I’m outta here, got some studying to do. Here’s a pic of a toad I took on one of my bicycle expeditions. He was the fattest little toad I’ve ever seen.

Be good, and please don’t catch them all.

Can someone explain Pinterest to me? I go to a pinned recipe which leads me to an article that leads me back to Pinterest. No recipe anywhere.

This has happened literally every time I tried to get a recipe.

I do not get Pinterest. It’s not just not fun, it’s frustrating as hell.

So, this Pokemon Go thing is kinda going sideways in some places…

Highlighting a dark side to its popularity, the game was used by four teens in Missouri to lure nearly a dozen victims into armed robberies, police and media reports said.

Police warned players to be vigilant when using smartphones and other mobile devices to search for characters in the game.

“When you’re involved in a game and not paying attention to what’s going on around you, your situational awareness can go down,” Greensboro, North Carolina police officer Ben Wingfield told local television.

Shayla Wiggins, 19, was searching for a water-based Pokemon character near Riverton, Wyoming when she discovered a body near a bridge, where a man is thought to have drowned in shallow water, according to media reports.

“I probably would have never went down there if it weren’t for this game,” Wiggins told CNN.

So unhelpfully, the first pin that they sent was an article listing 7 pins that the article writer thought looked interesting. Which is why when you clicked on the recipe, it brought you back to Pinterest - but a separate pin. Click on THAT pin gives the link to the site with the recipe. I hate it when people do that shit. If you’re going to put together a list, just go the extra mile and include the original link. Argh.

Here’s the recipe, if you’re still interested in it.

I noticed that after I wrote the comment.

As for P-Go, I’m not playing it because I’m not interested. I’m incredibly interested in why it’s taken off so well, and how it’s been so popular across all the different groups (there are lots of people here that are playing it). I think it’s kind of neat that so many people are hooked on it. It’s not like some people’s need to own guns, for instance.

It’s born of white privilege in that Goodman knows he and people who look like him won’t be the one’s who predominately suffer under Trump. I’m also convinced that his position and the position of many Busters isn’t just about hating Hillary but is also about punishing the minority voting blocks who voted for her over Sanders.

Anglican churches and democracy mix:

Anglican Church of Canada Votes Against Same-Sex Unions

[…]

In order for the resolution to pass, it required two-thirds support from each of three orders — the lay, clergy and bishops.

The bishops voted 68.42 percent in favor of the resolution, and the lay delegates voted 72.22 percent in favor. However, the clergy voted 66.23 percent, just missing the percentage needed.

[…]

No rounding up, no uncounted-mail ballots… no hanging chads… to make up that .44% needed.

I was reading an old Rolling Stone the other day with Stevie Nicks on the cover. She’s 66 and looks maybe 40. Maybe. Springfield looks like he’s in his 30s.

Man…how to make me feel old. They’re 10 years my senior and both look fantastic. Me…not so much.

Not sure what’s worse…

Being exhausted and having to stay awake when you want to sleep.

Or

Being exhausted and not being able to fall asleep when you can.

Yesterday was the first, tonights the latter. Both suck.

Don’t know about Rick, but Stevie was about a line or two away from losing her nasal cavity. I’m so glad to see that they both survived! The Lindsay (sp?) Buckingham/Stevie Nicks version of Fleetwood Mac was a guilty pleasure of mine when I was all hardcore. Now I love them openly. Rick Springfield, too.

She soundtracked my youth (Garbage is great background for a toxic relationship with a very beautiful but damaged girl - it was so 90’s!), she played a T-1000 on television, she’s beautiful, smart, wicked chill, has an amazing voice, and is just plain fucking cool. I went to bed 20 or 30 minutes ago. Couldn’t sleep. Now I see your post and am strangely comforted. I was a teenager at the time, but Carter was the only politician who spoke the part of Christianity I believed at the time. It was surreal to see him attacked by the supposedly more Godly right. Of course, I now understand that religion was only part of the mix. And I only go to church when I visit my parents, and I am cynical. But if you want to break your cynicism, I’d wager listening to President Carter is a good way to do it. He was and is a good man.

One or the other? He’d have been able to beat the actor. Both together? The nation got fucked hard and often instead.

Had the hostage mission succeeded, I’d have probably not joined the Army. That may seem counterintuitive but I really was a peacenik in High School. I made the papers for my speeches standing on the steps of the federal courthouse and telling our congressman that he’d been lied to by the CIA. He even admitted that me and my friend were right - Reagan had lied to him a new Republican congressman. He was never a yes man after that and remains the last honorable Republican I voted for.

