Rob Reiner Shocks All-White Morning Joe Panel by Suggesting Racists Like Donald Trump

Trump has racist supporters? Inconceivable!
Politics • Views: 64,857

It’s a bit ironic that Rob Reiner’s career was launched on “All In the Family,” a show that lampooned racist bigots — and here he is on MSNBC’s Morning Joe having to explain to the all-white panel that there’s actually racism in this country. The horror!

Notice how they all act shocked and surprised he would even suggest such a thing, and make him say over and over that he doesn’t mean ALL Trump supporters are racists. It’s a microcosm of the messed up mainstream media, unable to make judgments about things that are just completely obvious; so eager to appear balanced that they’re falling over.

Sorry, but all Trump supporters are racist

If you’re not horrified by his racist, sexist, bigoted rhetoric then you’re a racist, bigoted sexist. If you voted for a racist, bigoted sexist, then you are a racist, bigoted sexist

Note to the panel, David Duke is STILL backing Trump. Don’t act so fucking shocked and as far Scarborough, you’re part of why the GOP is seen as a welcome place for racists so by all means drop your monocle. Good for Reiner. There’s a reason why racists like Trump and it’s simple, he is one.

I also want to point out that Reiner is the only person I’ve seen on a “news” program bring up Trump’s scariest proposal — The Deportation Force — in weeks if not months

We have a nominee for one of the major parties who has made the centerpiece of his platform his plan for a new military force that will go door to door — kicking down those doors if necessary — to root out brown people, load them into a paddy wagon, and dump them across the border. This is the most horrifying proposal I’ve ever heard from someone running for president. I know it’s easy to get lost in his plans to nuke Europe, start a trade war with China, and cut off immigration to people of a certain religion, but how in Dog’s name is the entire country, let alone the party of small government, not completely freaked out by this guy’s proposal for a roaming horde of military personnel rounding people up?

Dr. Matt  May 5, 2016 • 12:06:29pm

I actually watched most of this interview. Dead Intern Joe and his sidekick Puppet were in complete defensive mode when Reiner was accusing them of being soft and ineffective when they interviewed Trump.

Trump supporters don’t have to be racist, or bigoted. They could just be stupid people who only care about themselves, and mistakenly believe that a Trump Presidency will help them.

Nope, I’m not buying it. If you vote for him then you are endorsing everything he’s said or promised to do.

If you vote for him you’re a racist. Period

I am going off topic so I apologize in advance.

The wildfires in Alberta are heartbreaking and not just Ft. McMurray but other areas are under mandatory evacuation. People are losing everything and a lot of those people have pets and who knows how those are faring.

If you have the means and are able, please consider donating to the Red Cross Canada at donate.redcross.ca

And making a donation to the Edmonton Humane Society as they need crates, bowls, food, etc., as they are going to get to Ft Mac and help rescue people’s animals. You can contact the EHS here: edmontonhumanesociety.com

I made a donation via credit card to the closest PetSmart (which is a few blocks away) and the EHS is sending a representative to get what they need with my donation. You can contact the nearby PetSmart here: stores.petsmart.com This is the PetSmart on 13916 - 137 Ave, Edmonton, Alberta. I am not posting their phone number but you can Google it.

If you can, please help these people and their pets…they’ve lost everything.

Trump goes beyond pandering. He’s a bullshitter. He spins stories on demand for any audience, and may not even know that he’s full of shit. It’s a trait that can lead to success in business, and in the Republican party. I hope the rest of us can see what he’s doing.

I see human rights as one of the non-negotiable issues. I’m cool with talking different approaches on financial stuff and foreign policy, but the bigotry, racism, and misogyny out of the GOP is just a flat out deal breaker. Until that stops, it’s an easy decision for me.

Being okay with those qualities in a candidate for whatever reason means that, at least at some level, they’re okay with it. They just don’t want to think about themselves that way. You can argue that if you point this out, they’re going to be uncomfortable and run away from the truth and that’s probably accurate, because most people don’t want to do that kind of introspection.

Bernie thinks all the Democratic Party has to do is move to the left on economics and all those white working class voters will magically become Democrats again. It’s such horseshit. I’m sorry but it really is. Those voters CHOSE to leave the Democratic Party because they couldn’t accept the Democratic Party becoming more socially liberal and more inclusive to voters of all backgrounds. That’s what the Reagan Democrats were all about. Now there were some of these white working class voters like my grandparents who may not have been socially liberal but they were willing to realize they still felt much more at home with the Dems than they ever would the Republicans.

Or they just don’t care about race issues (makes them bad people imo), and calling them racist plays into the Conservative claim that Liberals are calling everyone racist. You can’t just insist that someone is racist, then claim they’re uncomfortable with the truth. That’s the kind of thing Conservatives do with all their bizarre beliefs about modern people.

