I don’t get how people can sit there and say a bunch of attention seeking, tantrum throwing assholes who are flagrantly endangering the very causes they pretend to support have a important role to play in holding people accountable.

Bread DeLong believes that if by some twist of fate Trump gets elected (HA!), the GOP will invoke Article 25 Section 4.

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President. Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.

Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

He actually may be right-but it’s just temporary-sorta like holding up nominating a Supreme Court justice nomination. It isn’t an outright removal like an Impeachment/Trial would be. But looking at the Amendment, it certainly LOOKS permanent.

A judge is ordering two District of Columbia police officers to pay $539,000 for enrolling their three children in city public schools for years while living in Maryland and Virginia.

Attorney General Karl Racine announced the judgment against Lt. Alan Hill and Sgt. Candace Hill on Thursday. Officials say the couple provided a false address to enroll their children in schools near the station in Cleveland Park where they worked. Non-residents can attend city schools, but they must pay tuition.

I think any Republican with half a brain (so…maybe 1%?) knows that if Trump gets in, assuming the country survives four years, he would be the last Republican president in a good long while, maybe ever. They’d rather assume they can oppose HRC as manically as they have BHO and get rid of her after four years.

Also I don’t see how this assumption is paranoid.

The leaked docs were edited by Феликс Эдмундович, which, if you know anything about the Russian history, is sort of a stand-in for FSB (yes, Dzerzhinsky is still a symbol to them), and to some extent SVR. While it could also be someone trying to make it look like FSB/SVR, the attacks also happened, according to news reports, from the Russia-related addresses.

You know, I understand how Snowden is a criminal etc., but basically, I think he was a stupid idealist who thought he was doing good and chased himself into the trap he’s in. His subsequent behavior was dictated by external circumstances.

Assange on the other hand is a little poison dwarf on a mission against the US at any cost, with a connection to the neo-fascist Israel Shamir. He’s objectively sinister.

I agree with that nuance.

Snowden did one good and useful thing, namely exposing crimes committed against the American people. Just the manner he went about it was, well, criminal, because it exposed and compromised a lot of secrets that did not involve criminal activity.

Even leaving aside, for the moment, the issue of Donald Trump responding to nearly f*ck*ng everything with a set of cheapjack cliches on Twitter, is this

Our way of life is under threat by Radical Islam and Hillary Clinton cannot even bring herself to say the words.

even remotely true?

I mean, it’s obvious that “our” (in the sense of any particular American at any particular time) safety might be threatened by a “Radical Islamic terrorist”; rare though these sort of attacks are, but “our way of life”? SRSLY? I think that that would be way more threatened by the kind of repressive measures and police-state paranoia Trump seems to think is the “solution” to a fundamentally minor problem.

An Orlando man says he was handcuffed arrested and taken to jail after a police officer mistook Krispy Kreme doughnut glaze for crystal meth.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, 64-year-old Daniel Rushing was pulled over for failing to stop as he left a 7-Eleven parking lot and speeding.

Rushing was asked to step out of the car after the officer noticed his concealed handgun license.

At that point, the officer spotted “a rock like substance on the floor board where his feet were,” according to a police report obtained by the newspaper.

If their statistics are showing a lot of movement away from Trump by their viewers they may need to move too. It’s all about their ratings…as it always is.

Exactly, anything he says or does will be duly praised. And even if he drops trou, he will have done so in a most presidential manner.

In contrast, the expectation level for Hillary will be that she demonstrate PHD dissertation level knowledge of every single aspect of domestic and foreign policy, which she must be able to boil down to 90 second explanations comprehensible to fifth graders, while also striking the perfect balance between masculine and feminine attributes, and demonstrate impeccable but not overly sophisticated taste in dress, hair style, make-up and jewelry.

Look at how identifying as a republican is the important part. You are in the club, you are love bombed and built up. The CT belief amongst the right is similar to secret knowledge that cults provide. On!y they can see the “truth”.

She needs to go on Univision…on CBS, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, she needs to sit with the editors of the WaPo, NYT, LAT and every other goddamned outlet there is in this country. She needs to get every editor of every paper to endorse her - especially those redder then red counties in the redder than red states.

