White Supremacist Who Coined Term “Alt-Right” Demands Apology From Hillary Clinton

Poor little racist’s feelings are hurt
WTF • Views: 61,118

Notorious white supremacist Richard Spencer coined the term “alternative right” (now shortened to “alt-right” because alternative is a pretty large word for white supremacists to remember) in 2010; we wrote about it at the time.

Spencer is upset because Hillary Clinton correctly labeled him as a vile racist in her speech yesterday, and now he’s demanding that she apologize to “European Americans.” (This link goes to an archive of the page, so you don’t have to visit his creepy racist website.)

We can only hope he’s holding his breath waiting for that.

Hillary and her allies in “conservative” media will stop at nothing to portray peaceful European-American advocacy as a dark specter haunting America. In reality, she and her allies, especially so-called “conservatives,” are only giving comfort to the most radical and violent elements in our society.

We disavow any attempts by Clinton or any of her surrogates on the left, right, or center to tag the National Policy Institute or the work we do as violent extremism. We call on her and her allies to issue an apology to European-Americans everywhere and confront her own troubling links to extremism and the civil unrest she has stoked for months.

Love the switch: “She accused us of violent extremism.” She just accused you of being racist.

As for European-American, I’d tell you to go back there if you love it so much, but they wouldn’t have you.

I love the juxtaposition of these two threads: Trump Denies Existence of “Alt-right”; White Supremacist who coined term “alt-right” demands apology from Hillary Clinton!

I clicked earlier on SMOTI’s twitter and saw a link to a video of HRC’s speech yesterday with all kinds of “she’s paranoid” comments written over the video. I didn’t confirm, but I have no doubt that the comments underneath the youtube video pretty much represented everything HRC said.

Yes, projection, but to some extent you can’t blame Trump because bad people support him. If a mass murderer publicly supports Candidate A, that doesn’t mean Candidate A supports mass murder.
Yes, it is problematic that Trump’s positions appeal to these folks, but if we want to point out Trump’s failings, it needs to be that he retweets racists and misogynists and chose Bannon for his campaign manager.

Dinesh D’Souza was pounding that line too. Claimed the renouncing wasn’t honest/truthful/sincere, and then claimed it was actually current (Byrd died in 2010).

Meanwhile, Trump’s busy tweeting out white supremacists all throughout his campaign - including whitegenocidetm, and that’s somehow not indicative of his true intentions.

D’Souza dissembled on that too - claiming no one reads the names or backgrounds of the people they tweet. That right there explains how/why he was arrested and ultimately entered a plea deal over a felony campaign finance charge (guilty on one count). Reading comprehension simply isn’t his thing.

It’s not just the supporters flocking to Trump of course, but Trump goes out of his way to surround himself with the bigot brigade - whether it’s Bannon, or actively seeking out white supremacists to tweet on twitter.

You have to go out of your way to find those folks - especially when they’ve got so few followers, so that means you’ve got to go digging to find them. And if this wasn’t on purpose, then Trump would delete the tweets. He doesn’t.

Trump doesn’t just retweet in the common way (using the retweet button). He quote tweets by actually copying the text into his own tweets.

That’s a whole lot more effort than just hitting a button. It takes time and effort. You get to read the name whitegenocidetm multiple times that way. He doesn’t think that important.

While that’s logical in formal terms, it fails in political terms because Candidate A always has the option of renouncing the mass murderer and repudiating his support. Trump has never even hinted at renouncing David Duke or the alt-right racists.

I haven’t seen people say that, not here or the other blogs I read. What I have seen is people saying Trump is bad because of the people he’s surrounded himself with, which is a totally legitimate criticism.

Edit: Now yes, he’s attracting KKK members and white supremacists, but this is a result of his actions and speech, not a cause. The cause is Trump, the effect is attracting white supremacists.

But, it leaves the opening for “But Trump has said he’s not a racist! He wants to help minorities.” I just think the “who supports him” argument is weaker, when we can point out his retweeting of racists and hiring Bannon.

I have seen the KKK argument elsewhere-in fact I just responded to it.

