Marco Rubio Apologized to Donald Trump, Has No Problem With His White Supremacist Fans

Craven
Politics • Views: 44,177

Of all the Republican #NeverTrump advocates who are now groveling at Trump’s feet, the most craven groveler has to be “Little Marco” Rubio, who went on CNN this morning and explained that he isn’t just a supporter now, he actually apologized for making fun of Trump’s tiny hands.

“I said, ‘You know, I’m sorry that I said that. It’s not who I am and I shouldn’t have done it.’ I didn’t say it in front of the cameras, I didn’t want any political benefit.”

In the full interview Rubio makes it clear that he has no scruples or principles left, he just wants the GOP to be in power and if that means Donald Trump, no problem.

But what about all those white nationalists and racists and hate groups Trump is legitimizing and bringing into the GOP fold?

Well, Marco dug down deep to find his core values, and came up with this strong statement: “It is what it is.”

Such courage. Such conviction.

As little as I care for Marco and his fellows for the ugly beliefs they promote it’s still discomforting to watch them debase themselves so cravenly. That it’s to rest at the feet of Jabba the Trump is just too gross.

For a party that prides itself on being strong, independent he-men, they sure do cave and fall to their knees like cowardly little bitches, don’t they?

Someone look up the definition of “overcompensation” in the DSM for me, would you? I think there might be a picture of the crowd at a Trump rally in there.

Little Marco hopes to be eaten last.

Just read the TPM article on Sanders interview with Chuck Todd on Meet The Chuck.

And for kicks, I decided to do what you should never do…I read the comments. And surprise…so far all the comments I have read have been pretty strongly against Bernie and his latest tactics. No one is impressed. Many of the comments are similar to here at LGF.

Looks like there is a turn in Bernie’s fortunes outside his more “passionate” backers. This bodes well for Hillary…a natural coming together in the party being driven by Bernie thinking he can sneak his way in. No one is buying it that has looked into the facts.

This article in case anyone wants to check it out and missed it in the last thread.

TPM - NBC Host To Sanders: Your Take On Superdelegates Is A Bit ‘Hypocritical’

Oh yeah…this comment stuck out:

Surprised Chuck Todd would be critical of anything Bernie Sanders says. After all, his wife has made over $1.3 million advising the Sanders campaign.

I still think this Tweet explains Marco perfectly:

The fact that this man was considered (by some) the “Republican Savior” tells you everything you need to know about how intellectually bankrupt the conservative movement is. He owes his career to being marketed like a bar of soap.

I’ve noticed two things happening simultaneously: Bernie’s shedding a lot of supporters due to the increased negativity and his diehards are getting even meaner. He thinks he’s strengthening his hand for the convention, but all he’s really doing is giving the party an even stronger case for wanting his ass gone and the rules changed so candidates like him cannot run in the future.

Not that I could see. He made Rand Paul look like an effective legislator. That’s how bad he’s been. Marco owes his career in the Senate to one single thing and that’s the GOP base’s rampant hatred of President Obama. That’s why he was able to beat Crist since Rubio used the fact that Crist didnt’ treat President Obama like crap to ebat him in the primary.

There’s stories about how bad he was in the FLA legislature too. Like begging to be appointed to a 9/11 committee (remember the hijackers had flight training in FLA) and then Marco had the worst attendance record of anyone on that committee. I’ve never been impressed by RUbio at all. I mean I hate Rand Paul too and his condescending bullshit but I’ve actually seen Rand stay with something before. Marco OTOH backed away from immigration reform like a weasel the second the bigots that dominate his party’s base complained. And then he has the nerve to question the President’s leadership. Marco Rubio wouldn’t know leadership if it bit him in his ass.

Good. He will naturally be taking Texas for granted. I’ve been talking to some of my evil Democrat co-conspirators about this. We are thinking that a massive, knock on every door, beat every bush get-out-the-vote program might, just might, allow us to ambush the Trumpetariat and turn the Lone Star state blue, at least for the presidential election. Far fetched? Maybe, but the notoriously crazy RWNJs hereabouts are getting complacent behind their gerrymandered walls, and (obviously) Trump is extremely unpopular with local Hispanics.

It took no time at all for them to cave within just a few days after Trump’s securing the required delegates for them to accept Trump and “defeat Hillary at any cost”.

It really is silly the the sleazy caricature of Hillary the right wing has manufactured and trafficked the last 30 years pretty much inch sums up Trump in actual, verifiable reality. Rubio is just the latest sleaze all right winger to choose evil over sanity. History will not be kind to all of them.

Oh yeah, probably about the worst age, as far as aggravating each other and Mom.

My daughter and son are 2 years apart and the middle school years are tough!

I love the look of old maps, charts and documents — they were produced with so much more artistry and love than their modern counterparts. Cartography has become a highly technical, standardised and accurate science but has lost the romance and mystery of the maps of old — here be dragons!

Off-Topic: The village had its Memorial Day service at the cemetery north of town. The guest speaker was a Navy commander who retired last year.

I was parked right in front of him, and he knows exactly who I am.

He started on the standard boilerplate about the murky origins of Memorial Day, then launched into a political screed that sounds like it came right out of a right wing fearmongering book.

He went on about liberals trying to take everyone’s guns, trying to shut down a free press (?), sinfulness of gay marriage, Muslims are terrorists, transgender bathroom panic, you name it.

