At Site Run by Trump’s Campaign CEO, Commenters Call for Mass Deportation and Murder

The site run by Trump’s campaign chief

Trump campaign CEO/Breitbart “News” owner Stephen Bannon

At Breitbart “News,” the website run by Donald Trump’s campaign CEO Stephen Bannon, commenters instantly launched an orgy of hate speech and genocidal rhetoric targeting all Muslims following the arrest of Ahmad Khan Rahami.

Here’s a small selection of the huge number of hateful comments posted here. It’s hidden by default, because let’s face it — this is seriously nasty stuff.

Just like ghetto thugs, who were “going to college” before they went bad and started killing, Muslims always change after a trip somewhere. IT’S NEVER JUST THE WAY THEY ARE, IT’S SOMEBODY OR SOMETHING ELSE’S FAULT. I say, “Bulldookie!” unless they admit it’s ISLAM’S FAULT.

[…]

Sameo! Sameo! He was an example of peace and loving before he traveled over seas. He came back different. How many times have you heard this. Bullcrap they are violent animals to start with and must be stopped with any and all measures.

[…]

Rahami was a good little moose limb terrorist. He didn’t let any feelings of gratitude for the U.S. taking him in, making him a citizen, and allowing him to be free and prosperous to dissuade him from attacking the “Great Satan.”

[…]

Would you eat at a rag restaurant?

Thats about as bright as complaining about your meal then sending back to the same cook.

[…]

If you’re under 50 years old and buying a pressure cooker, you should have a police tail put on you. If you’re a Muslim that should be an even bigger red flag. The criminal nature of this government irresponsibility is staggering.

[…]

these rags are one group of one heII of an ugly species.

[…]

Somebody has to clean out all the domestic trash

[…]

Christians return from their Holy sites with love and forgiveness of mankind.

Muslims return from their Holy sites with detailed training on how to build IEDs

[…]

I want to see true americans rise up exercise their 2 amendment right and purge this country all muslims.

[…]

In World War II they just would have hung people like this and make it a public event and videotape it. With some free chicken.

[…]

We should do the same: burned alive in melted bacon. I know, extreme, cruel, but after a couple of these, they will think twice.

[…]

Islam is a cancer. It’s time to perform chemotherapy on it before it metastasises any further.

[…]

Lets just send the guy to Gitmo, no trial, no additional press, just send them all to Gitmo, they are enemy combatants. period.

[…]

See how easily they can fool people into thinking they are nice people. They are like ticking bombs just waiting to go off. You just don’t know when and where.

[…]

But that’s just the point. “Moderate” muslims are just a few pages of the koran away from being a terrorist. They become “more religious” and they want to maim, rape and behead other human beings.

[…]

obama administration is in on this criminal act

[…]

No, he did not change after his Afghanistan trip. The idea that Muslim’s are somehow magically radicalized is a myth and a trick. Their leader Mohamed was a murderer, pedophile, liar, and follower of Satan. He was probably demon possessed.

[…]

ALL Muslims are just a heart beat away from being “radicalized”. Their Koran provides the command for them to KILL all infidels.

[…]

Every last Muslim needs to be sent back. I don’t care what their legal status is. If we want to save Western Civilization, there is no other option.

[…]

This is why ALL Muslims should be deported, they are ALL ticking time bombs!

[…]

‘Peaceful and friendly Muslims’ are always one step away from becoming killers.

They demonize and threaten and harass Muslims and then they get furious, absolutely furious when an angry Muslim commits an act against them.

It would be like me calling someone an ugly, worthless, small dicked asshole and then complaining about the slap to my face that follows.

I do not advocate violence but I also don’t blame American Muslims for being pissed off right now.

And if, god forbid, Trump does win it’s going to get a hundred times worse.

How soon before Trump suggests “some people say” Muslims should be rounded up like Imperial-Japanese-sympathizers during World War 2.

And even at the height of WW2 nobody ever suggested rounding up the German American Bund.

Oh, so you should go see some Christian Holy sites then.