I agree with pretty much everything being said here-just saying that one can get drawn into the weeds pretty fast with the supporters argument rather than the Trump’s own choices argument.

That’s a drop in the bucket. And the NEC needs the Gateway Plan to get approved and construction underway. The stations don’t add capacity, but new Hudson River tunnels, new Portal Bridge, new Baltimore tunnel and replacement bridges in CT do (and improve reliability). Same with upgraded power systems and signals - that limit both train speed and number of trains in a given segment.

Addendum:
That video actually shows the Portal Bridge still working in their panorama shot of the NYC skyline. That’s not a good sign to say the least since that’s one of the failure points on the NEC and it regularly costs commuters dearly when it malfunctions.

If Hillary wins the popular vote, that will be the sixth time in seven elections that the Democratic nominee for President has won the popular vote, something which hasn’t happened since 1820. Now if only Democrats would show up to vote in the midterms, we would really have something going.

Here’s an entry for the “Wingnuts that didn’t bark” files. As far as I can tell, the merry band of RWNJs over at RedState has had absolutely nothing to say about Clinton’s speech tying Trump to the alt-Right (i.e., Klukkers rebranded).

Given RedState’s track record of commenting negatively on every single thing Clinton has said or done to the maximum extent possible, this has to be construed as complete agreement with Clinton’s speech. This is especially true in view of the neverTrump sentiment prevailing there.

It’s adorable how these RWNJs simply can’t bring themselves to agree with Hillary Clinton, even when she speaks what they regard as truth.

I do post on a couple political threads in otherwise non-political groups and I assume I am speaking to the Great Middle, not those who are dyed in the wool conservatives and Trump supporters. My intent is to woo the undecideds and less engaged and to make them step back and think about it. I’ve had decent results (as far as I can tell) by sticking to the most basic facts about what the candidates themselves have said and done, and leaving their supporters and whatnot out of it.

Different tactics may work better for other groups, and as always, YMMV.

Joe Biden is happy right now…please, don’t rain on his train.

I understand wanting to avoid unjustified guilt by association criticism. Guilt by association can be wrongly used. But it’s not always a fallacy to draw inferences about a politician like Donald Trump based on who supports him. There’s a reason white supremacists and racists are drawn to his campaign; it’s because he is deliberately courting them, in many ways.

Clinton wasn’t attacking Jones for his use of free speech. She was identifying him as someone who specifically engages in conspiracy theories that Trump has latched on to and is spreading throughout his supporters/fan base.

Hannity is excusing Jones’ behavior and fact-free nonsense.

Speaking of standing next to people, there was apparently a young man with some sort of disability (possibly on the spectrum?) standing behind Trump at a rally a couple days ago. Freepers were having a discussion of whether or not this was appropriate. Because he was evidently doing something slightly distracting, the majority came down on the ‘he shouldn’t be there’ side. It was interesting to watch the discussion change from ‘someone like that shouldn’t be there,’ to ‘someone like that shouldn’t be there because he might be uncomfortable and it’s for his own good’ as a few people posted that he shouldn’t be hidden away because of a disability.
Now I didn’t see the footage myself, but I thought it was an interesting study in rationalization.

The UPI/CVOTER tracking poll has Trump gaining. It has no margin of error because it’s an online poll where participants self select. She’s also dropped in the Ipsos poll about 4 points in the last few days. State polls aren’t reflecting these national poll changes though so the 538 movement hasn’t been as dramatic as it otherwise might be, also there are other polls showing Clinton as strong as ever, PRRI, Quinnipiac, and oddly enough Rasmussen. I wouldn’t be worried, she’s going to hollow Trump out at the debates and turn his empty husk into one of her horcruxes.

