Watch Live: FBI Director Comey Testifies at Ridiculous House Hearing

Politics • Views: 55,146

Of course House Republicans are going to try to extract some more political idiot juice out of the FBI’s recommendation not to indict Hillary Clinton. These lovely folks are greatly frustrated that one of their last hopes to take down Clinton before the election is now dashed, and they’re not going to just sit back and be reasonable — they’re going to waste more public money on a political circus.

So here’s the live video feed from ringside.

re: #862 The Ghost of a Flea

If I wrote a “history” of some distant third-world country where the government just kept trying and investigating people for the same thing until they were found guilty, lots of Americans that support the Benghazi hearings and this current mess with Comey would nod sagely about the folly of it.

Targetpractice  Jul 7, 2016 • 11:18:50am

Comey stated earlier that he gave that editorialized presser on Tuesday because he wanted to set precedent for future Directors to explain their reasoning if ever they find themselves under the situation.

I’m beginning to think that, in his mind, he majorly regrets that decision now.

I understood from a video snippet that they were classified but were not properly marked as classified (which makes those not marking them properly guilty, not Hillary) - have I understood that incorrectly?

I can’t watch any more of this nonsense.

If it were me testifying I’d start every answer with “let’s compare this to the similar instances of you, Mr. Chairman, and your BFF Trey Gowdy, leaking classified information.”

GOP has been trying to set up grounds for a perjury case. After Cummings testimony, I think any reasonable prosecutor handed this case would laugh in their faces.

Good on Rep. Cummings on pointing out the lawyers had classified clearance. I recall reading about that when she sent the emails to her lawyers to sort.

Of course not, they think this is gold. You could see the shit-eating grin on Chaffetz’s face earlier when Comey said he’d not been given a referral to review Hillary’s testimony in regards to Benghazi and Chaffetz promised he’d have the referral by end-of-day. They’re absolutely convinced they have her right where they want her, that they’ve failed to get her on these charges but now have basis for a perjury charge. That’s why it came as such a shock to them when they found out she wasn’t under oath during her FBI interview.

The human brain is the best data integrator and synthesizer in the known universe.

People don’t get just how hard, how fundamentally unnatural it is to maintain sensitive information discipline. Putting every fact, every bit of analysis, every detail into different mental bins is incredibly challenging, and it’s a task that is doomed to failure. Information will leak, things will be mislabeled or mishandled, loose lips will sink the occasional ship. You do your damnedest to do everything right, and no failure goes completely unpunished, but the task is impossible to conduct perfectly.

Some of the media, like the Washington Post, are running with an argument that Comey admits Hillary lied about some answers, thus lying under oath, and the GOP will go after this to get Hillary like they did with Bill lying under oath about his blowjob. This will not end until they can get something on her, and Comey “editorializing” the announcement and exaggerating this in the hearing now is bad news for her.

Clinton Lawyer Informs Congress About Security Clearance, Email Safeguards

David Kendall, in letter to Congress, said he and a law firm partner hold “Top Secret” clearance from the State Department.

Only two lawyers at Williams & Connolly had access to a government-installed safe that contained thumb drives with thousands of Hillary Clinton’s State Department emails, one of the attorneys, David Kendall, said in a letter to a Senate committee that was obtained by The National Law Journal. Kendall said he and partner Katherine Turner hold “Top Secret security clearances issued by the Department of State.”

polling data continues to look bad for trump - only rassmussen has shown him ahead in the past month or so, and today’s rassmussen has him up only 2 as opposed to up 4 last week. other matchups show him losing ground as well

there are three plus months of hard slogging, character assasination, and trying to define your opponent before they define you ahead, and trump vows that any day now his campaign will “really” get started

I’m getting downright paranoid about how I store my guns. I keep them in a safe of course. It is inside a locked closet. Those are just standard precautions. Here lately I have taken to keeping a written log in the safe even though I am the only one who can open it. This lists all 8 guns and I make a point of checking them all off each and every time I open the safe. If I remove one I make a note of the reason, “working in field,” or “range practice,” for example. And, yes, I usually do have a gun with me when I am working around the ranch. Ammosexuals might well point an accusing finger and claim that this is the same practice I deride when the open carry kooks engage in at Kroger and Walmart. The difference is that Kroger and Walmart are not infested with feral hogs and rattlesnakes.