I went to the Vatican (as an atheist). Ran into a bunch of Southern Baptists on an organised tour there, talking about how much they hated Catholics (but they were still touring St. Peter’s).

My guess is they went back with the same love they went in with.

Meanwhile, loving Christian Scott Lively is still going to face genocide charges.

Europeans have being learning that the hard way in recent years, with all the anti-immigrant sentiment leading to a generation of young men who feel no love for their adopted countries, a lot of anger over the hate directed at them, and the perception that they have nothing to lose and everything to gain by promoting an ideology that says people like them are the ones who their chosen deity smiles upon. Actually…

Shortly after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, some 1,260 German nationals were detained, as the government had been watching them. Of the 254 persons evicted from coastal areas, the majority were ethnic German. During WWII, German nationals and German Americans in the US were detained and/or evicted from coastal areas on an individual basis. Although the War Department (Department of Defense) considered mass expulsion of ethnic Germans and ethnic Italians from the East or West coast areas for reasons of military security, it did not follow through with this. The numbers of people involved would have been overwhelming to manage.

A total of 11,507 people of German ancestry were interned during the war. They comprised 36.1% of the total internments under the US Justice Department’s Enemy Alien Control Program. Of the 254 enemy aliens evicted from coastal areas (excluding Japanese Americans), the majority were German

According to the NYT:

Mr. Rahami was born on Jan. 23, 1988, in Afghanistan. He was described as a naturalized citizen who had been living with his family in Elizabeth, not far from where he was arrested. Associates said that several years ago Mr. Rahami traveled to his homeland and when he returned, he showed signs of radicalization. The significance of the visit was not immediately clear. It was not known whether he had any links to an overseas terror organization, or whether he had been inspired by such organizations and their propaganda efforts, as others have been.

I’ve yet to see anything on when he was naturalized or when he came to the US. We’ve seen a lot of these cases of “he went there and became radicalized” and it makes me wonder what happens on those trips.

Whenever I hear someone using the word “radicalize” I start grinding my teeth a bit…

Regardless of cult, belief, religion, movement, whatever… it is young people who are most caught up.

This is known, and one doesn’t have to be particularly bright to notice it.

People can be convinced to do terrible things. Younger people more than older people. Not that older people can’t be convinced to do terrible things, but if one looks across the landscape of violence the phenomenon is that younger people can be more coerced.

I’m not claiming older people are inherently wiser - wish that were the case. It’s just that we become less pliable as we age. If one hasn’t been convinced by age 50 to go out and do some horrible act of violence, it’s going to be hard to convince them at age 52 that person will suddenly go out and cause mass destruction. That’s why training camps of terrorist organizations recruit the youngest people possible.

That, and I presume many Jewish voters understand the RNWJ fantasy of all the Jews going to Israel is the prelude for Christianity’s Armageddon. I’m guessing a large percentage of Jews do not want that.

As for their idea of identity politics, more projection.

Well, here’s the thing - we only have Presidential elections every 4 years, so the N is very small to try and determine accuracy.

Sam Wang and Nate Silver try to do the same thing, each with their own particular take on probability and percent uncertainty, and come up with similar expected outcomes with very different percent probabilities. In 2012, they both pretty much hit the nail on the head. But with an N of 1 every 4 years, it is not really possible to know whose probabilities are more accurate.

Minnesota police chief swats down Steve Doocy on FOX. Mr. Doocy was looking for confirmation from the police chief on the evils of immigrants in regard to the stabbing there.

Video

STEVE DOOCY (CO-HOST): So, Chief, as you listen to Donald Trump talking about — of course, he would like extreme vetting going forward. I know there are close to 6,000 Somalis who live in the St. Cloud area. Do you share his concern about who is coming into the country?

POLICE CHIEF WILLIAM BLAIR ANDERSON: Well, first of all, my job is public safety. It’s not immigration policy. I can tell you that the vast majority of all of our citizens, no matter their ethnicity, are fine, hard-working people, and now is not the time for us to be divisive. We already have a very cohesive community, and I expect that this will draw us even closer together. But at the end of the day, our job is public safety, period.

