Pence Says Gennifer Flowers Won’t Be at Debate, Trump Was Just “Mocking” Clinton

Making a mockery of the presidential election
Politics • Views: 48,152

You probably heard the news yesterday that Donald Trump was going to invite Bill Clinton’s ex-mistress Gennifer Flowers to the debate tomorrow night. Today, Mike Pence says she’s not going to be there; Trump was just “mocking” Hillary Clinton.

“Gennifer Flowers will not be attending the debate tomorrow night,” Mr. Pence said. “Donald was using the tweet yesterday really to mock an effort by Hillary Clinton and her campaign…”

Right, “mock” her in the most misogynistic way imaginable — by trying to shame Clinton by waving her husband’s mistress at her. No, this is not equivalent in any way to the Clinton campaign inviting Mark Cuban, who has been taking a stand against Trump — unless Cuban has had an affair with one of Trump’s wives, that is.

It’s a grotesque thing to do, but I guess we’re all supposed to be used to this kind of ugly behavior by Donald Trump now. He got a rise out of his debased right wing followers with it, and that’s apparently all he wanted. He’s playing the knuckle-draggers like a fiddle.

So of all the people that Trump could have called upon, the various critics in the press and in politics that Trump could have put forth, he went to Gennifer Flowers and we’re supposed to accept that this was “just as bad” as Mark Cuban being invited.

Yeah, no dice, he’s a misogynistic piece of shit, Mike, and you’re never going to wash the stink of this campaign off you. Your contribution to history will be as the answer to a future Jeopardy question.

Trump adviser Gen. Flynn wants to ban Mark Cuban from debate: He’s ‘not a legitimate person’

Donald Trump adviser Gen. Michael Flynn lashed out at Mark Cuban on Sunday, declaring that the anti-Trump billionaire should not be allowed to attend Monday night’s presidential debate because he is “not a legitimate person.”

No, to be a subject of a Jeopardy question, you would have to be notable. The Potent Potables category on Jeopardy is more notable than Mike Pence, other than the Dumpster fire he made of Indiana’s economy with his stupid religious freedom bill.

That is what he will be remembered for, and hitching his star to a fascist. Nothing else he ever did will be part of the public’s memory of him.

The NYT makes a pretty good pro-Clinton endorsement. It’s about her, not about being against Trump and is meant to convince people to vote for her.

His debased right wing followers will be wanting this form of Trump in the debates. They want him to put her in her place (prison) and if he does not they are going to be disappointed.

It is going to be interesting to see if Trump tries to feed his monkeys or tries to sway the people that want him to be presidential…whatever the fuck that means for a guy that is so far from presidential as it gets.

I think Trump has got to be the nervous one no matter how much his handlers try to say he is not preparing all that much he just wants to do the Trump thing. He has created so much “Trump” for himself, can he cover all the bases that want different things from him.

You can be a clown all the way up to the point you really need to cut the clown. Can he cut it?

I still haven’t heard back from the publisher of my local newspaper. He sent an E-mail to the newspaper list asking if the paper was leaning “too liberal” (no).

I wrote back arguing he ought to be concerned about the way that Mr. Trump treats the press, penning them up, arguing for looser standards on the I Amendment freedom of the press, &c.

As Rebecca put it (among other great and hilarious observations):

Donald Trump:Mark Cuban =/= Hillary Clinton:Gennifer Flowers. Instead, the counterpart to Mark Cuban in this analogy (a supposed peer who inveighs against you and endorsed your opponent) would be “a Secretary of State who thinks Hillary Clinton is crap and has endorsed Donald Trump.” Oh whoops there aren’t any of those.

Tel Aviv is not and has never been the capital of Israel. The U.S. & other nations like to pretend it is.

When the State of Israel was set up under the United Nations, Jerusalem was to be an international enclave not part of Israel. They took it by force of arms.

Few nations accept Israel’s fait accompli in the same way few nations accept Russia’s seizure of the Ukraine.

Jerusalem is the capital of Israel only because Israel forced the issue under warfare. The United States does not recognise that seizure of territory under force of arms as legitimate.

