Trump’s Record of Dishonesty Is Unprecedented - but Right Wing Site Hot Air Thinks It’s All Hillary’s Fault

What’s important to the conservative movement
Politics • Views: 49,040

In the past few days, several major newspapers and media websites published articles about Donald Trump’s absolutely stunning and horrifying record of dishonesty. (Finally.)

A Week of Whoppers From Donald Trump
Scope of Trump’s falsehoods unprecedented for a modern presidential candidate
Trump’s week reveals bleak view, dubious statements in ‘alternative universe’
Donald Trump’s Week of Misrepresentations, Exaggerations and Half-Truths

But what does former Breitbart hack Larry O’Connor focus on at the aptly-named Hot Air? He thinks it’s a sinister scheme perpetrated by Hillary Clinton, making the media dance to her evil tune: Where did all those ‘Trump Lies’ articles come from this weekend? The Clinton campaign, of course.

Hillary posts pages of documented Trump lies” and holds a conference call with members of the media detailing the same theme and within 48 hours major publications print articles following along with Hillary’s prescribed narrative.

Yup, total coincidence.

The missing quote is in the original article, but it’s presumably intended to be “documented Trump lies.” O’Connor seems to have no concern at all that the articles are accurate, or that Donald Trump is running for president on a platform of mind-boggling dishonesty. This is the conservative movement in a nutshell, folks; facts, logic, honesty and integrity are meaningless concepts to them, just speed bumps on the road to power.

THIS. Trump’s campaign is thoroughly representative of the Republican party and of movement conservatism. Truth is reduced to personal belief. Public statements are evaluated only according to whether they help or hinder the conservative cause, their lack of factual accuracy being totally irrelevant. On these topics, there isn’t much of a difference between Trump and a typical GOPer, since any adherence to this GOP requires at least magical thinking in politics, and tolerance of (or support for) all forms of bigotry.

In other words, the Trump campaign is what happens when a Hound from Hell answers a half-century of Republican dog-whistling.

More to the point it proves that they want, nay, need to be low information voters. They know they’re wrong, because as I’ve said before being wrong is part of their social compact, the IFF shibboleth they use to identify themselves from the other. They’re genuinely frightened and offended by the mere idea that objective facts be made readily available because it increases the difficulty of maintaining the lie.

Trump’s debate prep sounds a lot like Palin’s (or like a 2nd grader preparing a book report on a book not read)

He prefers spitballing ideas with his team rather than honing them into crisp, two-minute answers …His advisers see it as a waste of time to try to fill his head with facts and figures … Mr. Trump can get bored with both debate preparations and debates themselves.
His advisers have been reinforcing the importance of listening and focusing on every word Mrs. Clinton says and looking for ways to counterattack…deliver the answers you want rather than worrying about directly answering the question.

So fucking pathetic. But I’m sure the media will wet themselves over how presidential he is (I’m looking at you, Andrea Mitchell…)

This period of time will be documented by historians 30-40 years from now as the 2nd Confederacy- this time a national entity based on a white entitlement, a myth-based version of history, and dedicated to the god of quasi-Libertarian Captialism. In reality, modern Russia serves as the closest model to what 35% of overall America wants and about 75-80% of white men want.

They want a (white) strongman to provide easy answers for difficult problems and who behaves boorishly while dressed up in manly (often staged) photo-ops that display a naked appeal to power and wealth. This archetype IS Russia, a country evolved from Communist into a near-lawless power centered around a clan of oligarchs propping up a photo-op strongman. Our right wingers now openly support Putin. They are not afraid to show complete admiration anymore. Any sense of shame is gone.

Trump is everything they like about Putin- Putin is not afraid of behaving badly on the world stage, the primary goal being seen as “strong”, and not concerned with the long term ramifications of his actions. The ends justifies the means in a nutshell. Lies, deception, untruths, disinformation, fake history, are just tools in a toolbox- facts and reality not an aspiration at all. These are just inconveniences at best. The damage being done to Russia is real right now with their economy in the toilet and their infrastructure fraying at the edges- I hope ours does not suffer the same near term with a President Trump.

I think this is why the Republicans are all in for Trump nowadays: He’s senselessly, pathologically cruel.

People disagree about the ideal traits to have in a leader. But almost no one wants a president who has proven himself an addict to being cruel, mean-spirited, and spiteful. For decades, Trump has been deliberately cruel to others, often in the most public ways. He behaves this way flagrantly, showing no sign of shame or reflection.

What kind of person still acts that way at 70? A bad person.

