Beautiful backdrop of the world heritage site Mt. Fuji was used to stage the first Live performance using MIDI controlled LED flying machines, accompanied by Shamisens, the Japanese traditional guitars.

This was done so by utilising more than 20 units of these flying machines, flight swarming formations, music, and 16,500 LED lights to combine into a single audio visual extravaganza. Furthermore, we are able to control the flying machines, visual and audio aspects concurrently, using the DMX512.

Bumping from downstairs:
re: #300 Brian J.

McCain may have a lot of free time for such interviews after January, what with losing his Senate seat and all.

Having the incumbent at 42% at this point in an election is a pretty bad place for them to be in.

Add to the fact that Mr McCain is going to be 80 years old by the election, I can’t imagine that he’s going to run a vigorous campaign across all of the state to get people back on his side.

Plus, you know, the Trump factor is going to depress Republican turn-out.

From downstairs…

Chief justice’s suspension adds to Alabama’s political mess

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Alabama politics are at a low point even by Alabama standards: In a state that trails the nation in many areas, three top elected officials are embroiled in scandal or facing removal from office while a former governor serves time in federal prison on a corruption conviction.

Chief Justice Roy Moore was suspended from his job Friday and faces possible ouster over his attempts to block gay marriage following the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that effectively legalized same-sex marriage nationwide. It’s familiar territory for the Republican Moore, a Christian conservative who was previously removed from the same position in 2003 over a Ten Commandments monument and easily won re-election later.

Meanwhile, fellow Republicans tried to remove Gov. Robert Bentley by impeachment in the just-ended legislative session over a sexually charged scandal involving a top political aide, and an investigation continues. At the same time, GOP House Speaker Mike Hubbard awaits a state trial on 23 felony ethics charges that could result in his removal.

If convicted, Hubbard could even join the ranks of the imprisoned like former Gov. Don Siegelman, a Democrat who was convicted on federal influence-peddling charges.

All in all, it’s some of the worst of times for Republicans who promised to clean up state government after seizing control from Democrats who dominated for generations.

“I never recall when the top leaders of all three branches of government were simultaneously accused of improper behavior,” Bill Stewart, a retired political scientist from the University of Alabama, said Saturday.

It’s hard for state government to concentrate on issues like Medicaid or improving a dilapidated prison system when so many officials are fighting for their jobs, he said.

“It’s definitely a traumatic time,” Stewart said.

What was it that Neil Young said?

“Alabama..You got the rest of the Union, to help you along…..”

Neil Young - Alabama (Lyrics)

With your indulgence, late entry bump from earlier thread:

I submit that the leaders of the various cargo cults that make up the Republican coalition; the hate radio screechers, the sovereign citizens, the Tea Party, the Dominionists, the conspiraliars, the gold bugs etc.; are not particularly concerned with whether their guy wins or loses in the general. They can respond to defeat by claiming that he was “not really a conservative,” (with some justification in Trump’s case, ironically enough.)

Their real objective, fleecing the dupes, will probably be better served by a Clinton presidency, anyway. The radio and internet ads, book and video sales, church speaker fees, and other grift, will keep rolling in, if not increase. In particular, a new Clinton administration will be a kind of golden age for the conspiracy industry. Their 30 year backlog of Hillary conspiracy claims, and their notably forgetful audience, will allow the conspiraliars to recycle fossilized 1990s hate stories as though they were new revelations.

At the same time the pervasive but informal network provided by tax exempt fundamentalist churches will allow them to stay competitive where the grift is linked directly to office, at the local and state levels. They will be able to pass bathroom bills and school vouchers, and excoriate the needy, to their evil black hearts’ content.

It’s sort of disheartening, knowing that a non-trivial fraction of what goes on in our public sphere is the cynical manipulation of the not-small portion of our society who buy into things like end-times prepping, gold-buying-salvation, and Illuminati-style conspiracies.

Those Huffpo comments, and the protesters’ behavior, are inexcusable but I have never really been comfortable with the idea of taking children to political events. I have felt this way ever since my parents took me along to the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago. Arizona is another red state that I think Trump will put into play for Hillary this year.

