CNN’s Trump Shill Corey Lewandowski Is Still Being Paid by Donald Trump

What are these “ethics” you speak of?
Media • Views: 47,998

CNN has increasingly turned into the network that helps the Trump campaign more than any other, frequently putting Trump’s surrogates and apologist on air and letting them get away with the most outrageous lies and excuses for Trump’s behavior. Recently CNN came in for much criticism when they immediately hired Trump’s thuggish former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski (reportedly for a five-figure salary).

Now it’s coming out that Lewandowski is actually still being paid by Donald Trump, even while he takes a salary from CNN.

Former Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski is still being paid by the presumptive GOP presidential nominee’s campaign while simultaneously drawing a salary as a CNN contributor to discuss the candidate on-air, according to the network.

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo and host Don Lemon noted that Lewandowski is “still receiving severance from the Trump campaign” while introducing him in July 11 and July 12 segments.

Meanwhile, in Pakistan

Posters calling on Pakistan’s powerful army chief to impose martial law are mysteriously popping up across the country, raising eyebrows in the notoriously coup-prone and nuclear-armed nation.

“Talking about leaving is outdated, for God’s sake just come [take over] now!” declared the posters reported to be appearing in major cities including Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Quetta and Karachi.

The banners were first seen on on Monday. They feature the mustachioed face of popular Gen. Raheel Sharif, who is set to step down in November after three years as army chief.

According to the posters, the campaign is sponsored by Move On Pakistan, a political party.

Poor Log Cabin Republicans….

Date: July 12, 2016

Dear Friend,

There’s no way to sugar-coat this: I’m mad as hell — and I know you are, too.

Moments ago, the Republican Party passed the most anti-LGBT Platform in the Party’s 162-year history.

Opposition to marriage equality, nonsense about bathrooms, an endorsement of the debunked psychological practice of “pray the gay away” — it’s all in there.

This isn’t my GOP, and I know it’s not yours either. Heck, it’s not even Donald Trump’s! When given a chance to follow the lead of our presumptive presidential nominee and reach out to the LGBT community in the wake of the awful terrorist massacre in Orlando on the gay nightclub Pulse, the Platform Committee said NO.

BUT…now is not the time to sit around feeling sorry for ourselves. Log Cabin Republicans has been officially credentialed for the Republican National Convention, and when it convenes in Cleveland in a mere 6 days’ time I want to be able to take a stand, but we’re going to need your support to do it.

Cleveland is rightly making the most of their time in the spotlight, and prices for advertising in area news outlets are sky-high.

That’s why I’m writing to ask for your help.

Please give today and give generously — $500, $250, $100, or whatever you can give would go a long way to ensuring we don’t go quietly into the night.

Take back the Platform. Take back the Party. Stand up today and let the folks on the Platform Committee who paved the way to this foolishness know you’re not going down without a fight!

Trump can pay Lewandowski with the money he takes from the sued staffer , and still pocket a couple million. The man is brilliant.

Watch Lewandowski’s response to the Star of David questions and notice how much of his answer is meaningless filler about the character and family of Trump’s social media director.

Short answer? Denial. Longer answer? They’ve spent decades telling themselves that they could overlook the party’s views on their very existence because they could accept its views on fiscal policy or foreign policy. In other words, so long as the party was for tax cuts or blowing up foreigners, they were cool with the gay bashing. And really, it looks as though they’re still okay with it, as they’re not leaving the party. They really do seem to think that if they scream loud enough, they’ll get taken seriously. If it wasn’t so delusional, it might almost be commendable.

The Log Cabin Republicans are putting on grand display one of the major reasons why Democrats can regularly rip defeat from the jaws of victory. Thousands of BernieorBusters are not only prepared to leave the party, but are prepared to scare off other Bernie supporters who will vote for Hillary even though the DNC has incorporated some of their demands into the party platform.

Meanwhile, the GOP passes one of the most anti-gay platforms in over a century…and the Log Cabin Republicans will still vote for them. They’ll make a big show about “taking back the platform,” but they won’t leave the party and will still support Herr Trump in November.

Actually, believe it or not, she was one of the more moderate candidates. (Obviously that’s a bit like saying a “moderate Republican” these days…)

Also, she campaigned for Remain in the Brexit referendum, so it’s hard not to wonder if she’s appointed Boris Johnson as Foreign Secretary as punishment for him attempting to walk away from the whole Brexit mess. As Foreign Sec., he’ll have to deal with a lot of the nitty-gritty of the Brexit negotiations.

