Go ahead, call me a sap. But this song from Sara Bareilles’ excellent work on the Waitress musical is really moving. If you listen to it in the right frame of mind, it just might bring a tear to your jaded eye.

The whole album is terrific, by the way, and I highly recommend it.

Sara Bareilles sings “She Used to Be Mine” from WAITRESS the new musical based on the film by Adrienne Shelly which premiered at the A.R.T. at Harvard University on August 2, 2015 and closed September 27, 2015.

Book by Jessie Nelson
Music and Lyrics by Sara Bareilles
Based upon the motion picture written by Adrienne Shelly
Choreographed by Chase Brock
Directed by Diane Paulus

The A.R.T. cast included Jessie Mueller as Jenna, Drew Gehling as Dr. Pomatter, and Joe Tippett as Earl.