When November 9th comes, Hillary needs to get as many people voting for her as possible. If we had thinking people, she would get 76% (because there are really 25ish% of people who are GOP dead enders no matter what) but she has an opportunity to turn a lot of Republicans around.

A lot of Republicans are starting to realize that Trump winning would be the worst thing that could happen to their party. He would certainly go down in history as the WORST PRESIDENT EVER and damage the brand for generations to come.

By losing, they can withdraw behind a wall of Hillary-bashing and try to recoup and recover. They know they have to pay lip service to their chosen candidate, but at voting time, they will have long, hard think about the good of their party…

Is there such a thing as ego/arrogant blindness? I know sometimes arrogance causes people to ignore what is being said but they still know what is out there. In Trumps case it is almost like he really doesn’t see it and can’t even decide if he needs to tone down based on what he sees.

Mornin’ everyone. Well, the conventions are over and we have 100 days left before history is made.

I made one ill-thought tweet about Hillary’s tone last night and got my ass handed to me by some of you…and rightly so. She’s not supposed to be the female Obama. I shouldn’t be disappointed if she doesn’t sound like him. She can’t and she won’t, and that’s fine.

The substance of her speech was great. After a little bit of Trump tackling (which I was hoping wouldn’t happen, I feel she has enough surrogates to attack him for her AS THEY SHOULD) She acknowledged many of the issues I care about and what had me so loyal to Bernie. And then she went on to talk about what mattered to her as well and she seemed far more comfortable.

I think she’s going to be a good president. And if she is able to steer the country just a few degrees left of center, she could be a great one. I’m looking forward to voting for her in November.

I was a bad boy last night dealing with what I saw as venom in Nicole’s statements and her motivations. I’m still feeling a bit sheepish about that one. Stepping lightly…

I watched on PBS - Even their conservative commentator, David Brooks, was respectful. I briefly flipped to MSNBC to hear what the Networks wanted me to think and after about three sentences from Nicole flipped back to PBS and have vowed to go back to getting my news from All Things Considered and the News Hour. Besides, I love hearing Lakshmi Singh’s voice at the top of the hour. I always say, “Hi, Lakshmi.”

Really? Who the fuck is he, a man and I use that term loosely that has never sacrificed anything in his life to attack a father whose son died in combat. A father whose fellow adhorents of his religion constantly have their loyalty and love of country questioned. As you’ve said VB, the only thing that keeps Ben from going full on Trump is he got his poor widdle feelings hurt when they went after him for being Jewish. If they hadn’t done that, he would be still working at Breitbart and spreading Pro-Trump propaganda. I really hope his parents are proud of him because he shows time and time again that he’s a miserable little shithead. Fuck Ann Coulter too for her “sounds like Fareed Zakura” remark too, oh he has an accent, well my cousin’s mother had an accent too and he died on Iwo Jima. The men and women who have served this country throughout the years have come from all walks of life. And some of them have accents and some of them are gasp even Muslims.

She may be the 45th Doctor President, but they all have their own personalities.

Not only do I not want Clinton to be Obama, I want her to be the person who fights, occasionally gets things wrong, and builds on that to make things better (Universal healthcare leading to CHIP, for instance). I think Obama was great, but I would like to break the idea that the first ________ President has to be perfect. Let that be the sacrifice that Obama made for later presidents.

it’s a convenient plus that Obama and Clinton are both extremely capable
its what got em both elected and made them both successful presidents

while still visible by many people, and used by some, i think the stark contrast in expertise experience qualifications, presidential demeanor, etc in this election make gender somewhat less of an issue, or target than it could have been in a more “normal” head to head candidate matchup with a woman as one candidate

Respect that you came in and apologized.

For a lot of Republicans it would indeed be a nose holding event. There are thousands, if not millions, who are completely on board with Rush, Fox, etc., and those are the people we need to move to the left. They will never get to the patchouli stage, but if we move them a little…and a little more…we can have the country for not just the rest of my life but long enough to affect the children of this country, the next generation.