The GOP keeps trying to claim something about the whole email kerfuffle - to seek indictments of Hillary, impugn the FBI and DOJ, and claim a scandal/conspiracy all in the GOP efforts to stay relevant.

No wonder so many have tuned out the email mess, but still takeaway that Hillary is a liar.

And when the emails are released, we’ll be told that one of them is finally the “smoking gun”…before Mediamatters and others actually read them and realize that the fools have again latched on to some innocuous phrase that means absolutely nothing. I rather doubt Gowdy or Comey would have allowed themselves to look like fools if one of those emails contained something of a criminal or revealing nature that could be used to nail her to the wall.

No, that’s okay. Like I said before, it’s all relative in the current rabbit-hole of UK Westminster politics. Theresa May is the current UK version of a “moderate Republican”, so it’s still a bit touch-and-go on how she will work as PM.

Anyway, Boris Johnson as Foreign Secretary. If he’s anything like he was in this interview with Eddie Mair on the BBC, I’m not too sure how much his “Gosh!!! Cripes!!! Blimey!!!!” public schoolboy toff act can last in Brexit negotiations.

The other bit about the “deleted emails” is that making a fuss over them and suggesting criminal activity based off the act of deleting rather ignores that Powell’s entire excuse not maintaining his emails was because he expected any that mattered to be saved on State Dept servers in the receivers email box. Hence why he deleted all his emails and closed his AOL account immediately after he left office.

The past two elections, when the time came to pick an VP, the GOP’s candidate was rumored to be choosing amongst successful governors, accomplished military leaders, and prominent members of Congress.

This election, the GOP candidate is left trying to find somebody who won’t say “No.”

I-Vanka…I-Vanka…I-Vanka…I Wanta I-Vanka!

An uproar at the convention may finally finish the Log Cabin Republicans. Whatever the priority is that has bound them to their enemies, foreign policy, fiscal conservatism, etc. they can find a place in the Democratic Party so long as they are not racists. It is past time for them to leave the GOP to its fate.

Not going to happen. The Log Cabin Republicans know how bigoted the Republican party is, but they simply don’t care.

There is no possibility that they are merely in denial about what the Republican party is.

At a “lecture” for students at Otterbein University in Ohio today, Mitt Romney told students that, his friend, Jimmy John, started a business by borrowing $20,000 from his parents at a low interest rate. Romney suggested anyone in the audience could do the same:

Yes. WTF is wrong with you?

Portland colleges ban man charged with waving gun at Don’t Shoot PDX march

Michael Strickland, the man charged with waving a gun at protesters last week at a Don’t Shoot PDX march, has been banned from Portland State and Portland Community College’s campuses.

The two schools confirmed Wednesday that Strickland will not be allowed to set foot on campus if and when he is released from custody. Portland State is banning Strickland for two years. PCC’s ban is indefinite, but Strickland could appeal the decision. Both schools informed Strickland of the ban last week.

The 36-year-old is in jail and faces one count of menacing, two counts of unlawful use of a firearm and second degree disorderly conduct. Strickland, who is being held on $250,000 bail, is due in court again Monday.

You’re correct. Lois Lerner was commissioner during the period in question. Koskinen is the current IRS commissioner, but he’s the one they’re after.

All the claims of IRS lies and targeting conservative groups is pure bunk. The IG report found that the IRS needed more funding to properly address the influx of entities seeking nonprofit status. Right/left/center. All of them. So the IRS took a shortcut on entities; if there were certain terms included in the name of the entity, it was not entitled to the nonprofit status they were seeking.

That’s it. That’s the scandal. All because the way the GOP sought to investigate it looked at only right wing entities, when the IRS in their office in Cincinnati was vetting all the entities using the same kind of playbook.

Their model and motto is “Tough shit if you weren’t born well off.” I’m old enough to remember a time when Republicans actually tried to better public education. I may not have agreed with the methods but they at least wanted to improve the system.

The GOP is presently the party for those who despise the idea of democratic self-governance.

Such governance is opposed by GOPers because it has led to two results GOPers find intolerable:

1) Attempts at curbing the ability of the ultra-wealthy to simply own society in toto.

2) Attempts to reduce various forms of bigotry.

The core of the GOP coalition is the unholy alliance between those motivated by point #1 and those motivated by point #2.