But instead the helicopters ate each other in the desert and I signed up as a tanker in the 1st Armored Division in Germany because I expected to die in WWIII before his re-election.

I give thanks that I was wrong the second time as well…

We’re in The Pas, Manitoba now. We arrived a few days before our train to Churchill, so we will spend extra time exploring the area.

Several people here have asked us what the hell we are doing so far north and driving to do it. I pointed out it was to get away from the crazy bastards in our country during the GOP convention.

At an Esso station here, after having gone two days without seeing any American-registered cars, we were there with two other vehicles from Nebraska. It appears all the liberals came here. /s We had a good chat; it turns out they are here to get away from the GOP convention too.

Taken about one hundred miles south of The Pas, on Manitoba Provincial Highway 10, our car pointed northbound:

More pictures, because I like taking pictures of landscape around the hotels and motels where we stay.

The first is in Bengough, a town only a couple miles from the Montana line. The town has fallen on hard times because the United States closed the border crossing. To get there now is a drive many miles out of the way from the Plentywood, Montana crossing.

We stayed the night there, and the photo is of our view out the front window.

The second is Canora (a town in north central Saskatchewan).

Canola is a popular crop in Saskatchewan, which is otherwise famous for wheat. I joked with a couple locals in Canora that the farmers were showing provincial pride (because flowering canola is of the same colours as the flag of Saskatchewan).

The economy was almost entirely out of Carter’s control. Inflation was awful, but it was pretty much uniform - prices went up, but so did wages. But one thing went up more than anything else - oil, and with it gas. And then there wasn’t enough of it. We were lining up to pay exorbitant prices.

We suddenly found ourselves at the mercy of Arabs with no way to make them relent. And then another Middle Eastern country took over our embassy and took our people hostage, and we couldn’t do anything about THAT either. Then the rescue operation failed spectacularly and embarrassingly, and we felt REALLY impotent.

And we were also, honestly, at the point where the 1970’s version of Liberalism had gotten annoying. 55 mph speed limits, slower, less powerful, uglier cars; wearing sweaters indoors.

Honestly, it’s the same kind of feeling that’s going around now. But Obama is a much better President than Carter, Hillary is a better candidate than Carter, and Trump is a far worse candidate than Reagan.

And as I recall, the GOP held a sit-in in the US House to complain about high gas prices (in other words, to promote oil companies). The Democratic response? Not so much. Annoyed, but that’s about it.

Now with the Democratic sit-in over gun violence, the GOP wants to trot Rep. John Lewis and everyone else who participated into some sort of House ethics hearing.

GOP: Oil - no issue
Dems: Right-to-life (that is, not be shot), censure.

No, the parties are not the same.

Breaking (sort of): Federal judge rules in favour of a Virginia delegate to the GOP convention that sued over Virginia’s law binding delegates to the candidate they were elected to represent.

A federal judge blocked enforcement Monday of a Virginia law binding delegates to support the primary winner at the nominating convention.

It was a victory for Carroll “Beau” Correll, a delegate to the Republican national convention who argued that the law violated his First Amendment rights to vote for his preferred candidate. Correll supported Ted Cruz in the primary, while Donald Trump received the most votes in the state.

Correll said in an interview that the Trump campaign got “morbidly humiliated” by the outcome of the case.

“They put all their chips on the table and they lost all of them — if I were them I’d go hide in a closet in Trump Tower,” he said.

More continues at:
nbcnews.com

I am glad I am out of the blast radius of the GOP convention. This just threw a real monkey wrench into Mr. Trump’s campaign (and possibly into Senator Cruz and Dr. Carson, since in theory they could pull for Mr. Trump). Moreover, numerous Trump supporters have said they will bring guns to Cleveland.

Surely nothing can go wrong with this decision.

Haha. Maybe.

Personally speaking, I’m not surprised at the ruling. China’s claims to the South China Sea were based on some pretty flimsy evidence, and its aggressive expansion into the area without first negotiating access with neighboring countries strongly suggested it was operating under a kind of Chinese “Monroe Doctrine.” That kind of expansionism doesn’t play well nowadays.

Well, as it turns out, the USA never ratified the UN law of the sea, UNCLOS, and has ignored previous rulings itself.