I think that the important point to make (and I think Pres. Clinton 45 will) is that it is the Republican House that will be the problem. I’m guessing that Speaker Ryan ( assuming he won’t be dumped in the 115th) will find himself seriously jammed up - with a probably greatly-reduced majority, a solid and disciplined Democratic oppo, and a probably even nuttier “Freedom Caucus”. Getting nothing done while wasting time and money on grandstanding “investigations” may look good for the right-wing base, but sooner or later it’s going to backfire on them. And yeah, unlike her predecessor, I don’t think Madame President is going to take office with any illusions about “working” with the GOP…

Bannon, his ex-wife Diane Clohesy and the Trump campaign have not disputed that Bannon did not live in the Miami houses with Clohesy when given eight separate opportunities to do so before and after publication.

Badolato states on his website that he is an “entrepreneur, senior level executive, venture capitalist and seed stage investor” and claims to have founded companies that reached a total of $26bn in market capitalization. According to federal court records, he has filed for bankruptcy four times since 2008.

He is also an “editorial journalist and blog contributor” at Breitbart News and formerly worked as an associate producer on some of Bannon’s films such as The Undefeated, a documentary about the 2008 Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

National polls have been tightening, but state polls have not. She’s still way ahead, but not by as much. A couple polls have shown more significant tightening - notably Florida and Iowa, IIRC. Nothing to be concerned about yet.

But if that candidate says things like, “I’m not in favor of mass murder, but many people say it can really solve some problems,” it becomes very relevant that mass murderers are flocking to support that candidate.

This. When the entire alt right flocks to his side…you know they like what they hear.

No coincidence that chick with the “88” tattoos was working a Trump phone bank during the primaries.

Perhaps Donald Trump Jr. thinks that he was water boarded at a frat since he believes this behavior is so prevalent across American frats. (Maybe they just really did not like him so they held him down and threw water at him.)

Perhaps he needs a real session with some professionals so he can assure his dad that water boarding is actually a big deal. Just a little research before he spouts such stupid BS…

Just to clarify, I am not advocating rounding him up and subjecting himself to water boarding. I just think that he should be pressured to volunteer for an educational experience.

But frankly, however unpleasant the “educational” water boarding sessions are for people who go through them in their training, at least the subjects understand that it is voluntary and that the people water boarding them are trying hard not to let them die. A powerless prisoner has no such peace of mind when undergoing enhanced interrogation in captivity.

He can’t help himself.

Too many people do not get Hillary is talking about more than base racism/bigotry.

She is cautioning Trump will govern and create legislation that is based on his view point and how his hate for certain people will color how he acts as president.

If you don’t think building a goddamned wall to wall off the southern border of the US isn’t a political problem on an international scale you’re a dumbass.

If you don’t think spending the money to build a wall could be better spent on some roads or bridges and how that effects government funds for American infrastructure you’re a dumbass.

If having a justice department that is 100% for allowing tough policing and possibly building a huge domestic problem with groups of American people and looking at major civil unrest isn’t a policy problem you’re a dumbass.

If you don’t think a president that wants to change libel suits against the press and actually hates the press and would try to control it…look at the constitution dumbass.

If you don’t think playing at being a tough guy that is going to shut China, Japan, South Korea and other world trade tactics down by huge tariffs and protectionism and it isn’t going to hurt both world relations and the world economy…let alone domestic…you’re a dumbass.

If you don’t think extreme…no extreme extreme tests for immigration isn’t real bad policy on both a world and domestic viewpoint of the US and you strut around playing with guys like Putin and that isn’t bad foreign relations you’re a dumbass.

So, no…going away from pointing out Trump’s view of whole groups of people is no problem and Hillary should just not engage in mud wrestling as it just looks bad and Bernie would never have stooped this low…well…fill in the blank, you’re a ___________.

Sorry for going OT, but I wanted to thank all of the many folks who wished me well after my interview for the job at the library on Monday.

Unfortunately, I found out today I didn’t get the position. That’s fine; it’s hardly the only job I lost out on. I am having a bit of trouble with something though and I really can’t tell if it’s just me being overly-sensitive or not.

What’s hilarious to me is these people think they’re purebloods somehow. I guarantee pretty much every one of them if they really look back at the family tree would find someone who is NOT WHITE as they define it.

My mother’s family is German, Dad is Irish. Texas German settlers 5 generations back. Proud of their heritage.

