To tie into what we were talking about in the previous thread, I think he’s got a lot going on in his head, and just got the names mixed up. Clinton not only rattled him with a strong speech, she got into his head, and really screwed with his ability to just throw random shit out. So he’s trying to make a coherent speech, which is definitely not a strength of his.

Here, I don’t mind quoting the whole thing here.

It seems as if morality and decency are slighted as being “puritanical” and outdated. Homosexuality and gay marriage are praised by both pseudo-“Christians” and liberals alike. Next, we must cater to transgender individuals with complicated bathroom situations. Now, we have those of the “exposed nipple society” suing city governments when these women could simply work at strip joints and get paid for their indiscretions.

Public display of nudity is one of the signs of a degenerate society. I suppose we can soon expect Crotch Awareness Day. The source of the problem is that the many see nothing amiss and anything goes. We’ve come a long way, baby! Goodbye, America.

Right when they take Colin Powell, Condoleeza Rice, and Jeb Bush to jail for the same thing. Ain’t gonna happen because running a private E-mail server is not illegal.

In point of fact, when that derp hit the press, in a village board meeting I asked the village attorney (and county prosecutor) about that. I pointed out I use a private E-mail server for official village business; are they going to charge me? He snickered at the prospect, and although they are not the FBI or Federal prosecutors, he pointed out it is not illegal.

I was relieved I wasn’t going to jail. (::

The old goat has become the comment section:

“But when it comes to foreign policy, we cannot forget that Secretary Clinton voted for the war in Iraq, the worst foreign policy blunder in modern American history, and that she has been a proponent of regime change, as in Libya, without thinking through the consequences.”

Iraq vote doesn’t even merit a comment any longer, as for Lybia, it was not a matter of ‘regime change’ (there is nothing wrong with it btw), it was a matter of not letting the dictator slaughter the people who rebelled against him. Consequences there were indeed. There are always consequences. But it was basically Sophie’s choice.

I feel pretty certain that if Stan Harrison is like most other people he has his own business to attend to. It’s not the fault of others that he’s a Nosy Nutter. He’s lying if he says America is coming to an end because a few things have changed and others are getting the same rights he’s been enjoying all along. Hell, I think he’s probably one of those fellows who goes batsh*t crazy if a woman breastfeeds her baby in a very discreet manner in public. I have my own affairs to attend to so I don’t have time to “patrol” restrooms at Target to see who is using them because I know that when you’ve gotta go, you’ve gotta go. Some people piss me off with their nonsense. Until NC passed NCHB2, and it got a lot of publicity, the same people who’re making a lot of noise today and pretending to be so upset about which bathroom someone uses weren’t saying sh*t. If this has been a long-term problem, why weren’t they saying anything before now? The answer is that it wasn’t, and isn’t, a problem, and these persons are allowing themselves to be manipulated by grifters and politicians who also don’t really give a damn which bathroom anyone uses, either. It’s all a front, an attempt to beg for money and get gullible tools to the polls to vote for them because they have nothing substantive to offer to our citizens.

Good morning Lizards from a damp and windy France!

Itinerary got pushed back a day due to one of our party having passport issues and having to depart a day later than planned. So my brother and I used the time we needed to hang out near the airport to go visit a World War 1 cemetery (Ailes-Marne) and battlefield area near Chateau-Thierry (Belleau Wood). 4,000 graves and a chapel where the names of the missing are inscribed. It was heavily visited over Memorial Day and is a pilgrimage site of a sort for the USMC due to their involvement in that battle.

I also got some practice driving about in the rental car and getting used to the road signs and going through quaint French villages and suddenly having large trucks loom around curves in my general direction.

Breitbart, which I won’t link to, is pushing a story about Laureate Education, a for-profit chain of colleges operating in a number of foreign countries. Bill Clinton was named an honorary chancellor apparently to use his image for marketing and was paid about $16 million over five years from 2010 until he resigned when Hillary was getting ready to start her campaign. Major differences between this and Trump U, of course, is that Laureate operates actual, accredited colleges which offer real degrees while Trump U was just a sleazy series of real estate seminars.

The Justice Department handed down three more indictments of current and retired Navy officers last week. That brings the total to 13 snared in the seemingly endless scandal of Glenn Defense Marine Asia — the company once run by Leonard Glenn Francis of Malaysia. Also known as Fat Leonard.

The indictments, starting in 2013 for a scheme that went on for years, are like the salt water lapping at Navy ships. Each wave adds a little corrosion, each indictment ripping a little more of the Navy’s reputation. The Navy spends significant resources every day combating corrosion and decay of its vessels so they’ll stay ship-shape. So must it also attend to its ethics. Too much is at stake for it not to.

You know the story. In brief, many, perhaps hundreds, of uniformed and civilian personnel in the 7th Fleet took bribes of all kinds from Francis in return for Navy data and preferential treatment that made his company the top provisioner of ships in Southeast Asia. The Justice Department and Navy Criminal Investigative Service say GDMA not only got contracts, it fleeced the Navy on them. It went on for years — partly because Francis had people on his bribe payroll inside NCIS itself. Of the 13 indicted so far, according to Justice, nine pleaded guilty rather than go to trial.

