Announcing: The Random Donald Trump Tweet Machine

Humor • Views: 49,206

Donald Trump has been a member of Twitter since 2009, and he tweets a lot. So I thought it might be amusing to create a little program that uses Twitter’s API to display a Donald Trump tweet chosen at random from his voluminous history of craziness.

This was inspired by @BuzzFeedAndrew, who tweeted earlier today:

So without further ado, Andrew, I give you the Random Donald Trump Tweet Machine. These are all real tweets, composed by the Republican Party’s nominee for president of the United States. Read ‘em and weep.

Oh my. Those are real tweets! I thought it would just randomly put a bunch of words together to make imaginary Trump tweets.

Shit. I’m with Andrew. I could click the shit out this!

I believe i hear Twitter is keeping their Tweets for reference for the National Archives. In 40 years, we’ll look at these and remember the time that a lunatic got his party’s nomination for President.

At one of the local fairs, I was talking to the guy selling woodcarvings, in his case designs carved into long pieces of wood, which were covered in varnish. I asked him how he did them, and he said a CNC router. At that point, we spent ten minutes talking about the type of CNC, how he got his designs, and if he did any g-code programming for them.

And, they handed him his *ss when he tried to claim that offshore solar powered wind generators would ruin the “view” on his golf course. After I read that the Scottish government told him to go pound sand, I was so happy. This is what he had to say after being rejected, and of course, it’s a lie.

“As dictated by Alex Salmond, a man whose obsession with obsolete wind technology will destroy the magnificence and beauty of Scotland. Likewise, tourism, Scotland’s biggest industry, will be ruined. We will spend whatever monies are necessary to see to it that these huge and unsightly industrial wind turbines are never constructed. All over the world they are being abandoned, but in Scotland they are being built. We will put our future plans in Aberdeen on hold, as will many others, until this ridiculous proposal is defeated. Likewise, we will be bringing a lawsuit within the allocated period of time to stop what will definitely be the destruction of Aberdeen and Scotland itself.”

Beloit billionaire posts string of zeros on state returns

Beloit billionaire Diane Hendricks, the richest woman in Wisconsin and a vice chair of the Trump Victory fundraising committee, didn’t pay a dime in state income tax from 2012 through 2014, records obtained by the Journal Sentinel show.

Hendricks, 69, has a net worth of nearly $5 billion, according to an estimate by Forbes Magazine, which this month named her “America’s Richest Self-Made Woman” — edging out Oprah Winfrey, who the magazine said had a net worth of $3.1 billion. Judy Faulkner, founder and CEO at Epic Systems Corp., a Verona health care software company, came in third with an estimated net worth of $2.4 billion.

Hendricks, co-founder and owner of ABC Supply Co. — the nation’s largest supplier of roofing — also owed no state taxes in 2010, meaning she paid no Wisconsin income taxes in four out of five years. The company, which she founded with her husband, Ken, in 1982, posts annual sales of about $6 billion. Ken Hendricks died in 2007.

Bailey’s article is really well written and I think it really gets at things I’ve observed over the past near eight years with a lot of progressives regarding Obama. It also seems that Bernie lost big among African-American voters 18-29. That’s something that I honestly wasn’t aware of and I imagine Clinton beat him with Hispanics and Asians among the same group though perhaps by not as big margins.

Many Sanders supporters believed his push to regulate Wall Street and solve economic inequality would resonate with minority voters. It didn’t because minority voters know that liberal policies alone won’t reverse decades of racial inequalities. They have been loyal members of liberal unions where white Democrats received plush jobs, even if they were no more qualified than their black colleagues. They’ve seen the same thing in liberal Hollywood and the supposedly liberal world of the media, whose top ranks remain mostly white

From Dr. Matt downstairs, I see Rage Furby has posted a “bounty” in WeSearchr to see if Judge Curiel’s parents were undocumented immigrants. Anyone who spends money ($410 of $10,000 raised so far) would be wasting their money. Here’s why.

Immigration back when the elder Curiels were alive was very different from today. If someone entered the USA for work, as Salvador Curiel did, they could formally request to stay as permanent residents. This was called “having first papers,” meaning they intended to become naturalized citizens in the future. AFAIK, there were no time restrictions on when they could happen.

Secondly, Rage Furby himself has found (using familysearch.org, it seems) records of several border crossings by Salvador and then later Salvador and Francisca after their marriage in Mexico. These would be legal border crossings, being recorded and all, and I would presume border control agents would have checked to be sure everything was on the up-and-up. IOW, they were likely not undocumented aliens.