How it affects me, personally? I am getting older, so I would like to see SocSec maintained without having to worry about it being cut, gutted or given over to Wall Street. I’d like to see Medicare enhanced (and all Americans able to buy into it). But none of this is doable with the people we have now in congress, some of whom are true believers in what Rush, Fox, et al, have been saying for 25 plus years. There’s a difference between Mitch McConnell and Tom Cotton. Cotton is a true believer…McConnell is one for political expediency.

So if it’s nose holding, dandy. Just Do It. That’s my take.

To that I can say: it’s not a proven fact that the Russian govt was behind it, but it’s the most probable assumption so far. And Trump’s reaction to this assumption is much more precious than whether the assumption is in fact true.

Not proven, but Bruce Schneier, who is a security expert and has connections, says:

Russia was behind the hacks into the Democratic National Committee’s computer network that led to the release of thousands of internal emails just before the party’s convention began, U.S. intelligence agencies have reportedly concluded.

It did not seem to work for conservatives like Nicole Wallace at MSNBC and Mike Murphy who jumped on her speech right after it was over.

And meh Chuck Todd thought it was a meh speech, so there’s that. Click. And over at CNN, Jake Tapper, media guru, thought she missed the opportunity to delve into all the subjects that make people not trust her—yeah that would have been uplifting—to spend her time debunking right wing crap. Because they think that tone indicates gravitas and importance. But when a woman speaks, they have to defer and do demure or else not seem sincere. This is the very kind of misogynistic bs women seeking higher offices (business world or politics) have been fighting for decades.

Trump’s convention made him look normal? Normal?

Really? A blustering blithering idiot whose response to every policy challenge was “Believe me”. Or “only I can fix”. Or I can stop IS by incanting the magic words.

That’s what the takeaway from the RNC was. Not that he’s got any feelings or beliefs other than venom, anger, and hate turned up to 11ty.

People see that and recoil. They see a party in disarray and cheering for suspension of civil rights and ignoring the constitution they claim to support more than Democrats.

But they had more flags than the DNC.

Trump says he would like to ‘hit’ DNC speakers who disparaged him

Trump recalled telling a friend this week that he wanted to retaliate against the people who slammed him at the convention, mentioning current New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio by name.
“I was going to say that de Blasio is the worst mayor in the history of the city, but I didn’t say it,” Trump said to laughs. “He’s a terrible mayor. I was going to say that, but now I won’t say it.”
Trump said his friend, who he labeled a “very great governor,” urged him to stay focused on attacking Clinton, not other Democrats.
“He said, ‘Don’t hit there. Don’t hit down. You have one person to beat. It’s Hillary Rodham Clinton,’” Trump recalled, adding that he initially objected to the advice. “I said, ‘But I really want to. I don’t like what they’re saying because a lot of it is lies. Not all of it but a lot of it is.’ I said, ‘I just really … it makes me feel good.’ “

so nobody has explained to this moron that being in politics is just one giant shitstorm of relentless, biting criticism?

Well, his son wasn’t killed because he was Muslim, he was killed because he was an American servicemember but we definitely do need to point out that groups like ISIL, Al Queda, and the Taliban certainly do target other Muslims. In fact, the Taliban was targeting Muslims and a lot of people on the American right more or less shrugged their heads. It wasn’t until 9/11 that the Taliban became what it is today to most Americans.

The NYC MTA has massive problems of its own. The 70s deferred maintenance has screwed future generations out of an expanded transit system. There’s so much that they need to upgrade, update, or expand that even if they renovated 50 stations every 5 years, they’d still need more than 90 years to hit all of them. That’s simply unacceptable, and yet that’s all they can do without a major influx of funding and a change in how efficient the MTA is in capital projects.

At a minimum, capital projects like the 2A subway shouldn’t cost more than the comparable Paris or London expansion projects on a per km/mile basis. Yet, the 7 extension and 2A lines were both several times the cost, despite being no more difficult to build than the European projects.

