After Shootout, Police Arrest Ahmad Khan Rahami for NY/NJ Bombs

Passed out in the doorway of a bar
US News • Views: 49,561

A naturalized US citizen of Afghan descent, Ahmad Khan Rahami, has been arrested in New Jersey after a shootout with police. He was identified on surveillance video placing the bombs in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, and his fingerprints were found on the pressure cooker bomb that did not explode. Ahmad was found apparently passed out in the doorway of a bar.

Congratulations to law enforcement for tracking down and capturing Ahmad before he could commit any more acts of terrorism. As I write this, officials say they have no evidence linking Ahmad to any international terror groups, but of course that could change as the investigation proceeds.

The man believed to be responsible for the explosion in Manhattan on Saturday night and an earlier bombing in New Jersey, Ahmad Khan Rahami, was taken into custody on Monday after he was wounded in a gunfight with the police, according to law enforcement officials.

The dramatic episode on a rain-soaked street in Linden, N.J., came after the police issued a cellphone alert to millions of residents in the area telling them to be on the lookout for Mr. Rahami, 28, who was described as “armed and dangerous.”

The showdown started at around 10:30 a.m. when a resident spotted Mr. Rahami sleeping in the doorway of a bar, according to officials.

And as usual, Donald Trump wasted no time trying to capitalize on the news to spread fear and xenophobia:

UPDATE at 9/19/16 10:46:29 am by Charles Johnson

Local New York site DNAinfo cites unnamed “sources” that Rahami had a website on which he posted about radical Islam.

It still wasn’t immediately clear why he planted the explosives, but sources said he had posted radical Islamic writings on his personal website.

Best case scenario here is Trump plays true to form and seriously overplays his hand. This happening so close to the debates is going to bring foreign policy back to the forefront and that’s the best way for Hillary to swiftly kick him in the balls on live TV.

Still nobody coming forward to claim this asshole, though I’m sure once they start digging into his history we’ll see ISIS or some other group “claim” his attacks as their own just for the street cred.

Personally, give the info about his family’s restaurant, I’m leaning towards his being “self-radicalized,” or a “lone wolf” if he were a random white guy.

Rod Dreher having another Steve Sailor session…

“We can’t ignore the findings,” says Ali Noorani, executive director of the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition. “The big question we have to ask ourselves is, what do we do about it; what are the next steps?”

When you are struggling mightily to integrate the Muslims you already have, as Europe is, it is not wise to import massive numbers of them. Not if you want to maintain a cohesive society.

Dreher then follows up with a shot of the wanted poster for Ahmed Rahmi and this statement:

UPDATE.2: Remember, #DiversityIsOurStrength.

BTW, last week Dreher defended the blasphemy law in Russia that sent a teen to jail for playing Pokémon Go in an Orthodox Church.

Most Americans don’t own any firearms. And why is it surprising that 3% own 50% of the firearms in circulation (and then think that people should simultaneously be respectful of government and law enforcement, but stockpile weapons because of government tyranny).

Cognitive dissonance has shriveled the minds of these folks.

Since the beginning of this election, we’ve heard wingnuts:

- Hope for the opposing candidate to be jailed, assassinated, or struck down by illness
- Celebrate every sign of a potential economic downturn and actually argue that a strengthening economy is a bad thing
- Promote worship of a foreign autocrat and argue that he’s a “better leader” than our President because state-controlled polls show high approval
- Cheer the insulting of our armed forces and our intelligence services
- Tear down the FBI director they once argued was the second-coming of Elliot Ness
- And gotten all sorts of giddy over three terrorist attacks on US soil because the terrorist was a Muslim and they perceive that as bolstering their argument that Islam should be banned

If you ever wanted an idea of what sort of nation would put a monster like Hitler into power, then you’ve got a front-row seat to the shitshow.

Over at Balloon Juice.

Crazy, if true…folks looking to loot unattended suitcases may have actually prevented deaths with one of the pressure cooker bombs.

There are still conflicting reports surrounding a second explosive device that was found Saturday night on West 27th Street in New York, but reports indicate that individuals looking to pick up an unattended suitcase may have inadvertently thwarted a second explosion.

NBC News reported that surveillance video showed “a man leaving behind a piece of luggage before two other people come along, take a device out of the bag and walk away with just the suitcase”

According to DNA info, two people saw a suitcase on West 27th Street, opened it up and took a pressure cooker out “before placing the explosive into a garbage bag and walking away with the rolling suitcase.”

According to DNA info, “investigators believe they inadvertently disabled the explosive.”