Yep. Ailes is nothing but a race baiting merchant remnant of the Nixon years. I’m really hoping this lawsuit by Gretchen Carlson destroys FNC and the culture he’s created there.

Me too. I think it extremely likely that a pattern and practice of sexual harassment of women was present in Faux News. The already high chance of that being present in any concentration of privilege and power is raised to nearly 100% by the ideological slant of the Faux News organization, which does not see sexual harassment as a real issue.

I’m sure Israel will find it to be enormously helpful when US wingnuts (elected officials or candidates for high office) start proposing a final solution to the Palestinian problem.

The rise of the Trumpfuhrer has accelerated that particular expected symptom of GOP degeneration. I now think we see that this cycle or in the election of 2020.

Anyone with a shred of understanding of the Israel-Palestinian situation knows a 2- or 3- state solution is the only outcome that preserves Israel’s unique identity as a Jewish state. Demographics is a huge player in all this, and Ariel Sharon knew it when he disengaged from Gaza. He stroked out before he could implement the rest of his policies, but the ultimate goal was a 2-state solution.

The Israeli government knows the issue far more acutely than Trump ever could. Most Israelis know this too, and so do most Palestinians.

There’s only three possible futures for Israel. The first is a two-state solution that involves giving up land and accepting Palestinian state-hood, creating well-defined borders that can be easily defended. The second is that Israel absorbs the “disputed territories” and grants all living upon them Israeli citizenship, but that means the end of Israel within a generation. The third one is the second scenario without granting citizenship, keeping Palestinians as stateless people who either accept Israeli rule or leave, i.e. apartheid.

By removing the first choice, but insisting they support a Jewish state, the GOP basically has made it impossible for Israel to pursue any future but apartheid. But since the GOP supported South Africa for decades on the thin excuse that it was to stop the Soviets from seizing the country, I suppose it’s not hard to see them making the same excuse here, just subbing in “ISIS” or “Islamic terrorism” as their excuse for supporting the subjugation of the majority by the minority.

Fourth option is a riff on the first - a 3 state solution where Israel recognizes Fatah and West Bank, while Hamas and Gaza continue to rot on their own. It would be a recognition of the current situation where Hamas and Fatah each “control” contiguous territory; the only issue is dickering over the remaining terms and adjusting maps and shifting housing. Jerusalem would be a sticking point to be sure, but even that is something that could be overcome if the parties were all willing to do so.

Ayep, any multi-state solution is based almost entirely on arguing over where the lines are drawn. You’ve already acknowledged these states have a right to exist, now you’re arguing over how much land they’ll exist upon.

The other two options basically end the illusion that Israel is a democratic nation, because there’s no way to remain democratic and Jewish if you grant citizenship to all Palestinians, and any nation where the majority of the people have no say in the government is not a democratic one.

A question that is, at least in my mind, going to eventually lead to a lot of soul-searching in Israel and potentially conflict. Eventually there’s going to come a point where the government has to put some sort of stop on settlement and even begin dismantling the existing ones. When that happens, the settlers are going to balk and potentially even turn on the government.

You are as blind as the negroes who sold captives to Muslims on their caravans, and Europeans on their ships, instead of banding together to purge them from your land.

Why “Europeans” instead if Christians? Surely the vast majority of Europeans at that time were Christian, so why single out Muslims based on their religious identity? No other religion is mentioned in a negative way, though I’m sure there were slave traders from all sorts of belief systems—after all, it was a very lucrative, international trade, no? The same thing that happened to settlers in Gaza and in Sinai, some of whom had been there from 1967 onwards (until 1982/1989 in Sinai) and 2005 in Gaza.

The Israeli government will relocate those folks, building new housing for them.

The far right in Israel would put up a huge fight about losing territory in the West Bank, particularly if there’s a militarization of the West Bank, where an attack across the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv axis could split Israel in two due to the short distances involved. But it is a possibility, not without precedent in the Arab-Israeli conflict (land for peace).

I think two motives are relevant for this part of the GOP platform. 1) screwing the Palestinians, and 2) setting things up to align with the authors’ second coming fantasies.

Any explanation of GOP motives that make reference to real world cause and effect is categorically mistaken. Republicans are completely detached from reality.