The United States has never ratified UNCLOS, and rejected a 1980 verdict at the International Court of Justice ordering it to pay reparations to Nicaragua for mining its harbors, he noted.

the other day I argued with someone who may no longer be with us.

he made the statement “We are sliding backwards and it’s because the economy continues to get worse as does income inequality.” the same day a very good jobs report came out

today i repeat what i said then: the economy does not continue to get worse.

Stock Market Hits Record High

Buoyed by a strong jobs report for June, the U.S. stock market reached a record high on Monday, with Dow jumping 251 points, and the the S&P 500 closing above 2,137. The previous high was set in May of 2015.

In presidential politics, the economy matters—a lot. More than it really should, given that its ups and downs are largely beyond human control. In any case, there have been concerns for over a year that the U.S. was headed for a downturn, based on (a) China’s economic upheaval, then (b) sluggish oil prices, then (c) the Brexit. Now, a recession does not appear to be imminent, and the economy looks like it will be strong for the rest of 2016. If so, that is very good news for Hillary Clinton, indeed. (Z)

the democratic party platform committee recently finished its platform draft. some of the discussions were heated, some not.

a few of the major topics:
minimum wage
equal pay, housing
clean energy jobs, research
fixing the financial system
trade (tpp)
racial justice, wealth gap, criminal justice, lgbt rights
voting rights, campaign finance
climate change and the environment
affordable education
universal health care
marijuana
and more

in their platform committee meetings, the republicans are currently arguing over:

gay rights (ssm, adoption)
“defining” marriage (again, still)
“saluting” North Carolina’s bathroom bill
abortion (again, still)

So, it seems this just happened:

If Trump loses the first ballot, the bloodletting will begin, metaphorically as well as literally. After months of being forced to kiss his ass, the GOP finding it can put somebody more to their tastes on the throne is gonna cause an immediate uproar. I predict that if he does indeed lose the first ballot, and especially if he loses the nomination, he will try to take the party to court.

I would have thought The Hill would have realized their mistake after Bernie got his ass handed to him at the polls that the whole “outside who’s gonna do awesome against the insider!” bit wasn’t a winning prediction. And that Herr Trump won not because he’s so awesome, but because the anti-Trump vote could not coalesce around a single candidate.

The same pundits who thought Romney would win because the economy would defeat Obama are now the ones who think populist fervor will propel Trump to the White House.

Were I the GOP, I’d be rather pissed that the FBI’s report came so close to the RNC. The dumpster fire that the convention is guaranteed to be will suck all the air out of the political realm for at least a week, compromising any potential gains from it. The polls will temporarily reflect voter dissatisfaction, then bounce back when they get a good look at the alternative on full display. And if there’s a floor fight, even if Trump comes out the victor, the stories of “GOP in Turmoil” will only further hurt the party.

If there’s a real floor fight - and I mean actual, physical violence - during the GOP convention, well…….the GOP’s gonna have serious problems on their hands come November. Think of the 1968 Chicago Democratic convention. The chaos from that event certainly helped Nixon.

Over at the hotel, we get the USA Today as one of the two papers we offer to guests. Top of the front page? Trump’s bark being worse than his bite, with the 4,055 lawsuits he’s had either brought against him or by him compared to the threats he’s made. Other top story? GOP trying to find its identity in the “era of Trump” and the struggle happening right before the convention.

Republican nominees going back to at least St. Ron made sure that, by the time the convention rolled around, two things had been accomplished: the party was united behind the nominee and the party was on the same page with regards to beliefs. Yet here we are, less than a week before the convention, and the party is divided into at least two camps and is trying to decide just how draconian it will be in its party platform.

Not that any of this will stop pundits from spending the time between now and Saturday telling themselves that “all is well” and expecting to tune in to Cleveland to see the GOP giving Donald a big collective bear hug.

The anti-science know-nothing do-nothing GOP is busy cobbling together their cognitive dissonant platform, and it’s an argle bargle of derp.

They declare that porn is a public health crisis, but gun violence is a 2A expression.

The GOP wants to roll back no-fault divorces, even as Trump had 3 marriages (and Trump’s considering Newt who had multiple divorces as well).

Everywhere you look, you see a platform that is deeply disturbing and anti-rational.

And Trump’s busy pulling every bigoted/racist/nativist slogan from American political history - whether it’s America First or Law and Order President.