If you can get the costs under control, that money can go so much further, and deal with the additional 2A phases, building additional capacity, and upgrading signals to run more trains per hour.

to be fair, she could have stated that she would have given each little girl her own pony and those fuckers (Wallece, et al) would have decried the dangers of introducing equine closeness to all those allergic to horses.

She specifically mentioned her willingness to work with the GOP (remember, the vast majority of her demonization is done via their proxies in the Media) and to be honest, I fully expect them to behave just as badly with her as they did with Obama.

The key, as always, is getting the Senate and House flipped. I truly believe that Trump is such a shit show as both a candidate and representative of the party that its actually doable, despite the media, despite the gerrymandering, despite the horse race.. I actually think the horse race benefits us this year, because if nothing else, people will go to the polls to repudiate Trump. I believe that the vast swaths of people that he’s offended will register and show up if for no other reason than to give him the symbolic finger that he’s earned though his deeds and words.

re: #300 No Depression

I hope we elect Clinton to two terms so we can see “No-fucks-given Hillary”. She’s in there somewhere.

That’s not going to happen. For you to get shit done you have to stay quiet for the most part. That’s what frustrated so many Dems about Obama. He was quietly working with people to get shit done (and he did get a lot of shit done) but people all wanted it NOW and they wanted him to be bombastic (which Donald picked up on…style over substance) and be that No Fucks Given Obama. Which would have accomplished absolutely nothing, ok, not nothing, but a more dug in GOP, which then would have resulted in nothing being done - at all.

Sausage making is a bitch. Bombast is completely counter productive. Bombast is Trump. Yes, it can make us feel good (see his supporters) but there is a time for bombast and early on is not that time.

So I missed the “serious analysis” of Hillary’s speech last night because my brother dropped by just as it was ending. What I’ve read this morning makes me think there is more unconscious sexism floating around out there than I thought. I realized Hillary had a tough task with the speech-she had to be vulnerable while being strong, forceful without being shouty, and stand up while sitting in a chair, or whatever, but the “meh” reaction I’m reading from a lot of pundits is very disappointing.

I recently heard someone talking about a type of sexism where people (men in particular) don’t think they’re being sexist because they are very supportive of women’s achievements in a specific, gendered sphere. Women as head of the School of Nursing is wonderful, the School of Engineering, well not so much. I wonder if there are subdivisions of that where women in the Senate are great, but as president? Well, maybe (they’re not sexist, you know!) but this woman or that woman is never quite right for the job. I guess we have a long way to go.

The Muslims Da’esh kills aren’t killed because they’re Muslim either, they’re killed because they’re the wrong kind of Muslim, meaning Shia, sufis, or anyone else who disagrees with them. Khan being in the U.S. military would’ve unquestionably put him in their enemy category (even though they couldn’t have possibly known he was Muslim).

PHILADELPHIA (CNN) — The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which is the political arm for House Democrats, confirmed Friday it had been the subject of a cyberhack, raising the possibility that alleged Russian hackers might have breached a much broader swath of Democratic records than originally thought.

The revelation comes just days after the leak of thousands of Democratic National Committee emails — US officials allege Russian hackers — prompted major turmoil within the party, causing the abrupt resignation of its chairwoman, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

A spokeswoman for the DCCC said Friday that the committee has been advised by investigators that the hack is similar to the DNC breach.

“The DCCC can confirm that we have been the target of a cybersecurity incident. Upon discovering the issue, we immediately took action and engaged with CrowdStrike, a leading forensic investigator, to assist us in addressing this incident,” Meredith Kelly, spokeswoman for the DCCC, said in a statement. “The investigation is ongoing.”

Disney has him writing another book and what little he’s seen of Thrawn in the show, he’s loving it.

Q: You’ve already seen advance footage of the Rebels TV show. What was it like
seeing Thrawn on screen for the first time?

When I visited Lucasfilm, I only saw a single cut from Episode 1, the scene of him entering the show for the first time. But even that short bit was awesome, and just a bit surrealistic. Authors don’t get to see our creations come to life very often, and it was a real treat to see a walking, talking Grand Admiral Thrawn.