The interview only went on a few more seconds, because they weren’t getting the answer they wanted out of him.

I’m not sure you could pick topics that everyone would agree are “neutral” topics. For example, if the topics were instead:

Women’s reproductive rights
Making college accessible
Health Care

I suspect the right wing would claim the media is in the tank for Mrs. Clinton.

I also suspect that regardless of the topic, provided the debate is moderated fairly, Mrs. Clinton could wipe the debate floor with the Velveeta Racoon’s raccoon.

From his statement:

We also desperately need the active participation of American Muslims who see the jihadis for what they are: the enemies of all who celebrate freedom and tolerance.

Yeah, we just put on our special jihadi detecting glasses. 😎

Congress should act to prevent Americans who have travelled abroad for training from returning here, and to stop the flow of refugees from hotbeds of terrorism in the Middle East that President Obama is determined to bring to our country.

So American citizens should be expatriated without due process? How would one find out what they traveled abroad for? Where would they be sent upon return, Gitmo? Would there be secret military tribunals, or what? Yeah, you smarmy asshole, threatening to do this will really make us want to help. (I guess, presumably, we’re not ALREADY helping.)

My answer to those three “questions” (and why I could never be elected to office):

1) There is no thing that ought to be engineered as far as “direction” - it’s a meaningless idea. That this question is even asked is a holdover from religious-zealotry which asks variant of this question to entrap people into a belief system. The moderator might as well ask “Is America going to Heaven or Hell?” and then offer up a Chick tract.

2) What is “prosperity”? Is it money? Or is it happiness?

3) There is no external existential threat to the US.

So American citizens should be expatriated without due process? How would one find out what they traveled abroad for? Where would they be sent upon return, Gitmo? This is a big problem: the national conversation is being steered for high drama rather than for solving real problems.

Not only does Drumpfskind play into the baser parts of human nature, but the entire election-industry, which includes what we used to call the media, strives for more drama (to drive ratings.)

And that is why the debate commission, which to do its job needs the broadcasters on board, frames the “debate” with very loaded verbs.

I don’t think you could come up with vaguer topics than these. BUT, in each case, there’s something HRC can nail him with, because his solutions on those issues are all backward-looking horseshit.

The main difference between Sam Wang and Nate Silver is Wang isn’t in it for the money. He’s an academic, a tenured professor who isn’t trying to sell ad views. This is his hobby. All he cares about is the statistical accuracy and scientific validity of his model.

Silver has massively commercialized his product, sold it repeatedly (most recently to ESPN,) hyped it and has a vested interest in making it as visually and emotionally engaging as possible. Silver’s bottom line depends on getting people to come back every day and check how things are doing, he profits from the very thing he used to criticize, the media horserace narrative. That, in my opinion, explains a great deal of the volatility in his model, especially this year.

Mmpf. Twitter also made it so that quoted tweets no longer count toward the character limit, but this only works if you use the “Quote Tweet” option on their website or in TweetDeck. The only way to embed a quoted tweet with the Twitter API is to include the URL of the quoted tweet in your tweet - but if you do this with the API it still counts as a URL.

RTWT. It ends with this:

[…]

I realize that there is far more detail here about Poland than most non-Polish readers care to know. But I’m offering it for a reason. Trump, like Kaczynski, pushed a patently false conspiracy theory hard for many years, despite the utter lack of evidence. Last week, he found it expedient to discard that theory, but once he is president, he might find it expedient to adopt it again — or perhaps to push one of the many others he has championed. As president, he can then use the state — the Justice Department, the security bureaucracy, the FBI — to pursue them. A Trump administration could make birtherism the excuse for fake investigations, hearings and even trials that would do terrible and irreversible damage to U.S. politics and the rule of law.

It all sounds unthinkable, of course. But if you’d asked me five years ago, or even one year ago, I would have told you that the transformation of the Smolensk conspiracy theory into state ideology was unthinkable, too. And yet it has come to pass.

