Donald Trump Pretended to Be Someone Else to Brag About Himself to Reporters

Iframe

Good grief. The Washington Post has been doing some digging into the Donald, and this guy is seriously, deeply weird: Donald Trump masqueraded as publicist to brag about himself.

Some reporters found the calls from Miller or Barron disturbing or even creepy; others thought they were just examples of Trump being playful. Today, as the presumptive Republican nominee for president faces questions about his attitudes toward women, what stands out to some who received those calls is Trump’s characterization of women who he portrayed as drawn to him sexually.

“Actresses,” Miller said in the call to Carswell, “just call to see if they can go out with him and things.” Madonna “wanted to go out with him.” And Trump’s alter ego boasted that in addition to living with Maples, Trump had “three other girlfriends.”

Miller was consistent about referring to Trump as “he,” but at one point, when asked how important Bruni was in Trump’s busy love life, the spokesman said, “I think it’s somebody that — you know, she’s beautiful. I saw her once, quickly, and beautiful . . . ” and then he quickly pivoted back into talking about Trump — then a 44-year-old father of three — in the third person.

In 1990, Trump testified in a court case that “I believe on occasion I used that name.” He did not respond to a request for comment for this article.

Read the whole disturbing thing.

Meanwhile, Trump is of course denying the Post’s story, but we already know he’s a continual, pathological liar.

More than 30 Republican lawmakers, strategists and commentators — who have had some strongly worded statements against Trump — already had joined the resistance before Indiana’s decisive primary. Faced with Trump’s presumptive nomination, will they reverse course and support him, or stay true to #NeverTrump? Will Never Trumpers vote for a Democratic nominee, write in a candidate, or not vote at all? Some have already decided. An asterisk denotes a new addition, and MSNBC will continue to update the list. — Kasie Hunt contributed reporting.

Tonald Drump just called. He stated he’s the GOP nominee’s executive spokesperson and that Mr. Trump has stated repeatedly that he’d provide yuge tax cuts for everyone and that he’ll deliver on those promises.

But when asked about releasing his tax returns, Mr. Drump stated that the phone line was breaking up with static, though I am thoroughly convinced he was simply rubbing together a couple sheets of aluminum foil next to the receiver.

Here’s Mrs. Fish’s concern: That it’ll be “easier” for perverts to do perverted things, because they can simply claim that they’re transgendered and seek shelter under the new equality provisions. She claims that the new law would simply ensure that there’s a law on the books to throw at these types if they get caught.

Those laws already exist. Doing perverted things is already illegal. Transgender people have existed for a long time and have been using restrooms for a while. You can’t do something “perverted” just because you’re transgender whatever “perverted” means.

I had forgotten this, Virginia actually allows people to update their registered gender:

What is the procedure to update a birth certificate after having Gender Reassignment Surgery?

A certified copy of a court order indicating the correct gender to be listed on the birth certificate. In addition to the certified court order, the petition/application (showing the identifying facts of birth - name at birth, date of birth, place of birth and name of parents) must also be submitted. If the name has legally been changed, a certified copy of the court order along with the petition/application (showing the identifying facts of birth - name at birth, date of birth, place of birth and name of parents) must be submitted to this office. The fee is $12 for one copy of the birth record and a fee of $10 is charged for making the amendment to the record.

WaPo has come up with a Trump spokesman name generator.

Glad people and the media are spending their time on these frivolous things. Makes the Friday go faster.

Once again, Trump says or does something that would otherwise destroy a campaigning candidate for President chances for winning and the country merely shrugs its shoulders?

Aw, that’s just Donny being Donny.

Seriously. The guy lies about everything. He acts like a sociopath. He hires sociopaths and refuses to fire people who engage in assault (Lewandowski). His character and judgment are beyond the pale - to the point where it’s not clear that his advisers can get security clearances. His policies are all but written on paper napkins and his tax policy would essentially add 50% to the national debt and no one on the right is clamoring that the guy is fiscally irresponsible (because they love them some tax cuts too and all the other GOPers offered up similarly awful tax plans).

