Trump Finally Responds to Antisemitic Meme Outrage: “Dishonest Media”

Claims it was a “sheriff’s star”
Politics • Views: 48,747

For the past two days Donald Trump has been letting his surrogates like Corey Lewandowski and Jeffrey Lord float the ludicrous excuse that the Star of David graphic in that antisemitic image he tweeted was a completely innocent “sheriff’s star” that had nothing to do with antisemitism.

This is despite the fact that it’s now proven to have been created by a racist alt-right antisemite, and was posted weeks before Trump’s tweet at a message board for neo-Nazis and white supremacists.

This morning, after ignoring the issue all weekend, Trump picked up that insultingly stupid “sheriff’s badge” excuse from his lackeys and parroted it himself on Twitter.

If this was just an innocent geometric shape devoid of any meaning, why did Trump delete the original tweet and replace it two hours later with a hastily edited version of the same graphic with a circle in place of the star?

Also, why did someone delete or crop out the original creator’s Twitter handle from the image Trump tweeted — if not to conceal its origin? Here’s a comparison, with Trump’s edited image on the left, and the original on the right:

As we’ve pointed out many times here at LGF, Trump has a long history of retweeting and associating with extremists of all kinds. Without this context it might be possible to accept this antisemitic image as a simple unforced error. With the context… no way.

It’s clear this is and has been a deliberate strategy for Trump all along, to pander to the most extreme elements of the right wing base in a sleazy, semi-hidden way that he can then deny when called out.

And the only people falling for this any more are his own followers.

Dishonest media is trying their absolute best to depict a star in a tweet as the Star of David rather than a Sheriff’s Star, or plain star!

Why can’t Trump decide on a single excuse!! Not presidential! Sad!

The source is the most telling aspect. Pretty difficult to deny that it’s meant to point to Jews when it comes from a white supremacist.

there is a good reason that all sheriff’s stars have little circles at the points: a metal object with five, six, or seven sharp points pinned to your shirt can, obviously, easily prick your skin and draw blood

so here’s a primer: if it dont have the little circles at the points, it aint a sheriff’s badge

The context of the graphic makes no sense if it’s a sheriff’s badge.

Clinton’s picture, over a pile of money, with a Star of David.

or

Clinton’s picture, over a pile of money, with a sheriff’s badge.

One makes sense and has a clear meaning, one doesn’t. If it was a sheriff’s badge… why put a statement inside of it? As if sheriff’s are corrupt too? If there was an implication of law enforcement involvement in the graphic then hand cuffs or jail bars would have made more sense.

(I’m going to repost this from below because it’s the long weekend of the Fourth of July, because Nigel Farage turned tail and ran, and because I really like this song.)

Lots of reasons for me to post this Del Amitri song today.

I saw them play on the MN state capitol grounds when this song was new on a fourth of July weekend. It was a blazing hot day and there was no cover over the stage. They warned us that, as Scotts, they weren’t used to this kind of heat and might fall over, but they made it through a blistering, great set.

The song is also a dedication to all of the Brexit voters who’s leaders have all turned tail and run. It’s a great song on it’s own from a favorite Scottish band.

Odd how pointing out vile or prejudiced comments by one’s favored candidate is so often characterized as “ridiculous and desperate”. Yeah, I guess you really have to desperate to have to resort to citing things said candidate has actually said, or point out the actual origin of his crapola.

That’s a great thing to hear (well, the part about The Kid, anyway!)

I won’t quote because of the privacy tag, but I’m old enough to remember when driving on the Interstate was a really relaxing experience. Then they lowered the speed limit to 55. All of a sudden you had a bigger velocity spread there than on the surface streets, and it became nerve-wracking.

Once upon a time, we were free to have no health insurance, and let other people pay for it when we got sick. We were free to buy ‘health insurance’ that really did nothing, so that we let other people pay for it when we got sick. We were free to be denied insurance if we had had cancer, or high blood pressure, or diabetes. We were free to lose out insurance if we ever used it.

Those were the days.