I wonder how slim a lead Rasmussen will cling to.

Well, at least one other Democratic candidate filed for the primary in August

Rep. Corrine Brown to face federal charges

The indictments are sealed, and details are sketchy, but may stem from Brown’s involvement in a group called “One Door for Education,” which advertised itself as a charity, but was never a registered nonprofit. One Door’s president Carla Wiley entered a guilty plea of Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud charges in early March

Me too. Redwood National and State Parks in N. CA had an office broken into and had to do that to get the broken door fixed and a computer replaced. Congress is slacking on this because they want corporate sponsorship of the parks system and they really want to be able to sell off that land to the highest bidder. It’s fucking disgusting. There’s enough commericalization around the parks, hell you can build right up to the damned property line in a lot of places now. I have never seen such short sighted, selfish and greedy assholes. The only place I ever read about worse humans in America was the robber baron era and what was done to build the railroads in this country. After several experiments, I’ve settled on a Ruger Blackhawk .357, loaded alternately with .38 shotshells for snakes and hard ball .357 for hogs. Not using expanding bullets might be a mistake with hogs, but I think penetration should be a priority if the thick skinned critters are charging and you have one chance at a head shot.

This happened to a co worker at Guilford Courthouse NMP. She is an African American federal LE ranger and carries a badge and a gun:

She and her family were visiting her sister in NYC. Her son was 16 or 17 at the time, and they were at her sisters home when her son opened the door to go outside. He was immediately grabbed by NYPD officers passing by who loudly accused him of having an outstanding warrant.

My co-worker ran through the house with her badge, trying to head off her husband before he got there and made things worse (and got everybody killed) and finally got the NYPD to let go of her kid.

An unusual weapon from World War I was removed Thursday from an ordinary house in Dinwiddie County.

The front yard was home for decades to the German-made Minenwerfer - a mine launcher or short-barreled cannon - used extensively during the war by the German Army.

It’s now in the hands of its rightful owner, the Virginia National Guard.

Leet (or “1337”), also known as eleet or leetspeak, is an alternative alphabet for many languages that is used primarily on the Internet. It uses various combinations of ASCII characters to replace Latinate letters. For example, leet spellings of the word leet include 1337 and l33t; eleet may be spelled 31337 or 3l33t.

The term leet is derived from the word elite. The leet alphabet is a specialized form of symbolic writing. Leet may also be considered a substitution cipher, although many dialects or linguistic varieties exist in different online communities. The term leet is also used as an adjective to describe formidable prowess or accomplishment, especially in the fields of online gaming and in its original usage - computer hacking.

LE sources on the Alton Sterling shooting make this look like a fucking SWATTING revenge call that pulled the cops out there.

A panhandler kept demanding money from Mr Sterling and Sterling told him to get lost.

The bum dropped a dime to the police in retaliation.

Fuck.
ktla.com

Not sure that qualifies as a SWATTING. Panhandlers may be annoying, but displaying his gun like that is called menacing. Unless the panhandler was getting violent you can’t do that and calling the cops isn’t uncalled for. What the cops did once they got there on the other hand…

Doesn’t matter to me. I’ll respect Bernie a little less
or a lot less depending on the character of his endorsement and how he follows it up. He spent most of his campaign pointing out the corrupt character of our political system and running against one of its most corrupt politicians. So an endorsement by him better be larded with sarcasm and back-handed complements. Otherwise Sanders isn’t any different from the folks he spent a year trashing, as far as I’m concerned.

He can endorse anyone he wants. I won’t vote for Hillary, though. I’ll vote third-party, and most likely Green.

From the article linked

Sterling was selling CDs early Tuesday outside the Triple S Food Mart in Baton Rouge, the source said, when the homeless man approached him and asked for money.

The man was persistent, and Sterling showed him his gun, the source said.