Unfortunately, a Goldwater/Mondale-style Electoral blowout is no longer possible these days, and winning, say Washington 70/30 instead of 60/40 doesn’t change anything.

My prediction FWIW (0): Clinton will win the Obama 2008 map, with at least one other big “get”. Missouri? (It took all day Wednesday to call Missouri even in 2008.) Georgia? (We’ll never know how Georgia came out in 2008 because so many ballots were “lost”.) Arizona? Texas? not inconceivable because of the Latino vote (If Latino voting is allowed either place.) Texas would be a game-changer, so on that basis, and as the son of a Texan yellow-dog Democrat, that’s what I’m hoping for.

Yeah, I have no doubt Trump’s bigotry is giving all the Euro-fascist nationalists stiffies, just like it is for their American kkkounterparts.

What a circus this election is going to be—perfect place for a carnival barker like Trump. The GOP will never recover from this.

Here’s the Daily Beast article if you don’t mind losing a few brain cells. I’ve gotta admit that it boggles my mind that some American Jews have such a hatred for Muslims that they’re willing to risk supporting an utterly unqualified & amoral demagogue in his quest for one of the most powerful positions in the world, even when he clearly has viciously antisemitic followers. How far down the “undesirables” list behind immigrants & Muslims do they think Jews would be for these goons?

Hillary will probably be our next president - and our first woman president - and I think it’s a really cool that both the parent and the kid want to be a part of this together. She didn’t appear to be bringing her kid along to be a prop - he wasn’t holding a sign or hating on any group. This kid was there to get a lesson on how government works.

Trump today, in a preemptive strike against Hillary.

“She’s married to a man who was the worst abuser of women in the history of politics, Trump said. “She’s married to a man who hurt many women. And Hillary hurt many women, the women that he abused,” Trump said. “She’s married to a man who was impeached for lying … he was impeached for lying about what happened with a woman, and she’s going to take out ads about little Donald Trump? I don’t think so.”

“Hillary was an enabler and she treated those women horribly. Some of those women were destroyed, not by him, but by Hillary Clinton after all of that went down.”

Well checking Wiki, he was banned from entering the U.K but I don’t see anything barring him from the U.S.

In fact,

In the spring of 2009, Wilders launched the “Facing Jihad World Tour”, a series of screenings of Fitna to public officials and influential organizations around the globe, starting in Rome.[135] In the United States, Wilders showed the film to the United States Congress on 26 February having been invited by Arizona Republican Senator Jon Kyl.

So yeah, he is probably allowed into the States.

Oh, yeah…a megachurch not even 3-4 miles from my house invited Wilders to hold one of his “speeches” exactly five years ago come next week:

Someone should demand that Gaffney either shave his beard or be deemed Shariah-compliant. Still, it could just be taqiyyah if he shaved it anyway, so… there’s no way out!

This is what they do to Muslims. Any relationship, no matter how far removed or tenuous is seen as grounds for suspicion, as is doing anything “Shariah-compliant” (like praying, eating halal food, etc.) Even if you don’t do those things or aren’t extreme, you’re accused of taqiyyah. And you can’t refer to any advocacy groups (like CAIR et al.) because they’ve all been slimed in the same manner.

But you know what? Screw the haters & bigots, we’re here and we’re not leaving, so learn to live with it. Or don’t—I’m really beyond giving a hairy rat’s ass at this point.

The funny part is that having a beard isn’t even Shariah, it’s Sunnah. In a nutshell, that means it’s something done because Muhammad (s.a.w.s.) did it and he’s considered and exemplar. There are no legal mandates in Islam saying men MUST grow beards.

Same with hijab. There are no legal directives stating that a woman MUST wear hijab Likewise, there are no Islamic laws laying out punishment for NOT wearing it, though there are countries (like Iran) which have legally mandated it for their own reasons, whatever those may be.

re: #94 Nyet

I’ve read that H supporters see her as a B supporter and vice versa. I wouldn’t know how it actually is.

