After Many Years of Ugly Anti-Gay Rhetoric, Hate-Blogger Jim Hoft Announces He’s Gay

The Stupidest Man on the Internet is now the Stupidest Gay Man on the Internet
Wingnuts • Views: 200,379

In today’s right wing plot twist, Jim Hoft, the fabled Stupidest Man on the Internet, who has been spouting virulent anti-gay rhetoric for many years and openly associating with homophobic hate groups, has written a post for Breitbart “News” in which he comes out of the closet: After the Pulse Club Massacre, It’s Time for Gays to Come Home to Republican Party.

Like most gay Americans, I don’t wear my sexuality on my sleeve. I go about my daily business. I try not to harm anyone. I love my family. I love my friends. I love my country.

I’ve been a conservative activist for years. But today I’m coming out as a conservative gay activist.

In the past few years I’ve built one of the most prominent conservative websites in America. I created The Gateway Pundit because I wanted to speak the truth. I wanted to expose the wickedness of the left. I was raised to love my country. Today I serve my country by defending her from the socialist onslaught.

The idea that gays should “come home” to the Republican Party is so delusional it beggars description; this is the party whose presidential candidates openly endorse a far right pastor who thinks gays should be executed, a party that works ceaselessly to deny basic rights to LGBT people, a party that has tried for years to pass amendments to the US Constitution that would permanently ban gay marriage, etc., etc. The list of Republican anti-gay positions is practically endless.

For Hoft to say he “tries not to harm anyone” and wants to “speak the truth,” well — wow. Again, this is the guy who for years has been propagating every fake and/or dishonest right wing conspiracy theory that bubbles out of the fever swamp, a guy who spread a completely phony story that the cop who shot Michael Brown in Ferguson had suffered major injuries after being attacked by Brown and used a crudely altered version of a CT scan to do it, a guy who often cites white supremacist websites and has even plagiarized them for his crummy right wing blog, a guy who often refers to black protesters with dehumanizing terms like “roaches.”

And when I criticized Hoft for citing a vicious anti-gay hate group (“Mass Resistance”) to spread a crazed fear-mongering fable about Obama’s Assistant Deputy Secretary for the Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools, Kevin Jennings, he publicly accused me of “supporting child porn in classrooms.”

While at first I was surprised to see this statement from Jim Hoft, I now realize it actually explains his long history of ugly anti-gay rhetoric; many studies have found that homophobic attitudes are more likely among deeply closeted individuals.

It makes sense for him to pick Breitbart “News” as his venue to make this announcement, since the most popular writer they have at the moment is a weird, self-hating gay man who openly supports white supremacists, frequently indulges in grotesque race-baiting, and hates women so much he accuses “feminized culture” of causing mass murders. The major difference between Milo Yiannopoulos and Jim Hoft is that Yiannopoulos can actually write two sentences without misspelling four words.

But I hope Hoft won’t be surprised to find that not all of his right wing readers are going to accept his revelation with equanimity. As I write, this is the very first comment at the top of the Breitbart “News” thread:

You “pray”, yet call God a liar by trying to justify your homosexuality. God is very clear that homosexuality is an ACTION and an abomination in His sight. So according to God, there is no “gay”. Only a sinful act that He hates.
As for me, the tragedy of it all is the 49 people who woke up in Hell yesterday because they knew not the Lord.

This is the SMOTI. It’s possible he doesn’t have a working definition of “gay”.

The fact that Jim is gay and chooses to remain a Republican only reinforces the fact that he is the stupidest man on the internet.

I said this downstairs, but I seriously doubt SMOTI is actually gay because of the timing of his “coming out”. It’s so ghoulishly opportunistic that it makes me think he’s pretending to be gay in a pathetic attempt to create a wedge between the Democratic Party and the LGBT community. This dude lies about everything else, so why not lie about this?

At the tactical (ISI) range in Ventura we had regular classes for the “Pink Pistols”. Gay gun club. Asked why GOP, they said “gay bashing=need gun rights, single issue voter”. FWIW.

Doesn’t the Ghey Mafia have a dress and appearance code? Hell, a friend of mine told me after looking in my closet “Steve even if you wanted to be gay, I’m not sure we would take you. There are standards you know.”

That’s the mindset of the assholes who are calling for the LGBT to “come home” to the GOP. How funny that it is almost exactly the same mindset as the dirtbag who killed 50 people yesterday…

He has had to be so self-hating he has needed to be closeted from himself. He had to be his own center of attention to maintain his untenable situation. He sees this ‘opportunity’ to come out as a way to keep attention on himself, while using the ‘evil’ of the crime’s perpetrator to make himself a victim. DARVO taken as a lifelong journey.