It was a great, relaxing time away from the stresses of American politics; we shot fireworks, I repaired the wiring harness for Mrs. Fish’s big brown Lincoln - which was burned in the engine fire last fall - alongside my electrical engineer brother-in-law, we all went to the county fair together and watched the kids ride and ate too much junk food. My father is in great health, considering he just got released from the hospital for his heart surgery; he was getting around perfectly well, and was restraining himself from trying to do too much work. Earlier tonight, I took the previously-mentioned repaired wiring and installed it in the car; hopefully, I will have her running and on the road by the weekend. How go things among the lizardfolk tonight? What remarkable amazing things happened in my absence?

re: #268 thedopefishlives

Evening Lizardim from the hot and humid wild north country. I survived a vacation to fish country, with only a minimum of wingnut whinging from the fishfolk.

Nothing. The world is still insane.

I said it a couple weeks back but I look at what Obama has been able to accomplish despite an opposition that hates him, wishes him to fail, and thinks he doesn’t love this country and I wonder what he could if the Republican party and right wing in this country weren’t so damned hateful and insane and it just makes me sad. I blame the right for the division we face in this country. The day Obama literally took the of office, Kevin McCarthy, Eric Cantor, and Paul Ryan were meeting and trying to come up with ways that they’d derail him and then there was Mitch McConnell who said his goal was to make POTUS a one term president. But yet Obama’s “divided us” if you see the idiotic memes.

The power has been going out a lot recently. DTE says it’s “equipment failure” which for some reason only affects 6 houses on this block, houses across the street and further down the block have no power outage at all.

I wouldn’t mind at all if they said “Your power will be out from 2:00 AM - 6:00 AM while we upgrade the transformer for your block.”

That’s happened in my neighborhood. In our case, there is a fuse on one of the poles just behind my house in the alley. It serves about 8 houses on my side of the street. My neighbor to the north of me can have lights and a row of house south of him are out. It blows out sometimes in the summer with everyone running air conditioning on homes that are turn of the 20th Century. The service to the area was never designed for the loads. What I’d like to know about the ‘Pro-Israel’ platform planks is - do they propose policies which the GOP actually believes are in the longterm interest of Israel? Do they support not just its survival in the near term, but going on into the future where more Muslims are governed by Israel than Jews? Or are they really just about screwing Palestinians as hard as possible?

It’s about creating the hypothetical Greater Israel (tm) prophesied in Revelations. So no, Israel’s longterm survival is not part of the plan. Great battle on the plains of Meggido (aka armageddon), after which 144,000 of the Jews will become born-again Christians and the rest will be burned alive. Then Jesus comes back.

There’s also a red heifer in the story, tearing down the Dome of the Rock to rebuild the Temple on the site, a 7-headed dragon rising from the seas and a One-World Government led by the Secretary-General of the UN and… I’m not sure it’s in exactly that order.

Speaking of the conventions, I found these in my mother’s vast collection of miscellany. It’s a pair of complete TV Guides for central/western Carolina (Durham) in August 1956. They’re five months younger than I am and in slightly better shape; about a dozen pages of coverage for the Democratic and Republican conventions held that year.

Seems like they ought to be worth something, but where would one go to sell something like this? How would one set a price? I’ve never messed with eBay or Craigslist, any recommendations from someone who has?

So, we’ve already got the tweets saying no phones allowed in the office, it’s not the actual background of the oval office currently, why is this still a conversation?

We’re bored.

re: #349 CleverToad

Speaking of the conventions, I found these in my mother’s vast collection of miscellany. It’s a pair of complete TV Guides for central/western Carolina (Durham) in August 1956. They’re five months younger than I am and in slightly better shape; about a dozen pages of coverage for the Democratic and Republican conventions held that year.

Seems like they ought to be worth something, but where would one go to sell something like this? How would one set a price? I’ve never messed with eBay or Craigslist, any recommendations from someone who has?

We’re bored.

Don’t want to go bring the trash cans back in or wash out the cat fountain or dust the fan blades or write or cooker dinner.

Want a nap.

Hate summer.

I don’t want to do anything either, but I need to make dinner and get ready for book club at my house this evening.

Catch you all later.

3) Going for a nice walk? Not on your fucking life!

This tool doesn’t seem to realize that federal judge-ships are lifetime appointments. He’s seems so sure that he can fire SCAJ Ginsberg on his first day in office, but then again, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised because, after all, this is the dude who thinks there are 12 Articles in the constitution.

