A Ringing Endorsement From Melania Trump: “He’s Not Hitler”

What a slogan
Politics • Views: 57,603

So at least Donald Trump has this going for him.

Melania Trump also said Donald Trump shares no similarity with Nazi leader Adolf Hitler after proposing a temporary ban on Muslims entering the U.S.

“We know the truth,” she said of the GOP’s presumptive presidential nominee. “He’s not Hitler.”

It does make for a very catchy new campaign slogan, don’t you think?

It’s true. Adolf Hitler could give a damn tight speech, not mumble and bumble about lemme tell ya folks, people tell me, Donald, that wall, the wall just got ten feet higher, believe me, you build all the best walls.

You thought Newt Gingrich was what a dumb person thinks a smart person sounds like, shit, he’s got nothing on Trump.

Great. So on the one hand we have Trump, who wants to make it easier to sue news media organizations for less-than-favorable articles. And on the other we have Mrs. Trump, who excuses viciously antisemitic death threats because her fans were ‘provoked’. And on the third hand, we have Roger Stone, Trump’s ratfucker, saying Trump should use the FCC to put CNN out of business.

Great. Just fucking great.

Trump said the United States is treated unfairly in the Paris climate accord, which prescribes reductions in carbon emissions by more than 170 countries. A renegotiation of the pact would be a major setback for what was hailed as the first truly global climate accord, committing both rich and poor nations to reining in the rise in greenhouse gas emissions blamed for warming the planet.

Turning to the economy, Trump said he planned to release a detailed policy platform in two weeks. He said it would dismantle nearly all of Dodd-Frank, a package of financial reforms put in place after the 2007-2008 financial crisis.

“I would say it’ll be close to a dismantling of Dodd-Frank. Dodd-Frank is a very negative force, which has developed a very bad name,” Trump said.

Me: “Hey guys, this process didn’t work. Someone changed the settings and didn’t tell the team, so we’ll need to do this again.”

Team Lead: “Did you follow the procedures?”

Me: “Do you mean did I let the scans you set up run? Yes, they ran. The problem was someone removed the reports we needed. We’ll need to rerun the scans because you can’t generate them afterwards.

Team Lead: “Oh, you can. Here are the steps for how to do it!”

Me: “This would be the series of steps I wrote up previously and sent out to the team, saying this won’t work with all the reports we need to generate.”

Team Lead: “Yeah! Did you try these yet?”

Me: “… Yes.”

Team Lead: “So what’s the problem?”

Me: “These would be the reports you can’t use the manual report procedure on.”

Team Lead: “So what do we have to do?”

Me: “Run it again, like I said 10 minutes ago.”

The chair allowed its Credentials Committee to en mass rule that 64 delegates were ineligible without offering an opportunity for 58 of them to be heard. That decision enabled the Clinton campaign to end up with a 30-vote majority.

Twenty minutes until the first Kentucky polls close.

Five Thirty Eight set targets for each candidate for each primary, revised the Democratic targets on March 30, and revised them again on April 26. Here are their targets for tonight:

Kentucky Original: Sanders 28, Clinton 27.
First Revision: Sanders 33, Clinton 22.
Second Revision: Sanders 36, Clinton 19. (ie, Sanders must win by about 66-34)

Oregon Original: Sanders 37, Clinton 24.
First Revision: Sanders 45, Clinton 16.
Second Revision: Sanders 49, Clinton 12. (ie, Sanders must win by about 80-20)

Note: Sanders has already fallen about 15 delegates off the pace for his Second Revision in Indiana, Guam, West Virginia, and Nevada, so his real targets are even further in nosebleed territory.

You have my sympathy, especially after explaining to my boss, yet again, that you can’t call an Assay a “Screening Assay” if you are not willing to use it to make decisions, especially if 1) you’re not sure that the Assay will work at all with the kind of samples you have to test at this stage and 2) you’re not sure what the Assay tests is actually a criterion for the product you want.

Oh, and reality isn’t stopping Shaun King from claiming that Bernie should stick it out to the end, just like Hillary did.

Facts and history are an inconvenient fact to Shaun. At no time in 2008 did Hillary fall anywhere near as far behind as Bernie has (he’s currently ~280 behind excluding superdelegates. With supers? He’s 767 behind with the supers. Hillary is just 143 from outright nomination including the supers.

Hillary was only 147 delegates behind at the end, and there were questions about how MI and FL would be counted due to their actions to break out of the delegate calendar. The popular vote was close, and the supers were nearly evenly split.

Bernie’s 3.1 million popular votes behind. Bernie isn’t the popular choice for Democrats.

And now you’ve got his supporters going on a rip roaring rampage in Nevada because their actions ratified results from months earlier showing Hillary with the edge. And his supporters ignore the math and that the history doesn’t support him either.

I honestly don’t have a problem with Sanders staying in the race. I DO have a problem with him condoning and encouraging his followers delusions that 1) he has a chance in hell of winning, and 2) that if he doesn’t, it was stolen from him. I honestly don’t have a problem with Sanders staying in the race. I DO have a problem with him condoning and encouraging his followers delusions that 1) he has a chance in hell of winning, and 2) that if he doesn’t, it was stolen from him. He might not like the rules, but they weren’t put there by Hillary to ensure her coronation, and unlike the GOP Primary rules, they weren’t changed to unfairly advantage a frontrunner.

I’m not even sure Sanders knows why he’s still in the race. It looks like everybody’s too wound up in the wheeee revolution and personal adulation and OMG RULEZ CHEATING to really have any sort of cohesive strategy at this point.