Next, the senior Curiel began as a farm worker and laborer, but eventually got work in a steel mill in Indiana. He would have had a Social Security number (and probably union membership). They owned a home, too, and were hardly living in fear of being deported. (Again, attitudes about “illegal immigrants” were different back then. The RW was more worried about Commies than Mexicans.]

Immigration laws then gave spouses of legal residents residency as well. So, if Salvador had “first papers,” his wife would have been granted the same status. She apparently waited until 1969 to become a naturalized citizen, five years after her husband’s death.

And in any event, their children were born in Indiana, making all of them natural born citizens.

Basically, there is no story here. Rage Furby is using this fear-mongering to drive traffic to his woeful blog, and to grift money from idiots using WeSearchr. Under the terms of WeSearchr’s payment scheme, WeSearchr (Chuck and Pax) gets 15% of whatever a campaign pulls in. So, they could potentially make $1,500 from this bounty, if enough idiots contribute to it.

You know another thing is that this whole concept of illegal versus legal immigrant is pretty new. It’s all because he’s Mexican-American. If his name were Greg Curry and he was from the Indianapolis suburbs, Rage Furby wouldn’t give a shit. The way Judge Curiel’s family is being dragged through the mud for the sin of being Mexican-American and judging a case involving Trump is let me be blunt here Nazi. It’s something that the Nazis would have done to a Jewish judge. And shame on all the Republicans that have continued to support Trump and especially the ones that make excuses for him.

Yeah, that Politico article has a lot of good stuff in it. But I think it reiterates a lot of the same points a very good Kos diary made about the appeal of Clinton to black voters that was written back in February. Not much has changed, though I think the internal viewpoints of minority communities as a whole needs to be emphasized more—-there’s been some improvement in the black community which they KNOW they’ll get from a Clinton as they knew they got from the Obama community. I just don’t think a lot of Sanders supporters appreciate that that black voters, particularly older ones, have long memories of white politicians promising the moon and then turning around giving it all to the white constituents. The Clintons “duped” the black community by actually delivering solid economic gains for a larger segment of the black community than lost out through welfare reform. That’s more than they got from other politicians.

Exactly. Once someone entered the USA through normal border channels, they were given an immigration number and from then on were presumed to have entered legally. If they applied for “first papers,” it was equivalent to permanent residency. I’m assuming my mom’s parents had those. So, they could apply for Social Security, but of course could not vote.

There was not this frenzy we seem to have now about “illegal immigrants.” There were quotas in effect for certain groups (Chinese, for example), but there were no quotas, AFAIK, for Mexicans. And it seems relatively easy to enter the States, if you could state you were entering for work and had a contact already living in the USA.

Chuck is either stupid or is deliberately ignoring the implications of documentation of the Curiels’ lawful border crossings. If their names were on a border entry slip, they would be presumed to be legal visitors/residents/citizens.

Bigger audience with this but yes very true points about how older African-American voters especially have long memories. I really think Clinton came off to me anyhow more genuinely interested in their concerns. I don’t think Bernie is a bigot but I also think he doesn’t see that not everything is in economic terms. I brought up the example of the wealthy black tennis player being hasseled by police, income inequality can’t explain that nor it can how the African-Americans I know here in wealthy NoVa are much more likely to encounter harassment by police than white people like myself. Clinton had great surrogates too. A man like John Lewis is going to get a lot more people listening than Cornel West for example.

Right. My second great grandfather got naturalized pretty quickly after arriving. Six years I believe. And you’re right about the quotas. Who knows if the quotas on Eastern European immigrants had been signed just five years earlier, I may not be here right now as my last immigrant ancestor, my Slovakian born great grandmother came in 1921. It really is disgraceful that all this is going on. It’s not only morally wrong but the attacks on Judge Curiel’s character are awful too. Quite a couple and man that article about his brother. I can’t imagine. I think so many white progressives especially younger ones and I’m talking about my generation (hey Pete Townsend) and demo here but I think while we were excited about Obama, our high expectations led us to so much disappointment. I don’t think many of these white progressive Berners are racist or bigoted people but I do think they do suffer from privilege. And that’s the privilege of being able to get disillusioned more easily. Whereas African-American voters see the party has become a party that has fully embraced Civil Rights for African-Americans in the past 40 some odd years, a lot of white progressives bemoan the party’s move away from more leftist style economics.

In a very real sense, any first generation American was an “anchor baby,” if their parents were immigrants. The convoluted process of getting a green card and your citizenship did not exist prior to 1965. You came in, then some time later in court stated your intention to become a citizen (first papers). After 3-5 years residency, you applied for citizenship (second papers) and finally got your naturalization certificate. Compared to today’s over complicated system, it was a breeze (if you were not Asian or a black African).

