Ivanka Trump’s Ringing Endorsement of Dad: “He’s Not a Groper”

Or Hitler
Politics • Views: 57,469

Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka joins Donald’s wife Melania today with another ringing endorsement of her father: “He’s not a groper.”

“I’m not in every interaction my father has, but he’s not a groper. It’s not who he is,” she said.

You’ve got to admit, the women in the Trump family have a real knack for coining campaign slogans.

Hey, if they keep coming up with these encomia, they’ll end up as a ringing endorsement!

(Edit: actually all this demonstrates is that he’s never groped his daughter.)

I think she’s being misquoted. So many people said his mouth looks like a fish, that she felt the need to defend him - “He’s not a Grouper!”

6
lawhawk  May 18, 2016 • 11:16:29am

He’s not a groper.

You’ve got to hand it to Trump. He’s no Hitler.

These things write themselves. Thanks. And tip your wait staff.

On a more serious note, AP reports that Trump’s released his list of potential Supreme Court nominees. There’s no actual list provided. Trump’s dodged on this for months.

Same with his tax returns.

This is what Trump does. Dodge and weave to avoid any scrutiny. The guy is a creep, who engages in demagoguery, and his supporters lap it up without any hesitation. They don’t care that his tax policies would screw them royally. Or that his immigration policy including THE WALL are unworkable. He’s the kind of tin pot dictator that they think they need to “make America great again.”

They are the collective old men yelling at the television because their entitlement to rights they take for granted is now being shared with everyone else. They no longer can discriminate the way they used to, so they’re going off the rails exposing their bigotry and hate for all to see. Trump enabled that - but it’s always been an undercurrent with the GOP and right wing generally.

Total BS. Our Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court isn’t on the list, and he’s about to be available—again.

And no sooner had I finished the last comment,

“Trump’s picks include Steven Colloton of Iowa, Allison Eid of Colorado and Raymond Gruender of Missouri. Also on the list are: Thomas Hardiman of Pennsylvania, Raymond Kethledge of Michigan, Joan Larsen of Michigan, Thomas Lee of Utah, William Pryor of Alabama, David Stras of Minnesota, Diane Sykes of Wisconsin and Don Willett of Texas.”

Of that list of names, Pryor stands out as he was floated during the GWB nominations processes. Sykes’ name sounds familiar, but I’d have to check on the others.

Bernie really is an asshole.

. Sanders was always full of himself: pious, self-righteous and utterly humorless. Burdened by the cross of his socialist crusade, he was a scold whose counter-culture moralizing appealed to the state’s liberal sensibilities as well as its conservatives, who embraced his gun ownership stance, his defense of individual rights, an antipathy toward big corporations and, generally speaking, his stick-it-to-them approach to politics

[…]

After discussing his favorite issues — corporations, government reform, health care and the like, I asked about his unwillingness to endorse his fellow progressives. He said it wasn’t his role. I suggested voters might expect him to weigh in. He disagreed, clearly annoyed at the persistent questioning. Finally I suggested that he had a larger moral responsibility to the progressive movement.

At which point he jumped out of his seat, told me to go f*** myself and stormed out of the edit board meeting.

“At his best, Sanders is a skilled reader and manipulator of people and events,” Rosenfeld wrote in his account of the campaign. “At his worst, he falls prey to his own emotions, is unable to practice what he preaches (though he would believe otherwise) and exudes a contempt for those he derides, including his staff.”

Especially since the GOP is taking the following positions:

1) cannibalizing Ebola research funding to do Zika research;
2) demanding Obamacare funding cuts in exchange for Zika research;
3) refusing to fund Zika research independent of any other funding limits.

All three positions, when taken together show that the GOP is a know-nothing party that doesn’t care about the general welfare or that public health is threatened. They simply want to destroy Obamacare by any means necessary, and Ebola is out of the headlines so they think that’s worthy of a cut too (though it just as easily can reemerge).

My suspicion was that he resented others for assuming his mantle of progressive leadership and wouldn’t acknowledge them.
I said that last night and I have to agree. I think Bernie relies on a narrative of him against the system and if others join in to help him, it ruins that narrative. It’s a shame. I negatively compared Bernie with Senator Warren last night citing that Warren is someone who really values working as a team to accomplish good. IT seems to me that it’s the total opposite with Bernie.

I won’t insult with a MBF here but let me say frankly that Bernie to me shares a lot of attributes that make Ted Cruz unlikable to his colleagues and that’s not something I want in a President. Bernie loves to cite FDR but he ignores that FDR was able to work with a wide range of people. Bernie really is that guy who has his mind made up and don’t even thinking about starting to attempt to change his mind. That to me is not a virtuous trait and it sure as hell isn’t presidential.

Women can’t storm out of things, or people would think they were unstable.