The GOP wants people to feel they’re constantly in fear, that crime is out of control, the economy is in shambles and that all this is the result of Democrats. Reality is substantially different. Crime rates are at or near historical lows, violence against cops is likewise at all time lows (per capita and absolute terms).

Likewise, the economy is chugging along and that’s no thanks to the GOP, which has blocked major jobs bills, sought to roll back safety net programs, and there’s been some efforts to consider SNAP unconstitutional (and include that sentiment in the GOP platform, even though every dollar in SNAP actually grows economy $1.75, and is one of the most efficient programs that protects those least able to help themselves, and has economic benefits far beyond merely buying groceries).

Maybe. Ken Cuccinelli, who had supported Cruz, was pushing for as many social-cons as possible on the platform committee.

I checked my “mainstream” media sources just now after waking up expecting to see an update. Nothing on any front pages. I actually had to search for “Michigan court shooting” to find any sort of update.

And there’s nothing about “white community”.

There was a story buried on the front page of the Richmond Times-Dispatch, but I had to Google the guy’s name to find a photo since there was none in the story.

Important context out of Baton Rouge. The racism runs deep and long, and those accusing it of brutality include other law enforcement who saw first hand just how the police behaved in the wake of Hurricane Katrina:

As I stated when I believed that the FPD should be disbanded and reformed into a new professional law enforcement department, Baton Rouge needs a similar action.

There is a stunning number of police departments around the nation that behave this way, but they don’t make headlines unless or until someone is killed at the hands of cops under dubious circumstances.

On MSNBC last night, in a panel discussion connection to Nicole Wallace’s Jeb interview… they all had the vapors over the fact that at this RNC, the “will not attend” includes:

Both living Republican ex-presidents
The two most recent Republican nominees
The Republican governor of the state where the convention will be

(nobody bothered to mention that living Republican ex-Presidents didn’t attend the 2012 and 2008 conventions either; that would have mean acknowledging that the party, united though it was, was also embarrassed to claim them).

One of the things that came to mind after reading that is ‘if ‘All Live Matter’, or if ‘Black Lives Matter’ was meant to have an unspoken ‘only’ there in some way…why the hell do people have to shout it out in the first place? The whole point is that they’re saying it because they feel told they don’t matter.

Which then loops back around to the one reddit post they linked, about using a dodge to dismiss the complaint wholesale and the cycle starts anew.

So apparently during yesterday’s GOP platform discussion, they wanted to walk back the Title IX regarding campus rape:

TIME political reporter Zeke Miller was tweeting the drafting of the Republican platform, and there were a number of issues that caught my eye (and my gag reflex), but this one was a real doozy:

The Republicans have an issue with the Obama administration using Title IX, the federal law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity, to address the massive problem of sexual assault on college campuses, which disproportionately affects women and is obviously deleterious to their studies.

They’re so angry about the Obama administration trying to help female survivors of campus sexual assault that they felt obliged to debate inserting opposition into their national platform.

But I can’t find anything on what happened, what they discussed and what the resulting vote was.

Anyone?

The House GOP will not do the right thing, even if it means GOP controlled states suffer - and Zika is emblematic of the entire moral/ethical rot of the GOP. First, they tried passing a version with unrelated riders that would have cut funding to Planned Parenthood even though reproductive health/birth control is central to preventing Zika being transmitted between sexual partners and to a developing embryo/fetus.

Next, they offered up funding only by slashing Ebola research. Because you know Ebola will never come back…

Then, the GOP decided that they’d slash the President’s request in half.

Each time, the GOP reveals their complete and utter disregard for the general welfare of the people they claim to represent. They refuse to govern. They only want to dismantle government and slash its funding and the funding for the safety net, because they put tax cuts as the highest priority of everything that the GOP can possibly do. Even if it puts the nation in jeopardy for a public health crisis.

Yep. To get all acronymical about it, it’s SOP for the GOP these days. Take a specific Senate bill (no matter how important the underlying issue), amend it all to hell with various right-wing fetishes, then send it either back to the Senate for lengthy committee “consultations”, or on to the President’s desk for veto, so they can then squawk “Obama/Democrats killed this [underlying issue] bill!!”, and never mind the extraneous crap.

You would think that funding efforts to combat the spread of a potentially deadly disease might prod House Republicans to lay this shit aside for once, but apparently Party Over Country is still their unofficial motto. I hope Hillary Clinton and the Democrats make this practice a major point in their convention/campaign rhetoric: proving yet again, that nothing useful (even vital public-health measures) is ever going to be accomplished as long as today’s Republican Party has any political power.