It’s similar with many government programs too. That’s part of why the New Deal Coalition collapsed. I think this guy was also one of J.T. Ready’s buddies. In 2012, Ready killed his girlfriend, her daughter and granddaughter, the daughter’s fiance, and himself. He did this even though he identified himself as a member of the “master race.” I was very happy to hear that Chris Simcox was convicted for molesting a child because I remember him strutting around a few years back, dressed in camo, organizing a militia, pretending to be an official border patrol agent, running off at the mouth, and hanging out with the likes of Joe Arpaio. At the time, he was pretending that he was all law and order. Little did I know at the time that he was an adult molesting little kids. He has an adult daughter who now lives in California, and according to Phoenix New Times, she told prosecutors that he had molested her when she was a child, and that she wanted to testify in his trial. Something about him that outraged me was that his request was granted to question the girls on the witness stand that he had allegedly molested. An article I read today stated that he had an attorney who “guided” his questioning of the girls. Those girls must have been terrified being questioned by the guy they say molested them. I hope he’s given the longest sentence available for the crime.

Not one word, but they’re stuck on HRC using a private email account while being SoS. I think Broadwell having classified info on her home computer is more serious than HRC having a private email account while she was working at the State Dept.

I do get a kick of this idea that because FDR won a brokered convention so can Bernie. For one, Bernie is no FDR, for two his advisers aren’t FDR’s Brain Trust, for three primaries weren’t a big deal in those days and candidates were often nominated after several ballots, for four so the DNC that party apparatus they hate is going to just hand the nomination to Bernie after Clinton won fair and square? There’s a lot of I think contempt for the democratic process among these people. Bernie lost. Be disappointed but do not subvert the will of the voters because you’re a sore loser.

Brass tacks: If you really get into their heads, in their hearts, people like these don’t truly believe in democracy. They really don’t. They’ll tell you about “the masses” and how they need to be “led”.

For several years, we’ve been hearing about demographics and our increasing majority-minority characteristics. We say, rightly, that the demographics are a firewall against the GOP.

But Berniebros, who are in my age range (50’s) seem to think that the white males will still be in charge, even as there is no good reason to give them preferences in other fields of work.

Hillary was inevitable, and so is her coalition.
So it doesn’t include white males.

Too damned bad. This white male isn’t too broken up over it.

One of the reasons I always walk away from even the most satisfying political discussion in the real world (because, no doubt, I’ve held forth on some matter passionately) with an acute sensation of embarrassment, even shame, is because I always examine what I had said later and agonised over whether I might be wrong.

I tell myself that it’s a good feeling to have, for obvious reasons. It’s hard to explain to others, though.
Ironically, a lack of confidence after the fact tends to undermine one’s argument.
Ignorance has a built-in advantage.

So, the Rage Furby has concluded that Judge Curiel’s dad was not a US citizen, because his death certificate says he was a citizen of Mexico at the time of his death. The New York Times reported otherwise, so naturally Rage Furby is spinning all kinds of CTs about Carlos Slim and the NYT trying to obfuscate the Truth, etc. etc.

But notice he is not saying the elder Curiel was an illegal immigrant now. I think he’s moved the goalposts.

As I mentioned above, the elder Curiels were probably living here under their “first papers” (intention to become a citizen) and likely they had no special incentive to become naturalized citizens and went about their lives as permanent residents. Additionally, there’s also the possibility that the death record is in error, and Salvador was a US citizen at the time of his death. Anyone who has done genealogical research knows how clerical errors creep into official records, waiting to confound future generations.

Anyway, Rage Furby has presumably established what he believes to be the Truth, and now will repeat his conclusions on circumstantial evidence forever more.

And get a load of the email he says he sent the NYT reporter:

Hi Alan,
You wrote that Judge Curiel’s father died as a U.S. citizen.
In fact, the death records for Salvador Curiel from the Indiana records.
How did this happen? Did you not check it?

Protip: When sending an important email to busy people, make sure the email makes sense.

From an admission point of view, it’s idiotic to apply as a foreign student if you don’t have to. You’re vetted more closely, registration fees tend to be higher, and some aids are limited to local students. And, as you mention, you don’t get an asterisk indicating you applied as a foreign student.

OTOH, some of the freepers were noting that Johnson has proved absolutely nothing about Judge Curiel’s parents’ citizenship status, as naturalization records are haphazard, rarely are centralized, and are seldom online.

The realization of Sarah’s sexuality drew her parents’ attention when it was time to go to prom, and Sarah elected to take her girlfriend.