He offers up building a wall w/Mexico without any idea of how to do it other than platitudes that he’ll get Mexico to pay for it through some hand waving.

He wants to ban Muslims from entering the US.

The area where he’s most coherent w/ formed policies are the ones engaging racist and white supremacist support to the highest degree.

This birth certificate business is total nonsense, and I’d be surprised if even the wingnuts take it seriously.

The net effect of the NC bathroom bill is to encourage every knuckle-dragging bigoted oxygen thief in the state to set up shop as a “promotion of virtues and prevention of vices” vigilante.

The few wingnuts capable of foreseeing this consequence approve of this dangerous and violent idiocy. The rest are content with hooting and hollering about how they are defending God and Country from the hated liberals.

The GOP keeps looking for ways to save money. Eliminating the SSS (Selective Service) would do that - eliminating a minor agency with no tangible benefit to the nation given that the DoD doesn’t think much of conscription - they want professional soldiers, not people forced into service.

The only reason it still exists is really inertia and that young men 18-25 must register as precondition for getting financial aid and other services.

Any Outback drivers here? If so, and you’re driving an Outback made this year, you might want to pay attention:

Drivers with cars made after February 29 of this year should not drive the car at all due to a steering column defect. The company will send tech staff out to inspect your vehicle - they don’t even want you driving the car into them to have them checked. About 20k vehicles are affected that have already been sold to customers.

I’ve got a couple of recall notices on the car, plus a TSB for a windshield issue. The recall items are fairly minor - computer software fixes for the emergency brake (which if you do certain acts within a certain time, it could cause the brake to lockup and freeze the brake in place requiring replacement of major components), or an issue with their EyeSight system that could crop up if one of the brake lights goes out.

This one is a substantial problem, which I read was the result of an improperly calibrated torque wrench.

You’ll see if you can ride her
Hold on tight

Laugh, cry
Everyone has to die
Laugh, cry
Live your life, enjoy it all.

Everything is so relative
It’s not that I remember, but that I don’t forget
That’s what grace is, remembering without regret
Hold on tight, and don’t let go.

Laugh, cry
Everyone has to die
Laugh, cry
Live your life, enjoy it all.

Laugh, cry
Live your life, enjoy it all

WaPo has come up with a Trump spokesman name generator.

Glad people and the media are spending their time on these frivolous things. Makes the Friday go faster.

This is probably the best way to deal with him: unabashed ridicule. Call it the South Park Treatment (speaking of, I really hope they’re back before the election). I think Trump would be more prone to blow a gasket if more people treated him like the clown he is. After all, treating him like a “real” politician hasn’t worked thus far

Holy Christ, I just realized. Donald Trump, official candidate for a major political party and potential electee to the highest office in the Executive Branch of this country, is nothing but a dirty, low-down, third-rate troll.

And the kicker is, his trolling was misogynist in nature. He just can’t help himself.

Totally agree… This is why comedy is either terrible or outright banned under dictatorships. Won’t it be a shock when right-wingers discover that mockery (not guns) is the best weapon against tyranny?

Trump is simply the most flawed presidential candidate in the history of this country, and the RWNJs will lower the bar over and over and over to defend him. Conservatives have no business running for office or voting for people for office.

Makes me almost think George W. Bush was a great choice by comparison.

re: #65 Not a Sparkly Vampire

Most amusing.

You couldn’t write the Donald Trump character into a fictional book. The character would not be believed, people would say they’d have to suspend disbelief far too much to make it fictionally plausible.

And yet some Americans are perfectly fine with proceeding with this bozo as a legitimate candidate.

Conclusion: You also couldn’t write this presidential campaign season as a work of fiction for the same reasoning.

It is one reason I gave up reading fiction. Studying real people and reading biographies is more fun.

LOL, Geller is furious (I know, it’s her standard operating mode). I’m not a big HuffPo fan, but the title “The Huffington Post Whores for the Hijab” is just a wee bit over the top. (I’m not gonna link to Breitbart—Google it if you want to read her ravings.)