I was disgusted with his politicising the event. As a village trustee, after the event was over, I went to shake the hands and thank everyone from the Sons of the American Legion who came to provide a firing squad, the fellow who played Taps, the women who organised the event, and purposefully walked past him to thank the engineer who set up the sound system.

Friday is the last day for our youngest, the 15yo (the only one still at home). Then he will be taking off with his sister for about a week down at her place. Things will get quieter for a while around the house. Just at the time they need to.

Anymouse  May 29, 2016 • 3:56:18pm

(Part Deux): With the whole village present, along with a number of people from out-of-town and state, I wasn’t going to dress the fellow down for being a bigot (or remind him his moral panic arguments were the same as used against African-Americans in the Sixties). He went back to his home in the next town but I have to live here.

I would have given a substantially different speech, however. (I will get with the women who organise this event privately later in the week and let them know my disappointment in the choice of speaker, considering there are a number of veterans right here in town, including me.)

If I’d lost my temper I would probably lose my city council seat. But I could think of a number of things to go off with: My sister served with honour in the US Army until she was outed and forced out under Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. She is now married (in the non-bigot California). My very liberal mother is a crack shot, and my usual response to people here in town that (no longer) say liberals want to take their guns is “We don’t need your guns, we have our own.” (My wife has jokingly proposed a socialistic solution to guns, seize them from the many to distribute to those who don’t have them.)

No one in this town is a transgendered person to my knowledge and I could not care less if someone was. One of the people on the committee that invited him is a lesbian, however.

Muslims have served with distinction in every combat the USA was involved in including the Revolutionary War; I served with several during my nearly two decades in the US Navy.

I suspect when the wingnuts lose Teh Geyh Panick battle, the next target will be atheists and agnostics (I am not looking forward to that).

Yeah, IN is pretty much in the “white Southern state” category and has been solidly Republican for as long as I can remember (longtime conservative Democrat senator Evan Bayh notwithstanding). That Obama managed to win there should be seen as something of an achievement.

I keep thinking of Operation Rolling Thunder, a Vietnam War bombing campaign headlined by the then-new(ish) B-52.

Given Donald Trump’s history of business dealings, shouldn’t “I stand behind it 100%” be a flags-and-sirens alert to run the other way - quickly?

Reality Based Steve  May 29, 2016 • 5:25:20pm

I’m showered, fed and ready to relax. Had a great (short) day out at the quarry. We added 4 new Open Water divers and 1 Advanced diver to our ‘Dive Tribe’ and a good time was had by all. I got a good solid training dive in with a buddy, we were looking for some gear that had gotten dropped the day before, didn’t find it but had a great dive in the cold (46*) water.

Visibility sucked, maybe 10 - 12 foot where we do most of the training, but down deep it was beautifully clear, 40 foot or so, just dark. Diving next week with a friend, I’m hoping that we don’t get more rain, the quarry needs to settle down and let the stuff settle.

Here’s a pic of the divers, instructor and rest of the usual cast of characters.

I’m BEHIND the camera, where I should be.

I’m also tasked now to write a blog for the shop’s website, probably focus on things like equipment reviews, best practices, got the first 4 or 5 articles sort of mapped out, see where it goes from there.

Life is not bad at all from where I sit.

Maybe he figures that for a state that voted in Jesse Ventura for Gov., going for Donald Trump wouldn’t be that much of a stretch?

Yes, but Ventura wasn’t a complete dumbass. I’ve mentioned before, but his reputation here is actually fairly high, as he was immensely popular and surprisingly effective. Trump, on the other hand, has proven to be nothing but weapons-grade stupid from the get-go.

In a similar vein to Governor Ventura, don’t forget that we also have Senator Al Franken (D-MN), who has also proven to be popular and effective. See, when we elect popular figures, we at least have the sense to do it right.

re: #170 HappyWarrior

I cannot believe that Texas governors keep on getting worse and worse. I mean I thought Perry was nuts and then this guy Abbott who is just flat out nuts and seems to care more about appeasing TCOT then actually governing. And I hear his Lt Governor is even worse. I don’t have too many ties to Texas outside a great aunt who lived there.

It’s very simple. Texas voters have been getting more and more frightened at the loss of their perceived white dominance and overwhelming sense of entitlement. Having come from Texas, I can attest that the voting pattern has been an evolution from a sane sort of oil-funded Socialist mixed political philosophy to out and out radical Libertarian Utopia where everything will just magically take care of itself. One of the worst poverty rates in the entire USA not withstanding, Texas indeed still has lots of oil to bail out those who really don’t need help just plain terrible economic and politcal philosophy, but not enough to help the poor that live inside Texas.

I worked for the state in an agency right across from the capitol building. I started the job about three weeks before Jesse was elected. He started out pretty good (he even came over and visited everyone to let us know he was for real) but after a couple years he wanted out and became a belligerent asshole. I wound up getting laid off after 3 1/2 years because things got so fucked up. No love for Jesse here.

I don’t think you need the last five words.

Hmmm. Yesterday I got dizzy for no reason. Later I developed a ~39C fever and that continued all night and today. Advil reduces it for about 3 hours & when I move my head I get a little dizzy. In the mean time I feel exhausted.

On Friday I worked more physically than I’m used to by quite a stretch.

Do you smell burnt popcorn?