When the GOP is forced to choose between labor as a positive social value, key to the American dream of a better life for oneself and one’s family as well as a means of imparting key American values like initiative and self-reliance, and the notion of of labor as just another commodity to be traded as cheaply as possible to keep profits up, then they have, despite all lip service to the former, come out fully on the side of the latter…

What gets me is they complain about immigrants not speaking English to their liking but they also get pissy about accents. You’re not going to have a person who has spent the first 30 years of their life out of an English speaking country to not have their native accent. Hell and if the fundie wingnuts had their way, women wouldn’t work which would make it even harder for them to learn English. The people in my family line who typically didn’t learn English were women who worked inside the home.

I’ve made the argument in the past that reducing the top marginal rates hurt wages because there is now a huge incentive to pull the maximum profit out of the enterprise. As opposed to higher marginal rates, when an employer knew he would just have to pay most of the extra cash back in taxes, he might as well pay it to the workers. In fact, paying the employees would be better than hoarding the profit as cash (or investing in equipment) because that extra cash would show up on the bottom line as profit.

In fact, paying the employees would be better than hoarding the profit as cash (or investing in equipment) because that extra cash would show up on the bottom line as profit.

I look at this way, you pay a decent wage, you get more productive workers. And more productive workers I think is better for business. This idea that paying employees poor wages is the way to profitability is madness.

Straight men shouldn’t have to make that choice to click on stuff they just don’t want to see … except that it’s there.

Ultimately you want your workers to also be consumers. Ford to his credit got this. Here’s another gripe I have though. This idea that teen workers don’t need the money. Uh yeah they do. Many teenagers are paying for a car or are saving up for college. And when someone joins the workforce, they join the economy. A teenage worker may not have to worry about housing in a way his parents do but he still does have things to worry about. It’s totally different from a child whose parents pretty much purchase everything for them.

Yep, they just see the employees as expenses rather than individuals. It’s an irony that has made the right’s vision of capitalism alot like what communism began when workers just became parts of the system rather than individuals trying to provide.

if you do a google image search on “sheriff’s badge”, almost all of them have blobbie things

Our sheriff uses a seven-pointed star with the blobbie things on the ends. (I presume our county doesn’t want to see the sheriff or deputy impaled on their badges if they have to wrestle a suspect down or a steer back into a pasture.)

It’s not a sheriff’s star not because of its shape (sheriff’s stars can have that exact shape) but because of the context. Sheriff’s star doesn’t fit any possible context whatsoever.

Indeed. Krugman and others have pointed to low marginal rates as having a significant role in causing asset bubbles like the internet stock bubble of the late 1990s, and the Mortgage Backed Securities bubble which almost took down the world economy. When there are people with a lot of money, they go looking for places to put it that are high-yielding. Because money pours in, that market BECOMES high yielding as demand drive up prices. People see prices rising and say ‘Shit! I gotta get in on that!!’

Then one day, somebody realizes that’s WAY too much to pay for (whatever), and everything starts going all bad.

SEE IT: Animal rights activists crash Nathan’s Famous hot dog eating contest, grab frankfurter from contestant’s hand

Animal rights activists crashed the annual Nathan’s Famous hot dog eating contest, rushing the stage and grabbing a frank from the hand of contestant Crazy Legs Conti.

The protestors were dressed as contest supporters, wearing red shirts and white straw hats with the Nathan’s 100 anniversary logo.

Police said three protestors were taken into custody after they jumped the stage and sprayed ketchup on several contestants.

Direct Action Everywhere, a grassroots animal rights network, took credit for the protest saying it threw fake blood to “represent the violence of animal agriculture.”

“This grotesque event takes a day of celebration and turns it into a festival of violence and gore for animals no different than our dogs and cats,” activist Rachel Zeigler said in a statement released after the contest.

Spreading Positivity through Jesus Christ

Friends, I invite you to ponder the image above. The beautiful woman is Christy Sheats. The Texas wife and mother who is being vilified in the media for shooting and killing her teenage daughters. It makes for a great headline in mainstream media but what goes unsaid is even more powerful.

A devout Republican and gun rights advocate, she no doubt discovered that both of her daughters had been promiscuous and were sleeping with black boys and she took it upon herself to put an end to that cycle. She was brave enough to stand up and say ENOUGH! Not in MY house! And she should be lauded.