It was the first, but not the last scavenging incident that may have actually saved lives in New York and New Jersey over the weekend. According to other reports, two men were also responsible for locating explosives in an unattended backpack at an Elizabeth, New Jersey train station Sunday evening. There, two men found a backpack, walked some distance with it before stopping and discovering it was filled with wires.

In that incident, police were notified and five explosive devices were found.

Meanwhile, Trump and friends are floating the need for more profiling, extra profiling, all the profiling, because any one of THEM!!!!! could be the terrorist that KILLS YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY!!!

And they’ll say those who aren’t board on the profiling train and deportation train are the real cowards for “not doing what needs to be done”. Once again, selling that cowardice is actually bravery, and bravery is actually cowardice.

“We need to be looking into their lives, into their mosques, doing everything we can to find information to prove these Muslims are all terrorists and…WHAT?! HOW DARE THE GOVERNMENT LOOK INTO MY CELL DATA?!”

They’re nowhere near as tough as they think they are. In fact, I’d even call them cowards.

But that’s just because you’re the real coward for not taking the threat of all the Muslins seriously, you sympathizer!!

I still so fucking resent the pantswetters getting treated like rock ribbed warriors who promote ‘what needs to be done’ as if they weren’t paranoiacs.

Friend must be really bored at work if he’s posting the bogus Steve Crowder quote where Hitler declares the NSDAP socialists. I feel sorry for him. He makes a good wage yet he’s got all these stupid resentments fed by right wing losers like Crowder who proclaim to hate big government but love using it push their idea of morality.

He needs to be louder about that. He’s no where near as a willing or effective surrogate as HRC was for Obama and honestly that really speaks to why his revolution wasn’t going to succeed. Sorry, I don’t hate Bernie but I resent his bros who push bs still because they’re bitter Betnie lost.

The Bros decided at the convention that Bernie was a traitor to the “revolution” and walked out on him. Just like predicted, all those months of promoting all sorts of anger and hatred towards Hillary has made his campaigning for her look hollow. He’s doing this more to get back on the party’s good side than because it’ll have any real effect on the election.

That is a blatant misrepresentation of the transcript on that page. I am no Chuck Todd fan but, come on.

Here is the MTP transcript according to the linked website”

CHUCK TODD:

You guys have higher ground on this issue, on this whole idea of transparency, and her accountability. If you guys were as transparent, releasing the tax returns, him releasing his tax returns, whatever you want to say about the Clintons, and we know this because the information has either been dragged out of them or it’s been disclosed. We don’t have any disclosures. We don’t have your tax returns.

She’s not a Democrat. That’s is the beginning and end of her support, she’s the “protest vote” for emoprogs looking to give themselves an excuse to bitch for the next 4-8 years.

She’s the vote for the emoprog type who would rather the Dems be out of power so their fantasy of a revolution would come quicker and doesn’t care about people’s lives negatively being impacted by Trump.

They demonize and threaten and harass Muslims and then they get furious, absolutely furious when an angry Muslim commits an act against them.

It would be like me calling someone an ugly, worthless, small dicked asshole and then complaining about the slap to my face that follows.

Ahmed and his family left the country because they FEARED FOR THEIR LIVES.

I do not advocate violence but I also don’t blame American Muslims for being pissed off right now.

And if, god forbid, Trump does win it’s going to get a hundred times worse.

I probably fit into that concentration bracket. I have 6 weapons, mostly hunting types along with my Brown Bess for Revolutionary War stuff. I will likely get another semi auto .22 for plinking with my kid.

So sure, it is a lot of guns I suppose.

But I am not saving up for the apocalypse…

And that is fine.
I’m a happy member of the 78% since I outsource my personal protection to the police/military and my protein acquisition to my local grocery store’s butcher.

I think a better metric might be how much ammunition people have sitting around to protect them from that coming apocalypse.

I saw the other day that there were Sanders supporters at his rally who had “Bernie or Bust” signs, and he took them aside to talk to them. I would be curious how that turned out.

I delved into the cesspool that is caucus99 or some such shit. They are total loons. Convinced that Hillary and her gang beat Bernie up during the convention (yes, physically beat him) to get him to go along with the program, and that Putin has said (and boy do they believe) that Jane has had her life threatenend by Hillary. Oh, and that Bernie actually won the primary, but it was totally stolen from him.

But they also now hate Bernie—think he’s a sellout and they’re all in for Jill Stein, although they know that will help Trump, but it’s OK, because if Trump wins then finally the DNC will know they weren’t just kidding around and all will be well.

There’s more, but I felt the need to take a long, hot shower…