Where was Hoft when members of his party were attending a sermon by a man who thinks gay people should be executed? I don’t care if Hoft is gay or not but he’s spent years being part of and enabling an ideology and party that has grown more fanatically anti-gay as the years have gone by.

I’m wrecked, and I don’t have the post in me, but there’s something deeply fucked about how people declare ideology matters so selectively.

Anti-gay is anti-gay. The spinning abstractions of which God in which scripture doesn’t actually change the specific claims and the resulting actions.

Trump says “the only reason he was even in this country is because we let his family come here.”

We let his family come here in 1984. During the Reagan Administration. When Reagan was arming the Taliban, Duncan Hunter was praising the Taliban….

Yet somehow, it’s Obama’s immigration department who did this.

lawhawk  Jun 13, 2016 • 11:40:15am

I have no reason to doubt the sincerity of Hoft coming out. I wish him lots of luck in that. He needs it. And I say that sincerely. He really has a lot to deal with here, and he isn’t up to any of it.

Many people lie to themselves and those around them about their sexual orientation. Coming out is revelatory - both as to the person’s character/judgment and those around them.

If Hoft thinks that he’s going to find a sympathetic shoulder on the right, he’s going to find himself sadly mistaken. The right’s virulently anti-gay positions come up time and again. Whether it’s opposition to SSM or refusing to extend equal rights and protections for LGBT, the GOP isn’t missing an opportunity to gay bash. Or transgender bash, which seems to be their current “thing.”

It shouldn’t have taken a mass shooting for Hoft to come out. Nor should it result in him getting attacked for being gay by his former friends on the right. Yet that’s when he made the choice. And that’s why he’s now being attacked for being gay by his commenters.

That he’s also getting attacked by his commenters and right wingers for being gay shows just how much hate flows on the right, and that they’ll eat their own the moment you fall out of step on anything.

There’s absolutely no reason to think that any other LGBT would want to follow suit and join up with the right because they’ll find themselves beholden to a party that treats them as second class citizens or worse.

Hoft may now find himself as the token gay. That’s not a place anyone would want to be, not when you’ll be facing all manner of scorn, derision, and venom from the religious right - the same right wing that the GOP has aligned itself to at the hip.

This may, however, explain why Hoft is so pro-Trump. Trump’s the least anti-gay of those who were in the race (Rubio/Cruz) and it probably was Hoft rationalizing the decision that way.

Then again, it could be the cognitive dissonance striking once again.

After all, Hoft has spent years writing debased postings that support gay bashing politicians and those who seek to inflict all manner of criminality on being LGBT. That is when he’s not lying about most everything else (see Michael Brown).

Math. How does it work.

In the US, we have a mass shooting like clockwork. Once every 10 days or so. It’s not even once every 2 weeks.

In France, they had two mass shootings. In 15 years.
Yeah, they’re exactly alike.

Expand out to all of Europe, and you’ve got maybe a handful of mass shootings in Europe since 9/11. Most notably? The Norway shooter.

Two of my best friends as a teenager parents were Ukraine and Dutch (Netherlands). It was never spoken about. In any manner. I used to buy “Chinese apples”, which were pomegranates, from a small run down grocery store. A curtain was the only thing separating the house from the store, like so many in North Philly at that time. The woman, who would 9 times out of 10 be the one to take the money had the SS ink on her inner arm. I remember the first time I saw that, I was 8 or 9. I asked my mother when I went home. She told me. It was sad. An old Gypsy man, darker than a Mediterranean, sold soft pretzels in my neighborhood, with homemade mustard. I don’t think I ever have seen a sadder looking man. Now if you don’t agree with someone, they’re Nazi’s. Fuck off. But Trump is the closest I’ve seen to outright Fascism. Hugging an American flag, and promising the Fundies, he’s their boy. Yes. Wrapped in bunting and singing gospel. F him.

I have to revise and extend those comments.

Mass shooting isn’t a defined term that is used uniformly by law enforcement. The PBS map identified the locations of mass shootings where four or more people were killed or wounded. By that metric, there were at least 355 mass shootings in 2015 alone. That’s nearly 1 a day.

Mass shootings with 10 or more victims? That’s closer to the 1 every 10 day standard.

Any metric used to identify the carnage should sicken you to the core. Because far too many of these shootings could be prevented, or minimized with better enforcement of existing laws, banning certain kinds of firearms, or closing various loopholes - all steps that the NRA opposes.