Filed under Can’t Tell If Trolling. Nothing more ‘positivity’ than celebrating murdering your daughters for dating black boys.

re: #215 HappyWarrior

That’s in part because of the tea party horseshit that the GOP let slide because they knew it would help their “team” win. It started off with the birther thing and “we just want our country back!!!” whining when they invaded and took over local town hall meetings that in the past had been mostly just meet and greets. Once that door was inched open the racists and bigots took their fucking jackboots and kicked it the hell open wide.

I don’t think people who don’t live in the South get how prevalant that shit is here still. I moved to GA from Ohio around 30 yrs ago. I hadn’t been here maybe 6 months and I was riding my bike home one afternoon and saw a whole flock of KKK fuckers came out of the woods by my apartment complex. Robes and all. It freaked me the hell out.

Less than three miles from me is an openly racist asshole that owns a “memorablia shop” in the “historic” part of town. There is a sign on his shop door that says White History Month. Confederate flags all over the place, anti Obama slogans on the building, and inside there are reproductions of lynching photos. It’s a KKK front, they barely try to hide it. And he’s a member of the local Chamber of Commerce and was voted Businessman of the Year not that long ago. He also runs a “camp” for little civil war reinactors. So um, yeah, that shit is blatant as hell. And it’s not the Democrats that do this shit anymore, it’s all on the GOP, since at least the early to mid 1960s. They OWN this shit and they should have to clean it up but they aren’t even bothering.

I want to know how you can say the KKK are leftists and at the same time parrot them and attack liberals for being multicultural. The right knows the KKK is bad but that their ideology is so twisted that they see it as liberal is telling IMO. At least the KKK knows what tehy are I guess. I look at this way, you pay a decent wage, you get more productive workers. And more productive workers I think is better for business. This idea that paying employees poor wages is the way to profitability is madness.

My employees are your customers and your employees are my customers. If we don’t pay them more than starvation wages we have far fewer customers.

OFFS. I just can’t with these assholes rewriting everything that ever happened in the history of ever anymore. This liberal was scared shitless. My husband was in Texas on business that day. My son was in school. My husband had to rent a car he shared with a bunch of other people and drive home to Atlanta. I cried my eyes out for weeks after. Once the dust started to settle and the more I heard I knew we were going to war and I knew this country was going to end up fighting amongst ourselves to the degree it would do real damage. But hey what do I know? I know not a single liberal who thought any of this was cause for celebration. I wish I could say the same about the people who decided to use that day as a way to keep us divided, some of them GOP operatives from GA. (Ralph Reed, Newt Gingrich, etc)

The whole tone and atmosphere changed here. I knew this place was conservative, but you could talk to conservatives then and not end up in a scream fest. It’s not like that now, it just isn’t. They’ve been mainlining too much crap online, on talk radio and on Fox News and they believe every word.

I just ask them to name the candidates and party affiliation of the people running for president in 1860. Since they pretty much all can’t do that I remind them that one was a Southern Democrat and another was Democrat. Two separate parties with different platforms. The Southern Democrats started the KKK and later mostly changed parties to the Republicans.

Yue, a Republican National Committee member from Oregon and longtime rules expert, is trying to block the revolt by proposing that any changes made by the convention rules committee go into effect only after the convention.

It would be a modern first, but Yue argues it’s necessary. “I want to defend … constitutional principles. The most important one is the rule of law,” he said. “That is the cornerstone of this Republican Party.”

I’ll take the fifth, or maybe a quart.

He of course would not be affected by Mr. Trump’s anti-Semitic ravings.

Still fits with my observation that the overwhelming majority of conservatives do not have empathy unless it is for a person they personally know, or themselves.

While someone can point to this or that person on the left that might do the same, there is no real comparison. Conservatives ran up that score a long time ago.

Candidate for Washington governor goes on an incredible wingnut anti-Semitic rant on his Website over Elie Wiesel and “so-called Jewish charities.”

I will not quote his vile derp here (nor his upside-down American flag on his page, nor his portrayal of Bill Gates as a Nazi in a drawing).

He then goes on to attack Oprah Winfrey, accusing her of the same “crimes” he accuses Mr. Wiesel.

governor5.com

His name is David W. Blomstrom.