Here are the series of photos of Ieshia Evans before and after she is arrested. I hadn’t seen these yet. Great images.

Instagram

A woman was standing calmly, her long dress the only thing moving in the breeze, as two police officers in full riot gear confronted her in the middle of a roadway to arrest her. “She had no facial expression at all. She just stood there,” said photographer Jonathan Bachman, 31, who was on assignment in the Louisiana state capital Baton Rouge to cover the Black Lives Matter protests over last week’s fatal police shooting of Alton Sterling, 37, in the city. “I knew it was a good frame and it was something that would tell a story,” Bachman said about the moment he captured the image of Ieshia Evans, a nurse from Pennsylvania, before she was arrested. A Sheriff’s Office jail log showed a 35-year-old woman with that name was booked on a charge of simple obstruction of a highway and had been released from custody. #IeshiaEvans #ReutersPhotos #BatonRouge #BlackLivesMatter

I’m a 52 year old fat white fart. Why can’t I meet someone as utterly beautiful as she is? ///////// Sigh. Yes, I know why. Please don’t rub it in. At least I had the utter joy of seeing her in the tour opening from “Bleed Like Me” in Madison. Hella concert and I’ve crushed hard ever since.

I saw this post last night, but I don’t log in through my Kindle and just lurk before bed. But I gotta share my Shirley story.

My wife and I went to see Garbage at the Kings Theater in Brooklyn last year. We had dinner in a Caribbean joint around the corner and were having a smoke before getting on the ticket line. I saw two women walking toward us, and one of them had on what was obviously a very large wig with a cowboy hat. As they walked by, I caught the glance of the woman in the wig, and she smiled at me and there was no mistaking who it was.

Shirley Manson.

I waved, she waved back and kept on down the sidewalk to the stage entrance of the theater.

Love me some Shirley Manson and Garbage.

re: #257 lawhawk

Important context out of Baton Rouge. The racism runs deep and long, and those accusing it of brutality include other law enforcement who saw first hand just how the police behaved in the wake of Hurricane Katrina:

[Embedded content]

As I stated when I believed that the FPD should be disbanded and reformed into a new professional law enforcement department, Baton Rouge needs a similar action.

There is a stunning number of police departments around the nation that behave this way, but they don’t make headlines unless or until someone is killed at the hands of cops under dubious circumstances.

I have a weekly video conference on Tuesdays. One of the participants is an Army vet who is also a deacon in Baton Rouge. This is our first meeting since all this shit went down.

He’s a nice guy, but there’s some tell-tale signs of a conservative in denial (a rather unprompted, forceful mention that he wouldn’t do anything for a Muslim org; some serious “We need to hear the whole story” when talking about Catholic child abuse).

I really try to avoid talking about controversial stuff to keep the peace, but it’s getting more tiresome by the day to keep my mouth shut (the Bernie-or-bust supporter who is an alt med proponent has been tough to deal with). If the subject of the Baton Rouge police comes up, I have a feeling the group may have an ex-member as of tonight.

Even my husband started the nonsense of “well, more white people get killed by cops each year than blacks do”. Sigh. His idiot wingnut friends and Facebook, making America stupid, one post at a time. My response was “PER CAPITA HONEY”. More white people means more white criminals, more white victims of crime, we know the drill. Second response was “SO? How about the cops not killing people unless they’re actually under threat of death themselves?”

We’ve been married almost 23 years, did he really think I’d let that shit slide? He’s also annoyed about the BLM protests in Atlanta blocking traffic. I asked him how this effected his commute. It doesn’t. He leaves at 5:30 am and heads home at 4 pm. They aren’t blocking rush hour traffic because , surprise! most of the people there are actually working people too. “But what does this accomplish, it’s so stupid!”. Um, were the Civil Rights marches of the 1960s stupid too? He got quiet, not because he agrees with me I’m sure, but to shut me up. I am over his asshole friends and their racist shit too. I’m disappointed in my husband right now, it seems like most of his friends are just wingnut assholes and he defends them.

Trump’s rigged system… where he can benefit from inheriting a fortune, avoid losing fortune to multiple bankruptcies, and run for the president on a platform of vaporware and recycled nativist/bigoted campaign slogans.

