The Labor Department confirmed to POLITICO that it’s looking into allegations of wage-rule violations by the Craftsmen Group, a Trump Organization subcontractor that restores windows. And workers on the site, including one Craftsmen Group employee, told POLITICO that they and others aren’t receiving pay rates mandated by law. Two of them produced pay stubs to support their claims.

The jury has ruled Led Zeppelin did not steal Stairway to Heaven from Spirit. I agree with the decision. It’s not an exact match and the basic chord progression is extremely common, used in many songs for many years. It would be like saying everyone who ever used a I-IV-V chord progression stole it from the Kingsmen’s “Louie Louie.”

Israel Rabbinate: Ivanka Trump Is Not Jewish

A chance discussion at the Petah Tikva Rabbinical Court revealed that the Israeli Rabbinate does not recognize conversions to Judaism overseen by Rabbi Yehezkel Lockstein from New York, who converted Ivanka Trump, the daughter of the US presidential candidate. The meaning: neither Ivanka nor her children would be recognized by authorities as Jewish.

Actually… the 2nd Amendment (and specifically the “well-regulated militia” terminology) is because Virginia, Georgia, the Carolinas, needed those militias to put down slave uprisings. They were afraid that non-slave states would disarm those militias as a backdoor way of eliminating slavery (slaves outnumbered slave-holders by a vast margin, and if the militias were disarmed it would take all of ten minutes for the slaves to free themselves).

In response to DF downstairs:

No, it is Republicans’ continued inability to do their goddamn jobs that will get you more sit ins.

The only real problem DF had with this sit in was that it was politically useful for team (D). Had Congressional Republicans found a reason to do something like this, then DF would approve of precisely the same tactics.

It is as mindless as sports ball team fans picking either team A or team B to root for. But politics is real in a way that sports ball is not. Standing with team A or B has no consequences. Standing with team (D) or team (R) is consequential.

You don’t get to root for team (R), vote for team (R) and continually make excuses for team (R) without taking ownership of those acts.

It is meaningless for a Republican to state his opposition to neo-Confederacy, because the Republicans are the party of neo-Confederacy.

It is meaningless for a Republican to state his opposition to creationism, because the Republicans are the party of creationism.

It is meaningless for a Republican to state his opposition to willful stupidity, because the Republicans are the party of willful stupidity.

It is meaningless for a Republican to state his opposition to bigotry, because the Republicans are the party of bigotry.

Voting for Republicans in contested general elections is a vote for all of the above. For a Republican to then say that they don’t believe in such things is simply a lie.