Jordan states that “instead of preparing for college and competing in the state debate tournament, she’ll be doing forced labor every day and enduring Bible-based ‘therapy’ for her ‘disease

Oh, brother, Rage Furby is trying really hard to whip up anti-Mexican feelings. He’s claiming that Mexico is inciting violence at Trump rallies, and has a post today with this breathless headline: WOW! Trump Supporter Threatened With Knife By Savage At #SanJose Rally

Reading further, the victim says:

However, as we walked passed someone, I felt my head grabbed and my hat robbed me as he grabbed it from the top of my head. I chased after him, and he ended up falling to the ground not too far away. Both me and my dad caught up to him and were trying to reach for the hat. However, the end result was of me getting sucker punched by the man. I fell to the ground and hit the other side of my head against the street. The man ended up towering over me after a knife dropped out of his pocket.

“A knife dropped out of his pocket” is not quite the same thing as “threatened with a knife.”

Also, Chuck is now using the word “savages” to refer to anti-Trump protesters, presumably because he believes they are all operatives for the Mexican government.

We’ve got to get this straight here,” said Nina Turner, a former Ohio state senator who’s been traveling the country on behalf of the campaign. “There’s respect that’s for the commander in chief … but Sen. Sanders is duly elected, and he’ll make his own decisions.”

Ahhh, I was wondering what Nina had said last night that had everyone screaming at their TVs.

I’m seriously impressed at Charles’ coding to get a random Tweet generator running showing Trump’s tweets from his archives.

There’s some good ones in there.

Trump claims to be the most fiscally responsible of all, but his tax plan would add more than $1T every year for 10 years following enactment. That’s not just my word, but the Tax Foundation’s analysis, and they’re pretty damned good at what they do. He’d add $10 Trillion (with a T) to the debt, all to fund his massive tax cuts for the rich.

Everyone else would be left holding the bag.

Guess he’s not so worried about China buying up that debt though, since he’s doing it for personal gain. Or he simply forgot that he thinks China buying the debt is a problem. Or doesn’t care. Or ignores that the big chunk of debt added during Obama’s first term was to spend our way out of the Great Recession and the continuing drag resulting from the Bush tax cuts, some of which were made permanent.

While Obama did make some of those cuts permanent, what Obama did, and what Trump proposes are two different things entirely. Trump’s scale of tax cuts for the rich is absolutely breathtaking.

Oh, and for the comparison between both parties being alike: Clinton’s tax plan would cut the debt by about $200 billion over 10 years. Add 10T to debt, or cut it by $200 billion. Yeah, both parties are just alike.

One last thing before I crash but the BBs of FDR’s day hated FDR for not destroying capitalism and putting socialism in its place. FDR like so many successful liberals was idealistic but also a pragmatist too. You need both to be a successful liberal whether you’re in politics or not.

Liberals are not anti-capitalist. Strongly regulated capitalism, yes, but we accept the need for business and industry in society. There are other political philosophies to go to if you don’t like business.

Hardly. She’s going to destroy him on taxes, which is the essential Trump position. Everything else flows from taxes. If you think otherwise, you’re deluding yourself.

Fiscal responsibility starts with a tax plan that actually makes sense. Trump adds trillions in debt to give tax cuts to the rich. Only way to avoid the debt is to massively cut services, including the safety net programs, defense budgets, and Social Security/Medicare/Medicaid.

Clinton’s tax plan raises taxes on those who can most afford them, and begins the process of reducing debt.

She’ll also talk about expanding various services and minimum wage hikes, but in the context of reducing burdens on government (instead of government paying for food stamps, Walmart can afford to pay their workers living wages). Shift the burden of wages back on to employers.

On and on, but in the end, it comes back to economic growth and that tax cuts for the rich will not help anyone but the rich get richer.

And I expect her to talk about how corporations and CEOs complaining about high corporate taxes will whine, but 20% of those big corporations aren’t paying fed corp taxes anyways.

She’s gotten more votes in a primary season than anyone not named Barack Obama. More than Trump. More than Romney in 2012. More than McCain in 2008.

Economically speaking, the infrastructure is a big deal. If goods cannot be reliably brought to market because of failing roads and bridges —it will all fall apart, not just the bridges.

People forget that the Free Market cannot function without a solid infrastructure: both a physical infrastructure and a legal/regulatory infrastructure.

And we cannot trust the people who produce the goods to own or regulate the infrastructure if we want the market to function to everyone’s benefit.

China understands this very well. They’ve spent billions on highways and high speed rail, which require bridges and tunnels. Within a few years, you’ll able to take high speed rail from Beijing to Urumqi in Xinjiang, and it will take maybe a day total. Now, a train ride from Chengdu in Sichuan to Urumqi can take three days.