And where Trump’s signature “policy” is a tax policy that rigs the system even further with massive tax cuts for the rich, and burden shifting on to everyone else.

Talking about income inequality now. Can’t wait for the dead-enders to point out that Hillary is rich. FDR was from one of the richest families in America when he passed the New Deal

Bernie himself is top 2%; he could have paid for that jet to the Vatican himself (though it’d probably hurt a bit).

Trump’s again viewing things that didn’t happen - or conflating protests and demonstrations with actual riots.

Riots actually occurred in two cities - Ferguson and Baltimore in the wake of the murder of two black men at the hands of cops. The harsh policing by those departments was a factor in the riots occurring. They militarized and initiated actions that would lead to more violence instead of deescalating tensions.

The good news is that we are no longer
held hostage to “what secret plan does Bernie have up his sleeve.” That’s over. We’re free to charge forward with Plan B. Which for me is back to the Green Party. If you haven’t already, this might be a good day to switch. If we can get the Green Party up around 20% this time, that will be one strong message…and maybe a prelude to better things down the road. No more Dems.

That’s it, I’m done.
Bernie lied to me when he told me he was going to take his campaign to the convention.

I’m still automatically donating to his campaign through ActBlue. That ends today.

I was going to wait to mail in the papers to change my party registration from Democrat to something else. Nope, I won’t wait. That will go in the mail today.

Maybe at some point I’ll get over this and come back to fight another day, but I doubt it. Why? Because it just doesn’t mean anything anymore. I’ve been sold out so many times, I realize if I don’t expect anything, I won’t lose anything.

I’m done, I’m done, I’m done.

Shame on you, Bernie, for not keeping your word. As a matter of fact you said you wouldn’t run as an Independent or Green Party. Why didn’t you break your word here instead of now in this way and not going to the convention as a candidate?

And if we had to watch you break your word, why in the hell stand next to her.

The self-congratulatory “most progressive platform” is a farce.
And that’s basically what he’s saying has moved him toward endorsing her.

“Hillary Clinton will make an outstanding president…”

I feel like I’ve taken acid.

I gotta do something else, for the rest of the day, week. All hope now pinned on the delegates walking out of the convention? Not feeling very hopeful at this moment. Lots to re-evaluate.

The President ordered flags be lowered to half staff. That’s the nation’s highest honor to someone who has passed.

White is the basic lighting scheme for the White House.

The White House lighting was not adjusted for Prince, nor was it adjusted for the killed officers. It wasn’t changed for the deaths of individuals at the hands of police either.

You know, people maybe should have read the portent of “tired bird trapped inside stadium lands on Bernie’s podium” more cautiously.

If I recall correctly, slapdash interpretation of vague augury did for Xerxes.

And just for the sake of clarity, I’m not mocking Bernie Sanders. I might find him frustrating at times, but I respect him.

I am mocking the fuck—nay, all the fucks—out of the overly-dramatic, sentimental people who got caught up in mythologizing the dude.

Turning actual people into easily-digestable tropes that are effectively all projection, no description, doesn’t suddenly become a good thing is the conjured image is “positive” and the person re-cast is “good.” It’s setting them up for failure because they cannot be the abstractly pure eidolon in a hyle world.

So Hillary’s thinking of going all in on foreign policy for the general election. Might not be a bad idea though, as Hillary is way better on that issue than Trump. If she chooses Stavridis, her detractors on the left will likely point to it as an example of her alleged hawkishness, but c’vest la vie.

I think it’s not a bad idea honestly. Definitely unconventional but Trump’s FP is so dangerous and a big contrast between the two is not only good for the country to see but the world. The Admiral to his credit seems to have an interesting background. He seems very sympathetic to the plight of refugees given his own grandfather’s experiences.

So, the Tax Foundation did a study of the GOP proposed tax reform package:

Those are the highlights, but here’s teh bottom line. It would add $2.4 trillion in debt (over 10 year period). GOP wants everyone to use dynamic scoring, but even there, it’d add $191 billion to debt.

It’s a tax redistribution plan, and the assumptions are such that major budget cuts would be necessary to avoid the debt suggested by the plan.

It’s less batcrap insane than Trump’s tax plan. Trump’s plan would add more than $10 trillion to debt, or a couple trillion using dynamic scoring.

Daily Caller/Drudge definitely doing their best to take attention off the GOP shit show.

The headlies (yeah, that’s really what they are - started to fix the typo, and it just works) show what agenda is at work.

