In Which Donald Trump Brags About Sexually Assaulting Women

You couldn’t ask for a better demonstration of rape culture

Iframe

Here’s GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump recorded without his knowledge in 2005, boasting about sexually assaulting numerous women while he was married to Melania Trump.

What can I even say about this? Matthew Dowd sums it up quite well.

Donald Trump bragged in vulgar terms about kissing, groping and trying to have sex with women during a 2005 conversation caught on a hot microphone — saying that “when you’re a star, they let you do it” — according to a video obtained by The Washington Post.

The video captures Trump talking with Billy Bush of “Access Hollywood” on a bus with Access Hollywood written across the side. They were arriving on the set of “Days of Our Lives” to tape a segment about Trump’s upcoming cameo on the soap opera.

The tape obtained by the Post includes audio of Bush and Trump’s conversation inside the bus, as well as audio and video once they emerge from it to begin shooting the segment.

In that audio, Trump discusses a failed attempt to seduce a woman, whose full name is not given in the video.

“I moved on her and I failed. I’ll admit it,” Trump is heard saying. It was unclear when the events he was describing took place. The tape was recorded several months after he married his third wife, Melania.

“Whoa,” another voice said.

“I did try and f—- her. She was married,” Trump says.

Won’t affect his support at all. His supporters, religious and otherwise, will never desert him, at least until he loses the election.

The fact that millions of people who claim to be Christians will still vote for Trump next month tells you everything you need to know about why religion in America is dying.

Seriously, the NYT is lazy as fuck. They covered the tax story because it was literally gift wrapped and sent directly to them, but if another paper breaks a story they generally aren’t too interested in giving it proper coverage.

How I know I’m in the South: My wife and I just got delayed by a Police escort for a team of High School Football players heading across town for a game.

And I am talking full on escort with blocking of intersections and everything.

What a waste of resources to make sure a kickoff isn’t a few minutes late…

For entertainment purposes, electionbettingodds.com shows the odds on the Presidential race not just on the national level, but on the state level as well. And in the last hour, Hillary’s made only modest gains on the national level but is surging in the states: she’s pulled nearly even in Arizona and ahead in Iowa, is a nearly 1:2 favorite in Ohio and better than that in North Carolina and Florida, and is up 6-8% in previously dark red states like Texas, Kansas, and Missouri. This is a move pretty close to that from the first debate.

The thing is, Trump does not strike me as the sort of guy who has a mental filter even when he is around women. Why? Because he was born to wealth and has had somebody there to cover for his ass every time he had a misstep, so he’s grown up convinced that he can do no wrong that will be not be fixed by somebody else.

Wrong. From a Freeper:

Trump is an alpha male. For the majority of human histories men like himself could enjoy sexual inter course with multiple , nubilr partners without judgement .

Did anybody tell Ghengis Khan or Julius Caeser they should not be having sex ?

Trump is cut from this cloth of human being . He accepts he is a sinner trying to do good. One of his vices is sex with beautiful woman - as many men of his stature also struggle with .

Now, had you said “No way to reasonably defend it” I’d agree.

Yep. I don’t see how Republicans handwave this away. He’s boasting about sexually assaulting women. He’s also boasting about sexual liaisons with women when he’s married to Melania.

This video will be make it unlikely that Trump brings up President Clinton’s philandering during the remaining two debates.

This alpha-male freeper nonsense is what most conservatives believe, except for that wussy part about it being some kind of ‘sin’.

A big part of how Trump was able to steamroll everyone else in the GOP primary is submission by GOPers to a rich asshole.

And fortunately, as “forgiven” Christians, they don’t even have to worry about the sin part.

It’s sure starting to look like oppo research saved everything until October 1, doesn’t it?

Since the taxes thing, new revelations every day, practically. And no time for Trump to spin it back, or for people to forget.

If this is orchestrated, it may do more than defeat a presidential candidate. The Trump brand ain’t gonna be worth a bucket of cold piss when this is over.

Not as lazy as NBC—it was their fucking tape and the WaPo and Fahrenthold beat them:

According to an NBC source, “Access Hollywood” was working on its own story about the same tape, but as of Friday the story “wasn’t quite finalized.”
NBC News was also preparing to cover the tape, following the lead of the entertainment newsmagazine.

I’m reminded of the rape trials of William Smith and Mike Tyson.

Trump and/or his alter ego/”publicist” would call page 6 reporter Liz Smith and others incessantly to let them know that Mr. Trump, while still technically married, and already carrying on a serious relationship with his mistress, was nonetheless the object of unbridled desire by the most beautiful women on the planet, who he apparently had to beat off with a stick. Madonna was chasing him around like a dog in heat. He was bedding “literally dozens” of models-a different one every day of the week. Kim Bassinger was among his many conquests.

And Carla Bruni-at the time one of the most high-profile supermodels in the world-was pursuing him to the point that restraining orders might end up necessary. Such was the sexual magnetism of “The Donald” in the late 80’s, early 90’s-to hear him publicist John Barron say it.