They’re adding new airports, too, but unfortunately China’s airspace is controlled by the PLA. There are too few civilian air corridors to handle even the present air passenger traffic. Adding airports will not improve matters at all.

Because technically speaking, Puerto Rico is “independent” of the US in various respects. It is not a state. Its status is the reason why this is even a question in the first place.

If PR were a state, then we wouldn’t even be having this suit in the first place. But PR is treated as a commonwealth, so the question rose when the local prosecutors filed suit on an issue that was also being handled in US federal court.

I don’t think those in power have forgotten. They are bogged down in arguments (dick fights) over who get’s the contracts. Is it going to be a government project or will it be given to private industry.

We all know how well that is turned out for the prison system. We also know the astounding success of the WPA.

Pam Bondi hit with ethics, Bar complaints over Trump’s $25,000 donation

TALLAHASSEE — Attorney General Pam Bondi’s political troubles deepened Wednesday when she was slapped with three complaints accusing her of unethical conduct for soliciting campaign donations from Donald Trump while her office was reviewing consumer complaints against Trump University.

The complaints were filed with the Florida Commission on Ethics, Florida Elections Commission and Florida Bar by J. Whitfield Larrabee, a Boston lawyer who said he acted after reading news accounts of Bondi having solicited a $25,000 donation from the Donald J. Trump Foundation in September 2013.

It’s also the main north-south interstate bridge in the Greater Cincinnati.

Nope, nothing wrong with the nations infrastructure. That bridge only grows more busy every year and still nothing is being done for the future. If they have some big issues and need to shut that bridge down it is going to kill travel in the area and a lot of business. I think it carries close to 200,000 vehicles a day. This is a politics of arson. I’d rather see the empire burn to the ground under Trump, opening up at least the possibility of radical change, than cruise on autopilot under Clinton.

Correct the Record, a super PAC supporting Hillary Clinton, is launching a “Trump Lies” campaign on Thursday that catalogs the business mogul’s lies and inaccuracies, dating from the start of his real estate career in the 1970s to his current campaign for president.

Thursday’s launch includes an interactive website, trumplies.com, which contains a searchable database of Trump’s misstatements, as well as a 40-minute video highlighting his struggles with the truth since announcing his candidacy a year ago.

The video, set to the entirety of Mozart’s Symphony No. 41, includes every Trump statement that has been awarded Four Pinocchios by The Washington Post’s Fact Checker. The group will update its lies database as the campaign unfolds and plans to continue adding multimedia features and other new material, such as weekly roundups of falsehoods, between now and Election Day.

I always say that my kids are just a little harrier than other people’s kids.

Stewardship is a theological belief that humans are responsible for the world, and should take care of it. Many religions and denominations have various degrees of support for environmental stewardship. It can have political implications, such as in Christian Democracy.

Many moderate and progressive Catholics, Protestants and evangelicals see environmentalism as a consequence of stewardship. In Jewish and Christian traditions, stewardship refers to the way time, talents, material possessions, or wealth are used or given for the service of God.

Some pagan or secular views include a Gaia philosophy which accepts the Earth as a holy being or goddess.

The Jewish holiday of Tu Bishvat, or “the Birthday of the Trees,” is also known as Jewish Arbor Day. Some want to expand it to a more global environmental focus.[1]

A biblical world view of stewardship can be consciously defined as: “Utilizing and managing all resources God provides for the glory of God and the betterment of His creation.”[2] The central essence of biblical world view stewardship is managing everything God brings into the believer’s life in a manner that honors God and impacts eternity.

Stewardship begins and ends with the understanding of God’s ownership of all:

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” (Revelation 22:13)
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” (Psalm 24:1)
“To the Lord your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it.” (Deuteronomy 10:14)
“The land must not be sold permanently, because the land is mine and you are but aliens and my tenants.” (Leviticus 25:23)
“Who has a claim against me that I must pay? Everything under heaven belongs to me.” (Job 41:11)

and:

steward
noun [C] UK /ˈstjuː.əd/ US /ˈstuː.ɚd/

> a person whose job it is to organize a particular event, or to provide services to particular people, or to take care of a particular place:
Stewards will be inspecting the race track at 9.00.
If you need help at any time during the conference, one of the stewards will be pleased to help you.
> female stewardess, a person who serves passengers on a ship or aircraft
> UK a person who organizes the supply and serving of food at a club:
He’s the steward of the City of Wakefield’s Working Men’s Club.

I’ve always likened the concept to parenthood.

Not ownership or governship.