In all seriousness, though, this is what Bush’s war on terror brought us… the idea that we don’t need due process of law for terrorists because reasons. A society’s values aren’t tested in times of peace and prosperity, they are tested in times of crisis and panic, and we have a large percentage of people who are actively rooting against our values.

Here is a longish read from Politico on “Glenn Beck’s bad bet on Ted Cruz” playing a role in his business troubles. It is probably worth a few minutes of your day, but for me they buried the most fascinating detail at the end: the fact that Beck “rented” his email list to Trump for fundraising purposes.

Yes, the man who called Trump a “narcissistic psychopath” who will cause a civil war is now making money of his efforts to become president.

I’ve joked before, but I’m fairly certain I’d be a better lawyer if we had trial by combat.

The same people who speak of rights coming from God, not government will tell you noncitizens have no rights.

I believe Silver’s model includes results from online polls. I can’t see any way to make that valid.

RTWT. It ends with this:

I seriously think the Democratic Party’s opposition research organization needs to broaden its focus to include things like the conspiracy industry, Sovereign citizens (especially “sovereign sheriffs”) and the Texas Independence Movement. The latter, you might recall, was a running joke until Russian wingnuts started to take an interest in it. Now it is officially enshrined in GOP county platforms all over Texas.

It is understandable that op-research has tended to ignore these phenomena. Op-research specialists are political professionals and these things have always been on the safely ignored fringe. The fringe dwellers have moved into the mainstream, however; perhaps more quickly than professional political operatives have been able to adjust. It seems possible that Republican operatives were able to adjust more quickly than Democrats because their 40 year romance with the religious right has accustomed them to hinterland hucksters and their methods and audience.

Well, there is a thing in Japan (izakaya) that is most easily explained to non-Japanese folks as “Japanese tapas.” (I am guilty of having used this description myself.)

It’s more the concept of small dishes served to accompany drinking and has nothing to do with any kind of Spanish cooking whatsoever. Assuming that’s what the place actually is.

remember also that heat running is training just like running itself is training. it gets easier, you get better at it, and it gets more enjoyable. just like trail running, hills, whatever

That too. I’m a Bay Area native and living in the Denver area, and then Lancaster, PA was a fine thing when I was younger, what with the snow and all. I’m quite happy to be back in the Bay Area for my older years. Slipping on the ice can be amusing when you are 25 (just like a cartoon-feet up in the air, landing on butt, some bruising, no permanent damage,) but nearly 4 decades later, I don’t think it would have the same charm. Good comments both. I think for a long time politics functioned at a pretty high level in this country. There was a lot of dirt flung, to be sure, but not a lot of brazen, crazy lies. It took fundamentalist charlatans to demonstrate to the high-hat politicos just what it was possible to get away with in the way of big lies, especially with a certain, unfortunately very large, segment of the electorate. I first saw this in 2003, when I supported the Bush invasion of Iraq. In spite of some inconsistencies, I believed the WMD claims because I thought Bush could not possibly get away with lying about it. As I actually said right here, “He knows that if our guys go into Iraq and fail to turn up the WMDs, he is finished. Impeachment would not be out of the question.” I figured he had to know something I didn’t. Looks like he did, but it had nothing to do with actual WMDs.

AGU at odds with the GOP:

Geophysicists: Evolution ‘Must Be Central’ in Science Ed

The American Geophysical Union has reaffirmed its position on teaching Earth history and evolution. “Scientific theories of Earth history and biological evolution are fundamental to understanding the natural world, are supported by extensive evidence and are noncontroversial within the scientific community,” the union’s updated statement says. “These principles of scientific understanding must be central elements of science education.”

The union says that no “alternative explanations” for biological evolution have been found, and that explanations of natural phenomena that appeal “to the supernatural based on religious doctrine — and therefore cannot be tested through scientific inquiry — are not scientific, and have no place in the science classroom. … To deny students a full understanding of the theory of evolution in the context of Earth history is to deprive them of an important part of their intellectual heritage.”