Of course the fake publicist ruse eventually caught up with him. Page 6 reporters were all too familiar with the voice of Donald Trump, as was Marla Maples who they played the tape for to confirm. And eventually Trump would admit that the story about Carla Bruni was really just a way to get his long suffering mistress jealous

This is a sorry turn of events. Ever since Whitewater and Monica, it has been difficult to discuss political developments with children. Now I’m too embarrassed to use direct quotes when discussing them with my 35 year old daughter.

Who knew that this would be the high point in Trump’s outreach to women:

Seriously, Trump’s misogyny has been on display from day 1 of his run for office. His bigotry has been on display from day 1. It hasn’t matter to the GOP then. It still wont, because Trump is all that stands between HRC and the WH. They are putting party ahead of nation.

Trump is dangerously unprepared to be president. And dangerously unstable. And dangerously lacking in character and judgment.

But the GOP will stand by him anyways.

They deserve to go down for all this. They cultivated the soil from which Trump sprung. They fertilized this ground with all the irrational hate, fear, and ignorance the GOP could muster. They fertilized it with the misogyny, bigotry, and anti semitism resulting in white supremacists and neo Nazis coming out of the woodwork because Trump speaks their language.

Wait, that’s not it. It’s not just Donald J. Trump. It’s Eric Trump and Donald Jr. too. They’re all pushing this agenda. And Gov. Mike Pence too - what with all his anti-women policies, anti LGBT policies, and actually having a legislative record littered with anti-women positions.

But it’s more than that too, since the GOP stands for these same propositions.

Trump’s problem is as it always has been. It’s been opposition to style, not substance.

Now, the GOP faces a true crisis - this is style meeting substance, and everyone notices. And it’ll be interesting how the GOP responds.

That includes Speaker Paul Ryan who is set to appear with Trump tomorrow. Yeah, that’ll be a fun event (all while Ryan calculates that a Trump presidency would give him carte blanche to gut the federal safety net - repeal Obamacare, and enact all manner of vaporware alternatives that promise much and deliver nothing).

This is all on the GOP. All of it. They own this disaster, and it’s up to everyone else to make sure the GOP pays the price.

“I moved on her and I failed. I’ll admit it,” Trump is heard saying. It was unclear when the events he was describing took place. The tape was recorded several months after he married his third wife, Melania.

“Whoa,” another voice said.

“I did try and f—- her. She was married,” Trump says.

Trump continues: “And I moved on her very heavily. In fact, I took her out furniture shopping. She wanted to get some furniture. I said, ‘I’ll show you where they have some nice furniture.’”

“I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn’t get there. And she was married,” Trump says. “Then all of a sudden I see her, she’s now got the big phony tits and everything. She’s totally changed her look.”

At that point in the audio, Trump and Bush appear to notice Arianne Zucker, the actress who is waiting to escort them into the soap opera set.

“Your girl’s hot as s—-, in the purple,” says Bush, who’s now a co-host of NBC’s “Today” show.

“Whoa!” Trump says. “Whoa!”

“I’ve gotta use some tic tacs, just in case I start kissing her,” Trump says.”You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful - I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait.”

I did! 21.5 hours from door to door, but I made it. I ended up flying Madrid to Dallas, then about a 3 hour wait to get home from there last night.

I had not spent a single second thinking about how the hurricane might affect my connection through Miami until I was getting ready for dinner Wednesday evening over there. An hour later I got a text from American that my the flights had been cancelled, thirty minutes later another one telling me they were unable to rebook me.

I am still wiped out today, but feel VERY lucky to have made it home only a bit later than originally planned.

This is the alpha male attraction to Putin. “Women want him, Men want to be like him” bullshit.

Ya know, Trump isn’t nearly 1/10 as sexy as Putin, and Putin isn’t Sean Connery (realizing Sean in the grave).

Sean Connery is still alive.

Mrs. FBW texts that this whole Trump thing has her very upset, not because it’s unexpected that he’d say that sort of thing, but because a guy from whom this is not surprising is viewed as Presidential by so many Americans, in 2016.

I wonder how many people, especially women, are feeling like that?

Even the Mrs. was like holy schneikes.. yeah, the Daily News went there.

She also wondered where the Trump campaign ads were. Typically we see ads in NYC metro from both candidates, even if we know the outcomes are certain (NY, NJ going blue). See plenty of Clinton ads, not a single Trump ad.

For someone claiming to spend $140 million in ads between now and election day, where are these ads being run - especially when he claims that he’s going to take NY (you can’t win NY without winning NYC, which is the most expensive media market in the nation).

Some of that money is going on what I can only suppose are national ads on the NBC Nightly News. Money wasted on us liberals.

Why is politics no longer a clash of value systems, each of which is in some way valid; a competition between basically well-intentioned people who see the world differently?

Why has it become, not even a conflict of interests, but instead a degenerative, brutal struggle for office in which each side with righteous indignation believes only the other is and can be capable of behaving despicably?

