Donald Trump: “I Have One of the Great Temperaments of All Time!”

Politics • Views: 43,779

It’s totally beyond parody at this point.

Speaking to Colorado’s KRDO NewsChannel 13 today, Donald Trump boasted that he has “one of the great temperaments of all time!”

“And I’m also the humblest human being ever to walk the face of the earth!” he didn’t add.

Very early OT, but I want this to be seen since we do have a fair number of Lizards all across the globe.

Consider it, if you can. Gus is a little boy with terminal cancer.

From the last thread:

huffingtonpost.com

Trump on the arts:

It doesn’t seem like Trump has thought quite as much about this topic.

“I punched my music teacher because I didn’t think he knew anything about music and I almost got expelled,” he ― or more likely his ghostwriter ― wrote in the 1987 book, The Art of the Deal.

While it’s not entirely clear if that story is true, Trump voluntarily included the detail in his book. He later told a biographer why this all might still be significant.

“When I look at myself in the first grade and I look at myself now, I’m basically the same,” said Trump, in the book, Never Enough: Donald Trump and the Pursuit of Success. “The temperament is not that different.”

We have a very groovy new feature tonight, suggested by MsJ.

When you see an image posted in comments or articles now, if you hover your mouse over it, a little twitter button will appear in the upper right corner of the image. Click it and you can directly tweet any image from LGF.

If it’s a Trump bumper sticker image the text is automatically filled in with a link to the Bumpersticker Generator page. Otherwise you can add any text you like to the tweet.

Here’s an image as an example.

And for those who think Jill Stein is the 3d party alternative you’re looking for, she’s just as batcrap insane as Trump.

She’s a danger to public health. For all of her so called medical knowledge, she’s an anti-vaxxer and supporter of crank treatments like homeopath and other junk science.

That’s gotten notice of other doctors:

Yes, when Trump becomes our president in January, it will be a disaster. There is no way I would ever vote for a guy with the temperament of a rabid weasel, the maturity of a drunken kindergartner and the depth of a California reservoir. If we’re lucky, he’ll get himself impeached during the transition.

But I don’t care how much Hillary Clinton spends on attack ads revealing the full awful truth about Donald Trump. As long as she is talking, nobody is going to hear a word over all the laughter.

This is the 4th circuit appeals court decision in the NC voting rights case.

The NC law really was egregious. The state legislature actually did some work for this. They got information on voting methods as used by blacks and whites, and systematically eliminated or made more difficult voting methods that were preferentially used by blacks.

Republicans really are the scum of the earth. The only time they actually do any work is when they screw people over.

She reminds me very, very strongly of my mom in some very important ways. Children being important. Taking them seriously. Willing to fight for what’s right. Knowing that she has to do 20x better because she’s in what’s seen as a man’s job and yet willing to shoulder those burdens so that it will be easier for the ones who come after her. Always ready to teach and encourage.

Richmond County reaction mixed on voter ID ruling

[…]

However, [Richmond County election] board Chairman A.B. Brown said, “It’s a sad day.”

“The elected representatives of the state of North Carolina passed that law,” he said. “We now have judicial tyranny, where these liberal activist judges make the laws of our land, not our elected representatives.”

Brown went on to complain that these are the same judges who kicked Christianity out of the public schools, while allowing the teaching of humanism and evolution, not creationism.

“We are one humanist activist justice away from being completely controlled by humanist justices on the Supreme Court level,” he continued. “The Constitution will no longer have any meaning, whatsoever.”

[…]

Are we shocked to find that this chairman of the local election board, who strongly favored the NC voting restriction law, is a creationist?

Are we?

She reminds me very, very strongly of my mom in some very important ways. Children being important. Taking them seriously. Willing to fight for what’s right. Knowing that she has to do 20x better because she’s in what’s seen as a man’s job and yet willing to shoulder those burdens so that it will be easier for the ones who come after her. Always ready to teach and encourage.

I still have lots of feelings that aren’t being put into words easily but there’s that set, at least. It’s a start.

I know just what you mean.

Weather is actually pretty decent here tonight (after an afternoon soaking) but there is just no way I could deal with it my present condition. I took a short trip over last weekend for a family visit and I am having a VERY hard time bouncing back. This is making me worried about my ability to travel to Europe in September, but I have 7+ weeks to marshal my strength.

The other day I posted about a couple of buffalo-meat-buying women being beaten (and then jailed as if they were the criminals)…

Now comes this:

Police: Lower-Caste Indian Couple Killed Over Meager Debt

Police arrested a shopkeeper for axing to death a couple from a lower caste for not promptly paying a meager debt of 15 rupees (22 cents) for groceries, an official said Friday.

District Magistrate Pramod Chandra Gupta said the upper caste shopkeeper killed the couple in a rage Thursday, severing both their heads, when they asked for more time to pay for the groceries they bought from his shop in Mainpuri, a town in Uttar Pradesh state.

[…] The shopkeeper is from the Brahmin caste. Formal charges in the killings would be filed after the police investigation is completed.

[…]

Attacks against Muslims and Dalits have risen since Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu-nationalist party came to power two years ago.