I almost ran over a dinosaur on my way into work this morning. Although not as impressive as some walking around Florida golf course, the common snapping turtle is fierce enough to survive through winter in New York. They like to come out around this time of year and lay their eggs on the side of the road. I don’t recommend eating them, Les Stroud of Survivorman can attest to that.

You bring up the subject of pathogens. I know you’ve gotten sick on the show before—what have you contracted while shooting your show?
More often, it’s from water. But I did get a nasty parasite in my mouth one time that created all of these nasty snaking lesions. And I don’t know what gave it to me, but I’m suspicious that it was a turtle I ate on Survivorman in Georgia.

It is a lot less embarrassing than when yo confuse your ex’s name with that of your current girlfriend…

but again, any talk of his fingers, his hair, his skin color, his memory lapses (7/11 vs 9/11, wife vs. daughter), his university, his charitable contributions, etc., is all a distraction from the fact that this man is not qualified for the office of the Presidency and that electing him would be a disaster for the country and the world at large

Crucifixion is an ancient instrument of capital punishment: the method of slow and painful execution in which the victim is tied or nailed to a large wooden beam and left to hang for several days until eventual death from exhaustion and asphyxiation. It is principally known from antiquity, but remains in occasional use in some countries.

Qualifications needed to be President of the United States:

Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the Constitution sets the following qualifications for holding the presidency:

be a natural-born citizen of the United States;[note 1]
be at least thirty-five years old;
be a resident in the United States for at least fourteen years.
The Twelfth Amendment precludes anyone ineligible to being the president from becoming the vice president.

A person who meets the above qualifications is still disqualified from holding the office of president under any of the following conditions:

Under the Twenty-second Amendment, no person can be elected president more than twice. The amendment also specifies that if any eligible person serves as president or acting president for more than two years of a term for which some other eligible person was elected president, the former can only be elected president once. Scholars disagree over whether a person precluded by the Twenty-second Amendment to being elected president is also precluded to being vice president.[69]
Under Article I, Section 3, Clause 7, upon conviction in impeachment cases, the Senate has the option of disqualifying convicted individuals from holding federal office, including that of president.[70]
Under Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment, no person who swore an oath to support the Constitution, and later rebelled against the United States, can become president. However, this disqualification can be lifted by a two-thirds vote of each house of Congress.

Will the fed raise the rates?!
nypost.com

Friday is a very big day for Wall Street.

The employment report for May will be released by the Labor Department and it could be the last excuse a reluctant Federal Reserve needs to raise interest rates.

If the report is exceptionally weak — a reflection of the obvious weakness in the overall economy — Fed Chair Janet Yellen and her policy-making Federal Open Market Committee might have a difficult time justifying a rate hike at their next meeting on June 14 and 15.

From today:

U.S. stock futures turned lower Friday after employment data showed that hiring slowed sharply in May.

Futures pointed to a 0.3% drop for the S&P 500, compared with a 0.1% gain ahead of the jobs data. Changes in futures don’t necessarily reflect market moves after the opening bell.

Nonfarm payrolls rose by a seasonally adjusted 38,000 in May, the weakest performance since September 2010, the Labor Department said Friday. Economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal had predicted payrolls would rise by 158,000.

This too, shall pass.

As much of an evil conservative that I am, I don’t see myself pulling the trigger and voting for Trump. I am not buying his schtick. He is an actor. He is putting on a show. You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.

Trump is both Borat and Huey Long.

Qualifications needed to be President of the United States:

At one point in time, the only qualification for being a doctor was that you had to have a barber pole. The Constitution defines the minimum, for sure, but I’m going to expect an understanding of how to make our country function before I elect that person president.

I confuse my wife and daughters names all the time. They both end in elle. I usually cover it up by calling them by our dogs and cats names as well. My wife, in the heat of the moment, will accidentally yell at our son using the dog’s name, which always diffuses the situation.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Trump actually did speak with his daughter because she is a trusted business partner and I bet he values her opinion over his wife’s. Melania is basically a mistress that he married, not an equal partner to share his life with.

So there was a basketball game last night, and it was very good. What made it good in my opinion was the fact that the hype and the stars and big play makers took a back seat to the bench, and what won the game was truly a team effort. For people like myself, who appreciate the game for what it is, but don’t follow except for during the playoffs, it was especially entertaining.

Guy at the bar: “Come on Steph. No…missed another three…this sucks.”
Me: “Who the hell is that guy? Or that guy? Hey, we’re up by 20 and it’s all second string players against the Cavs starters? Holy shit.”

Team sports…it’s fun when they play out that way.