I think she has been fairly neutral, but recently she did basically say, “Bernie, its over”.

But for anyone to “clinch the nomination,” as Sanders defines it, is nearly impossible, Maddow argued on her MSNBC show last night, because a candidate would have to win the primaries by a landslide to have the necessary amount of pledged delegates needed before the convention.

Maddow went on to explain how the Democratic nomination was decided in 2008, when Barack Obama had a 4 percent lead over Clinton in pledged delegates. At the time, he also needed superdelegates from the convention to win the nomination, as Clinton does this year.

The difference between 2008 and the 2016 election is that Clinton did not contest the nomination, even though she had a lead in the popular vote, Maddow said. At the end of the primary contests in 2008, Clinton said Obama had won “fair and square,” Maddow explained. Clinton, then a U.S. senator from New York, endorsed Obama and dropped out of the race, and she was on the convention floor to support him, not to “contest” the convention.

Clinton also has a bigger lead in pledged delegates than Obama had in 2008 — she has 11 percent more than Sanders. “She is way out ahead, by every measure,” Maddow said. “Way, way further ahead of Senator Sanders than Barack Obama was ahead of her in 2008.”

Yet Sanders says he is going to contest the nomination at the convention, no matter how far ahead Clinton is. Maddow called Sanders’s plan “fantastical, which is not the same as fantastic.”

On the other hand, you could put copies of both bills in an envelope with a note that says, “Please explain,” and wait for them to make the next move.

Their next move is to send another bill with a late fee tacked on.

I shout curse words involuntarily at my work computer (there are a couple programs that just don’t play well with the operating system). My surrounding coworkers are collateral damage. This would happen even if my coworkers were children.

I swear like a sailor, but the rule I follow, and the one I’ve taught my kids, is that there’s a huge difference between swearing at things or events and swearing at people. If you engage in the latter, be prepared to accept the consequences.

I have failed my dear friend George by being swayed to buy A&H litter because it was on a discount. Well, 2 days later and he won’t open his right eye and I believe it’s the litter. He is very peeved. I’ve purchased the Best Cat Litter In The World ( or something), it is corn based and seems to have little in the way of dust. Poop my good friend, for I shall try to redeem myself.

Gah. I ran into someone of FB who argues like Jonah Goldberg, redefining things to suit his preferred conclusion, then using those redefined terms to reach the preferred conclusion. Sadly, I allowed myself to get sucked in.

How soon before Trump unloads on Mitt and Bill Kristol using his twitter bazooka?

He’ll call them silly names and they will go down in flames. More establishment types eaten alive by the Trump.

Pray for them. There are political deaths going on.

I buy A&H unscented scooping litter for my Halley. The quality consistency on this litter is pretty bad (this last batch is really dusty), but almost everything else I tried was worse. I’ve never tried the ‘Best’ brand though.

I go with the ‘Best,’ and it has been worth it. With multiple cats, it’s important!

Yeah I had it switched around, it’s called “World’s Best Cat Litter”. Giving it a shot. With other litters, he gets a little eye irritation when it’s fresh out of the bag and recovers right away. Not with this A&H, sadly.

Hell, creationists do that all the time.

Pretty much. It’s what I mentioned on the previous thread, defining ‘belief system’ broadly enough that the term loses all utility, except to be able to call science a belief system. Generally people do this when they wish to elevate their own beliefs to the same level of authority as scientific inquiry, and/or drag science down to their level of lack of authority.

Inevitably they basically deny that things about the physical world are true or not independent of our opinion.

CR calls them “Recommended” but preferred the First Alert One Link models, which are cheaper. Difference appears to be low level CO detection, which was better in the FA models.

They obviously recognize that science is inherently a better source of knowledge than their religious text of choice.

The entire FB experience is like that, which is one of the reasons I closed my account ages ago. Even now, when I have to go on there with one of my boss’ accounts, it seems every bit as unintuitive & unnecessarily complicated as ever.