In this case I am getting the message that one Bernie Sanders is unstable. And it is no longer in the think category…it is fact confirmed by his own actions. Yesterday was very telling.

The guy in now plain dangerous. I hope the democratic party can start to figure out a plan to undo the damage he has done and will continue to do. Even if they shuffle him off to not be seen he is going to fuck with everything up until November.

I get the feeling somewhere in that messed up head of his he thinks he can use his fervent supporters as an army to get some measure of revolution no matter what. At this point I almost expect him to go independent. I saw the comment earlier about Nina Turner saying he may consider an independent run. I do believe he will.

By the way…this whole election is getting really depressing. Our country is losing it’s mind. I had to give up on any political news last night it was just getting to be too much. So I went and watched the Cleveland Cavs game with a friend. When I got back in I didn’t even care to see the primary results from yesterday. This morning the first thing I hear is Bernie gloating in his speech about winning Oregon and I found out I no longer count as a democrat, a progressive a liberal. I no longer count at all…because I don’t buy into Bernie. Fuck that old goat. Grrrrrr.

Honestly, I’ve never been a big fan of Wall Street but their constant demonizing of anyone even associated with banking is really starting to piss me off. Will Bernie Sanders burn it all down?

I asked Devine: If Clinton wins the nomination after all the votes have been cast, will Sanders issue an unequivocal declaration that the outcome was legitimate?

“We’re still involved in this process, so it’s hard for me to declare what’s going to happen at the end,” Devine said. “As we look forward, there are a lot of issues of deep concern.”

Devine cited the DNC’s appointment of former Rep. Barney Frank as the chairman of the Democratic National Convention’s Rules Committee and the appointment of Connecticut governor Dan Malloy as the co-chair of the Platform Committee, arguing that both had been “partisan” in their “attacks” on Sanders.

“If we’re going to talk about the fairness of the process, we should look at the people who are charged with responsibility of administering the process,” Devine continued. “It’s hard for us to pronounce the process fair when you have committee chairs who have been overt partisans who attacked Senator Sanders in a way that’s way beyond support of Secretary Clinton.”

The Sanders campaign had previously criticized these appointments, but in our interview, Devine went further, suggesting that the Sanders camp might have to see them pulled as chairs in order to view the process as legitimate.

“To have chairs of committees who have not been overt partisans attacking Senator Sanders [would be] a very positive step in terms of building trust and good will between the campaigns,” Devine said.

good freaking grief.
What a bunch of crybabies.

Are there some shady bankers? Yes. Does Wall Street need to be regulated? Hell yes. Does working on Wall Street mean you’re a terrible person who wants to screw working people over and means you moonlight as Patrick Bateman? Nope. Honestly, I’ll stand up for my bank here but when I’ve had problems, CapitalOne’s employees have always been very helpful. That doesn’t mean rah rah go banking but it’s an acknowledgement that there are human beings who work in the banking industry and a good amount of them aren’t terrible people. I hate the GOP/right demonizing federal employees and I don’t think it’s right for the left to do the same to people in banking.

Because it’s not like Trump would say ANYTHING to close the deal, right?

That’s what kills me. For months all I’ve heard is how full of shit Trump is, how he’s not conservative, how he’s a disaster for the Republicans, etc. Suddenly folks go to the Texas GOP convention, then see this list and now Trump isn’t that bad.

Fuck everything. I’m just going to vote for Hillary and hope that the country doesn’t burn to the ground in November.

I was realizing today that Bernie is like Dr. William Haber in Ursula LeGuin’s book ‘The Lathe of Heaven’. He’s a guy who thinks that if he could make his dreams come true, he could single-handedly create a perfect world. It doesn’t actually turn out all that well for Dr. Haber…

Hillary isn’t exactly George Orr, but at least she realizes that everything is connected.

I’ve never read that book but that sounds about right to me.

Nice Grandpa Bernie Sanders Gonna BURN YOUR SH*T DOWWWWWN

Wonkette has been officially neutral in the Democratic primary, until now. (We know, angry commenters; Wonkette says it has been neutral but has been a reliable source of bought-and-paid-for neoliberal corporate piece of shit one-percenter shilling for a mass murderer who will be arrested for “emails” any day now. Fair enough!)

But if your “revolution” includes disinformation, aimed to rile up your supporters, that would make Pravda and Ronald Reagan blush, you can make like your healthcare, and keep it!

(Also, if you consider Barbara Boxer, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Dolores Huerta, Planned Parenthood, Emily’s List, Barney Frank, Harry Reid and John Lewis to be Enemies of your State, you probably need to sit down with a mug of Ovaltine and give your animal farm and Four Legs Bad Two Legs Better a super double plus good unthink.)

