Did Donald Trump Disclose Classified Information Today in Florida?

“I’ll never forget the scene this morning”
Politics • Views: 48,775

In Donald Trump’s speech today in Daytona Beach, Florida, he told a strange convoluted story about seeing a video “this morning,” showing Iranian officials unloading cash from an airplane — a video I’ve never seen or previously heard about.

Now people are starting to ask whether Trump actually disclosed classified information from an intelligence briefing — just to make some political points at a campaign rally. Would you be surprised if he had?

The money was part of a payment, announced earlier this year, from the U.S. to Iran to settle a decades-old dispute over an incomplete weapons sale.

“I’ll never forget the scene this morning,” Trump told the crowd in Daytona Beach, Florida, of what he said he had watched. “Iran ― I don’t think you’ve heard this anywhere but here ― Iran provided all of that footage, the tape, of taking that money off that airplane.

“Over there, where that plane landed, top secret, they don’t have a lot of paparazzi, you know,” Trump said. “The paparazzi doesn’t do so well over there.” But “they have a perfect tape, obviously done by a government camera, and the tape is of the people taking the money off the plane. It’s a military tape. It’s a tape that was a perfect angle, nice and steady.”

No publicly available video matches what Trump described. This raises the possibility that Trump was either fabricating the contents of a non-existent video, or he was disclosing information to which he has newly been granted access.

By the way, this so-called “secret $400 million payment” to Iran that the entire right wing universe is freaking out about today? It was actually openly announced by the White House in January of this year.

Repost from below… last comment

OT But damn… just got back from taking my little girl to see Brasil women’s team beat China 3-0 in their opening match of the Olympics at the Olympic stadium.

Being in the middle of 30000 Brazilian soccer fans is unreal. At one point everyone was slapping their seats. Almost subsonic rumble like an Earthquake. Powerful stuff, but totally non-threatening, just joy at the game.

Not a fan but I am going to get tickets to see the men’s team

Much needed brain bleach from the last week.

I’ll go with “blowing classified information” for $200.

What an idiot. Both sides of something like this are going to have video records of the transaction, since it’s not exactly like the US and Iran are going to trust each other with hundreds of millions of dollars in cash. So there’s really nothing to this story, other than Trump’s big mouth.

I’m leaning toward him lying. His story just too conveniently ties into the “secret announcement” of the Iranians receiving their money.

At this point, either a voter will see Drumpfskind as someone for whom they will not vote, or they actually like what he is saying.

I believe there are very few neutral voters out there now.

I have no idea what Drumpfskind will have to do to turn away now his supporters or the animatronic Republicans who pull the (R) lever regardless of the candidate.

Uniforms - Make America Great Again hats, bumper stickers, other paraphernalia
Hate Chants - Lock Her Up, ‘Hate Will Win’ (which is literally the scariest video I have seen in years)
Violence - Assaults on protestors

Just because the details are slightly different from 80 years ago doesn’t mean that it isn’t already functionally the same. I don’t think it’s hyperbole at all any more.

True, but the Germans have always been an organised people. Naturally, they would do Fascism in a very German way.

For a while I’ve preferred the term “fascistic”.

It is important to embrace that “history does not repeat.”

What Drumpfskind represents, and encourages, is a 21st century of a fascistic worldview.

His movement is sort of a cross between Brazil and Italy, if we are to draw parallels to the pre-WWII world.

I don’t know. If pretty young female athletes start dropping dead of fulminating water-borne illnesses with spectacularly gory symptoms, that would likely take the spotlight away from Trump.

I agree that normal Olympics cannot compete with the Trump Campaign Traveling Shit Show and Dumpster Fire.

He did a movie where he played an aging bigot in an LA neighborhood with gangs & shit…they never fully redeemed him, but he did manage to show a little kindness to a Southeast Asian family (Vietnamese in the movie I think)…but it was a stretch for him you could tell. Acting is one thing, but the eyes don’t lie. His disdain was palpable through the end.

Gran Torino. The movie was set in Highland Park MI, which is in Detroit, which was kind of weird because there is no significant Hmong community in Detroit. Good movie though.

Korean. Told you the meaning of “zipperheads” if you paid attention. I think Clint had more than acting show in that movie. Gran Torino.