I’m starting to think that maybe being in Vermont so long has made Bernie clueless to our nation’s diversity being a pretty damn wonderful thing. I’m honestly disappoitned that a guy who loves to say how proud he is to be from Brooklyn doesn’t seem to get the beauty of the cultural diversity of the Democratic movement. And i’ll remind Bernie that working class African Americans, Asians, and Hispanics still vote Democratic. It’s got more to do with as I said the social conservatism and yes bigotry that does exist within those white working class communities. I’m sorry. I’m NOT saying all or even mots WWC are bigots but to ignore the bigotry that does exist within those communities and to instead bitch about the Democratic Party moving ot the center on economics shows Bernie to be a moron. It’s not quite Howard Dean saying he wants to be the candidate of guys with Rebel flags on their trucks but it comes from the same flawed mindset that comes from representing a state that is 95% white and thus oblivious to the cultural diversity that makes the nation and party work.

I don’t think Bernie Sanders values or respects social liberalism. I won’t go Jim Demint and say you need to be socially liberal to be an economic lefty but part of being a liberal is understanding and empathizing with people from different walks of life than you and that includes, women, immigrants, LGBT people, racial minorities, etc, the people who basically get told by Bernie to just hear the economic message and ignore that Bernie says little about the issues that matter to them.

Trump supporters don’t have to be racist, or bigoted. They could just be stupid people who only care about themselves, and mistakenly believe that a Trump Presidency will help them.

“Good Germans”, in other words.

Anyone who supports Trump is supporting a racist bigot. Supporting racist bigotry is the operational definition of a racist bigot.

Therefore Trump’s supporters can reasonably all be viewed as racist bigots, notwithstanding any supposedly non-racist justifications that may be provided.

re: #25 gwangung

also..not served at Trump Tower

actually, yes.

At the end of the atrium floor is the Trump Café’s steam table, a 40-foot-long affair that might have been borrowed from a public high school. It’s divided into five sections, each with its own menu: hamburgers and pizzas, soups, do-it-yourself salads, sandwiches, and entrees. One day I tried the bacon cheeseburger ($12.40) and found the patty rubbery and way overcooked, real prison food. A couple of slices of half-melted American lay wanly on top like spent runners, and some terrible fries tasting of burned vegetable oil accumulated on the side.

Later that day I sampled freely from the 10-item entrée menu, which changes daily, though it invariably favors Italian pastas and deep-fried stuff. The fried chicken ($13.50) had a thick breading and consisted of three dry pieces of breast. It wasn’t inedible, though the flavored steak fries that accompanied were. On the same pass I also ordered “beef tacos” ($13.50) which turned out to be a fried tortilla bowl heaped with romaine lettuce, grated yellow cheese, and plain ground beef that was so devoid of flavor, it rendered an insult to Mexicans every bit as profound as Trump’s previous pronouncements. Trump food is bland food.

What is universally true is that anyone who votes for Trump is voting for someone who has campaigned on scapegoating convenient targets (e.g., Mexicans, Muslims) and who owes his success thus far to that strategy.

The parallel with Weimar Germany is nearly exact. Many votes for the Nazis came from people who weren’t personally rabid anti-Semites, but just had no real problem with Hitler scapegoating the Jews.

I order taco salads all the time. They vary in quality of course, depending on where they come from. I don’t think they’re authentic Mexican food, but I don’t really care. A lot of American food is of the “inspired by __” type, like pizza and chili.

That said, anybody who thinks eating a taco salad—uniquely bland, it sounds like from the review—is going to get Latinos to vote for him when he wants goon squads going door-to-door to round up and deport their family members is delusional.

I took a taxi to a doctor’s appointment yesterday. My regular driver is a woman from El Salvador, and on the way home I got my dinner (based on her recommendation) from a Chilean operated restaurant. Let’s just say I didn’t hear one kind word about Trump from anyone. These are all hard working immigrants who are trying to make their families’ lives better, who pay taxes and contribute to our economy—they’re not some violent criminals or lazy welfare leeches.

Ditto for the doctor, who’s a pretty conservative naturalized American (Hindu). He was basically like, “Um, NO. America isn’t that crazy and most white people aren’t racists. If he were elected (because enough people voted for him) it would send a horrible message about racism in the U.S.”

To say he’s disgusted with Trump & the GOP would be an understatement. He also said he knows plenty of people who are either registering to vote for the first time or trying desperately to get their citizenship process rushed through so they can register in time to vote this November.

Trump is scum.

