Secret Service official confirms to @CNN that agency has spoken to Trump campaign regarding 2nd Amendment comments

He is making their job a lot more difficult and dangerous than it already is. They cannot let him get off without a serious talking to.

This also shoots holes in the “slanted, oversensitive media twisting his meaning” excuse. If the SS is taking you aside over an utterance, it is a sign that you have seriously overstepped a Red Line

I’ll bet in the next few days Trump will not only double down on his “2nd amendment” comment, he’ll make the threat even more explicit.

I would like to see his Secret Service detail threaten to leave him up there to defend himself with his own 2nd Amendment solutions…although there is no way that could turn out well

I liked the idea someone here had yesterday - have one of their guys rush the podium in street clothes and his detail just be a tad bit slow at ‘catching’ him, just to shake him up some.

But that would be wrong.

So, what happened at the Trump dog & moron show today? I’m not seeing any inflammatory quotes or threats on the opposition.

Maybe the Secret Service was able to reach him for a minute.

Can he be arrested by the Secret Service? I mean, lets say you or I made repeated threats or calls for violence and they talked to us and told us to knock it off. And then we didn’t, what happens next? Because this is not the first time he’s called for violence and I doubt it’s the first time he’s been told to take it down a peg or six. Is there any precident for this nonsense?

Kirk’s a weasel.

I wouldn’t call him a weasel, in that I want to believe actual weasels would research their write-in candidates much more carefully; i.e., taking 9 seconds to Google “Colin Powell Iran nuke deal support”.

There will be a violent revolt of some kind. It is coming together.
The conspiracist right has been tuning up for it for decades. Many of their favorite conspiracy claims, from gun seizure to secret tunnels, have been circulating since the 70s. Remember, for example, that Tim McVeigh’s primary motive 22 years ago was the NRA conspiracy theory of imminent seizure.
Now is their chance, with their ideas permeating suburban and rural America, racial and religious bigotry solidly mainstreamed, an aggrieved candidate who will endorse their lawlessness, and an opposing candidate who has been the number one target of their hate for 25 years.
Formal militias with their toy soldier uniforms and pretend command structure will not be a factor, though some members may act on their own or in concert with other organized insurrectionists. These people will no more act on their threats than fantasy football fans would take the field against the NFL.
Any organized violence from the right will hinge on two factors: “Sovereign sheriff” nutcakes who go over the edge and try to suppress opponents locally, and the loose but very real and pervasive network of fundamentalist gun churches.
A bigger factor will be lone wolf operatives who respond spontaneously to hysterical incitement from the right wing media. These will be only a minute percentage of the armed RWNJs out there but, in a group of millions, it could still amount to a frighteningly large number in absolute terms.

Weasel in the sense that he wants to do everything to distance himself from Trump wihout actually doing it.

I think Trump is doing a splendid job. The more he opens his sociopathic mouth and spews his vomit the more he exposes the depravity of the GOP and the more disgust he generates among those who haven’t been paying attention. Almost daily now I’m speaking with people who have always voted GOP - I think most like D_F, cuz daddy votes that way and by god daddy is always right, or will beat the crap out of them or something - who are now in crises of political faith. They can’t ignore the stench and they are backing away. Sure, some of them will still vote and they will still vote GOP but major, irreversible damage is being done and I find that to be a quite delightful turn. About damn time.

So who printed up and passed out all those signs? The Trump campaign? The backers of this rally? And why Abingdon, VA? Are there coal mines there?
Did the “Virginia Coal and Energy Alliance” PAY Ferrethead to show up? This rally, unlike some, has the odor of commercialization all over it: but then, it IS Donald Trump…

again, it totally sinks his “bigoted media misinterpreting my intentions” spin. these guys mean business, and they are sending a clear message that he is making their already demanding job more difficult and dangerous, which is basically what he would wind up doing to nearly everyone who does a difficult government job…

There will be a violent revolt of some kind. It is coming together.

all we need is a sizable man made/natural disaster that warrants calling out troops to restore order and services, and these goons will declare it a government takeover and come out in force