Gran Torino is a 2008 American drama film directed and produced by Clint Eastwood, who also starred in the film. The film co-stars Christopher Carley, Bee Vang and Ahney Her. This was Eastwood’s first starring role since 2004’s Million Dollar Baby. The film features a large Hmong American cast, as well as one of Eastwood’s younger sons, Scott. Eastwood’s oldest son, Kyle, provided the score. Gran Torino opened via a limited theatrical release in North America on December 12, 2008, and later to a worldwide release on January 9, 2009.[4] Set in Detroit, Michigan, it is the first mainstream American film to feature Hmong Americans. Many Lao Hmong war refugees resettled in the U.S. following the communist takeover of Laos in 1975.[5]

The story follows Walt Kowalski, a recently widowed Korean War veteran alienated from his family and angry at the world. Walt’s young neighbor, Thao Vang Lor, is pressured by his cousin into stealing Walt’s prized 1972 Ford Gran Torino for his initiation into a gang. Walt thwarts the theft with his M1 Garand rifle and subsequently develops a relationship with the boy and his family.

Really, I do think that Clint’s been losing his marbles for real over the past few years; it’s the only way that I can really explain it.

If he’s a Trump supporter and can brush off Trump’s mania with “get over it” then I have to say “ok, here’s a guy whose entire career is built on gun porn. Fuck him.”

From his wiki:

In retirement, Flynn was described by the Washington Post as “not hostile to Russia,”[23] while Michael Crowley of Vox described Flynn as having “an odd affection for Russia and its authoritarian government.”[24]

After retiring from service with the U.S. government, Flynn began appearing semi-regularly as an analyst on RT, a Kremlin-aligned English-language news outlet.[23][24][25] In 2015, Flynn attended a gala dinner in Moscow in honor of RT, where he was seated two seats away from Russian president Vladimir Putin.[25] Before attending the event, Flynn gave a paid talk on world affairs to a group; Flynn defended the Russian payment in an interview with Michael Isikoff.[25][26] Journalist Michael Crowley of Politico reported that “At a moment of semi-hostility between the U.S. and Russia, the presence of such an important figure at Putin’s table startled” U.S. officials.[25]

Miscellaneous Secondhand Observations from today’s Clinton Rally:
— One lone BernieBuster with his mouth taped over, carrying a flag. No hat. Standing in an asphalt parking lot on a day where the air temp is 97 degrees.
— Five Trump supporters trying to occupy the end of a crosswalk, trying to chant and getting drowned out by the five hundred or so people crossing the street and chanting ‘Hil-lar-y.’ Also too dumb to wear hats.
— The (alleged) cheesesteak place down the street had been pretty much taken over by the Hillary supporters all day, according to the sweet young Hispanic ladies running the place. They were quite amused by it, and made a lot of money.
— Everyone was keeping an eye on their fellow ralliers to make sure that no one got heat stroke.
— The folks in the second overflow room were high-fiving and thanking the police officers after the rally. People were parked up to 3/4 of a mile away. Crowd estimate 5000+
— Yes, Hillary & Hick did come to the overflow rooms to talk to people, and take pictures with her. Lots of moms and little girls, lots of babies, lots of little old ladies in their 70’s and 80’s. Gents in pink t-shirts that said ‘Madam President. Get used to it” At least one wiener dog sitting at the table next to hubby, with a cute little six-year-old girl who was busy taking pictures.
— Lots of people laughing and talking to each other, taking pictures of each other, loaning their signs to someone else for a shot. Very warm crowd, hubby says, and not from the outside temperature. Comparing notes on what they did on the last campaign.
— People in the crowd were speculating that we might not see Hillary herself back this election cycle, drat it — surrogates, maybe, and I’d love to see Tim Kaine. But Colorado is pretty solid blue in the cities now.
— No tickets needed. You filled out a card with your email and your address and pledged to do some volunteering for the campaign. That was your ticket.
— Hubby says he could tell it was driving the Secret Service a little nuts trying to deal with the crowd as the main speakers moved from room to room. “You can leave now… No, you can’t leave now, she’s coming here… Okay, you have five minutes to leave but if you do, you can’t come back in…” If she does come back — bigger venues. Definitely.

All in all, a good time had. Completely different than the Trump rallies. Still sorry I missed it, but toujours gai archy. (And no, she didn’t mention the caregivers issue, but it’s on the website. I’m still happy someone’s thinking about it.)