One of the grizzled old WWII veterans decided to trace our ancestry diligently and methodically through Europe. Took us back to the 17th century. Was very cool.

I was there when he stood up at a family reunion of over 300 of us and informed us that one of our ancestors was a Russian Jew…that’s where our family name comes from, it’s an Americanization. And there’s an American Indian or two that married into the family when we first immigrated. And oh, by the way, being from Alsace, we’re really more French than German. Whoopsie. Have some strudel.

When he sat down there was absolute silence in the room. It was glorious.

These people are not what they think they are.

Maybe not. If they’re as smart as stray dogs, at some point they’ll realize that shit isn’t working.

But why wouldn’t it “work”? A large percentage of GOP Representatives are confirmed wingnuts from “safe” seats, where the only punishment for doing nothing in Congress/wasting time posturing or witchhunting is a primary challenge from some nutbar even further to their right. Who might have a better-than even chance of winning, anyway: especially in those districts where Democrats are typically cast as the Party Of Satan, and chances of electing “moderates” (of any Party) are slim-to-none.

I agree that it will be interesting to see what happens. IMO the out that Clinton gave to Republicans in the speech was just the suggestion that they should reject Trump.

That’s a very low bar (a prerequisite for being civilized, basically), and didn’t seem to me to have larger implications for POTUS Clinton vs. a Republican House.

They’re going to have to adapt to surviving with an even more liberal Supreme Court for another generation. That’s going to take a lot of the fun out of screwing with the VRA, immigration, and gerrymandering. In my dreams, Texas soon flips and DC gets a senator and reps.

“…Sater was convicted for stabbing a man in a bar fight in the early ’90s, and pleaded guilty to racketeering in 1998 for his role in a mob-orchestrated stock fraud, according to The Washington Post. His racketeering sentence was reduced for cooperating with American intelligence officials on undisclosed matters related to national security.

Around 1999, Sater joined Bayrock, a real estate firm that had offices in Trump Tower and pursued business ventures with Trump. Bayrock is now being rocked by allegations made in a lawsuit brought by a former executive of unexplained cash infusions from Russia and Kazakhstan and receiving financing from a firm used by Russians “in favor with” Putin. Around 2010, Sater went to work for Trump directly, carrying a Trump Organization business card that described him as a “senior advisor to Donald Trump.”

We have no idea who my grandma’s maternal grandfather was. No father listed on my great grandmother’s baptism record and she’s listed as illegitimate. It’s one of those mysteries that I know I’m never going to solve. My grandma says her mother was told growing up that her father died when she was young and she naturally believed the story. Very sad in any case.

Yes, rejecting Trump is definitely a prerequisite for being civilized.

I think this is key, that his appeal has been racist and bigoted and he associates with racists and bigots, and his schtick mostly appeals to racists and bigots, and that racists and bigots are coming out of the woodwork to support him, so if you’re not a racist or a bigot, you need to decide whether you’re cool with that.

Grossmont school-board candidate claims misrepresentation

[…]

On August 23, candidate Kevin Conover, who teaches Bible studies and creationism to students through his nonprofit Educate for Life, filed a writ of mandate against his opponent in the race, Elva Salinas, for stating on her ballot statement that she is the only candidate with “actual classroom experience” in the race.

[…]

Quite the contrary, says Conover in the court filing; he has ten years of classroom experience teaching Bible classes and intelligent design courses to students through his nonprofit. According to the complaint, the Association of Christian Schools International certified Conover as a secondary teacher and “Bible specialist” in 2010.

Trump was asked directly if he disavowed David Duke and refused to do so claiming that he didn’t know anything about White Supremacists. He was also asked directly about his supporters harassing a Jewish writer for an article about his wife and again refused to condemn the harassment.

It’s only now that Trump is tepidly claiming that he doesn’t want the support of racists. But the hire of Bannon shows where his heart really is.

Hannity. Defending Alex Jones.

Clinton wasn’t attacking Jones for his use of free speech. She was identifying him as someone who specifically engages in conspiracy theories that Trump has latched on to and is spreading throughout his supporters/fan base.