Absolutely. Perhaps I didn’t make it clear that this is an archaic and totally stupid construct that can be added on to the ‘sluts’ argument. But it was a real one. Just not my actual opinion.

re: #400 calochortus

And women are the gatekeepers of morality. If women don’t use their moral influence, society crumbles. We can’t give women any real power to do this, but a good woman’s moral force keeps the men around her in line. If they sin, it is her fault for not being good enough. (Actual Victorian philosophy so I don’t know if I should put a sarc tag on it or not.)

Men know that women can use their sexual charms to totally dominate them, the only thing that keeps women in line (and men on top) is the fear of the consequences…

A partial quote from a great post by SEK (a sane Sanders supporter) at Lawyers, Guns and Money:

In short, we need to remember that the majority of what we’ve gained in the past seven years under an Obama administration has had far more to do with the composition of the Supreme Court than who occupied the White House.

I’m not saying you have to like it. I’m not saying you have to approve of anything….

I’m just saying that if you let your personal disappointment pave the way for a Trump-nominated Supreme Court in which the gains in civil rights for the LGBTQ community are curtailed, in which Obamacare is scaled back, in which already restricted voting rights for minorities are further limited, in which abortion becomes a back-alley procedure again — if you let your personal heartache hurt all those people, can you really call yourself a liberal?

This is a serious question, and it ain’t about any particular candidates. It’s just something to think about before you start bawking/balking about who you’re voting for. This isn’t capitulation — it’s the future of civil rights for actual American human beings who are not you, as well as for the very definition of this country as a nation of immigrants.

I just read a comment from some wanker who’s planning on voting for Stein because Hillary lets Monsanto poison his food. He says he’s a liberal and has always supported people’s issues that don’t improve his own lot, but this time around he is adamant that he has to vote against Hillary to protect himself. He actually said this issue affects him “3 times a day!” Right, it is sooo hard to find labels that read “GMO free”, so everyone else’s rights don’t enter into the equation for him. (Like his life would be so much easier if he could avoid “contains GMO’s” labels rather than choosing “GMO free” ones.)

This is just so stupid——-Jill Stein won’t win and the wanker will have to continue reading labels carefully. But at least he will have punished Hillary and taken a stand….

I would only argue with the idea that the attitude is archaic. It is still in force. When we hear of the horrid moral failings of the US it’s inevitably illustrated by women debasing ourselves by getting laid, drinking, dressing provocatively, etc. Men are conspicuously absent from responsibility. Just like the issue of rape.

He does this every time one of the subjects of his innuendo-laden, fact-challenged reports fails: Brian Williams, Menendez in NJ, Kevin McCarthy, and now Renee Ellmers. The fact that there be other mitigating factors completely eludes him.

But usually he claims credit for something that was actually reported as an event (even if, as in the case of Menendez, the actual reporting is totally different from whatever tree he’s been barking up.)

This one is more of a tree didn’t fall in the forest, but everyone who’s anyone heard the crash from miles away.

The Ellmers-McCarthy affair did get some coverage in non-Rage Furby outlets a few years ago, but it was in the political equivalents of TMZ and Buzzfeed. He quoted some “sources” who said the the two were an item, though each one is married to someone else. Chuck is fixated on exposing “frauds,” especially people carrying on extramarital affairs (one wonders why), and he wants all Republicans to be as pure as newly fallen snow.

Chuck is much like Trump, constantly telling people how great he is, how smart he is. But when you look at each man’s accomplishments, there’s not much there.

NC woman pours vodka in boy’s eyes at hotel pool, kicks officer in groin, police say

A North Carolina woman was arrested on a charge of child abuse after police say she poured vodka on the eyes and head of a 7-year-old boy who had splashed water on her at a hotel pool.

Clearwater police say Roseanna Marie Kiser, 23, was intoxicated and was drinking from a bottle of vodka in the pool area at the Sheraton Sand Key Hotel at 1160 Gulf Blvd. in Clearwater Beach. Several young children were swimming and playing in the pool.

Kiser became angry at a 7-year-old boy because he splashed water near her. She opened her bottle of vodka and poured some of it onto the boy’s eyes and face. She then grabbed the boy around the chest and pushed him further away from her into the pool, according to an arrest affidavit.

Kiser kicked a police officer in the groin with her heel when he was arresting her, according to the affidavit.

Looks like she’s had some vodka in her eyes, too. Since she crotch-kicked a cop and is still alive, you probably knew without looking that she is white.

A lesson in “actions have consequences”

Rapey Brock Turner’s Lady Defender So Sad No One Wants To Listen To Her Band Now

Back when I was a young’un, most of our ladybands were pretty unhappy about rape. At least the ones I listened to, anyway. In fact, after Mia Zapata of The Gits (still the best ever) was raped and murdered on a Seattle street, many of those bands and artists bound together to start Home Alive, an organization that offers self-defense classes for women.

