From wikipedia:

The official cause of death was first reported as Streptococcus pneumoniae, a bacterial infection that causes bacterial pneumonia. It was later classified as organ failure resulting from streptococcal toxic shock syndrome (caused by Streptococcus pyogenes). S. pyogenes is the bacterial species that causes strep throat, scarlet fever, and rheumatic fever. It can also cause other infections.

I’m trying to game this out from a wingnut perspective…

Let’s say it turns out in the next week or two that Clinton isn’t healthy enough for the job. So she decides to step aside, what happens?

One of two things, I’m guessing…

Behind Door Number 1: Clinton stays on the ballots, but Democratic electors agree to vote for Kaine as president in the electoral college, and somebody else for VP. So it effectively becomes Kaine vs Trump. Kaine maybe isn’t well know, but we can pretty much guarantee that he’d do better in a head to head match up with Trump (because he’s (a) not Clinton and (b) not Trump).

Behind Door Number 2: The DNC chooses a new nominee, to replace Clinton on the ballot. This one is a bit more difficult, but you don’t think that someone like Joe Biden or Jerry Brown (or one of plenty of other elected Democrats) wouldn’t take the call to step in? In this case, whoever is selected would probably do better in a head to head match up with Trump (because they’re (a) not Clinton and (b) not Trump).

In either case, how, exactly does this help Trump?

Fuck me, this is how we lose elections. Because the hard work done by the stalwarts to bring people into the fold is undone by the fence-sitters running down the aisles towards the exits as they scream “THE END IS NEAR!”

He has claimed that unemployment is actually still extremely high, maybe as high as 42%. With unemployment dwarfing Depression era levels, of course you would keep interest rates extremely low, especially when there is virtually no inflation. So which is it Trump; has the US achieved full employment, meaning all your bloviating about jobs is BS, or is there still a need to help the economy with low interest rates? It can’t be both.

I pulled some chicken and some boneless sirloin pork out of the freezer last week and marinated both for fajitas (slightly different recipes for each marinade) this weekend.
Thus the reason for me window shopping on the internet for tortilla presses.

All these years I’ve been making my corn tortillas by flattening out the ball of masa dough in my hands and slapping it in the skillet or on the grill and calling it a ‘tilla.

who knew?

I smush mine with a dinner plate. the edging on the plate makes them a consistent and perfect thickness. Cost me $1.

I meant as in the screencap in with the xxx(c)state.goy address.

It’s a result of faulty OCR (also note the copyright sign instead of @). The email is likely not fake, but the real story is why Assange is playing politics (we know the answer to that one).

re: #187 Backwoods_Sleuth

I pulled some chicken and some boneless sirloin pork out of the freezer last week and marinated both for fajitas (slightly different recipes for each marinade) this weekend.
Thus the reason for me window shopping on the internet for tortilla presses.
I’ll just stay with my usual way of making them here at home and, failing that, there is always a particular “fresh” brand available at Kroger’s that’s pretty good if on the rare occasion I need a very large quantity.

Or “Windows Shopping”, depending on your choice of OS.

Seeing Sergey reminded me that I wanted to tell you guys about a film I started watching last week called Kurmanjan Datka (that’s the original title, it’s also called Queen of the Mountains, which is how it’s listed in IMDb).

Anyway, I heard about it via the AramcoWorld newsletter, so I went off in search of it because it’s the kind of movie that appeals to me: an epic historical film about a legendary Kyrgyz woman (named Kurmanjan Datka). It’s a long film (over 2 hours), but the cinematography—OMG, the eye candy! It’s kinda like Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan, if any of you are familiar with that one. I couldn’t find it on sale anywhere, but it turns out the entire thing is on YouTube, complete with English subtitles. Yay!

I’ve only watched the first 1/3 of of it, but it was really good and I hope to watch the rest sometime this week. Here it is:

Yes, he did…at 9:30 or 10 pm…after I went to bed but before I fell asleep. He was pretty much a yuge puddle of exhaustion by then.

Oh, they’re in the basket too. Sorry, but good people who do nothing when surrounded by bigotry, hate, and a candidate who has condoned violence against protesters (among other things) is in the basket. They too are part of the problem. They don’t stand up and demand Trump change (because changing would be violate their core reason for supporting Trump in the first place - namely being for Trump’s racist/bigoted positions).

There are those who are Never Hillary, and have therefore gone for Trump (or Stein or Johnson). But if they’re sticking with Trump, they they own Trump’s stink too unless they call Trump out for all of his heinous and bigoted positions.

Affluent high school is accused of racism after holding a Trump-themed pep rally before football game against racially-diverse team

An affluent high school has been accused of racism after holding a Donald Trump-themed pep rally, complete with their own version of the border wall.
Colleyville Heritage High School in Texas, posted pictures on social media of their Republican candidate-inspired event called ‘Make Colleyville Great Again’ on Friday.
It was held in ahead of a football game against more disadvantaged and racially diverse opponents, Trinity High in Euless.

Colleyville Heritage High School in Texas, posted pictures on social media of their Republican candidate-inspired event called ‘Make Colleyville Great Again’. It included their own wall which they said was paid for by their football opponents, Trinity High
On their cardboard, handmade wall, they wrote: ‘Paid for by Trinity.’
Another poster read: ‘Colleyville is going to TRUMP trinity [sic] tonight.’

Colleyville lost 35-21. A harbinger of the election?

Looks like their football team sucks as bad as Trump does.

Looks good! I find that half the battle is in the tortilla. Here in TX we have a very good choice selection. When I go to visit family in GA, I usually make my own. I haven’t been able to find good tortillas commercially available there.

If I’d been the Euless AD, I would have been tempted to have the Trinity team arrive in a fleet of borrowed taco trucks. I’m pretty sure the local operators would have been pleased to offer their services.

Pence: “I’m not in the name calling business…”

That’s deplorable.

I bought a small package of flour tortillas (it’s just like lawash!) because the corn tortillas did not come in packages of less than 25.

Just promise to not put them in the microwave to heat up. Need to be a little toasty without being too crisp. My mother in law told me years ago if you marry a Mexican you need a good cast iron comal…which she gave me and I still use 30 years later.

She laughingly said it was also good for whacking him with when needed. I haven’t had to do that.

re: #192 CuriousLurker

Seeing Sergey reminded me that I wanted to tell you guys about a film I started watching last week called Kurmanjan Datka (that’s the original title, it’s also called Queen of the Mountains, which is how it’s listed in IMDb).

Anyway, I heard bout it via the AramcoWorld newsletter, so I went off in search of it because it’s the kind of movie that appeals to me: an epic historical film about a legendary Kyrgyz woman (named Kurmanjan Datka). It’s a long film (over 2 hours), but the cinematography—OMG, eye candy. It’s kinda like Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan if any of you are familiar with that one. I couldn’t find it on sale anywhere, but it turns out the entire things is on YouTube, complete with English subtitles. Yay!

I’ve only watch the first 1/3 of of it, but it was really good and I hope to watch the rest sometime this week. Here it is:

[Embedded content]

Thanks for looking into that! I get that newsletter (Aramco World is the BEST magazine), and wanted to see it. How much bandwidth would it take to stream that movie? I’m going to give up my tv, I think. Too much money for not that much use.

Unless it’s just a really bad screen cap and it really says “state.gov” then this is completely bogus and should have been identified as such in like 0.3 seconds.

It looks like uncorrected OCR.

sorry, but I fail to see how an uncorrected OCR is/was “easier” to use than a freaking screenshot of the actual email.
And then no one bothered to look at the damned tweet before hitting “post”!

These wikileaks people are just so ridiculous.