Trump just picked up $10 million from a guy who was going to give it to Cruz. Nothing illegal about that though. I’m sure the guy doesn’t expect anything in return.

More of an Olive Garden, really.

Last time I was at an Olive Garden (in Dayton, Ohio), it was for my youngest step-son’s retirement after 20+ years from the Air Force.
The salad came and I knew it was totally fresh because there were ants.
And then we found ants floating in the soup.

I had a general sitting next to me on one side and another rather high-ranking officer sitting on the other side. We quietly discussed options and went with discrete (and very polite) words with the server.
The general briefly excused himself from the table.
When he returned, he whispered to me, “taken care of.”
I said, “extra protein is extra protein; I just prefer that it sits quietly whilst being consumed…”

As fast food goes, the Taco Bell Taco Salad is one of the most unhealthy items out there. Like eating two double-whoppers or something ungodly like that, as far as the amount of fat it contains.

If there were ever an election cycle that a third party or independent candidate could get traction, I remain convinced this is it.

No major party nominee before Clinton or Trump had a double-digit net negative “strong favorability” rating. Clinton’s would be the lowest ever, except for Trump.

That’s just looking at the +/- on strongly like and strongly dislike. And since both of these nominees have been in the public eye for 20+ years, they have the highest numbers we’ve ever seen in those categories.

At the ATM, I have to insert my card, remove it, then wait for the “since this is a chip, insert your card and leave it there” message. (Once I just left it in the first time, and the ATM told me to remove it, then posted the “insert your card and leave it there” message.) I assume once all the non-chipped cards expire, this will change.

But I”m happy to say that the “do not remove card” at other venues doesn’t take as long as it seems to take for you. (I don’t think “chip and pin” is set up around here, but once it is, the whole process should speed back up. I hope.)

If you’re a registered Republican in California, you can’t vote in the Democratic primary. You’ve either got to be registered as a Democrat or Decline to State (our technical term for independent) to vote in the Democratic primary.

I would also add that he has consistently called for committing war crimes by ordering the killing of innocent family members of ISIS and other terrorist groups. On other things, he is (purposely) wildly unpredictable.

At the end of the day, I keep going back to my international relations course in college where we were asked to model conflicts between nations. The primary lesson our professor wanted us to understand is that the very basis of being able to predict conflict outcomes is to look at who is enacting a nation’s foreign policy, and ask yourself “Is this person a ‘rational actor’?”

Most nations, whether we agree with them or not, are led by rational actors. The only nation I can currently think of that is not led by one is North Korea, although there very well may be others. I do not believe Trump is capable of leading this country as a rational actor and I don’t believe many of our allies or enemies trust he is either.

I believe this very basic rule is the reason for neocon backing of Hillary. To imply that they expect her to enact their policies is unfair to her and far too generous to the neocons. She is simply the only person in this race who does not espouse catastrophic views on dealing with other nations.

I’m not saying that Clinton is a neocon on foreign policy, or that she would enact neocon foreign policy. What I do believe, though, is that she is more hawkish than President Obama. I also think that she has a tendency to be risk adverse and with a hawkish mindset in foreign policy that could lead to a more interventionalist policy. I also agree with you that if nothing else, she will be a rational actor, whereas Trump will not be.

American capitalism at it’s finest:

Discovery announces buyouts, possible layoffs

Discovery Communications, the Silver Spring-based television programming company, has announced a round of voluntary buyouts that may lead to layoffs as the cable giant looks to cut costs by the end of September.

“If it is not going to nourish audiences or help us grow long term, we are attacking it,” chief executive David M. Zaslav said in a Thursday morning call with investors. “The ultimate goal is to maximize growth.”

Discovery, which oversees 14 channels including TLC and Animal Planet, declined to say how many jobs would be affected. The company employs 1,500 people locally and more than 7,000 worldwide. It is one of Montgomery County’s largest employers.

[…]

Two years ago, Zaslav was the country’s highest-paid executive, with total compensation of $156.1 million, including $11 million in cash and $145 million in stocks and options, according to company filings with the SEC. In 2015, Zaslav was paid $32.38 million.

[…]

Last quarter, the company’s Discovery Channel had eight of the top 10 unscripted shows on cable, led by “Gold Rush,” “Fast N Loud” and “Alaska Bush People,” Zaslav said. Its Investigation Discover channel, which includes shows such as “Murder Among Friends” and “Evil Stepmothers,” was ranked second among female viewe

I like Obama’s more diplomatic approach. Secretary Kerry’s been good in this regard as well. Sure, we still drone strike the occasional ISIS compound/hospital/wedding party, but our intentions are good. And we’ve kind of reduced troops overseas though our advisor count is going up again. I know…it’s complicated.