A single quote from the front page of his Website should be sufficient:

I may be the only candidate in the nation who’s taking on the Jewish Mafia and likely the only one holding Bill Gates accountable as well. My campaign may even put a new word in the dictionary: jewarchy (see jewarchy.com for more information).

Bolivia’s president wants to use an indigenous calendar, but are his motives genuine?

The current year, 2016, is based on a Christian calendar, thus the meager 2,000-plus years. Bolivia’s President Evo Morales says it’s time for his country to adopt a calendar that’s more culturally relevant to his people. And according to that calendar, it’s the year 5524.

[…]

“He’s not doing anything unique. Evo Morales is a guy who always likes to stick his finger in the eye of North Americans,” says Urton. “He’ll phrase it in a way that it’s against Americans and Europeans. He is the first indigenous president of South America. He’s always been intent on taking Bolivia back, in the Trumpian sense, to an ideal moment of unity.”

[…]

I wonder what Drumpfskind would think of being compared to Morales, and vice versa.

Yet I think the Strongman type can be applied to either.

The new year date, btw, is quite arbitrary. It’s just another wacky Morales idea to plant himself in history.

Upon thinking about it… yes, Morales and Drumpfskind have much in common.

Nyet  Jul 4, 2016 • 4:32:52pm

OK, that guy is funny in a non-funny way:

I’m essentially a liberal, but I can’t stand (most of) the liberals in this country. I think of myself as more of a left-winger in the tradition of Che Guevara.
• My heroes include Che Guevara, Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez and Muammar Gaddafi.
• I call a spade a spade, and if that spade’s name rhymes with Obama, Hillary Clinton or Bill Gates I’ll probably call it an “asshole.” On the other hand, I’m not as uncivil as the freaks who support the war on terror and regard playing war games on Xbox as a form of entertainment.
• I hate more people than I can count. I think Obama, Hillary Clinton and George W. Bush should be executed for treason and war crimes. There are virtually thousands of people in Seattle who I consider “virtual pedophiles.”
• I loved my students enough to risk (and eventually lose) my career fighting for them.
• I do not support the war on terrorism.
• I do not support the troops except when they’re defending U.S. citizens from aggression, something which last happened during the War of 1812 (and arguably during WWII, but that’s a little complicated).
• I do NOT believe the lying politicians and media whores who claim 9/11 was orchestrated by a bunch of goat herders hiding in a cave in Afghanistan. I believe it was a “false flag operation,” the work of the U.S. government and/or Israel.
• I do not salute the flag or stand for the national anthem.
• I think Bill Gates is one of history’s greatest con men and a global monster who has negatively impacted the lives of millions of people around the world. He could be more dangerous than George W. Bush and Obama.
• I don’t hate all Jews, but I think that the corruption in the Jewish community (aka Jewarchism) is simply extraordinary and poses a threat to all of humanity.
• I regard Israel as an illegitimate terrorist state.
• I’m spiritual — very spiritual. I think the idea that the U.S. is a Christian nation is absurd and disgusting. Freedom of religion means freedom from religion. In that spirit, I think the words “In God We Trust” should be removed from our currency. And if you think that’s an attack on Christianity, you have it exactly backwards.
• I’m not stupid. I run for office for a variety of reasons, and I really can’t be defeated. Even if I don’t make it past the primary election, my Jewarchy campaign alone ensures that I’ll still be in action for a long time to come. See my Jewarchy Plan of Action.
• I’m not offended in the least when I hear minorities deride white people. Nor does it bother me to hear people run down the United States or see them burn the flag. I understand the reason for their pain and rage. So if you’re offended by my words and ideas, then you’re probably an immature asshole, similar to that Seattle media whore who performed community service after shooting a neighbor’s dog. (Hint: His name rhymes with Frank Blethen.) I encourage you to vote for a Demopublican or for that invisible socialist, Mary Martin.

So one of the benchmarks of Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign is that - even before the convention - it stacks up unfavorably against Mitt Romney 2012???

Anybody else notice this: that if Donald Trump didn’t have a day job, and was, say, a full-time (or even part-time) blogger, his internet output would resemble nothing so much as Ben Shapiro with a better suit?

ETA: And while it’s equally stupid and vile, Baby Ben’s crapola is, amazingly, much better-written than Trump’s.