[…]

Here’s another example where strong religio-nationalistic politics works its way out not just at the top but at the bottom of society, too.

There are parallels to the Drumpfskindepoche.

Easily my favorite active band I have not yet been able to see. Since I moved to Chicagoland, having them play Lollapalooza has been a recurring nightmare. Even in good health, that is a serious pain in the ass in my book (at least it is like 20 degrees cooler than this time last week). Now that I am not well, there was never even a thought of trying to go out there.

Oh well, seems like this is a slow rollout of promoting the fine new album this year…hopefully next year I will have a chance see them someplace where I can reserve a seat.

In the Trump wonderland, it makes perfect sense. People have been concerned about Trump getting these briefings, so Trump has to claim Hillary has the same issue here.

Trump as POTUS would be so easy to manipulate that Putin could have Trump fighting both sides of a war between US states with a few dozen tweets.

Two-thirds in Republic ‘would vote for united Ireland’

Pollster Red C said its latest national survey - weeks after the Brexit result - shows a sharp rise in support for reunification since a similar opinion poll six years ago.

Asked how they would vote if a referendum was held tomorrow, 65% of the sample electorate said they would vote in favour of a united Ireland.

Some 30% said they would vote against it, while 5% said they were undecided.

The findings show an 8% jump in support for a united Ireland since Red C posed the same question in a poll carried out for the Sunday Times in 2010.

[…]

I’d love to see someone ask Drumpfskind if he supports a united Ireland, if only to see how he reacts to such a question.

He’s pretty famous for the modest 12 meter statue of himself which rotated to always face the sun. en.wikipedia.org

There are many other ripe nuggets of batshit insanity, such as this advice on dentistry

Culture war is a much abused term. Perhaps beyond all utility. But then some more accurate phrase ought to be coined. It is a cultural struggle(?), in some ways white vs others, old vs young, angry vs well, at least not so angry.

Some may want to write that off as trite. Usually maybe so, not this year, not this election. We know what this is at least in part. It’s backlash against change on many levels. Economy, politics, demographics and climate. They are scared and seek to scare us into indulging their narrow vision.

Drumpfskind mentioned that the person with whom he spoke about his RNC entrance was Vince McMahon (who Drumpfskind claims liked his entrance.)

There’s a lot of similarities between a Drumpfkind rally and a WWE (or rock concert) performance.

These type of group meetings (and all politicians use them) serve to make a group-effect happen, where people stop thinking individually and react emotionally, but not as an individual but as a group.

This is standard fare and people/leaders/politicians have done this since forever.

So Drumpfskind knows he can say sort of anything, and because he knows how to manipulate the reactions of crowds, get his crowds to cheer idiocy.

So Drumpfskind knows he can say sort of anything, and because he knows how to manipulate the reactions of crowds, get his crowds to cheer idiocy.

Adolph Hitler was a master of this art.

I don’t know how big Drumpfskind’s fascist horde may be. If he can be elected at all, he’ll need the traditional Republicans who always pull the lever for (R) regardless of candidate.

So not all Drumpfskind voters will be part of the horde.

This I suspect is why Clinton picked Kaine. The latter is there to pick-off some middle-of-the-road Republicans in states like VA and OH, who don’t want to be part of the horde.

re: #224 FormerDirtDart

This came up when those revelations came out about the STAR tax relief - that he was seriously gaming the tax system to effectively pay no taxes. Since NYS personal income tax starts with federal tax amounts, that he repeatedly tried to claim STAR shows his income isn’t consistent with being a billionaire.

Much more likely is that he’s got so many shell companies and close corporations that he’s got them stacked up and so highly leveraged that it’s a house of cards that would come crashing down. They might put on appearances of being billionaires, but they are cash poor - with most of the wealth tied up in real estate. That’s why all those licensing deals are important since that’s what probably pays the bills.

The current STAR requirements is $500,000 annual income or less (there’s special rules if seeking the senior STAR).

This is all part of the reason that Trump’s never going to release the returns. The scrutiny would destroy his entire enterprise.

I’m remembering the French when attacked by the Germans in 1940.

Most of their communications was by motorcycle courier. A few orders never reached their recipients because the riders were in a traffic accident.

Meantime the Germans had a radio net down to company level and every individual tank.

So the French were often literally days behind the Germans in intelligence and command decisions. It’s why the Germans did in six weeks what they couldn’t do in four years in the Great War.

Brilliant idea, you clamorous yam. An idea that failed to work 75 years ago isn’t likely to work now.

PZ has a great takedown today of Ray Comfort’s latest epic “refuting” atheism with one “scientific question” by stumping random passers-by—spoiler: It’s Paley’s Watchmaker argument with DNA as the watch.

This feat of illogic is so old and routine that it was shot down long ago by Percy Shelley, in A Refutation of Deism.

Design must be proved before a designer can be inferred. The matter in controversy is the existence of design in the Universe, and it is not permitted to assume the contested premises and thence infer the matter in dispute. Insidiously to employ the words contrivance, design, and adaptation before these circumstances are made apparent in the Universe, thence justly inferring a contriver, is a popular sophism against which it behoves us to be watchful.