Before you tell us to WATCH THE VIDEOS — we have. They don’t show the blinding righteousness of your side that you think they do. What they show to most of us is the kind of screaming, violent temper tantrum for not getting your way — which happens sometimes in a democracy, or even a republic! — that is turning you into nihilist shitbirds.

Donald Trump revealed Wednesday he would consider nominating Texas judge Don Willett to sit on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Willett is widely liked by conservatives, and was an adviser for George W. Bush. He was nominated to the Texas Supreme Court by Rick Perry in 2005, and has been re-elected twice.

But Willett is also the self-proclaimed Tweeter Laureate of Texas, and has spent the last year mocking Trump on Twitter.

But let’s have a look at Trump’s proposed SCOTUS nominees, shall we? Like this guy. He thinks the State has a compelling interest in preventing gays from having sex, to the extent that they could be jailed for consensual acts in the privacy of their homes. Imagine him replacing Breyer or Ginsburg, ruling in Obergefell, or Lawrence v Texas.

But sure, LGBT rights would be a good trade for the destruction of the DNC.

Millions of LinkedIn accounts hacked

Millions of LinkedIn users’ passwords leaked in a massive breach in 2012 have turned up for sale this week on a dark web market site for about 5 Bitcoin, or approximately $2,200. It was intially reported that the security breach affected only 6.5 million users, but media reports Wednesday said 167 million accounts had been leaked, including 117 million featuring both emails and encrypted passwords.

On a positive note, a guy familiar with Bernie’s career thinks that after the primaries he’ll make a deal and endorse Hillary:

I have no inside knowledge about what Sanders or his top aides are thinking right now. But judging from what I know of his career and background, and how he’s acted so far in this race, I find it hard to imagine that he will keep contesting the nomination all the way to the convention (or try to supplant the pledged delegate winner by lobbying superdelegates).

It seems more likely to me that if and when Hillary Clinton clinches a majority of pledged delegates — likely on June 7 — Sanders will reevaluate. He may hold out for a bit. He may play hardball. He may fight for concessions of some kind. But my guess is that he’ll end up endorsing her and focusing on the effort to stop Trump.

The reason the GOP is the mother lode of bigotry in the US is very simple.

Present-day GOP orthodoxy holds that government can’t do anything except fight wars and incarcerate criminals/black people. Government action to promote civil rights is definitely not acceptable to GOPers.

So the official party line is bigot-enabling, and it is a small step from that to full acceptance of all the bigoted bad crazy.

Bernie Sanders is NOT damaging our chances in November! Jesus - are we that insecure about our eventual nominee that we have to make excuses for her possible loss six months in advance? She’s been the defacto nominee for the Democrats since 2013, or have we forgotten that? A few weeks of dudebros acting like dicks before the primaries end isn’t going to kill her with the voters. Most people don’t even pay attention to this shit…and you know why? Because it’s meaningless at this point.

Oh my god, Trump said something racist. Yeah, he’s a fucking asshole. He’ll still get 45% of the vote nationwide just for being a fucking white guy with the GOP nomination.

This race won’t be about a couple hundred assholes on Twitter (myself included, though I will say I don’t trash Hillary unnecessarily even if I might balk at shit now and then) who had a hard time letting go. I never expected Bernie to get above 10% against her. But then he did. And now that the race for 2383 is almost over - almost, not quite - everyone is so fucking afraid of a successful Hail Mary pass that they’re dying for him to quit. It’s not going to happen - the Hail Mary pass - so relax.

And for the record, I’m merely pointing out in those tweets that all of this shit is subject to change…especially shit Trump says. That isn’t excusing him. And it’s definitely not supporting him. It just is.

On a positive note, a guy familiar with Bernie’s career thinks that after the primaries he’ll make a deal and endorse Hillary:

vox.com

Let’s not make too big a thing of it, but it’s nearly unheard-of for a major candidate who drew a substantial fraction of the vote to reject the winner of the primary. Let’s not discount the possibility that Sanders will do so, but how about we not expect it either?

Losing sucks. It lowers people below themselves. We’re all human. Wake me up in June if the superdelegate badgering is proceeding apace.

It’d be fantastic if your I’m-going-to-run-a-positive-campaign candidate would stop lying to his supporters about how the system is rigged. Do you really consider telling lies like that to be harmless? If so, why?

Yes, he is. He’s lying to his more gullible, fanatical supporters by telling them he still has a chance to win. He is setting them up for a hard fall, straight up feeding them conspiracy theories about a rigged system that is unfairly robbing him of his rightful nomination. When he loses, and he absolutely knows that he will lose, he will have already filled many of his fans with an infantile, toxic disregard for the truth.

That is true as well. The irony of ironies here is that Sanders is acting a lot like Clinton did and why I was adamant that I did not want Clinton as Obama’s running mate in 2008 and why I was uneasy about making her SoS. I do hope that Bernie once the clock runs out will do a 180 here and do his best to stop Trump. Really, he’s shown what he can do against Clinton, focus that on Trump.