I hope this blows up big-time and that that smug Wells Fargo exec that couldn’t react to Warren’s questioning last week gets hammered as part of this lawsuit.

Two former employees filed a $2.6 billion class action lawsuit last week accusing the bank of demoting or ousting workers who failed to meet “unrealistic quotas” that drove other employees to rip off customers.

“Wells Fargo knew that their unreasonable quotas were driving these unethical behaviors that were used to fraudulently increase their stock price and benefit the CEO at the expense of the low level employees,” the suit says.

The lawsuit, filed Thursday in California Superior Court in Los Angeles County, says the bank pressured workers to open 10 accounts daily and punished those who fell short. It accuses Wells Fargo of wrongful termination, unlawful business practice and failure to pay wages and overtime.

Western Jerusalem was always part of Israel and where the seat of government is located, you can split hairs over whether Jerusalem should be re-divided street by street.

Nope. Never part of Israel. They seized Western Jerusalem in warfare.

United Nations General Assembly resolution 181 (II), passed on November 29, 1947, provided for the full territorial internationalisation of Jerusalem: “The City of Jerusalem shall be established as a corpus separatum under a special international regime and shall be administered by the United Nations.”[27] This position was restated in the wake of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War in UN General Assembly Resolution 303(IV) of 1949. According to a 1979 report prepared for and under the guidance of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, it would appear that the United Nations has maintained the principle that the legal status of Jerusalem is that of a corpus separatum.[28]

The United Nations General Assembly does not recognize Israel’s proclamation of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, which is, for example, reflected in the wording of General Assembly Resolution 63/30 of 2009 which states that “any actions taken by Israel, the occupying Power, to impose its laws, jurisdiction and administration on the Holy City of Jerusalem are illegal and therefore null and void and have no validity whatsoever, and calls upon Israel to cease all such illegal and unilateral measures.”[29]

This is all available in the historic record.

Cliff Clavin moment:

The history of the Montmorency tart cherry extends back to ancient Rome.[2] The Romans are credited with discovering this tiny red fruit along the Black Sea in Asia Minor. After Roman legionnaires discovered the tart cherries, they carried them with them and introduced them to the rest of Roman territory. They planted cherry trees alongside Roman roads and soldiers used the fruit for food and the wood to build weapons and repair equipment.

Saying “Sharia law” is like saying “Halachah law” in that both are redundant. They should say “Sharia” or “Islamic law,” either of which would be correct and not redundant. I really wish the bigots would stop being so ignorant, but if they did then they’d probably also stop being bigots.

I would add that if the people constantly fear-mongering over Sharia got even a tiny taste of the sort of Biblical law some Christians would like to impose, they’d be even more terrified of that.

If the cookbook says soak the cherries in kirschwasser, then do it. Something else might make the recipe a flop.

Tomorrow, when Trump lies, Hillary ought to just call out a random number:

Trump: I was always against the Iraq war.
Clinton: Lie number 217.
Trump: I have a very detailed health care plan.
Clinton: Number 36.

It ought to eat him up. When she’s asked, she can just name a few specific ones, and assign them numbers.

You could build a debate machine now. Give it a long list of questions. Have the microphones hooked up to it. Build in a timer and when the timer ends, it cuts off the microphone. You could even build in some basic ability to ask followup questions by having it choose based on clues from the candidates.

Electrodes would be a nice touch.

You know how Blacks can’t eat at lunch counters anymore? COLIN KAEPERNICK’S FAULT!

Colin Kaepernick has unraveled in one month what it took MLK, Jr, Rosa Parks, and true civil rights leaders 60 years to build.

Romney won 59% of the white vote, and I’m pretty sure it was the same group. Another interesting fact is that a higher percentage of whites turned out in 2012 than in 1980. thedailybeast.com

Actually, Romney, like every other GOP nominee in the age of polling, won college educated whites. Trump is currently losing them.

Detroit Local Powers First EV Charging Road in North America The road, about a mile from Local 58's hall, uses rubber-coated copper inductive-charging coils buried under the asphalt that transfer power to a receiver pad attached to a car's underbelly, much like how a phone can be charged wirelessly. ...