Which is another seriously disqualifying characteristic for a guy running for president, but what can you do.

Something to learn for next time for both parties- never allow a fringe candidate on the ballot with the logic of “what’s the worst that could happen?”

There have been fringe candidates in every election cycle - Gary Bauer, Alan Keyes, Dennis Kucinich, Ron Paul, etc, etc, etc. There were other problems for each party this year. The Democrats didn’t have anyone else to run besides Clinton, had their been a third candidate that drew maybe 20-30% early on, Sanders would have been an after thought. On the Republican side, they had too big of a field and the establishment failed to rally around one particular candidate early enough. Really, what you want is 2-3 viable candidates and maybe 1-2 outliers that can get beat handily so you can tell the true believers that those guys are too extreme to win. Basically, you want something like the 2008 fields.

I agree. I guess my point was the narrative is BERNIE’S DIFFERENT when he’s actually a lot like a left wing version of Cruz and Ron Paul. And you’re right. He’s an independent because he only cares about Bernie Sanders. One of the Bernie supporters I know posted a video of Obama campaigning for him. It’s plain and simple to me. Bernie would have gotten more superdelegate support if he had shown any willingness throughout his long career to work for the election of other people. He hasn’t shown that ergo why even many of the more progressive SDs have gone to Clinton. That’s not corruption. That’s human nature. Bernie has isolated himself in Vermont the past few decades. Maybe if he got out more, he’d realize that a lot of people would be willing to work with him if he weren’t so goddamned full of himself.

I think we have a lot of complicated political figures in American history. I’ve found many of them interesting, I’ve read a lot on Reagan (who I’ve found interesting since I was a kid during his administration), Goldwater though I haven’t read much about. But I suspect he probably falls into that complicated category. Which is tough for most of us to accept because he like our heroes to be perfect and our villains to be terrible.

Yeah that’s very true. I just can’t forgive Goldwater for opposing the CRA-1964. I don’t put him in the league of George Wallace since I realize the man wasn’t a bigot like the LBJ campaign portrayed him to be but I do believe like many conservatives of his generation like Reagan whom you brought up, he was guilty of being indifferent to racism.

gotta mix it with sugar

I did the sugar water solution last time, because I couldn’t put it down in powder form (their entrance route meant the cats could get at anything I did).

There’s a line of boric acid down outside, where they’re coming through. The feeders have been moved to the backyard, where I will get to empty and clean them. I have mopped the floor and killed an awful lot of ants.

Will make up a vinegar/water mix to spray down the doorway area, but I will probably end up hitting Home Depot for some of the serious grade stuff you can use to “paint” around the doorway on the exterior. I HATE dealing with this, and my options indoors are limited by the cats, so I don’t fool around when it comes to going to war outdoors.

My house growing up was staunchly Republican (there’s a picture of me at age 2 with a Reagan Bush sticker on my shirt). Part of it is one side of the family being Cuban. Another part is my parents being small business owners. And another part is probably just the time period (Reagan won big, after all). But I’ve always had a fairly strong libertarian* streak which apparently makes me more liberal than most of my relatives. But it’s mostly that I am not instinctively anti-Democrat.

Been that way for a while. The actual reporters are doing the best they can, but the market forces are inexorable. ABC bought by Cap Cities bought by Disney. NBC - Universal - Comcast.

Each time one media company gets gobbled up/merges with another, the way this is done is via that magic debt fairy (or in bloodless corp-speak, “leverage”). So the new entity has big-ass debt payments to make to the bankers. Only way to do that is to squeeze the living fuck out of the new giant entity to make the mortgage payments. Thus: dumb down to appeal to these guys:

What this man is interested in drives what you see on CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, etc. etc.

Court throws out loitering conviction against man who carried AR-15 rifle near school

Advocates for the open carry of guns won another court victory Tuesday, when an appellate court threw out a loitering conviction against a man cited for walking around with an AR-15 rifle on his shoulder near a school.

“We are pleased the Court of Appeals recognized that merely carrying a firearm, with nothing more, cannot constitute an offense in Wisconsin,” said John Monroe, who represented Mark Hoffman.

Hoffman was among those gun owners who actively test law enforcement’s understanding of carry laws, often while producing hidden recordings of their encounters.

Hoffman, 26, took a walk in July 2013 around the Village of Somerset, carrying his loaded rifle, a handgun in a hip holster, and a hidden voice recorder.

Are any of you now worrying about riots at the Dem convention by the Bernbutts if Saint Bernie doesn’t get the nomination?

I wasn’t until a bit earlier when I still had MSNBC on and I think I heard them say that Sanders campaign chairman Jeff Weaver said something like the violence that happened in Nevada should be a sign to the DNC that it could happen in Philadelphia.

Sure did sound like the smooth-headed ex-marine was doing a little threatening.

Of course that would be the violence they are saying never happened, etc.

Even heard Nina Turner claim she wasn’t booed and that the police were already there intimidating the Sanders attendees.

I get the feeling all of the Sanders people are doing stuff on their own and Bernie has no real control over his staff.

They’ve openly threatened to risk minorities lives like pawns if they don’t get their way and then act surprised when minorities didn’t vote how they wished. Then, when this basic flaw in their communication strategy is pointed out and they’re given an opportunity to reflect and improve, they concoct imaginary conspiracy theories to explain their losses instead.

I have never in my life had more contempt for the American far left. I used to consider myself extremely progressive, and general still do, but if progressive now means cynically exposing others to real, promised harm in order to effect some nebulously defined revolution, you can count me out.