He wrote that in 18-freakin’-14. That’s how old and dead this “scientific” question is, and how long ago it was shot down by a poet.

Let’s see if we can get Jill Stein’s opinion.

Totally off-topic out of the blue question, but when you file your tax returns in the US (by Apr 15), do you get some notification back it was accepted, and when does it arrive?
Here in Sweden, you have to file by early May, and the notifications arrive June or August depending on if you do your taxes manually or electronically.

Mr. C. usually does our taxes, so I haven’t done more than run my eyes over forms and sign them for a few years. We also try really hard not to overpay, so we don’t usually get a refund. It used to be easier because you only had to pay 80% of what you owe quarterly, now it’s 90%.

You’re talking about people who are mad at Bradley Cooper for having different beliefs than a person he played in a movie.

What you really need to do, for maximum security, is to shave the courier’s head, write the message on it, wait for the hair to grow back, then send him off. Herodotus showed us the way.

Yes.

She is such a better person than people say she is. I feel bad for not liking her in the past and I was a liberal at that. This is a genuinely good person who will be a great president.

Here’s the de-skunking recipe you need for any-sized dog:

Combine 1/2 quart hydrogen peroxide, 1/8 cup of baking soda, and 1 teaspoon liquid dishwashing soap in an open container.
Draw a tepid bath and put your dog in it.
Apply the solution liberally throughout your dog’s coat and suds him up well (to the skin).

Do a nose test and spot treat as needed. He’s used it a lot on his Goldens and sez it works real well.

Well, anyways, I was hearing a Drumpfista bitching about Hillary not having released her ‘15 returns, then it occured to me, “has her tax return been accepted yet?”, i.e. is it for all intents and purposes official, and is that the reason the ‘15 returns haven’t been disclosed yet?

I don’t know how things work in the higher income levels, certainly not at the degree of complexity the Clintons would have. Down here in the middle class, I’ve never received a formal acknowledgement of my tax paperwork from the IRS, only the refund check when one is due. These days I file electronically, so it’s just a matter of waiting till the refund shows up as an auto deposit in my account; or until the check I’ve written to the Feds or the State is cashed, for the years where I had to pay them.

We can be fair to the person and the politician that was Hillary Clinton in 2008. She ran a cynical, introspective, depressing campaign that did not reflect where America was in the 2000s, never mind in the 2010s.

But she learned from that! And she adopted better policies! And apparently it’s novel for a politician to learn from experience, but probably only when they’re a woman.

I got shaken when he asked Trump if he had ever been to Arlington. I’ve been there a few times. It’s never not a profoundly moving experience. As I said, my cousin and Captain Khan, both men born far from this country’s borders in death share a final resting spot there. There’s something beautiful about that. A country where two people who came from two totally different places like that could come here and serve their adoptive country honorably and far more honorably than many native born Americans.

That’s true. She still had done many of those things though pre-2008. She really did have crappy advisers. She seemed to almost admit what I’ve felt, she was better served losing to Obama in 2008 than beating him, the two have learned so much from each other and I think it’s going to be a fascinating relationship that historians will study after we’re all gone.

Seriously, though… there’s nothing more empowering than hearing American English expressed powerfully through a thick accent.

I’m not kidding. I think that’s the question that divides us now. A black kid talking in my lingo about how he’s going to take over everything? That’s not threatening America, to me. That is America to me.

I kind of envy my grandparents for having immigrant parents in that way. They got to hear those accents every day. You’re right. Something awfully empowering about American English through an accent. I haven’t forgotten where my family started and you know what, that’s exactly why I have so much love and admiration for people like this. They really are the best of America.

trump said something else infantile. but nobody cares. trump said something else ignorant. but it wont affect his polls. trump made another offensive, destructive, criminal, immoral remark. but his followers dont care and he’ll suffer no consequences

Megan McArdle thinks Trump’s making common cause with Putin might be different:

The possibility that Russia has been trying to influence this election has already been raised by reporters and Democrats. […]This argument, however, is the sort that generally stays mostly within the wonk community. It’s a complicated “follow the money” story. Those always sound great in movies, but most readers (voters) are not going to sit still through your 15,000-word tour of banking statements and legal filings.

Trump’s pronouncement today, on the other hand, was the sort of gaffe that every voter can understand — and resent. It’s the sort of statement that seems precision-calibrated to alienate exactly the nationalists whose votes he’s seeking.

Ratfucking/concern-trolling/actual politically savvy analysis aside, I am glad I am not an advisor.

Were I a member of Hillary Clinton’s staff, I would run “HAVE YOU EVEN READ THE UNITED-D STATES CONSITUTION//I WOULD GLADLY LEND YOU MY COPY”, unedited, until the cows come home.

If that message doesn’t win, this country is fundamentally unworthy and it deserves to lose.

(I’m glad Clinton has better advisors than me, and I never, ever want to see how the sausage gets made.)

Only a lawyer/judge would use the word “inapt” without anticipating some giggling in the courtroom.
