wait a minute, what do I think is the best choice, the best choice for me, for my family, for my jobs, my income, my future. And I think that absent some major change in how he is presenting himself and what he is saying, that’s going to be a pretty high bar for him to get over.

Mr. Trump’s campaign has joined Twitter’s regional ad targeting, having four of his posts appear in the feeds of selected Twitter users in Indiana, regardless of whether they are followers of the candidate.
In a sign of growing technical sophistication within the Trump campaign, the Twitter posts are being aimed at particular audiences within the state. For example, a post with a video featuring the endorsement of Bobby Knight, the former Indiana University basketball coach, was targeted at basketball fans as identified by Twitter.

Yep, I was reminded of this quote from The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich:
As he makes clear in Mein Kampf, he had the petty bourgeoisie’s gnawing fear of sliding back into the ranks of the proletariat, of the manual laborers - a fear he was later to exploit in building up the National Socialist Party on the broad foundation of the hitherto leaderless, ill-paid, neglected white-collar class, whose millions nourished the illusion that they were at least socially better off than the “workers.”

Except if you read the article he actually talks about how primary voters do skew richer than normal. Along with how poorer voters tend to vote D - both Hillary and Bernie have an average of $61k.
There’s also evidence to suggest that there is no surge in participation for lower income Republican voters compared to previous years.

There’s some valid arguments to be made against it, but the interesting bit for me is the lack of evidence to suggest that the proportion of lower-income Republican voters hasn’t changed.

Sure, but McCain’s individual vote isn’t of much significance. What is significant is whether, as an elder statesmen of the party, he lends his support to Trump by publicly declaring it, which he impliedly has by stating he will support the nominee.
This highlights what I’ve been saying for weeks. Bernie’s done nothing to close the gap in delegates since Super Tuesday. And that includes that 7-state run last month.
Because winning states isn’t the same as gaining delegates.

Hillary’s winning where it counts - in delegates. And that also translates to superdelegates. Oh, and she’s leading on popular vote too. So, there’s no measure by which Bernie’s leading, unless you count the number of supporters who ignore delegate math or say that they’re going to fight to the convention and beyond.
And despite all my issues with Bernie bros, it’s still a world better than the GOP dumpster fire of their own self-immolation as Trump is about to send Cruz into the abyss to rejoin Lucifer (to spend rest of his career picking up Fiorina?!). Meanwhile, #NeverTrump will give way to Trump or else (since the or else is President Hillary R. Clinton). Because that’s how the GOP rolls in the Shire. Even the NRO idiots will flip to support Trump and act as though their petty outrageous outrage over Trump never existed, and put the party ahead of their complaints.
The fact is that Trump has repeatedly shown himself incompetent and a conspiracy minded hack. Then again, so too has Cruz, just not as successfully. This is where the GOP has gone. And they must suffer losses at the polls for their debased choices.
Totally OT, just needed something to cheer me up on the way to the dentist for a filling (with no dental insurance to minimize the financial bite).

The math requires Bernie winning states by increasingly impossible margins. He’s got to win states by better than 57-43 margins. He’s currently losing IN in the polls by roughly the same 54-46 margin. He’d need such a shift in the polling (20+ points, and growing) for every remaining state that the series of highly improbable events is impossible.
Random code moment: some gnarly regular expressions that normalize the embed code for Flickr and Instagram, reducing the different formats to simple URLs for further parsing.

Rasputin. Come on. If you’re going to go with conspiracies, might as well pull out one of the granddaddies.

I’m not saying it’s achievable. I’m just saying that arguing you have a 20% chance of winning Indiana by a sufficient margin is still a better argument than saying you’re going to get superdelegates to ignore the delegate totals and the vote totals.
re: #125 ObserverArt
Bob Kerry (former Gov and Sen of Nebraska) was on MSNBC/Lawrence last night and he is a Super Delegate. He said they were considerate of Bernie and his desire to get more super delegates right up to April 19th New York. The results of New York must have proven to the Super Delegates Hillary was more popular and electable. He seemed to hint it was a done deal that they would stay the way they are from here on out, Bernie really didn’t have a case.
Not to mention that he has basically accused the entire Democratic party of being “corrupt”.
Way to win friends and influence people, Bernie.

Because of the vote they were holding last night in Rockwall on a bathroom ordinance, my wife got on facebook and wrote a rant. She wanted me to proof it, so I included that, if we were going to write a law that protected children, it would prevent adult men from entering restrooms where children are allowed. The evidence being Jared Fogle, Dennis Hastert, and some of the Catholic clergy.

Yes, it’s inevitable. If you’re running Windows 8, upgrade. And, instead of clicking “Install Windows 10”, download the ISO and install from there.

I don’t hate it—it’s def better than 8.1—but I don’t like the way it updates. You can’t really control it and it can break things, which is why I only have it on my laptop and not on my desktop “work” machine.

An unsubstantiated rumor I heard was that Microsoft chose 10 over 9 defensively so that third-party applications that test for “Windows 9X” for 95/98 wouldn’t get confused with “Windows 9”.
As someone who has to deal with this shit on a regular basis, I can attest that marketing folk are obsessed with software version numbers in ways you wouldn’t believe.
Edit: Clarified above.

Edge is pretty fast, I think they screwed up in putting it out before it was fully compatible with everything on the web. Of course I still use chrome.

Yes, do disable Cortana. While it might be helpful in some cases I disabled it so it wasn’t tracking what I was doing on the web.

Now I’m waiting for a call back from my medical provider. I want to find out whether I need an appointment to have a new prescription written by my new doctor (same practice) because my old prescription is over a year old and I have not filled it yet. It’s for Zostavax, the shingles vaccine. I could just wait a couple of years, I think you don’t need a prescription if you’re over 60.
I’ve had shingles, I’ve had Bell’s Palsy (which they now think is also caused by the chicken pox virus) and of course, I’ve had chicken pox. Now I want the vaccine so I don’t get shingles again. So I go read about it… One of the possible side effects of the vaccine: shingles. I’ll take my chances.

Could vary by practitioner. My doctor and pharmacy are all in the same place, so it was no big deal. I just had to sign paperwork with the pharmacy.
I’ve also had shingles in the past and yeah, chance I would take also!
Nice that my insurance covered the cost 100%.
Thanks Obama! (seriously!)

Airshow News from Sierra Hotel Aeronautics
Early yesterday, in preparation for the upcoming May 4th celebrations, a Sienar Fleet Systems Twin Ion TIE fighter was lost during an air show practice demonstration. Thankfully, the crew managed to egress the spacecraft before impacting the planetary surface. Preliminary findings indicate the accident was caused by the Galactic Empire demonstration fighter entering a split S maneuver with insufficient altitude to allow for recovery. Rebel Alliance Safety Board officials will be commencing a preliminary investigation of the accident. When asked about the mistake of entering a maneuver with insufficient altitude, Admiral Akbar responded by saying “It’s a trap!”
May the 4th be with you, tomorrow.

I think Deal may have reached the point where he has no more f*cks to give when it comes to tolerating the BS he’s tolerated in the past from the GOP/TP majority in the General Assembly. Yah for him! It’s something I’ve been waiting for for over six years. His inability to break ranks with those who support GOP/TP nonsense, based on when he was a House member in Congress, is why I refused to vote for him here in GA. I still won’t vote for him because he places his political career over doing what he knows is right—— something which has been demonstrated by his tenure in Congress and his first four years as governor.