It’s all theater and hype. Audience participation is to be expected. It’s taken a year of constant media coverage to get is into the right mood for a “Summer of Chaos”…it’ll be great for ratings, we won’t have to talk about issues in depth because…boooooring…and everyone will get to show their ugly sides. It’ll be like that scene in The Kingsman where Samuel L Jackson’s character activates all of the SIM cards in mobile phones and turns the world into a bloodbath to a Lynyrd Skynyrd soundtrack.

Quite impressive. If everyone on Team Clinton goes after Trump with such surgical precision, he’ll be weeping on the podium most of the time between now and November.

And I have every reason to believe that between Hillary, Bill, Obama, Biden and Warren, the message discipline will be excellent and relentless.

And Hillary should thank Warren for laying out the template for the best way to go after Trump. Her speech last week showed how easily trolled he is, and Clinton’s speechwriters figured out how to lace the taunts with real policy.

They’ve found Trump’s Achilles Heel, and they should attack it continuously. Every day. Expose this fucker for the whiny, stumpy-fingered punk he’s always been.

MBF bullshit.

Eight senior security officials told Reuters they had concerns over briefing Trump, whose brash, unpredictable campaign style has been a feature of his rise as an insurgent candidate. Despite their worries, the officials said the “Top Secret” briefing to each candidate would not deviate from the usual format to avoid any appearance of bias.

Current and former officials said that the scandal over Hillary Clinton’s use of emails also raises concerns about her handling of sensitive information. The likely Democratic nominee is facing an FBI probe into whether security was compromised and laws were broken by her use of a private email server for government business while she was Secretary of State.

a) they all know deep down that this is exactly the kind of thing that government regulation exists to prevent from happening, so their political stance essentially enabled massive fraud

The best thing about Hillary’s attack is that she managed to tear him to shreds using only foreign policy issues. She’s still got so much dry powder left.

She essentially laid out the evidence that a President Trump would be a threat to our national security.

“Tear down this wall,” the Great Communicator famously once said. “The wall cannot withstand freedom.”

Trump is the Great Excommunicator. He wants Muslims banned from the country; a wall built around our southern border; global deals ripped up and renegotiated; American made “great again” through isolationism.

I don’t agree with most of the stuff they say about how great Reagan was, but ‘excommunicator’ is a great turn of phrase to describe Trump.

Politico reporter booted from Trump rally

By JILL COLVIN Associated Press JUNE 3, 2016 — 12:00PM

NEW YORK — A reporter from the news outlet Politico was ejected from a Donald Trump rally late Thursday — the latest sign of growing antagonism between the presumptive Republican presidential nominee and the press.

Politico reported that Ben Schreckinger had been typing on his laptop at the event at the San Jose Convention Center when he was approached by a Trump campaign staffer. After consulting with higher-ups, the aide and a private security staffer reportedly escorted Schreckinger out of the venue. Schreckinger had entered on a general admission ticket after repeatedly being denied press credentials for Trump events.

“I was removed from Donald Trump’s rally tonight for practicing journalism without the campaign’s permission,” he wrote on Twitter.

The Trump campaign routinely denies credentials to outlets it deems unfriendly, including Politico, BuzzFeed and the Daily Beast. Reporters from those outlets often enter Trump events as members of the general public so that they can report.

Trump campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks said in an emailed statement that the campaign was “looking into” the incident.

A Trump University seminar presentation advised students to try and boost their credit card limit by inflating their income by $75,000, according to documents made public in federal court this week. The instruction, legal experts said, could amount to a lesson in bank fraud.

“If someone is encouraging people to make a false representation about their current income — that might be an appropriate target for prosecution,” said John W. Moscow, former head of the Frauds Bureau of the New York County District Attorney’s office.

“If the caller actually does what they were told to do, that could easily be fraud,” agreed Randall M. Fox, who served as founding Bureau Chief of New York Attorney General’s Taxpayer Protection Bureau.

HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Lynch Police Chief Jackie Stewart was arrested Friday, Kentucky State Police confirmed.

A woman named Rettie Morris was also arrested.

KSP said the arrest came after a multi-agency investigation into narcotics in Appalachia was taken over by the FBI.

A federal indictment naming Stewart and Morris was wiled Friday in the United States District Court in London.

According to the indictment, the two conspired to distribute cocaine and meth, along with other controlled substances.

Thee two are also accused of illegally disposing of or selling a gun.

For the three counts listed on the indictment, the two face up to 60 years in prison and millions of dollars in fines.

re: #376 Backwoods_Sleuth

Sadly, this is not a surprise to me at all. Similar thing happened in my county not all that long ago.

This column at Huffington Post makes some really good — and frightening — points about Trump’s psychological profile.

huffingtonpost.com

Here’s one paragraph:

A belief that you are above the rules. An array of inconsistent statements and behaviors driven by your needs in the moment. An inability to assess the consequences of your actions in new or complex situations. In sum, a total incapacity to separate the world from your own psychodrama.

This column also has an eloquent description of President Obama:

One of the many assets Obama brought to the White House is a peerless dignity and grace.