Bernie’s currently down 280. Not counting the supers.

The margin between Hillary and Obama in 2008 in the popular vote was pretty thin too.

And then there’s the question of FL and MI, which jumped the line in holding primaries, so saw their delegate counts get held up. That too affected the outcome, and gave reason for Hillary to wait to see how that’d shake out.

But she conceded well before the convention.

Bernie hasn’t had a chance since Super Tuesday, and his chance to win the nomination has seen the improbable converge with impossible. NY sealed it. Heck, Super Tuesday sealed it. But on we go.

Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Weaver smile or saying light about any of it. He may be humorless or take himself way too seriously.

Bernie clearly saw a little bit of him in Weaver. /

People who never expected Bernie to do this well have no idea how proportional delegate allocation actually works. This is what getting trounced looks like in a proportional system when the opposition party is only campaigning against the leading candidate. If we were running a winner take all system she would already have the majority of all possible pledged delegates.

There’s no metric by which Bernie would be doing better than he is now. His campaign’s trying to convince the national party to change the rules governing how much leeway superdelegates have to vote, wanting to divvy them up just like pledged delegates. But even if he got such a rule passed, he’d still not gain enough superdelegates to overcome her advantage.

Bernie Bros still want to believe that Bernie is “winning” the primaries, but a winning candidate does not engage in the behavior his campaign is. It doesn’t start fights over a handful of delegates. It doesn’t try an 11th hour push to alter the rules in ways that bring it closer to victory. And it sure as hell doesn’t spend its time spinning conspiracy theories to explain why it is so obviously losing.

This isn’t a “winning” campaign, this is a farce, a zombie that continues to lurch forward because the guy in charge doesn’t have the honor or the humility to put it down and admit he’s a failure.

That meme makes about as much sense as “What Wingnuts Actually Believe” which is Donald Trump took the “very, very small amount of $1 million” and worked so, so very hard digging little holes, carefully planting his dollars, watering and weeding the money trees and after so, so much hard, very hard, HARD WORK, harvesting the billions that grew on his lovingly tended money trees.

Oh my god, Trump said something racist. Yeah, he’s a fucking asshole. He’ll still get 45% of the vote nationwide just for being a fucking white guy with the GOP nomination.

I really have no idea how someone can hold both of those thoughts in their head simultaneously. If you believe the second part to be true, that Trump starts off automatically within 5% of victory, how in the hell can you think at this stage that fomenting disaffection with the Democratic Party and continuing to tear down Trump’s inevitable opponent is at all acceptable? Maybe it’s just me but espousing those two thoughts in consecutive sequence smacks of cognitive dissonance.

The Dem convention? There will be major problems. What we saw in Nevada will be child’s play compared to what Bernie and his supported have planned, I’m afraid.

Donald Trump’s Terrific List of Fabulous Judges

CATO’s Ilya Shapiro has a major orgasm over Trump’s selections:

Also notable and commendable is that 5 of the 11 are state supreme court justices; not all judicial talent is already on the federal bench and the U.S. Supreme Court could use that sort of different perspective. I’ll forego quibbling over this or that pick - whom to drop for a top 10 or 5, whom to add to round out to 15, whether Senator Mike Lee would be better than his brother - but want to emphasize that these are among the very best judges who are young and smart enough to be on the Court.

When there’s a solid majority opposed to you on a personal level, you have no leverage. You can’t win any votes that way.

As for his speech last night, it is uncomfortably reminiscent of George McGovern’s statement about his reforms, “I opened the doors of the Democratic Party - and twenty million people walked out.”

Depends on the size of the yard and how long it’s been left unmowed…

Quite small actually (trailer park) and it gets mowed weekly. Not to mention goats and sheep are quite capable of totally denuding an area they are confined in. One of the reasons behind the cattle/sheep ranchers wars in the old west. If they were not moved regularly, a herd of sheep would render large areas unfit for cattle or any other herbivore.

There’s lots of crap Bernie has done despite vowing that he’d run a positive campaign has shown him to be negative. re: #376 The Vicious Babushka

There isn’t any.
1) His tax plan would screw everyone but those who are rich like him.
2) His idea of helping workers is to go and strip them of minimum wage protections, leave it to the states to identify what they think the minimum wage should be (and for a bunch of states in the South, that’d mean no minimum wage).
3) He’s already shown disdain for American workers by choosing to have his clothing lines made in China and Mexico.
4) He talks about US jobs, but nothing he’s suggested would create a single job.
5) He’s for creating trade wars, which would end up costing everyone more for goods, many of which are made overseas.

Oh, he talks a lot, but when you listen, you see just how empty his rhetoric is. The scary part is none of his supporters care.
