That flag is a totally a statement of heritage and not a reference to a political system that embraced and supported the spread of slavery into the US territories.

Hilariously, Newt Gingirch, who thinks that he’s a historian, attempted to analogize between Trump and Harry Truman.

These two couldn’t be further apart, whether in temparament, experience, or understanding of world events.

Trump has limited experience doing anything other than real estate, which he inherited from his dad.

Truman was in the military, was a legislator, and then US Senator before being named FDR’s VP and then ultimately became one of the most consequential presidents in US history.

Trump would like to roll back civil rights and voting rights.
Truman desegregated the military.

Yeah, they’re totally alike.

The responses to Newt on Twitter are predictably hilarious.

While we are on the subject, one of my peeves with the yokel population is their habit of referring to Mexico as “Old Mexico.” One time one of them even asked me if I meant “new or old?” when I mentioned Mexico. I am tired of telling them, look, folks, there is no such place as “Old” Mexico, there is “Mexico” and “New Mexico.” That’s it. Some day we might name a Mars colony “Brand New Mexico,” but there will still be no “Old” Mexico.

- has been accused of doing favors in return for foundation donations, no proof, no trial
- gets very large speaking fees to chat with greedy rich people
- is boring and detail oriented, and has frequently been prosecuted for politicking while female

donald:
- over four thousand lawsuits by businesses he stiffed after they did work for him
- under indictment for deceptive business practices re sleazy fake university scam
- boasts about how much money he walked away with after helping to ruin hundreds of businesses and the economy of atlantic city by mismanaging several casinos into bankruptcy
- after growing up rich and going to the best schools doesn’t know his ass from a hole in the ground and is too pathologically insecure to admit it

Manchester, NH — Today a group of climate activists confronted Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-New Hampshire), who is up for re-election in November, at the Corporate 5K Road Race in Manchester about her support for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. The group joined Ayotte wearing masks of Trump’s face.

“Kelly Ayotte can’t run from her Trump problem, and she can’t have it both ways,” said Becky Wasserman, New Hampshire Statewide Organizer for 350 Action. “By supporting Trump, she’s supporting racism, climate denial, and violence. Voters need to reject Trump and reject Ayotte.”

I once heard the story that a person called to order tickets to the L.A. Olympics. When he told the salesperson over the telephone his address in New Mexico, she said, “Sir, you have to buy tickets through your country’s olympic committee.” He said “No, I’m from NEW Mexico!” She said, “New Mexico, Old Mexico, you still have to call your country’s olympic committee!”

An incomplete things you can learn on Facebook:

1) Hillary is an accomplished killer, with a huge body count that no one can match;
2) She’s above the law, but only if the GOP get control of government will she be held to account;
3) Trump never lies. In fact, he’s infalliable;
4) Trump’s business experience is so amazing, that he’s made billions on a couple million dollars;
5) The bankruptcies are only a few out of hundreds of lines of business that Trump engaged in; and
6) The media smears of Trump are incessant and nonstop lies - even when they’re quoting him verbatim.

It wasn’t all bad. My dad and I eventually got to where we could calmly discuss things. I debunked his claim that crime is up and gave him a primer on the difference between U3 and U6 unemployment after he tried to tell me that the economy is horrible, though I did concede that there are structural issues about the economy that concern me.

Of course, everything the Republicans want to do would only make these structural issues worse. The ultra-wealthy do not need further help from government in taking all rewards from increased productivity for themselves.

I know exactly how you feel dealing with these individuals. I taught geography in high school for over 20 years, and it irks me to no end to encounter so many Americans who are ignorant about simple things related to geography. I recall that when birtherism got started, many on the Right didn’t seem to know that at the time that this president was born, Hawaii was already our 50th state. I also recall an incident in which someone called the IRS and during the course of a conversation revealed he didn’t know that New Mexico and Mexico were two different places. I’m also appalled that millions of Americans don’t seem to know that someone born in Puerto Rico is a U.S. citizen at birth. I’m ashamed and embarrassed knowing that it is often those who scream about American Exceptionalism the most that are geographically-challenged. Trump talks about Crimea and Ukraine, but I seriously doubt he could locate these nations on any world/regional map.

Hillary’s speeches are shorter than Trump’s because she doesn’t ramble and repeat herself over and over.

“Dude, hedge fund donations just shows that the market will like Hillary more than your sad ass.”

He thinks they should love him and throw their dollars at him because he’s the business guy! Never mind that they’ve watched him operate and know that he really doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing.

But the two programs Trump cited — “Trump Kids” and “Trumpeteers” — are programs catering to patrons of Trump’s hotels and golf club. They are not for Trump’s employees, according to staff at Trump’s hotels and clubs across the country.

“Trump Kids” is described on the Trump Hotel Collection website as “a special travel program designed to help make your next family vacation a big hit.” Its offerings include “kid-friendly amenities like kiddie cocktails, coloring books and no-tear bath amenities.”

“The Trumpeteer Program” is described on the website of Trump National Golf Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, as “a program created specifically for our youngest members, ages three to twelve, which offers daily and evening child care, monthly newsletters and weekly events!”

When asked about on-site child care, employees at Trump’s hotels and clubs across the country expressed confusion and explained the two programs are for guests and members only.

I’m beginning to think he might actually be on amphetamines.

If The Donald is on speed or blow, at his age, it kind of makes me wonder if his ticker’s gonna carry him on to Election Day.