I have to unload the dishwasher and reload it and thaw out the meat for dinner because I forgot to buy some unthawed (thankfully I did have some in the freezer) and at that point I can probably deal with the cat fountain but argh. It feels like another night where I will be doing work until 10pm.

If this president kissed each of their *sses, they still wouldn’t be satisfied. I’ve always thought that there was something wrong with individuals who always have something to gripe about. If they aren’t on blood pressure meds, they probably will be one day. There’s no way one can sustain a constant level of outrage and not damage one’s body mentally and/or physically. There’s one thing I’m very happy about, though, and it’s that I don’t live in these individuals’ homes with them. For those who do, I can imagine their lives are very stressful.

Trump is still too incompetent to actually follow through and release the list of speakers, but these people apparently have said they’ll do it. He’s got some real nutcases here, naturally.

Here’s who we know will be speaking.

Rep. Paul Ryan: the House speaker has encouraged party unity despite Trump’s contentious exchanges with establishment Republicans. Ryan told Politico he would speak. He’s expected to give a 10-minute address.

House Majority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy will speak, giving an address about the House GOP’s agenda and building party unity, the Washington Post reported.

Sen. Ted Cruz announced he will speak at the convention last week. “Donald asked me to speak at the Republican convention and I told him I’d be happy to do so,” he told reporters.

Sen. Tom Cotton told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Wednesday that he will speak in Cleveland next week. “We’re waiting to nail down the final date and time, but I look forward to talking about our military and our veterans, and what we need to do to make sure that we’re serving them, so they can serve us,” he said.

Sen. Mitch McConnell said Tuesday that he will speak, but would not confirm more details.

Trump told an Ohio crowd earlier this month that Indiana’s legendary basketball coach Bobby Knight will speak at the convention.

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette said Tuesday he’d speak during the first session of the convention in the afternoon. The attorney has brought high-profile cases against same-sex marriage and federal regulations in the past, including some that reached the Supreme Court, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Evangelical pastor Mark Burns will also speak on Monday night, Politico reported. This won’t be his first time taking the stage at a Trump-headlined event. He’s a regular opener for the presumptive GOP nominee at rallies.

Former New York City Major Rudy Giuliani will also speak. The former mayor, who ran New York City during the 9/11 attacks and is extremely conservative on national security issues, has often defended Trump’s more controversial policies on homeland security.

The firebrandlunatic Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst — whose profile got a boost in 2014 with an ad about castrating pigs as a metaphor for taking on the Washington establishment — will have a prime-time speaking slot and will address the convention on national security, the Des Moines Register reported this week.

Tennessee’s Rep. Marsha Blackburn will speak as well, Politico reported.

Gov. Scott Walker told a CNN affiliate this month that he would speak at the RNC; despite criticizing Trump in the past, Walker has argued that not supporting Trump is akin to supporting Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Gov. Mike Huckabee’s spokesman told reporters the former 2016 candidate and Arkansas governor would also speak, but it was unclear when.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson will be speaking as well, a strategist said.

OT: I’m reading David Foster Wallace’s 2005 Atlantic article on John Ziegler’s move to national talk radio for the first time and this jumped out at me:

How often a particular spot can run over and over before listeners just can’t stand it anymore is something else no one will talk about, but the evidence suggests that KFI sees its audience as either very patient and tolerant or almost catatonically inattentive. Canned ads for local sponsors like Robbins Bros. Jewelers, Sit ‘n Sleep Mattress, and the Power Auto Group play every couple hours, 24/7, until one knows every hitch and nuance. National saturation campaigns for products like Cortislim vary things somewhat by using both endorsements and canned spots. Pitches for caveat emptor—type nostrums like Avacor (for hair loss), Enzyte (“For natural male enhancement!”), and Altovis (“Helps fight daily fatigue!”) often repeat once an hour through the night. As of spring ‘04, though, the most frequent and concussive ads on KFI are for mortgage and home-refi companies—Green Light Financial, HMS Capital, Home Field Financial, Benchmark Lending. Over and over. Pacific Home Financial, U.S. Mortgage Capital, Crestline Funding, Advantix Lending. Reverse mortgages, negative amortization, adjustable rates, APR, FICO … where did all these firms come from? What were these guys doing five years ago? Why is KFI’s audience seen as so especially ripe and ready for refi? betterloans.com, lendingtree.com, Union Bank of California, on and on and on.