The first two paragraphs of the HuffPo piece talks about the New York Times’ recent guide to Muslim headscarves and the current political climate:

In light of this, The Huffington Post asked women from all over the Internet to show just how beautifully diverse the hijab can be using the hashtag #HijabToMe. By showing the many different ways women choose to tie their hijab and the various meanings it takes for them, we hope to offer readers a glimpse into the diversity of Muslim women who don the headscarf. Muslim women were asked to post a picture of themselves along with a brief description of what wearing the hijab means to them.

huffingtonpost.com

Is HuffPo trying to sucker people into believing Muslim hijabis have varying reasons for wearing hijab and that each woman is a unique individual, not part of some mindless, faceless, subjugated monolith? The horror!! //

The article is followed by a dozen or more photos of Muslim women of various ethnicities, no two of whom are wearing their headscarves in exactly the same manner or for exactly the same reason. It would be really nice if people stopped making ignorant assumptions based on what the media (usually) feeds them, especially when looking at American Muslim women. Don’t try to cram us into a contexts that belong to completely different cultures than the one we live in.

I still think, on some level, that Trump is going to do something - probably on the debate stage with Clinton (or maybe during his acceptance speech in Cleveland) that just completely shocks everyone. I like #11, “Signs in the sun, moon, and stars in fulfillment of Luke 21:25.” This cites astronomical events that are literally as predictable as the sun rising in the east.

Anyone know how many non-Westerners were killed in terrorist attacks from Monday, May 9 through today, May 13? Yeah, I didn’t either till about 5 minutes ago, when I went to go check & tally up the numbers: It was 161 (1 was a Ukrainian soldier in the Donbass region, and 1 was a Russian policeman in Grozny—don’t know if you want to count them as Westerners). The other 159 were from Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria.

I’m gonna guess that most of the victims were Muslim, given the locations. But, hey, let’s sleep with the lights on and be afraid/suspicious of all Muslims because the RWNJs say we should. Sorry for being Debbie Downer, but I’m gonna start doing this every Friday until Election Day in November so that we all (including me) stay aware of facts.

I don’t think I’m preaching to the choir. I wasn’t aware of the numbers—were you?

I get what you mean in the sense that most people here are aware that the primary victims are of terrorism are Muslims, but I think it’s good for everyone to be reminded of just how many lives are brutally, intentionally snuffed out each week as we sit here in comfort gabbing on our computers. Real lives, different from ours in some ways, yet not different at all in others, like 6-year-old Yaqeen who lived in Baghdad:

A grandfather’s grief on the bloodiest day Baghdad has seen in months

“We looked for her after the blast, but we couldn’t find her anywhere,” said Hussein Ali, Yaqeen’s grandfather, as he showed a creased picture of a little girl wearing dark blue leotards over white stockings. “She had gone to buy biscuits or something from the market.”

Around him, the men of the family sat on the sidewalk, their demeanor lethargic and eyes red from grief.

“We were going to go register her for school,” Ali said, his voice a steady monotone.

A moment passed before one man broke down and began to sob. Others soon joined in. […]

The Boston bombing was a big deal. Awful. When far bigger attacks happen in Muslim/Persian/Arab lands our media spends little time on it. It’s as if those lives are not worth our time or sympathy apart from 120 seconds at six pm. Or a short blurb and small headline on a major news site.

if we had the sense to value those lives as our own, images like the one cited above I pushed back on a bit would get no traction. And a car bomb in Iraq would be bigger news for more than just critics of our policy there.

What I have learned about security lines, if you are disabled, you get wheeled to the front of the security line and the wheelchair pusher assists you in getting through the xray, unpacking and packing up your stuff for you.

The downside is that being disabled (like, all the time) sucks.

I have heard that some abled people become “temporarily disabled” in order to get wheelchaired through TSA and through the long airport corridors. I think this is OK as long as they tip the wheelchair pusher $50.