I really am a fucking pacifist at the end of the day.

After all my study of military history, so am I.

But I also believe in the old Roman adage, “If you would have peace, be prepared for war.”

I think the biggest problem these days is that most people still think in Clausewitzian terms when it comes to war. War to the knife and the knife to the hilt. No mercy. No quarter. WWII is what pops into their minds when they think of war.

That sort of war isn’t going to happen again, and if there is a WWIII there won’t be enough living to bury the dead.

A Freeper was going on about how great it would be to have Trump as president because people would fear us. Eventually the fear would turn to respect.

Aside from the stupidity of wanting people to be afraid of the US, I can’t think of a single instance where I’ve had fear turn into respect. It makes you wonder what kind of family they grew up in.

I was thinking about this the other day, when Trump flirted with the idea of having as his running mate, the guy he calls “Lyin’ Ted”, “the worst liar I’ve ever seen”, a man whose wife he publicly threatened and insulted, and whose father he linked to the assassination of JFK.

Evil Salvation Army forces Duggar cult to cancel child bride selling event.

A Christian retreat for Quiverfull fathers to marry off their teen daughters has been cancelled after Raw Story readers expressed concerns that the event constitutes human trafficking and contacted the Salvation Army which owns the campground where that retreat was scheduled to be held in Wichita.

Quiverfull patriarch, Vaughn Ohlman, organized a “Get Them Married” retreat for the purpose of providing a weekend where ultra-conservative Christian fathers could network with like-minded families “(and their unmarried young men and women) who are committed to young, fruitful marriage and to help them overcome the barriers which have kept their children unmarried.”

The Raw Story article sparked outrage among readers and many were moved to action, demanding that authorities be notified in order to protect the children who were slated to be married off young for the purpose of procreating lots of babies for Jesus.

Readers discovered that Camp Hiawatha, where the retreat was planned to be held, is owned by the Salvation Army. I contacted a good friend who is a officer at the Salvation Army’s training school in Chicago, and she responded right away to let me know the Wichita corps has already denied access to Ohlman’s group for what would have amounted to a child trafficking “retreat.”

The world has moved on from your ancient American technology — my debit card is contactless, just tap it on the reader and done. It allows for payments up to about 35 bucks by this method, anything higher I have to enter a PIN for authentication.

The delays of reading the 20th-century chip-and-PIN cards you’re reporting are caused mainly by back-end server authentication. That’s due to the banks not providing fast retailer-facing systems to securely handshake with the store back-office and card reader network you use at the tills.

1) Dark goes for Trump. If that happens,
a) He tells us how Trump has moderated his positions, and now he finds him more palatable than Clinton. Or

c) Dark goes dark.

Or,

Whatever integrity NBC had left died when Comcast bought them. They’re no better than TLC, History, A&E, and all the other crap networks out there now.

Agreed. Their biggest mistake was messing with Johnny Carson, who’s vengeance is eternal.

I know we discussed the President’s speech in Flint, but Charlie Pierce’s column on it made it clear to me that we should have given it more credit.

Trump never intended to win. He entered the GOP race in order to promote his TV show and his brand and make money. He’s like the dog that ran after a fire truck. Now that he has caught it, he has no clue what to do with it, except piss and shit on it.

American capitalism at it’s finest:

Discovery announces buyouts, possible layoffs

How to become the highest paid exec in this country: feed the never satiated appetite for idiocy while taking away the jobs of your employees.

My brother bought a house a couple of miles away in the early 1990s when that area was just a bedroom community for middle and lower-middle class DC workers. Then Discovery and boom his little house quadrupled in value.

re: #355 EPR-radar

I do not share Glenn Beck’s optimism here. The GOP is a vast empire of evil, and large parts of that machinery will smoothly fall in line behind proto-fascist Donald Trump because his success would be their success, more or less. They could not possibly care less about the toxic nature of Trump’s campaign, especially since it is merely a down-market version of the same propaganda they have pushed for decades.

Large parts of it. Not all. It remains to be seen how much of an impact that will have on the election. The old saw that “Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line,” seems to have gone sour this election season, as the GOP’s voters failed to fall in line behind Bush. They didn’t fall in love. They fell in hate.

And they found the perfect man to express that hatred.

re: #343 Blind Frog Belly White

My parents will vote for Trump.
My brothers will vote for Trump.
My sister will vote for the and lie to my parents and say she voted for Trump.
I’ll vote for the eventual Democratic nominee.

We all live in California, so it doesn’t fuckin’ matter at the end of the day - Hillary should win this state by 30 points unless she has a complete meltdown and California becomes competitive…and if California becomes competitive, say hello to President Trump and even larger GOP majorities in both houses.