Even if they try to use only statements that Washington actually said, you know they’re going to go to a bogus source and screw it up.

David Barton’s made-up Washington quotes of course.

“America’s Mayor”. Never liked Rudy that much. Always thought he was in love with his celebrity and less concerned with actually being mayor.

re: #84 A Mom Anon

My very favorite part was about the bikers. Being there to protect FREEDUMB against THOUSANDS OF PROFESSIONAL LEFTWING AGITATORS. Bwhahaha. Man, is that a for real job? I’d sign up for that in a minute if it paid well.

On a side note though, I know bikers (well what passes for bikers these days at least) via The Husband having a Harley and I cannot for the life of me understand why so many of them are wingnuts. Spoiled, overprivleged and able to afford a Harley I guess. I just find it weird, it’s like the opposite of all that freedom and running the roads thing. ( Anyone who would like to purchase a nice as hell 2012 Road Glide Ultra with tons of aftermarket parts and less than 10K miles on it can contact me, I have the title to it even)

Overpriced Hardley Ablesons are guns for guys who can’t buy one. I’m familiar with the Ass Jewelry phenomenon, it comes on strong here in DFW on the first 80-degree weekend when all the Big Bad Dudes take their wives/girlfriends out for the yearly ride around the block.

The BBDs who have the guts/stupidity to ride TWICE in a season (without regularly practiced skills) are often found dead in a ditch at 2:30 A.M. after they fail to negotiate gentle curves in the dark on the way back from the bar(s). If the wife/GF is lucky, she stayed home that night… I’d guess about 4-5 guys a month die that way here in North TX in April-June. More if you count the young bucks on sportbikes who self-terminate after going too fast for road conditions.

I’m a little tongue-and-cheek here, everybody should ride and ride what they like and I have nothing against riding cruisers, but there’s a small subset of any group of “riders” who have to play to an image while ignoring the hard realities of operating a motorcycle. There’s a lot of money and blood wasted out there by people who prioritize looking cool over having skills.

“Good evening ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to Cleveland, Ohio - or as we called it in my day, The Middle Of Nowhere! So, not so different from today, amirite?

“We’re here to celebrate a party that came into existence long after I was dead, primarily to fight against an institution in which I myself indulged. And when I say indulged, I mean indulged! I like my ‘brown sugar’ as much as the next man - unless the next man is Thomas Jefferson! Know what I mean? I think you do!

“And speaking of slavery, I’d like to give a shout-out to all the African Americans in the room. You’ve come a long way! Back when i was alive, you’d have been serving drinks to us! Oh, hey, I see that’s still what you’re doing! Well, at least you’re being paid, so that’s gotta count for SOMEthing, right?”

Another gem from my FB feed - from the NRA, LaPierre’s smarmy mug with the caption, “America was founded to escape the elites, but today they run the country.”

Bullshit. America was founded BY THE ELITES.

It’s taken 240 years to make it into some semblance of an equal society, and lately we’ve been going the other way, mostly because of the very people the NRA supports.

Very much so. America was founded because our elites didn’t want an overseas empire to impose taxes on them. I don’t blame them for that and it was worthwhile cause but make no mistake about it, our country was founded by elites and for the first generation or so of the new Republic, only elites (read landowning white males) could vote.

Could be more on the way. The Olympic Team might be doing something

The medal podium in Rio de Janeiro where Carmelo Anthony expects to receive his third Olympics gold medal next month might double as the stage for a coordinated act of protest about police brutality and racial tension in America.

The Knicks star certainly seems to be gearing up for some sort of political expression at the Olympics.

“For me, I do feel like this is a platform where we should - we as athletes, we as Americans - use it for something,” Anthony wrote in an essay published Wednesday in The Guardian. “Whether we make a statement out there or send a message, we can show the world that we’re united. Whatever way we want to do it, this is a chance to do something meaningful before an audience of billions.”

I’ve never been a big Melo fan since he always came off as a selfish teammate to me but much respect for this. Melo, Lebron, and all these guys know this. My brother’s best friend is African-American and he was visiting the other day (my niece is his goddaughter) and he just has had so many experiences. I’m refreshed to see that my mom can see the problems because she always points out that whenever my brother drives with me, he has no problems but when he’s with his friend, there’s always a problem for the police.

re: #343 sagehen

“They’ll rape us to death, eat our flesh, and sew our skins into their clothing. And if we’re really lucky, they’ll do it in that order.”