*SIGH* Thanks for trying. Which reminds me of one other article I meant to bring up about a favorite topic of Islamophobes—FGM. Again, oddly enough, from HuffPo:

• 80% of Muslims around the world do not practice FGM.

• Islam advocates women’s rights to sexual pleasure.

• The prophet Mohamed did not have his daughters undergo FGM.

• FGM is practiced within all religions. To be more specific, it’s practiced by Christians, Muslims, Jews, animists and non-believers.

• FGM precedes all major religions as it was a practice that first started in Pharaonic Egypt.

• FGM depends on the traditions practiced by communities, rather than on the religion of a community group - for example, in the Niger 55% of Christians are affected by FGM, compared to 2% of Muslims.

huffingtonpost.co.uk

More on the author, Leyla Hussein, who was herself a victim of FGM. Googling her name will turn up lots of other info—she’s pretty outspoken.

re: #20 thedopefishlives

Here’s Mrs. Fish’s concern: That it’ll be “easier” for perverts to do perverted things, because they can simply claim that they’re transgendered and seek shelter under the new equality provisions. She claims that the new law would simply ensure that there’s a law on the books to throw at these types if they get caught.

Mrs. Fish needs to look at the number of pervo preachers who get arrested every week. I pulled up two, just from the state of Arkansas, just from this week.

Pervo preacher exchanging child porn on Twitter:
arkansasonline.com

Pastor accused of sexually assaulting teen congregation members

arkansasonline.com

Remember, innocent until proven guilty, etc., etc., but this is just two examples, from one state, in one week. A child is FAR MORE LIKELY to be sexually assaulted in a house of religion than in a restroom where there’s a transgender person in the next stall.

One of my friends who was out visiting this week is a big birder. (Is that the proper term?)

Anyway, she saw a condor today. I got a nice text in all caps.

We saw a whale on Wednesday too. And seals. Pretty nice wildlife trip for her.

A couple of weeks back, I saw the male of one of the pairs in a field just up the road from my house. He was descending in a stiff breeze, not moving anywhere, just slowly coming straight down with his big wings spread out. It would have made for a phenomenal action shot.

Couple of years ago I saw an eagle. From a distance you could tell it was no ordinary bird, and then it just sort of opened its wings and glided over to a pond and tried to take a swipe at a heron (who I swear said “Fuck off”). Hardly even flapped its wings. Magnificent.

When my mom and dad come north for their fishing vacation, we always play Spot the Eagles when we’re out in the boat. One time we actually saw one make a bombing run at a fish. He was just kinda hanging around up above the lake, then all of a sudden he was in a full dive, then he opened up the dive brakes and lifted off and swooped away to a nearby tree. I’m guessing his chosen prey must’ve gotten disturbed somehow.

There are eagles nesting within the city of St. Paul too. One of the nests is just across Warner Road from a MN DNR regional office, so they’ve set up an EagleCam that’s been in operation for years. The ‘babies’ are getting pretty big and you can tell that it’s kind of a cold and miserable here today.

We have bald eagles that nest here, but I got to see a golden back in 1980. He looked a bit tattered, so must have gotten really blown off course! I was sitting underneath him, watching him drift in slow circles, and one of our rough legged hawks (our biggest) went up to check him out. A rough legged is a big bird, but he would have fit entirely in one wing of the golden.

We also had an old friend, sadly no longer with us, who routinely rode on horseback around the mountains outside Los Angeles, and he said one day he smelled something awful, and heard a sound like a jet engine trying to rev up. It turned out a cow had died in a patch of very thick brush, and his riding by spooked two condors and six golden eagles away from their meal. What that would have been to have seen!

I’m guessing it’s similar to how many times phone numbers now start with 555-something today.

I’m way late on this, but I’m only halfway down the page. KL5- or 555- (same thing) is a forbidden prefix. I don’t know why, originally.) Nobody’s phone number is 555-anything. That’s why they use it in TV and movies.

Can’t go back too far—I remember when our prefix went from “Gladstone” to