Are people really considering banning pressure cookers?

How many people get killed with guns vs. people who get killed with pressure cookers?

Obviously unlike guns, pressure cookers should be registered and owners licensed./

I would caution you, however, about running with no water. I speak as a kidney stone sufferer. My Doc says she thinks of weekends like this last one as ‘Kidney Stone Weather’, and indeed, the last time I had a bad attack, it was after a long ride on a hot day. That’s why I no longer do any ride >1h without water, and yesterday’s 3 1/2 hour ride involved drinking about 4 x 24oz bottles on the bike, and more after my return.

oh i agree entirely - i was shortcutting my description

10k is (well was) under an hour and under 85 degrees. i drink when i get back.
either over 85 or over an hour, i always carry water.
over 1 1/2 hrs, and were into gatorade, nutrition, drinking on a schedule etc
i carry 20 oz. if i need more, i buy on the road

re: #316 Belafon

One of the arguments against women’s suffrage, in the early days, at least, was that a married woman would vote the same as her husband, so there was no need for them to cast votes. Most states allowed unmarried (white, landowning) women to vote in the founding era, and New Jersey actually allowed all women to vote for about a decade or so. So, the idea that this new group of voters would end up voting like some other group in the same house doesn’t quite fit.

It is an interesting question as to what age one gets the right to vote. It used to be 21 because that was the age of majority. Then we lowered it to 18 because the age of majority was slowly lowered. At 18 you can be drafted, you can enter into contracts (most contracts involving a minor are voidable), you can vote, you can get married without anyone’s permission. But you can’t buy a beer, and in California (and I believe Hawaii), you can’t have a smoke either. To make matters even more complicated, we occasionally choose to try minors as adults. Many states also have the age of consent set below 18. Quite honestly, even though we tend to think of 18 as a line of demarcation between minor and adult, our laws don’t really reflect that.

He’s a US citizen Lindsay and you as a lawyer should know be better then that instead of pandering to the idiots who hate you anyhow.

Depending on when he was naturalized his citizenship could be revoked. I think someone said he was naturalized in 2011 so he may be on the cusp of the 5 years. I mean, he still shouldn’t be packed off to gitmo, but I would have no problem stripping him of his citizenship if this applies.

uscis.gov

A person is subject to revocation of naturalization if the person becomes a member of, or affiliated with, the Communist party, other totalitarian party, or terrorist organization within five years of his or her naturalization. [6] In general, a person who is involved with such organizations cannot establish the naturalization requirements of having an attachment to the Constitution and of being well-disposed to the good order and happiness of the United States. [7]

The fact that a person becomes involved with such an organization within five years after the date of naturalization is prima facie evidence that he or she concealed or willfully misrepresented material evidence that would have prevented the person’s naturalization.

Hey, jogging ain’t for sissies. I was in the woods on Saturday and encountered a passive-aggressive tree root. Result: 12 stitches in my face, various scrapes and contusions, and a new pair of glasses coming up. I’m fine, really, you just dont want to see my face for the next week or two. (Also, I am thankful that I am healthy enough to have these problems!)

BTW the two dogs with me (a Jack Russell & a Russell/Beagle mix) were great: stopped and waited quietly, and gently escorted me back down to the car. Urgent care was also excellent, coming in as I did before the Saturday night rush. The sky is blue, the sun is shining, and Hillary is winning.

According to the NYT:

I’ve yet to see anything on when he was naturalized or when he came to the US. We’ve seen a lot of these cases of “he went there and became radicalized” and it makes me wonder what happens on those trips.

Probably the same thing that happens when someone like Dylann Roof (Charleston S. Carolina killer of 8) goes online or bumps into white supremacists and listens to them. It seems to me they are lost people looking for identity and making themselves someone to be dealt with rather than the loser they may see themselves as prior to the change.

I think it is a mistake to think it takes some magic or special place or people to make the change. They are seeking change and they will find it wherever they can. Sometimes in the deep dark pockets of their own minds as in mental illness.