On April 30, 2014, Flynn announced his retirement effective later in 2014, about a year earlier than he had been scheduled to leave his position. He has 10 million followers, but that in no way shape or form means 10 million supporters.

For instance, I follow him on Twitter. Not because I like him, but because I need to see the next insane thing he’ll say and push back against that level of insanity.

I do that with a whole bunch of right wing outlets/pundits - both to know what they’re saying, and to push back.

I’m hardly alone in that. Followers simply shouldn’t be seen as a measure of support.

I’ll go back to Howard Stern and Private Parts - where he relayed how the radio station was incredulous about his ratings, and who was listening. The people who hated what he had to say were much more engaged and listened for longer than those who liked what he had to say. That’s the same dynamic here.

I also wouldn’t put it past Trump to be buying followers.

Last week in a moment of annoyance with a resident concern troll I said that I expected the DNCon would be inspiring and motivational. Those expectations were blown into orbit with the most exquisitely produced convention I have ever watched. I cheered, I toasted, and I wept both in sorrow and in joy. Here, finally, is the Democratic party I have so yearned for these past several decades showing courage, powerful convictions and the willingness to say “Enough!” It took the leadership of a woman to do it.

Am I the only one who thinks Bill and Tim are going to have a blast together in the White House for the next eight years?

Charles Pierce on the conventions:

If the Republican convention was a stumble through a dark and terrible forest, the Democratic gathering was a star-spangled whizbang, a brass-band parade in the sunshine. Both conventions stayed true to these perceptions and, therefore, both conventions were in their own way intensely weird.

The Trump people crushed all opposition, deflating all the drama at the same time. So, when Trump gave his acceptance speech, the hall was half-full and people fled at the end as though someone had set off a cholera bomb behind the podium. Why wouldn’t they stampede? He, Trump had explained to them that the world was full of deadly menace and demonic spirit animals. I’m surprised that some of those bedeviled souls aren’t still out on Euclid Avenue, running in circles out of blind panic.

Other Wacky Shit she wants:

She wants to “restore the National Guard as the centerpiece of our defense”

Foreign Policy

Stein has argued that the United States “helped foment” a coup in Ukraine.[133] She maintains that Ukraine should be neutral and that the United States should not arm Ukraine.[133] Regarding disputes in the South China Sea, Stein has said that “it is wrongheaded for [the United States] to deal with territorial rights on the borders of China.”[133] Stein has claimed that the United States “pursued a policy of basically encircling Russia—including the threat of nukes and drones and so on.”[133] On the subject of NATO, Stein tweeted, “Who exactly is NATO fighting? …Other than enemies we invent to give the weapons industry a reason to sell more stuff.”[134]

Having initially spoken in favor of the UK leaving the European Union in her official statement on the referendum outcome,[137][138][139][140] Stein later changed her official statement (without indicating so on her website), saying “Before the Brexit vote I agreed with Jeremy Corbyn, Caroline Lucas and the UK Greens who supported staying in the EU but working to fix it.”[141]

Stein calls for pardoning Edward Snowden, and has said that she will put him on her Cabinet if elected President.

Stein wants “a moratorium on GMOs and pesticides until they are proven safe.”

He has been friendly with Russia for a while too:

In retirement, Flynn was described by the Washington Post as “not hostile to Russia,”[23] while Michael Crowley of Vox described Flynn as having “an odd affection for Russia and its authoritarian government.”[24]

After retiring from service with the U.S. government, Flynn began appearing semi-regularly as an analyst on RT, a Kremlin-aligned English-language news outlet, as an analyst.[23][24][25] In 2015, Flynn attended a gala dinner in Moscow in honor of RT, where he was seated two seats away from Russian president Vladimir Putin.[25] Before attending the event, Flynn gave a paid talk on world affairs to a group; Flynn defended the Russian payment in an interview with Michael Isikoff.[25][26] Journalist Michael Crowley of Politico reported that “At a moment of semi-hostility between the U.S. and Russia, the presence of such an important figure at Putin’s table startled” U.S. officials.[25]

I’ve been wondering how that Bernie Bean Supper and Fart-In turned out…

Unashamed flag wavers…

Whose flag? The US flag, or the flag of the confederate insurrectionists who fought to break up the Union to protect the institution of slavery. Because while the GOP claims that they flew the US flag (and more than the Democrats), the GOP supporters are busy defending their “heritage” as espoused by flying the flag of the losing insurrectionists whose heritage was slave ownership.