It is that simple.

His supporters genuinely don’t care, because they’ve learned the lessons they’ve been taught over the past few decades, that cruelty is for winners, sociopaths are cool, ha ha suffering lol. We’ve got a vastly larger percentage of the population that’s been encouraged by the media and politicians that they should be psychopaths, and they’re not going to become sane after Trump is defeated. Someone should be working on plans to deal with these people one way or another.

One of the turning points in the civil rights struggles of the 20th century was decent people being horrified at what racists would do to keep Jim Crow in place. Many of these people were genuinely clueless about what was happening.

The movement conservative response to this has been to foster race-based resentments among whites.

The Times will stream the debate live on its home page and will provide real-time analysis from our regular team of reporters on political debates: Maggie Haberman, Nicholas Confessore, Adam Nagourney and Alan Rappeport.

Plus they have 18 area-specific fact-checkers lined up as well as.
Gail Collins, Charles Blow, Paul Krugman, Roger Cohen, J. D. Vance
This cracked me up:

When the debate ends, Donald J. Trump is scheduled to attend an after-party, and Mr. Corasaniti will cover that event live.

IT WILL BE JUST LIKE THE OSCARS!!!

Let’s hope it’s the newly unveiled NYT that calls Trump’s lies what they are and strongly endorsed HRC.

Dude, how fucking racist does someone have to be to discriminate against Asians in Silicon Valley. That shit takes effort.

I guess we should give Thiel some sort of credit, usually his kind of neo-reactionary racist goes out of their way in public to say how much they love and admire asians. At least he disposed of that artifice and went all in on white supremacy.

It doesn’t take effort. Being an asshole never does.

However, it is really stupid to discriminate vs. Asians in silicon valley because the sample size is going to be large enough to get to some really damning statistics. For example, that 1 in a billion chance of the apparently preferential hiring of whites for one position to be a chance effect.

IMO 10 is considerably darker than 6. In 6, a joker-like villain mostly destroys the world. In 10, society falls into a pattern of periodic human sacrifices to stave off disaster precisely by setting up the next iteration of the disaster. This exercise in futility is managed by a corrupt Church whose high officials are mostly undead.

It’s always larded with hemming and hawing, limits and imperfections. That doesn’t play well even with those who are aware of and try to correct for Poe’s Law.

(Of course, another part is that her previous detractors, like the junior Senator from Vermont or most writers for major newspapers, lied when they accused her of corruption, self-dealing and cowardice, but won’t admit it because they think such admissions would reflect badly on them. That really limits the number of people who can take their change of heart seriously.)

Seriously, all the crap about double standards aside, she’s going to come out of this debate just fine. Ever since watching political power player Jeopardy I have zero interest in what any of them say any more.

I hope she wipes the floor with Trump, and that he’s so aware of it he drops out of the fucking race. I don’t trust the voters in this country given the poll numbers.

re: #211 Sionainn

I don’t understand the cartoon, but maybe my daughter will. She just started with the Coding for Girls club at her school and loves it!

Quick explainer:
SQL injection is where you add a SQL statement to a form post - instead of name and address you put in name and ‘select * from table where 1=1’ or something like that. If the code is sloppy and they don’t validate their fields (sanitize their data) for proper input, often times a person can get lucky and get a positive response back, or a dump of table data (CIticard spent $130 million cleaning up after a simple SQL injection released CC data for their customers).

In the comic, a ‘drop table’ command is sent - this is a permanent deletion of all data in said table - funniest one from them since ‘sudo get me a sandwich’…

I dunno, it’s just something I do. Possible? But it’s not colors or tastes or sounds. It’s good versus bad. And like I said, it’s related to digits and vowels only. (Not even numbers with multiple digits, because the individual digits are the weighting factor. So 31 is a lot worse than 24, for example.)

No, it needs to happen. We’d all be a lot better off if Gerald Ford had let Nixon be prosecuted in 1974-75 and the full Watergate conspiracy exposed to the public. And there are likely to be tendrils of Trumpery in many institutions that need to be exposed. Spammers are no fun, though. They just drop their links to crappy phishing websites and run.

I’m thinking I should just shut down everything and skip the debates tonight. I have to get up at 5:00am for a 10:00 meeting up north of Hibbing MN tomorrow. I won’t be getting home until about 7:00 and then I have to leave work early to drive up to Grand Marais for a meeting on Thursday morning. I shouldn’t be winding myself up this evening…

Hoping to see some good fall colors on the trip. It’s supposed to be in the 50’s all day tomorrow.