THIS. I never heard my father, brother, uncles, etc. say anything even remotely like that.If they had they very likely would’ve been picking their teeth up off the floor, courtesy of my dad.

Heck, I remember one time my older brother refusing to stop picking on me at the dinner table after my dad had told him to cut it out. Dad got out of his chair and grabbed him by the back of his shirt collar, yanking him out of his seat and pinning him about six inches off the floor as he leaned over into his face and very quietly (danger, Will Robinson!) told him, “I said stop it. Do NOT do it again. Do you understand?”

My brother, who was probably around 16 or so at the time, turned kind of green around the gills, giggled, nodded nervously, and squeaked, “Yes, sir.” Dad then lowered him back down to the ground and sat down to finish his supper. I used to fight with my brother all the time as he was 12 years older than me and liked to pick on me, but that time I felt kinda sorry for him.

The religious right will be fine with Trump, for the most part.

They use the “flawed man” thing all the fucking time to excuse sexual assault by male authority figures. Hence their mere blink and “So?” reaction to stuff like the Duggar boy. Ultimately, that is what they think women provoke in men, and that males are wired to do.

ETA:

To be clear, the logic is that any female, regardless of age, is the primary actor by presenting temptation. The man that has all the power—familial, spiritual, economic—is victimized by temptation. And the more important the dude is, the more leeway he will be given in his “lapses.” That’s just how their moral hierarchy works: wrongdoing is gauged relative to power.

It really is that simple and gross.

It’s a stretch to say they’ll be fine with Trump, but they’ll hold their noses and vote for him, because abortion. That’s literally all it comes down to for these goddamn fools.

That’s to be expected, and doesn’t really matter. What seems more significant to me is future conversations between sensible people and lefty abstainers or third party types: “Trump really is that bad. ‘Grab them by the pussy’ bad. How you you justify half-assing your opposition to that?”

I don’t think this is an exaggeration but Trump may just be the worst person ever to seek this office.

Not counting minor-party nutjobs like Bo Gritz of course…Pat Robertson did run as a Republican. William Jennings Bryan may have been just as stupid, but he wasn’t evil, and could speak English. After that, I’ve got nothing.

The comments I’m seeing on right wing forums and comment sections are the usual false equivalencies = OH BILL CLINTON IS A RAPIST AND HILLARY ENABLED HIM FOR 40 YEARS!!!!, and all the idiocy about Trump being an “alpha male,” or that the Wikileaks reveal about Hillary is “ten times worse.”

Trump was bragging about SEXUAL ASSAULT. Whatever Bill is guilty of doing (and of all his accusers, I found Juanita Brodderick to be the most credible…at least before she became a Hannity regular), it doesn’t come within miles of this. It doesn’t.

Trump is a caveman, and his supporters are the real enablers.

Bad Bill isn’t running for President and I suspect that Hillary has privately punished him pretty severely for his misbehavior, just as she is about to very publicly punish Trump.

I got a mailing today about one of our local City Council races, proudly proclaiming that he was the candidate endorsed by the local Republican party. Not that he’s poorer than he’s claimed, but I think he literally only makes money from loans.

Trump loses money profitably.

Why the hell are the white supremacists so concerned with preserving “their people”? It’s good for our species to mingle genetic pools. You want to preserve the human race, you should be encouraged to date people of other nationalities.

Come on, you know the answer. For white nationalists, only whites are people. Everyone else is sub-human.

For me, it’s not that they are backing away from him, it’s what it took to make them do so. When you consider the laundry list of dark shit that Trump has engaged in since last year, if this tape is what it takes for you to decide you can’t continue to support him, then you’re beyond redemption.

It’s grimly amusing to note that McCain is obviously much more interested in the idea that ONLY TRUMP SHOULD BEAR THE CONSEQUENCES than anything else.

Assuming that is who I think it is, she writes hella good Regency romance novels too that are wonderfully pro-feminist while nicely accurate and not being too out-there for the period.

In other words, a whole lot more successful at it than I am.

How can Trump “demonstrate that he has more respect for women than this clip suggests” when he absolutely does NOT respect women; and this clip doesn’t merely suggest—it screams it at a decibel level able to be heard on Mars.

Actually, it wasn’t just Chuck Todd who noted this. It was widely reported - that the GOP was stuck with Trump because of the rules on being able to get on the ballot nationally. If you didn’t have the name on the ballot by X date, you were locked in.

We’re X+37 by now.

Or any business where you’re wearing a wireless mic. Not all sound operators are like me, muting and unmuting different sections of the board based on the active channels. Some guys just unmute the board and let the chips fall where they may.

Because John McCain had to suck up to the forces of evil in the Republican party by making nice with the Bushies that evilly trashed him in the 2000 primary, he thinks every other Republican must also wallow in that filth as well.

All while denying that there’s racist and sexist filth in the Republican party.

re: #271 bratwurst

Welcome home! Rest, relax, and restock those engines.