DC? Doesn’t Congress have some say in this? As in Congressional Republicans?

The DC METRO system is funded by MD, VA, and, DC. Congress actually has no oversight on it. And, that is the way we like it. The triumvirate that makes it up has serious funding/priority issues. Most are along the line of we have the ther priorities and we won’t increase funding. METRO has a serious safety problem, Weidefelfd seems to be the right person (so far) but he has a huge hill to climb.

This is the strategy that the GOP has been pursuing long before the Supreme Court struck down key provisions of the VRA. Now, they’re getting called out for their actions in trying to severely limit access to the polls for people who might vote them out of office.

That’s all the more reason to go after the GOP at all levels - because this is who they are. They are fundamentally tied to the bigot brigade and protecting the rights of angry white guys to be superior over everyone else.

Now WikiLeaks has lost Glenn Greenwald of all people.

Slate: Has your opinion of him or WikiLeaks’ project changed?

Glenn Greenwald: Yeah, it has, because when WikiLeaks first began—one of the things that people have forgotten—they were actually very careful in redacting. In fact, there were tons of redactions when they were releasing Pentagon documents about the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. And they even wrote a letter to the State Department before they released the cables requesting the State Department’s help in figuring out which information ought to be withheld. And I used to defend WikiLeaks all the time on the grounds that they were not indiscriminate dumpers of information; they were carefully protecting people’s reputations. And they have changed their view on that—and no longer believe, as Julian says, in redacting any information of any kind for any reason—and I definitely do not agree with that approach and think that they can be harmful to innocent people or other individuals in ways that I don’t think is acceptable.

And that is why I love her. She looked at that young lady and sensed she asked the question out of personal experience, and for just a brief second it was only her and the girl who she was speaking to. I think this, more than almost anything is what the right wing is terrified of. This is the Hillary that has been hidden behind the massive media fraud against her and Bill. They both have served their communities and country, it’s what they wanted to do since they were literally kids. I think it’s also where the right wing’s “social justice warrior” and “community organizer” insults come from, a place of fear. Because if they can get us to hate on that, then they can get us to hate each other. And it’s worked to some degree for decades. Until Trump overplayed his hand and the GOP stood by and let it get worse and worse.

I will never understand why anyone would want to purposely be hateful. In the end, no one wants that shit and it does backfire. I just wish it had happened before so much damage had been done. They could have spent all this time being heroes, and THEY CHOSE NOT TO. Conciously. From the leadership on down. I hope they can clean up their fucking mess and I hope they can find it in their hearts to do so quickly.

Over the past few days I found myself emotionally wincing a couple of times at all the praise, adulation and rah rah greatness of Hillary. I finally stopped brushing off the momentary discomfort of it and asked myself why. Was that praise undeserving? Nope. Was it appropriate for the occasion? Absolutely. Did I feel anything like that when the subject was Obama? Kerry? Bill Clinton? Nope.

So there it is. Even I have those residual feelings skulking about in there. Can’t speak for younger women - I do hope we’ve made it better for you - but I think most of us mature women do have those dark messages whispering insistantly when triggered. We’ve been so well indocrinated in a patriarchal culture that it has seeped into every psychological crack. Thanks to Hillary for helping flush that system out a bit more.

He’s doing great. So proud of him. Hillary’s made a nice point about him twice in her speeches. We in Virginia have promoted him time after time again. I’m a little disappointed to lose him in the Senate but excited to gain him as VP because he really is an awesome guy with a lot of heart who really walks the walk.

yeah, it only took a damned century from sufferage to finally having a woman running for President. I am so happy I can’t help but doing a little Hillary Happy Dance while grinning ear to ear. Fuck the haters. They’ve had their turn. Help or STFU and sit down.