But maybe the kids today are different? Or at least one of them is, anyway! Yeah, probably just the one. Because when Leslie Rasmussen of the band “Good English” found out that her good childhood buddy Brock Turner raped a woman in an alley, she responded by defending him! In a letter of support she urged the judge to not fall prey to “political correctness” and to understand that Brock was “not a monster,” but was simply just too drunk to know he wasn’t sposed to rape anybody.

Here is a live video of the trio:

What drives me nuts is when they call these people criminals. We discussed this last night but I think many White non Hispanics have no idea how easy immigration and naturalization was for most of our ancestors. Not talking about discrimination because certainly those groups did face that too but as far as naturalization goes. Oh and my German born great grandfather was on the War Rationing Board in WWII, meanwhile wingnuts think Arab-Americans are unpatriotic but I doubt there were many questions if any at all about Great Grandpa.

Nope, nothing wrong with the nations infrastructure. That bridge only grows more busy every year and still nothing is being done for the future. If they have some big issues and need to shut that bridge down it is going to kill travel in the area and a lot of business. I think it carries close to 200,000 vehicles a day. Yeah…no big need there!

Good diary.

I like this part….politics and policy making is not easy and is always messy.

Hillary voted for a version of the bankruptcy bill after working with Congress to include amendments directly addressing Elizabeth Warren’s concerns about the bill — specifically those regarding women and children. The bill then went to the Republican-controlled House, which removed the amendments protecting women and children. When the bill was sent back to the Senate, Democrats [including Hillary] filibustered the bill. Later, a finalized version of the bill passed without Hillary’s support.

Very interesting read. In short, the Trump campaign to GOTV at the state level is pretty much non-existent.

Trump’s ground game? Let the state parties get out the vote, but don’t talk to ‘em or fund ‘em

Meanwhile, RNC officials still aren’t even sure where the campaign has already deployed staffers. Trump’s field organization is a patchwork of aides, some paid, some retained on a volunteer basis and many left over from the Republican primaries. While he has campaign chiefs in Florida — and solidly blue states like Washington and New York — in crucial battlegrounds including Ohio and Colorado, Trump doesn’t have so much as a state director.

And what’s happening in places like Michigan, one of some 15 states The Donald has promised to flip? Here’s the scoop from Michigan Republican Party communications director, Sarah Anderson.

“I think we will hear from them, but this campaign is just different than what’s been typical,” Anderson said. “I don’t think we’re surprised to not hear from them at this point. I think they’re just not there yet.”

Trump doesn’t have any money to devote to GOTV, but he’s going to plunk chips down to try and turn NY red. Yeah, you read that right. In a state with massive Democratic party demographic advantages (2-1 registration, large minority populations, more liberal base), Trump’s going to chase after votes when he’s neck and neck in states historically safe for Republican candidates.

I say good. Let him throw money away and screwing his party’s GOTV. This is what happens when the GOP elects the natural outcome of their know-nothing anti-reality positions.

Which Progressive Website Editor Is Secretly Supporting Donald Trump?

Today The Daily Beast published an article titled “Anarchists for Donald Trump—Let the Empire Burn” in which the freelance journalist Christopher Ketcham explains the logic of certain progressive voters, including himself, who intend to vote for the presumptive Republican nominee in November. A sampling:

What’s needed now in American politics is consternation, confusion, dissension, disorder, chaos — and crisis, with possible resolution — and a Trump presidency is the best chance for this true progress. This is a politics of arson. I’d rather see the empire burn to the ground under Trump, opening up at least the possibility of radical change, than cruise on autopilot under Clinton.

I’m willing to bet it rhymes with Zalon.

You don’t get true or any kind of progress with those things they describe. You may get a lot of regression though and some terrible judges appointed to the Supreme Court but hey let’s have a pity party because we can’t accept that our candidate lost fair and square so we feel we have to destroy the village in order to save it. I’ve had enough of the far left’s arrogant attitude. This is exactly why you’ve never succeeded in American politics because you’d rather enable an actual fascist than support someone who you have some disagreements with. Revolutions should be as rare as possible. They shouldn’t be temper tantrums thrown by people who don’t like reality. I’ll say it again. Leftist Bernie or Busters suffer from the privilege of easy disillusionment.

Too many damn people glorify revolution. It’s words to them…a concept. It’s not hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of dead family members. It’s so far removed from reality that they make it noble in their minds.

Ok, asshole…you first. You get shot through the stomach a few times…then decide if you still want revolution. You’re still alive to determine just how glorious it all is and whether you still think it’s a good thing.

