Clinton Will Target Trump’s Embrace of the Racist ‘Alt-Right’ in Thursday Speech

And Trump will rage
Politics • Views: 47,894

This is exactly how Hillary Clinton should be attacking Donald Trump — by pointing out the extremists he’s in bed with: Clinton to target Trump’s ‘alt-right’ embrace in Thursday speech.

Campaigning in Reno, Nevada, on Thursday, Hillary Clinton will address Donald Trump’s recent campaign hires and what her campaign termed in an announcement as “his advisors’ embrace of the disturbing ‘alt-right’ political philosophy.”

“This ‘alt-right’ brand is embracing extremism and presenting a divisive and dystopian view of America which should concern all Americans, regardless of party,” the campaign said in a statement. “In her remarks, Clinton will contrast Donald Trump’s divisive views and dangerous temperament with her vision of an America that is stronger together and where everyone has a role to play in the future.”

On the same theme, the Democratic Party has released an advertisement that uses actual headlines from Breitbart “News” to perfectly illustrate what sort of person is now in charge of the Trump campaign.

Looking forward to media being forced to address this important issue. It’s terrifying that a Presidential Candidate is so tightly linked to White Supremacists. Good on Secretary Clinton for calling out Trump for this.

Really though, it’s great to see that not only is the Clinton campaign aware of Breitbart but want to get the message across about how nasty these people are. I’m thinking that seeing the headlines that have been on that shithole will scare most sensible Americans away from Trump including even some conservatives. The first one said it at all. It is Breitbart with their racism, homophobia, and sexism that are out of touch with the average American.

And now the thought of “weasel pits” has me remembering way back, when my dad plowed up a part of our field and hit an underground hornets’ nest. Thankfully he didn’t get stung, but it left the area rather, erm, “disturbed”. So what did he do? After sunset, as the temperature dropped, he headed back out into the field with a can of gasoline and the propane torch. No more hornets.

I recently read Code Talker by Joseph Bruchac. It’s a novel but Bruchac relied heavily on many in person interviews with code talkers to tell their story. At the end of the book, he noted that many code talkers were denied GI benefits like housing because they were not allowed to build any houses on the reservations.

They managed to get a bunch of black people to sit behind Trump in Austin.

41
Anymouse  Aug 23, 2016 • 4:58:38pm

They also threw down a gauntlet:

Basically that says, “Hi, I’m Hulk Hogan’s lawyer. I just bought the First Amendment on behalf of my client and here’s the disclaimer that it’s not legally binding in any way, shape or form.”

One by one the stories dropped. Everyone gave into the fear. Retractions and apologies went up all over the place even though, as the disclaimer states, they’re nothing but blowhards looking to use fear and intimidation to bully a story out of existence.

OK, Mr. Hogan’s fancy lawyer. The story is down. We removed it. We don’t wish to be dragged through the mud by a narcissist who buys his way out of everything or his poor little trophy wife whose feelz is all hurt. But there will be no apology. There will be no monetary compensation and there will certainly be no being afraid. You see, Mr. Big Bad, We did nothing wrong. As a public figure, Melania Trump is subject to extreme scrutiny. Under libel law, we’re allowed to report on public controversy and report the allegations of others. We’re the free press. Somebody accused Melania Trump of being a hooker. She’s going to have to live with that.

This one you seem to have won, but you are hereby on notice: threatening letters and Nazi intimidation tactics won’t work again. As a matter of fact, considering I just said that somebody accused Melania Trump of being a hooker, they didn’t work this time, did they? In your “put the fancy leather boot to the neck” world of practicing law, that in and of itself constitutes some kind of wrongdoing. Let me ask you this, Chuck: Of the dozens of blogs and news outlets that reported on the Hulk Hogan story, how many did you successfully sue?

The answer is none, because most were intimidated.

Yeah, she was SAG president back in the mid-oughts.