I have been thinking about the older generations of women in my family ever since Hillary clinched last month. This is such an awesome moment. I just wish my Nana were here to see it. Lifelong Democrat and I remember in the 90’s, she got a Christmas card from the Clintons, I don’t know if it was personally signed or not BUT she always proud of it. She was proud to have supported FDR throughout.

He’s filming an episode where part of the plot concerns the backlog of rape kits held in evidence rooms. I’m really looking forward to what all these great people are going to do after leaving office and taking a well earned vacation.

Okay, Charles…I decided to celebrate my new lower mortgage with a subscription to LGF - just hit the paypal link…but I made one small error. I forgot to log in to LGF BEFORE donating…So we’ll see if it gets picked up.

Let me know if you need me to email you my paypal info or if you got it figured out already.

Cheers.

Thank you very much! Your ad-free access should be all set up. If you aren’t logged in when you subscribe, the processing script searches our DB for a match to the email address on your PayPal account as well. So even if you aren’t logged in your subscription will still be set up as long as the email on your PayPal account is the same as the one on your LGF account.

We’re seeing a party that has remembered that we are the party that has fun (we did push for the repeal of prohibition after all) and we’re the party that kicks ass.

I am taking November 8th off and driving to my aunts grave straight from the election booth. My parents and I used to argue with her constantly. She was a died-in-the-wool liberal and huge fan of Bill and Hillary Clinton. She passed away before my come to jesus moment. I’ll be putting my “I voted” sticker right on her gravestone. #imwithher #fuckcancer

I just don’t get these people eager for a third party. Let’s make the Democratic one the best it can be. I don’t give a shit about the Green Party becoming bigger. They’ve never spoken for me and they certainly don’t when their nominee dismisses vaccines and nativism.

For YouTube videos, there are share options, including twitter, at the video’s YouTube page.

re: #488 allegro

I’m in my mid-fifties, so I don’t think you’re a whole lot older than me, but I get what you’re saying. I was in 2nd grade when we first landed on the moon and I was born just late enough that, when I got old enough for it to matter, things like space travel and “women’s lib” weren’t a big thing to me.

If soaring rhetoric in a speech was the most important qualification in a presidential candidate, then today we would all be practicing saying “Good morning President Rev. Barber”.

(I am still in awe over his speech last night, can you tell?)

Heh, yeah I noticed last night that he even had some atheists yelling, “Hallelujah!!”

re: #445 MsJ

I saw a video last night on twitter where a fishing boat had caught a smallish hammerhead shark. It was on the line and a tiger shark came in and attacked (and attacked and attacked) and killed it…all capturered on video. It made me sick. Had that hammerhead not had a hook in its mouth and a line towing it to these fucking trophy fishermen, it might have had a chance at escape. As it was, they fed the tiger shark all the while marveling at the spectacle.

Fucking humans. Sometimes we are a terrible thing.

I always try to envision what this planet would be like if there were no humans on it.

Being from Ohio and knowing all the state pretty well, I can well image over two-thirds of this state being trees from creek to creeks and rivers to Lake Erie. Then the western side of the state probably a little less tree covered but beautiful grasslands.

And that is just Ohio. Probably pretty much the same for every state east of the Mississippi.

And then I also think it probably was that way with the Native North American peoples too.

And then came the Europeans…with their religions and progress.

Just saw this comment and thank you for it. It goes a bit to what I was trying to get at last night when Nicole Wallace on MSNBC jumped right in on the criticism of Hillary’s speech.

I didn’t mention it last night, but as soon as Nicole unloaded and Rachel was a bit stumped by Nicole’s reaction, Bryan Williams asked Steve Schmidt if he agreed with Nicole (both former GOP campaign strategists). He didn’t hesitate. He immediately said no. Heh.

NOW you’ve done it—that brought tears to my eyes. If my mother hadn’t wanted her ashes scattered, I would love to do the same. (Maybe I’ll watch a Gloria Steinem speech in her honor—Gloria spoke at my mother’s college graduation . My mother went to college when she was 51)