When you use our LGF Connect popup dialog to post tweets, or when you post an LGF Page and a tweet is automatically sent out, images in your tweet no longer count toward the 140-character limit. Effectively this means you now have at least 24 more characters for text. Since you can include up to four images in a tweet it could give you up to 96 extra characters to work with.

That’s part of why I do my running on a track, but the track I use has the passive-aggressive tree root problem. But, as you said, ‘The sky is blue, the sun is shining, and Hillary is winning’, so no problem today.

What Islamophobia? No such thing!

In the period from 2000-2010 15% of DOJ RLUIPA investigations into land use or institutional religious discrimination involved mosques or Islamic schools. In the past six years the number has risen to 37%. Muslims make up about 1% of the population.

But remember, it’s just the parking/traffic/noise—never discrimination!

re: #278 Blind Frog Belly White

Mrs. FBW just saw that her Grandparents’ house, in the middle of nowhere in the Upper Lefthand Corner of PA is for sale. She’s fantasizing about buying it, renting it out to cover the mortgage until we retire, then moving there. I should remind her of this, especially after Saturday night, when neither of us felt like cooking, so we went out for Potstickers, Black Bean Sauce Chow Fun, and Eggplant with Garlic Sauce.

The town where that house is has one of those ‘Asian Cuisine’ places. We ate there once. It was horrible.

Hey, that’s where I live.

There are enough lefties that still support him that it would make them angry if he were arrested. Is he willing to sacrifice himself for Trump?

We don’t have a Syrian Refugee problem.

We have a Donald trump and his family problem, playing into people’s most basest irrational fears and vile toxic hatred with a carny act that we all know is a fraud, trying to run for the most power position in the free world, so your family can become a ruling Dynasty.

Fuck off, Junior.

I would add that the uptick started in 2010, which is when Geller started the whole Ground-Zero-Mega-Mosque-of-Terror bullshit and her pal David Yerushalmi started the Sharia scare-mongering.

I’ve done my homework on all this for years. I’m not talking out of my ass.

I listened to the Bauer and Rose Show for a few seconds this weekend on the Sirius Patriot Channel. They were pushing Muslim hatred hard, basically calling all Muslims terrorists. it was sickening, and its the message getting pounded into the ears of rightwing media consumers.

And a lot of people fall for it.

They know nothing about history and hate.

If Donald Trump, Jr. had a bowl of Skittles and told you that three of them were going to kill you, then hired all of them to work at his dad’s hotels while you weren’t looking…

Also, I wonder what Skittles thinks about some rich kid with deep, sue-worthy pockets implying that their candy is poison…

It may be that they are concentrating on the growth of Wahabbi Madras schools and Mosques, which even the NYT has criticized. I’d like to disagree with that, but I really can’t. Our Friends The Saudis don’t love us.

A couple of last little nit-picks, just to annoy you: 1.) It’s Wahhabi with a double “h,” and 2.) madrasa is the Arabic word for “school”—saying “madrasa schools” is redundant. It comes from the root word درس, which has to do with lessons, learning, etc.

Oh, and Madras is a city in India that’s now known as Chennai.

That’s part of why I do my running on a track, but the track I use has the passive-aggressive tree root problem. But, as you said, ‘The sky is blue, the sun is shining, and Hillary is winning’, so no problem today.

Went back just now (walking) with the dogs, and they found the spot: damn root was covered with leaves! But a lovely day.

re: #374 CuriousLurker

Sorry, I don’t buy that. Most of them don’t have the slightest idea how the mosques are being funded, they only know what they heard from the hate bloggers.

As for “the growth of Wahabbi Madras schools and Mosques” can you please provide a link for that from a credible source? Preferably something recent, like within the last 5 years or so. I’ll be waiting.

I have spent the last four hours trying to justify my #370 and I am completely unable to do so. You are absolutely correct. There is no evidence I can find that American bigotry makes any differentiation between any any flavor of Islam.

I will pull my forelock and admit my ignorance to the Dogs above. I was hoping for some balance in my fellow citizens, and it does not exist.