“I told you to leave me alone,” Sterling told the man, according to the source

The homeless man then used his cell phone to call 911, the source said.

Sad, but, in the end, not surprising
Bernie used the Democratic party machinery to get as far as he did.

I’m sorry he feels the necessity to “endorse” what he’s been speaking out against for his entire campaign.

But that’s his action.

As for me, I WILL NOT VOTE FOR CLINTONS (it’s both of them) no matter what Bernie, Elizabeth, Obama or anyone else threatens, uses fear, intimidation, blame, the whole litany of what will be thrown. I would rather see a President Trump, than another 8 scandal/drama filled years of more Clintons. With nothing to stop them, no need to try to protect their political viability, we’d have endless wars, and theft of tax payer money, and crime. NO MORE CLINTONS.

Clintons are corrupt, cowardly, criminal, selfish, SELFISH, power hungry megalomaniacs, who will never have enough money or power. NO MORE CLINTONS.

Enough is Enough

Yes, it was potential menacing depending on circumstances. Panhandlers are also menacing or threatening quite often and My Steward may well have thought the guy was crazy or dangerous. Unfortunately, he is dead and we cannot get his side.

In any event, he was not threatening store customers, and the panhandler was pissed off and took revenge. SWATTING from I see.

This is truly disappointing.
I had held out hope that Bernie could announce he’d vote for her, and leave it at that. I wasn’t old enough then to remember, but wasn’t there some sort of precedent for this in the ’70s?

I wish Bernie wouldn’t compromise himself like this. Endorsement flies in the face of everything he has ever said, and stood for. But I guess it’s the nature of the game when you choose to “work within the system.”

Regardless, I’m never, ever voting for that lying, corrupt, in-it-for-herself harpy.

He’s waited long enough that his endorsement is largely irrelevant, because most of his voters already moved on. And in doing this, he didn’t look so much revolutionary as bitter and egotistical. Maybe he can turn this into a good thing by actually working hard for her election, but I almost don’t care anymore.

He’s not on my ‘Shit List’. He’s on my ‘Can’t Be Bothered To Give A Shit List’.

What ever the fuck you do, apparently, do not be black and have a CCW and a weapon. Do not move. If asked to get your DL and registration, get them…but don’t move while you are getting them. Also, don’t mention you have a CCW. You will be shot. Of course, the officer will shoot you anyway if he finds you do have a weapon and you didn’t tell him. In fact, just don’t drive at all.

Bottom line: Don’t be Black or Brown.

On April 24, Gingrich placed third in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New York, Fourth in Pennsylvania, and a distant second in Delaware.

Gingrich, if he wasn’t, you know… Gingrich, would actually be a good running mate for Trump. Gingrich was, after all, the Speaker of the House, so he actually has experience in Washington. He also has some conservative bona fides, and in a normal year there’d be certain segments of the GOP base worried about Trump being off reservation on their pet issues, whereas Gingrich has spent 30 years checking conflicting boxes to satisfy the GOP base.

But at the end of the day, he’s Newt effing Gingrich, with all his baggage. And it would likely be a disaster if he were on the ticket. Then again, it will be a disaster with Trump on the ticket, so there’s that…

I’m guessing that’s because Trump won’t actually read the reports or listen to any presentation? So it’s basically like he’s not getting them anyway.

I’d set the over under at 3.5 days after the first classified briefing for Trump slipping up and disclosing something classified.

Mom HAD the vaccine shot in 2008, and this is her first case of shingles. I thought it was one of the “take once and you’re covered” vaccines, but the nurse practitioner said you need to repeat it about every seven years. Checked the CDC site and it says protection lasts about five years. Don’t know if Medicare will cover it, but once Mom’s cleared this bout we’re going to get another shot no matter what it costs. She does not need to go through this again.

Another good reason to vaccinate kids against Chicken Pox. When I was a kid, everyone saw it as pretty benign. Some folks even organized ‘Chicken Pox Parties’ so that their kids could get it out of the way and not have to miss school.

But it never leaves you, and when you get older and your immune system weakens, the protection left over from the original infection attenuates and the next thing you know - Shingles.
