An Additional Six Women Detail Alleged Sexual Harassment By Fox News Chief Roger Ailes

Roger Ailes biographer and New York magazine writer Gabriel Sherman is reporting statements from six more women detailing alleged sexual harassment by Ailes.

In a July 9 article at New York, Sherman prints statements from six more women accusing Ailes of harassment. According to Sherman, “more than a dozen women have contacted Carlson’s New Jersey-based attorney, Nancy Erika Smith, and made detailed allegations of sexual harassment by Ailes over a 25-year period dating back to the 1960s when he was a producer on The Mike Douglas Show.” Sherman spoke to two women on the record and an additional four who “requested anonymity for reasons that include shame and fear of retribution.”

The stories include one from former Republican National Committee field adviser Kellie Boyle, who says Ailes solicited sexual favors after meeting her for dinner in 1989 when she was in Washington, DC, to “sign a major contract with the National Republican Congressional Committee.” Ailes allegedly told her, “You know if you want to play with the big boys, you have to lay with the big boys.”

Maybe if a few dozen more come forward, the public will begin to believe it…that is what we learned from the Bill Cosby thing.

Snort. These people are just pathetic.

On a brighter note, if you haven’t read any of Nadia Bolz-Weber’s work, you’re missing something pretty cool. I love a clergy person who drops f-bombs. I was reading her book Pastrix: The Cranky, Beautiful Faith of a Sinner and Saint last night and while I cried a little, I also felt much better. She’s the lead clergy of the Church of All Sinners and Saints in Denver. I finished reading Accidental Saints: Finding God in All the Wrong People awhile ago and decided to get the other book too. I find her words comforting when bad shit happens.

I know few details of our host’s musical career, but do know that life as a professional musician can be brutal. I started college studying music composition, but spoke to too many professionals who warned against a career in music. That, combined with seeing some insanely talented musicians barely scraping by, convinced me that a different career path would be prudent.

If you look at the industry, you see many examples of skilled, talented musicians struggling, while also seeing some mediocre talents (who happened to be in the right place at the right time) having great financial success. Talent, ability and hard work are no guarantee of success. And these days, with so much music being available without the artist seeing a dime, touring is often the only way to earn much money.

Based on my very limited experience and from discussions with working musicians, touring should be considered one of the circles of hell. As I said, brutal. Choosing to avoid that pain could be considered a sign of sanity. ;-)

Oh, and the whitesplaining about how to properly protest. Walk quietly in nice straight lines and don’t block traffic. Oh and don’t be too loud, you know how loud “those people” are. And besides, their energy could be spent on doing something constructive. (yeah, and then maybe when they’re done they’ll get pulled over for a broken tail light and get shot to death)

I guess the upside of all this is that my Christmas list is a LOT smaller this year. Fuck these people. I don’t care how long I’ve known them. I regret it now. re: #102 A Mom Anon

Yep. He and about 90 percent of the morons on Facebook. I swear to Baby Jesus I am over this nonsense.

I’m really feeling sad and angry right now. And The Husband wants to go out to a movie and dinner and the last fucking thing I want to do is see a bunch of people today. I need to make sure I take extra tissues in my purse, I have a feeling I’m going to be crying a lot. Probably forever.

I guess they were none of the TEA party assholes who spent entire hours shouting down their Congressmen, right?

That creates the setting for a de facto coup, in which Trump is sent off to bloviate around the world, while a Cheney type runs the country. That’s the Bush-era lefty fever dream made real.

I agree that it’s going to be a shit-show at the RNC. No speakers, half the crowd less than enthusiastic about the nominee, and probably no money beyond what the RNC raised before Trump. Yes, people will tune in to see just how much of a wreck this thing is, but that’s not what a nominee wants to get out of the ratings.

It looks like its going to be a procrastinator’s delight-everything will go down to the wire, the last minute-and look like it. VP, simple things like decor, speakers, hastily assembled out of whatever materials are already at hand. I wouldn’t even be surprised if speakers and events are announced the morning of the event. Meanwhile, Trump has made so many people mad for so many reasons that the protests will probably draw a larger crowd than the convention and be more organized to boot.

Hills, on the other hand has inherited the Obama masters of organization. Everything is probably already nailed down-maybe even some of the backdrops and stage equipment. While we don’t know who her VP is yet, all the speakers are getting ready for their cues. And despite the MSM talking about how she is “disliked” we Democrats like her just fine and are enthusiastic about her.

re: #106 gocart mozart

Muslim Americans need to do a better job of listening when non-Muslims talk about the sharia & jihad they face.

Probability of Sharia becoming Law of the Land in the United States = 0

Probability of being killed by Jihadis in the United States(based on the last 20 years) = 1 in 200,000,000/year

Probability of black person being killed by police = 1/125,000/year.

Probability of being struck by lightning = 1/700,000.

So, Muslim Americans need to listen to white people’s fears of a 1 in 200,000,000 chance, but white people don’t have to listen to black people about something 500 times more likely?

My kids are 5 years apart. During the Christmas holiday of their third grade year, I took that kid with me to get everyone’s Santa present. Only my middle one had trouble dealing with it.