Democrats knew that Bernie would eventually endorse Clinton, even if it took him weeks to get to this point. GOP shitshow remains shitty, as former rivals wont appear, former presidents wont appear, and no one seems to want to be Trump’s VP, even though Trump’s policies are totally in line with GOP doctrine. It’s his style that rubs GOP insiders - that and his threadbare political operations and know-nothing approach that is breathtaking in its scope.

So who exactly was betrayed? Bernie supporters who weren’t Democrats? Because Democrats aren’t betrayed when the Democrats will line up behind the candidate.

The same isn’t being said of the GOP. The GOP convention is just days away and there’s no mistaking the stench of saltpeter and brimstone.

I am hoping this Dallas memorial service comes off without any crazy business. And I hope all people…ALL the people…act properly for just one day to honor the victims and their families. And hopefully the police also are respectful of the President, we don’t need politics at a memorial service. You can get back to that tomorrow.

I agree, and really believe it will be respectful. But I have been disappointed before.

Coverage if interested.

Teh Daily Caller: People Are Furious That Bernie Sanders Just Endorsed Hillary Clinton

People are furious that Bernie Sanders just endorsed Hillary Clinton.

Speaking to a crowd in New Hampshire Tuesday, the senator from Vermont thanked the 13 million people who voted for him during the primaries, but noted he didn’t secure enough delegates to win the nomination.

Completing this poll entitles you to Daily Caller news updates free of charge. You may opt out at anytime. You also agree to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
“It is not enough to win the nomination,” Sanders told the crowd. “Hillary Clinton goes into the convention with a lot more delegates. Secretary Clinton has won the Democratic nominating process. And I congratulate her.”
“She will be the Democratic nominee for president. I intend to do everything I can to make sure she is the next president of the United States.”

His supporters were not pleased.

LOL! This passes as actual journalism!?

I was just reminded of an incident. I think it was around 2002 (definitely after 9/11) and I was working at a store about 1/2 block away from Love Field on Mockingbird Lane. Bush was in town at a fundraising luncheon and AF2 was at Love Field. Images on my computer screen started “twitching” (the best way I can describe it), like there was some sort of static interference or something. Seconds later, there was a huge *BOOM* and what sounded like something landing on the roof of the store. All the employees ran outside to check and while we were talking with neighbors about the noise, AF2 took off within a couple minutes of the loud noise. We turned on the TV in the store and Bush was on the news, with a banner that said “Live from ________” (whatever hotel he was speaking at). We all knew it wasn’t live because we had just watched AF2 take off. There was never any news about the boom we all heard, and no news stories about the president leaving in a big hurry right after it. Maybe the two weren’t related but it sure seemed so to us at the time.

Well this has certainly changed my opinion of Bernie.
Who and what is he loyal to? Which promises are more important than others? There are things that piss me off. 1. All of the people who couldn’t afford to send him money and did anyway.
2. All of the disappointed and disillusioned young people that trusted him and saw him as a role model. 3. If the issues were important enough for him to challenge her, then they are still important enough for him to fight for them to the bitter end - especially since she stole our election, is corrupt and a liar, is absolutely not what the country needs, and everyone hates her and Trump.

I am disappointed that he quit. We needed a revolutionary. Someone who would rather die on their feet than live on their knees. Apparently he isn’t it.

Recent nominees (Romney, McCain) also won’t be there, nor will the Republican governor of the State where it’s taking place (Kasich).

Good of W to be there.

Tough thread for Obama to walk here given the blame wingnuts assign him for all cop killings but especially these ones.

From the article- someone of quoted as saying:

“The global misperception was that the demand would be endless”

It’s been less than a decade since that opinion was last proved wrong on a global scale. These investors must have the memory of a goldfish.

There was never any news about the boom we all heard, and no news stories about the president leaving in a big hurry right after it. Maybe the two weren’t related but it sure seemed so to us at the time.

I think we should set up a Fundamental Christian conversion therapy program.

Let’s see if we can turn some of the fundies’ back into human beings with actual Christian tendencies like compassion love and goodwill.

Right now the fundies are causing a lot of undue hurt on people that just want to live their lives. They are a bad example for this country and its future.

I have a friend who lives in MA who explained that the part of Mass that Stein did run for office is one of the most liberal parts of the state. That she couldn’t get elected there said a lot to me.

But we were all informed by the extreme berners a long time ago that liberals are not progressives….