Hannity is excusing Jones’ behavior and fact-free nonsense.

This isn’t exactly a first for Hannity. Remember, he had a rather direct relationship with neo-Nazi Hal Turner in the not too distant past, and there are more than a few other instances where he has given ideological cover for other nativists & white supremacists.

Yes. Honestly, every day that I see Clinton and Kaine out there, the more I am glad they’re the ticket. I have no idea who Bernie would have chosen as his running mate but I feel I can say with some confidence he wouldn’t have made a savvy pick like Kaine. I just don’t see Bernie Sanders as an effective leader and honestly I’m quite disappointed by the fact he’s doing so little campaigning for Clinton. Maybe with college starting up again, he’ll do some appearances for Clinton on college campuses. I dunno. The more I see or in this case the less I see of him, the less impressed I am. There was a story the other day about a bunch of staffers for the new group he set up quitting after he made Comic Book Guy Jeff head of it.

Just wanted to say great comments on your basketball kids last night. I haven’t yet had a chance to go back & upding them, but I did see them last night.

Thank you. Between Trump’s crap and the ISIS shit and the backlash against Black Lives Matter it was a very emotional season last year.

If fans started crossing over into physically threatening my husband would ask officers to escort them out of the gym. And it happened. There were people standing behind kids throwing in the ball and yelling at them, people getting on the court, it was ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. Grown men and women getting escorted out by officers because they think that kind of behavior is acceptable now.

There were certain parts of town we’d go to and i knew it was going to get bad before we even stepped on the court. Mean rednecks on the other side of the gym in Trump hats and shirts? Someone was going to be escorted out, and they’d usually be yelling the whole time. One actually went to jail for hitting an officer.

Those Trump rallies? Those people don’t go there and get their hate on and then leave it there. It spills over into any kind of public gathering. You would not BELIEVE the shit i saw last year. At high school basketball games.

It would be fun to be able to have a DNA analysis that would reveal a lot of things about one’s ancestry. Since I fall into the pasty-white category, I doubt there would be any huge shocks for me, but it would be interesting to know how far back genetics match paternity records. (I’m pretty sure my parents/grandparents weren’t fooling around on the side, but past that, who knows?)

He can’t even get his new political group up and running properly. That may be having some effect on his helping Hillary. It wouldn’t surprise me if he grows frustrated and flames out. Then he’ll just come back as an independent Senator from Vermont and it’ll be “Bernie who” again. I think this all speaks to how he actually runs things. His campaign was not without lack of control issues.

According to my results. I have some very distant Spanish/Portuguese and Italian/Greek. No idea where that would come form. Would assume my mom simply because of geography but there’s also the Black Irish legend of the Spanish Armada survivors mingling with the women of Western Ireland where I have ties on my Dad’s side. And honestly one’s place of birth can only tell you so much. For years, I thought I was Slovak but I’m actually a stateless group called Rusyn. Andy Warhol was from the same group. Honestly, it’s absurd to be racist. We’re all mixed in some way. There’s no such thing as a “purebred”(Sorry not sorry Katrina Pierson) and there’s certainly no such thing as a master race. Truthfully, I’m proud to have a diverse amount of ancestry.

The guy simply isn’t leadership material. He just isn’t. So many people just heard the ideas and thought he should be president because of that and thought that should mean people should overlook that Bernie has no idea about how to truly surround himself with capable people.

re: #265 BlueGrl21

We have got to send these people back under their rocks.

This is exactly why it is essential for Clinton to hammer Trump on the fact that he’s running a bigoted campaign by deliberately appealing to haters and bigots.

Nothing good will come from pretending that this isn’t the central issue of this election.

Way I look at it is this. Trump since he brought Bannon, Ailes, and Conway on board has been trying to run away from some of his past extreme statements. Clinton correctly knows that Bannon especially is a racist piece of shit. Why the hell shouldn’t she highlight that when Trump is going around acting like he suddenly respects minority communities. DS honestly isn’t the most obnoxious former Bernie supporter I’ve seen when it comes to HRC but a lot of them like him I’ve noticed seem to look for anything to find fault with her for and that’s frankly a damned shame.