There is a reason why most stable Democratic countries have had few revolutions. I remember a brother of a friend as early as 2000 saying it would be neat if there was another Civil War based on ideology and I just wanted to smack the kid. No concept at all on how terrible the Civil War was for this country. The revolutionaries are the same in how inconsiderate they are. It’s all about ideological purism to them.

People who say they want a revolution, on either the Right or the Left, just assume that it will only impact them positively, that everyone who matters will join in and they’ll sweep to victory and everyone will get their pony. And they don’t expect anything worse than inconvenience while it’s ongoing.

Take the ‘Article 5 Convention’ folks. They all think that 1) the Convention will only deal with THEIR issues, in THEIR preferred way, and 2) that it WON’T change anything else, like, say, the 2nd Amendment. Essentially, they want a Convention of the States to do things like get rid of Nancy Pelosi for them, but not take their guns or codify things like Marriage Equality. And for a lot of them, it’s basically about enshrining white supremacy while whites can still dominate.

On the Left, the folks who say they want revolution just don’t have the persistence that it takes to get actual shit done, so they want it served to them on a platter. They piss on incremental progress and are willing to risk it and all that it means to tens of millions of Americans, in hopes of getting the whole ball of wax all at once.

Hang on, isn’t one of the Trump University cases officially known as “Schneiderman v. Trump Entrepreneur Initiative LLC, 400965-2012”?

Why, yes it is.

Trump “bilked people out of millions of dollars,” Schneiderman said on ABC’s
“Good Morning America” — one of several television interviews Thursday in response to Trump’s recent defense of the school. “We’re going to make sure he pays it back.”
The state’s top legal official said in an earlier TV appearance that Trump had offered to settle with the state over Trump University. Instead, Schneiderman filed a lawsuit in 2013.

Hmm, wonder how well that turned out?

Someone here made the observation the other day that Bernie’s polls right now close to his ceiling. Teh Republicans haven’t gone after Bernie yet and make no mistake they would. They’d make this a third Red Scare and liken Bernie to Stalin and Mao. Would it be correct? No, but would they? Absolutely.

No, the supers will be swayed into picking a guy who has never actually led in the delegate count or popular vote at any time during the race. The whole question of momentum is nonsense, since even his 7 state run of wins didn’t close the gap any closer than it had been during Super Tuesday in March. Yeah, that’s what they’re left trying to argue.

And momentum lasted until NY, where Hillary thrashed him. And Hillary repeated that with the PR win, double digit NJ and CA wins, and will win DC for good measure.

Its a GOP fantasy to get to run against a real live self-professed socialist. Socialism is not popular in the US.

Not just a socialist but a socialist who has shown he’s not into pragmatism and compromising. Honestly, I look at it this way, if I as a staunch liberal have my worries about ohw Bernie will be able to implement a lot of his programs and honestly have some questions about their effectiveness how the hell is that supposed to play with more moderate voters?

Yeah, probably. But, again an insignificant population. OC has something like 15k voters. Trump will (probably) get the Purdue voting block.

He got very lucky in early March. A lot of very undiverse states with caucuses. It’s honestly been a catch up game for him ever since he lost South Carolina. His entire campaign sicne that day has been a series of one step forward, two steps back.

Oh, and the sitting president who just endorsed Hillary Clinton?

Turns out he’s a pretty popular guy these days.

That compares with the GOP, whose favorability ratings are only slightly higher than a dumpster fire (and that dumpster fire is Trump).

If you don’t think having a popular sitting president out there helping you win elections on your behalf, you’re not paying attention.

All the talk of Trump having closed on polling will disappear the moment the next post-Obama endorsement poll comes out.

That’ll sell papers of course, and there’s a lot that can happen between now and November.

So it’s no time to be complacent. GOTV is everything. Especially for down-ballot tickets.

A reminder that we’re not only go to miss Obama but also this gent. I can’t imagine Biden’s counterparts Palin or Ryan doing this at all. Joe Biden is one of the most genuinely decent people in politics. It still breaks my heart that he won’t be President because I think he would be a great one. It’s not that I dislike Clinton, it’s just that Joe Biden to me more than anyone exemplifies so much of what my philosophy is all about.

I think Americans like to think of revolution as a positive thing because the American Revolution was such a big success.

But America got lucky that time and there’s no guarantee they’ll be that lucky twice.

That’s true but I think they won’t be able to stop it. The insiders may loathe Trump but the people of the base want him. There was a poll released and most Republicans do not see his attacks on the judge as racist.

They certainly didn’t mind him mocking the reporter’s disability. It’s all about how it makes them look. Nate did a study of the NEver Trumps. A lot of them are in districts with more Hispanics.