Those genies are all the way out now. I just don’t even know where things go from here, even being a little generous and conceding an emphatic Clinton victory. What does this party look like in 2018?

There’s basically two ways this can go if the GOP is to survive, assuming a big Clinton win. One is that a giant defeat leads the party back towards the center (which will have likely moved leftward), think 1968 following the 1964 disaster. The other is that the GOP ends up in the wilderness for a generation (think the Democrats in the 1980s moving toward the Democratic Leadership Council). In that second scenario, it remains mostly a regional party (strong in the South and in the Great Plains states). Either way, for the party to remain a player, it is going to have to moderate and come to terms with America as it exists in the early twenty-first century, rather than the way they think it should exist.

The other alternative, is that the GOP finally and truly collapses. In that case, I have no idea what happens. Perhaps the socially conservative/economically populist wing (Huckabee types) forms something akin to an American Christian Democrat party (with a different name). Perhaps some sort of economically conservative, socially moderate (or even liberal), center right party forms. I honestly don’t know how that plays out.

I think the point of no return was crossed by the GOP a long time ago (Reagan era is where I’d put it). Ever since then, the GOP has been in the business of selling lies and hate to its base, and this formula has worked well enough to encourage its continued use.

Now with Trump, the rot that is the GOP has become more obvious than before.

Idiot Trump supporter attacks Obama for saying he doesn’t know the “motiff” of the shooter.

Obama insulted intelligiance of every American by saying that the motiff of the Orlando terroris act is not known

Posted on | June 12, 2016 | 2 Comments

We have already received reports that the Orlando terrorist, Omar Saddigui Mateen, called 911 and pledged his allegiance to ISIS. Witnesses reported that he yelled “Allahu Akbar” as he was murdering innocent Americans, yet Obama is saying that he does not know the motif.

Obama treats every American citizen as a brain-dead moron by lying and saying that the motif is unknown. The motif is known to Obama and everyone else. Mateen was a Muslim terrorist, who pledged allegiance to ISIS. It is time for us to put Trump in the White House and end this idiocy, this treason in the White House and end this wave of terror.

What true idiocy is to me is having a terrorist watch list and then allowing people on that watch list to be able to buy guns. You can debate the watchlist all you want but Republicans who do NOT object ot the watchlist’s existence have no problem with those people on that list being able to buy guns. They have no right at all to call Obama clueless.

Much like doctor-killing anti-abortionists, the Orlando terrorist was merely a right-wing thinker willing to actually carry out the actions that right-wing rhetoric demands. If you think abortion really is murder, and that millions are murdered every year, then if all you do is stand around with a gross dead-baby sign, you are a coward. If you think being gay is really a horrendous affront to creation, if all you do is yell “f*****” at a gay person, you are lazy and your God would be ashamed of you.

They gotta fix that.it is presumable costing them ad revenue given our disinterest after purchase. Kindle, of I keep seeing books I own on Kindle (well just rent right?) in my suggested reading list! Frustrating.

A couple weeks back, I got new shoes for the Challenger. I spent some time finding the best all-season tires, great rating, long wearing, very reasonable price. Ordered through Discount Tire, which ships to local shops to install.

Just getting back to the threads from earlier.

I feel sorry for Hoft to a degree. No one should be this fucked up.

And that is not a dig at gays. It’s a dig at a guy that seems to be in deep deep denial about, well, everything.

No way to go through life being this pathetic. It is no wonder he is a hater. He hates himself more and it all the rest of his hating comes from that black soul.

I don’t feel sorry for Hoft at all. There is absolutely no excuse for the kinds of things Hoft has done as part of the right wing noise/hate machine.

Evening Lizardim. I tell ya - I drop off the grid for 3 days for a relaxing fishing vacation, and everything goes to hell. Work goes all pear-shaped, somebody shoots up a gay nightclub and kills a whole bunch of people - what’s next, dogs and cats living together? I’m not going to say anything more about the shooting; I am, at least, glad that it didn’t come up as a topic of conversation with fishfolk, although there was plenty of talk from my dad and my highly conservative uncle about killing any “perverts” who dared to walk into a bathroom any of the granddaughters might be using. How go things among the lizardfolk on this cloudy, hot, humid, miserable downer of a Monday?

The Norway shooter.

en.wikipedia.org (have to combine stats from multiple tables)

Actually, we average about 32 to 33 mass shootings* a month. We have had over 90 mass killings (4 or more dead, and excluding family related or gang shootings) since 1966, and most of those a rather recent history.

*(4 or more victims shot but not necessarily killed, including family and gang shootings)
