These auto “jump to me” ads with no control to mute/stop are very annoying. Second time today I’ve gotten hung up on one and essentially have had to abandon a thread.

@wyethwire At some point, keeping the House in session prevents the House from beginning a new legislative day, which is needed to move new legislation
@wyethwire So *if* GOP had votes to pass a Zika bill, it would have to sit on the table for a legislative day.
@wyethwire There is only a limited number of pieces of legislation that the House can consider in this environment …
@wyethwire the vote you just saw was Congress exercising a constitutional duty to consider a veto by the President …
@wyethwire but its going to get harder and harder for the Speaker to interrupt this sit in with additional votes. The legislative cupboard is bare.
@wyethwire Another issue: Consideration of ANY other bill is going to be subject to debate. So if House tries to move to the Financial Approps bill …
@wyethwire … they’ll just be inviting hours of on the record debate on guns while they try to pass a rule to consider any new bills
@wyethwire Also, it’s Wednesday. That’s significant becuase you can’t suspend the rules to pass bills on a Thursday or Friday without a special rule
@wyethwire So the House CAN’T even name a post office under these circumstances.
@wyethwire Now. All that being said. The House is a small d- democratic dictatorship. If Speaker Ryan has 218 votes, he can reassert control.
@wyethwire Pending bills
HR 1270: Restoring Access to Medication Act
HR 5485: Financial Services Approps
HR 4768: Separation of Powers Restoration Act
@wyethwire And if you are watching Periscope/CSPAN off-camera Republicans are heckling Democrats right now. This won’t end well.
@wyethwire Worth noting that because we are in a parliamentary no man’s land while House is in recess, there are no rules of debate or decorum
@wyethwire Which is why you are watching a shouting match between Brad Sherman and Louie Gohmert right now.
@wyethwire This isn’t like a Senate filibuster. No one is under any obligation to keep speaking or hold the floor. Which is why it’s chaos now.

I’ve never been able to play feeds from NBC or MSNBC from their Websites or when embedded. I don’t have this problem with any other media outlet.

The revolution will have to be televised on a different network for me to see it.

What gets me about watching this is how much the Dems have framed the argument. Traditionally the GOP were the masters of framing, but hopefully the Dems have learnt a lesson from this and it could change everything. Forcing the GOP to vote FOR allowing suspected miscreants to buy guns. Genius.

Also getting a real sense of catharsis from the speakers. Just letting out 8 years (and more) of taking the GOPs bullshit. Hopefully this is the attitude for the future.

A Democratic representative apologising on the House floor now for leaving for several hours.

The reason: He was at the Colombian Embassy receiving an award for being a member of the Peace Corps in Medellin, Columbia during the time the drug cartels made it the murder capital of the world.

During the protests at the Wisconsin State Capitol over Walker’s treatment of state employees, a local pizza place blew up big time with people calling in to donate pizzas to the protesters. Hopefully someone will identify a good local place on #nobillnobreak if the protests continue.

This man is an embarrassment to humanity. Although he had a career in the military, is a trained lawyer, and was a state judge, no intelligent person would believe it because he says the dumbest, most unhinged sh*t of anyone in Congress. Omar Mateen could believe whatever he wanted to believe, but if he hadn’t had those guns he took into the Pulse Nightclub, everyone there would still be alive. According to Gohmert, the guns Mateen had didn’t kill 49 people, a word did. He’s a SAMF.