The health problems she’s having now started about 3-4 years ago (she was injured in a fall during her run on Dancing with the Stars in 2012 and a fucking balcony fell on her and damned near killed her shortly after that) and is apparently being aggravated enough during her campaign earlier this year that her doctors told her she needed to quit the race, hence the current issue with the execrable MI GOP.

re: #54 HappyWarrior

Going to Detroit with Carson at this point will do no good for Trump’s chances of getting blacks to vote for him in large numbers because the damage has already been done by the many, many inaccurate comments Trump has made. Every time Trump opens his mouth and disparages us with his comments based on stereotypes, it is another nail in the coffin of getting many of us to vote for him. You don’t, metaphorically speaking, deliberately shoot us in the head and then tell us you didn’t mean to do it. Words matter, and so do actions. If either Trump or Carson thinks we’ve forgotten his housing discrimination against POC, his comment that he doesn’t want “us” handling his money in his businesses, the way he pre-judged the Central Park Five and called for their deaths, and/or his birtherism, they need to think again. Trump and his campaign staff seem to conveniently forget that POC have a long history of dealing with adversaries like them whom we know are the ones who really want to use us in spite of their claims about Democrats.

I’ve gotten a few letters that ended with that phrase myself. Not one ever resulted in a real lawsuit being filed. But Melania Trump has a lot of money to throw away.

The problem for this lawyer is that unlike the Gawker situation, the sites who reported on this were very clearly not even close to committing libel. And any lawyer who tries to sue in this situation would be risking very serious sanctions at the very least, and also risking an anti-SLAPP countersuit, depending on the state where the suit was filed.

I think it’s very unlikely that any lawsuits are actually going to come out of these threats. It’s an attempt at intimidation, nothing more, and nobody should give in to it.

But people will, because this asshole will point to the crucified form of Gawker and say “If I could them down, I can bring you down.”

Yeah, he’s not REALLY pushing for AA votes. He’s pushing for white voters who want to vote for white nationalism without voting knowing it.

Classy.

My guess is that they are afraid that anyone the Democratic Party puts up might be more of a challenge than Ms. Gilbert.

Trump’s need to win is pathological. There is simply no way for any Republican to appeal to enough of the black vote in a presidential general election to make a difference. This pattern is set in stone by now, and would apply full force to any generic Republican. Trump as the nominee just makes it worse.

Another liberal blogger gets a takedown or lawsuit notice from Mr. Trump. The lawyer appears according to them to be the same that Peter Theil used to take down Gawker.

They went in for the snarky reply just as Liberal America did.

Wonkette did wonk about both of them.

Exactly, and a Republican pollster even admits this in this WaPo article: washingtonpost.com

“After 15 months of denigrating every nonwhite minority in sight, it’s hard to believe that he can actually do significantly better among nonwhites,” Republican pollster Whit Ayres said. “But he may be able to soften his image a bit with some Republican and maybe a few independent whites who have been put off by his harshness thus far.”

Ayep. This move isn’t “I wanna bring minorities into the fold” as it is “I want whites to feel as though voting me doesn’t make them a racist.” We’re to forget all the shit he’s been slinging since last year and just embrace this “new” Trump, who is so totally not a racist.

re: #95 Charles Johnson

So Trump is trying to appeal to the “Good Americans” in the Republican party.

Here’s a moment of clarity from Driftglass:

Because the problem is not Trump. The problem is that one of our two major political parties — representing around 40 percent of the voting public — is so irredeemably fucked-in-the-head that it nominated Donald Trump, will vote in its millions for Donald Trump and, if Donald Trump is elected, would stand by him if he promised mass crucifixions along his inauguration parade route and a nuclear first strike on Mecca in the spring.

The problem not that biased, Both Siderist reporting on this story is swamping everything else. The problem is that the state of the Fox News Republican Party itself is a planet-wide, First Order Disaster and our broken, biased media is doing everything in its considerable power to avoid speaking this terrifying truth out loud.

Audiomachine and similar groups (Sub Pub, Two Steps From Hell) have vocalizing on their tracks but is this actual people singing (like Carmina Burana) or is it a digital approximation of vocals? I ask because none of these vocals seem to have any actual lyrics but it is a distinct style.