Donald Trump’s new campaign CEO, Breitbart News executive Steve Bannon, is registered to vote in Florida, but the address he lists in the state is an unoccupied home, The Guardian reported Friday.

Bannon rented the home in Miami-Dade county for his ex-wife, Diane Clohesy, but Bannon does not live there and Clohesy moved out of the house earlier in the year, according to The Guardian.

Because Bannon does not appear to live in the home he lists on his voter registration documents, the Guardian reported, he is “in apparent breach” of state election laws. “Under Florida law, voters must be legal residents of the state and of the county where they register to vote,” the paper reported. The state defines legal residency as the home “where a person mentally intends to make his or her permanent residence.”

Neighbors told The Guardian that the house has been empty for a few months. And the home is set to be knocked down soon to make way for a new development, according to the owner of the house, Luis Guevara.

It’s a gorgeous afternoon here. The temperatures are finally mild and there’s a breeze. I’ve got all the doors and windows open. I could even see the local hills clearly today, for the first time in weeks. (And my best pace ever - gives me hope for a good run at the race on Sunday.)

The traffic still sucks, but at least there is the occasional perk to living in CA.

The MBFing of even this story was sickening. The reporter stated that Hillary’s medical report was “more detailed” but was still “only two pages long” and “a year old.”

This was followed by a story that gave equal weight to Hillary’s speech yesterday and her “super predator” phrase from twenty years ago.

I am so tired of what calls itself journalism these days.

donald has cancelled his rally in Phoenix next week.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has canceled his visit to Phoenix next week, his campaign said Friday.

Trump was scheduled to deliver a speech at a downtown Phoenix hotel on Wednesday. But Brian Seitchik, Trump’s Arizona state director said, “We have postponed next Wednesday’s visit, but we look forward to having another Arizona event scheduled soon.”

The campaign provided no explanation for the cancellation. Trump also canceled a Las Vegas rally scheduled for Friday, although the candidate did travel there en route to a fundraiser in northern Nevada. And earlier this week, Trump called off other scheduled events, including in Colorado.

Quit crying and except it. Trump’s health is OK. It has nothing to do with nothing. Yours on the other hand seems to be lacking if this is the best you can come up with.
Vote: Trump/Pence 2016.

Omaha Suspect Crashes Into Southwest Airlines Jet After Scaling Fence: Cops

A man in Nebraska managed to scale an airport fence, strip down to his boxer shorts, steal a pickup truck and crash it into the nose of an airliner, officials and eyewitnesses said.

The good news is he can still buy as many guns as he can afford.

How hard can it be for the MSM to say that this is an election between a normal politician and a neo-Kluxxer?

Aw, geez.

Someone tell Darth that your job as a candidate is to highlight the differences between you and your opponent, which in this case she has done.

It’s also to expand your constituency as much as possible. In this case, she’s expanding her appeal beyond Liberals and Centrists to rational Conservatives, without having to give them anything. She’s said, “This is your candidate. This is what he espouses, this is who he chooses to hang out with and appeal to. This is what you’re supporting if you support him.”

Normally, there would be little there for Conservatives, but what Trump is proposing, indeed who Trump is, is extreme enough that a number of Conservatives have ALREADY said Trump is so extreme that even though they don’t like Hillary, they’d rather she were President.

And the other thing is, is Darth under the impression that Sanders would do anything different? Or does he think it would still be “The Establishment sucks, vote for me!”, because we already have one of those.

Meanwhile, if Hillary doesn’t, it’s that she’s too passive and forgiving and won’t stand up for the US on a foreign stage. If she does, well, she’s just too aggressive and too much a bitch. Too emotional and strident, should tone it down, women aren’t supposed to talk like that.

There’s an awful lot of sexism going around and a lot of people like to be willfully blind to it, including what they perpetuate.

The HR game seems rife with pitfalls for the employer. I think there are a lot of rules and legalities that they have to follow to be impartial and meet requirements.
I would not take it personally.
