I am so thankful this year that I don’t watch TV and can pick and choose when I have to listen to his vileness and I am going to do everything I can to make sure that holds true after the election.
It’s early October. There’s a mountain of vile shit we haven’t seen yet about The Donald’s™ chicanery.
When you put the ball on a tee, it’s awful hard to miss.
Even before this, I was 99.9% convinced that Trump’s humiliation of Alicia Machado was because he tried to hit on her and she shut him down.
Now, I’m 115% convinced. Alicia, we’re ready to believe you if you have something to tell us…
Forget Twitter’s “trending” lists. A much better indication that there’s some hot news: TweetDeck freezes.

Very easy: GOP outrage is in proportion to # of voters they may lose. Blacks? Zero. Hispanics? More. Women? Code Red
— Justin Miller (@justinjm1) October 8, 2016
And yet, the profiles in courage by GOPers is astounding.
Ryan wont have Trump at his appearance, but wont revoke endorsement.
McCain wont unendorse.
On and on it goes. People trying to distance themselves from Trump, but not withdrawing endorsements.
At the end of the day - it’s the endorsements that count. That’s the GOP’s lasting legacy here. The GOP was given the opportunity to do oppo research against Trump in the primaries and failed to do so. They enabled his assent to the nomination. They’ve stood behind him at the highest levels despite clear signs he’s a bigot, misogynist, and anti Semite.
But now, when there’s clear and unequivocal evidence of being a sexual predator??No, we need to distance ourselves, but not too far because we’ll continue with our endorsements.

Make an offer that Obama and Hillary can’t refuse. The GOP is going to owe both a debt of honor for putting Trump down when the GOP couldn’t do it themselves (not that they’re ever going to admit it publicly).

Sorry OT but I need assistance. Last night I had soft tacos (it’ll be 24 hours in an hour) and I woke up at midnight and threw up bad. Then the next hour, and the next hour. I now have a 100.6 fever and have had muscle aches and fatigue all day. Right now I’m laying on the couch reading you guys, watching the baseball etc. I’m sore as hell but I don’t feel awful, just sore and tired. How long will these symptoms last?
So the Republicans are meeting to decide what to do “in case Trump is not our nominee.”
Here’s what to do Republicans—put your head between your knees and kiss your ass goodbye. YOU made him your nominee. YOU endorsed and promoted him. YOU sucked up his insults and degradation. YOU even put the kibosh on the anti-Trump peep at YOUR convention.
YOU OWN IT, Republicans. He’s all yours. And worse, he’s all YOU.

In all seriousness, a day isn’t all that unusual. The fever is pretty high and if it continues much longer, I’d probably go to the ER, but otherwise, stay hydrated and get as much sleep as you can and you should hopefully feel better within a couple of days.

I think the answer is that too many people simply believe what they want to believe, independent of any reality or evidence to the contrary. So when the GOP establishment sold many of the rubes in the US the toxic and stupid idea that their bad prospects were the fault of ‘others’, this false belief was latched onto with fury and desperation that has produced Trump.
re: #100 Belafon
There’s you a constitutional crisis. What happens to a presidential candidate without a running mate? Can he even run at that point?
There’s no Constitutional requirement that a Presidential candidate have a running mate. (Indeed, the Electoral College originally designated the top two candidates to be President and VP… yeah, the 12th Amendment put a quick stop to that.) Besides, he’s still going to be on the ballot, so he’s not actually meaningfully withdrawing anyway. He can just quit, as Bill Weld has publicly considered vis-a-vis Gary Johnson.

Throw them an anvil. The Republicans are mostly mini-Trumps, essentially agreeing with Trump on his awful policy proposals, but more diligent about communicating with the pig-people using dog-whistles and code-speak.
re: #114 Belafon
And the greatest thing for Clinton is that she doesn’t even have to bring it up at the debate.
She should just stroll in with a huge Maine Coon tomcat sitting on her shoulder, and sit down to munch some skittles.

Then ask yourself why the hell you need to go through that kind of exercise to understand why what he said was wrong.
re: #116 thedopefishlives
I’m not even sure she should. If Donald brings it up, I’d hammer him on it, but if I were her, I’d probably leave it alone. He’s just going to get defensive and go on about her “insult-driven campaign”, and why bother with the effort of refuting that? Just don’t even bring it up and let him destroy himself.
I agree. I don’t think she will, and I stick by my earlier statement that if he tries to bring up Bill, she can just point out how he’s trying to blame the wife for the husband’s actions.

One of my clients is in NC. One of their team had a real terrible day yesterday. Her daughter was sick at school, so she had to run out from work to go get her… then after work, she was busy packing up to evacuate. I found out this morning that her husband was stuck in town and is going to have to ride it out. Ugh. I couldn’t imagine living in hurricane country. Then again, they probably wonder how I live in a place where the wind occasionally picks up to 300 miles per hour.

It is long past time to start looking real seriously at those sexual assault allegations at Trump.
Trump’s views on other people have become crystal clear. For him, they fall into three categories:
1) Marks to be swindled.
2) Holes to fuck.
3) Irrelevant.
I don’t want Trump to quit. I want him to be humiliated, along with his enablers, which I consider the entirety of the Republican Party—the Teabaggers, the Christianists, the Nazis, the white supremecists, the xenophobes, the anti-semites, the anti-gay, anti-woman, anti-science, anti-everything gang. You know, THE WHOLE FUCKING BUNCH OF THEM—THE REPUBLICANS.

Sure it is - 2022, *if* (and this is a huge “if”) Democrats can get their act together between now and 2020 to mount 50-state campaigns to retake the state legislatures that will draw the lines for House redistricting.

The next re-districting will be after the 2020 elections, so that being a presidential election year should help Democrats in the state-level elections that matter for re-districting.
I might just end up with a fatal case of schadenfreude if the GOP House Gerrymander flips the House to the Democrats in this election. That’s well within the range of possibilities at this point.

So basically, two dudes (one of whom is running for POTUS) bloviating about pussy ten years ago is a national outrage, but a chick who intimidated the victims of, and covered for, her husband (one of whom is running for POTUS and the other of whom was POTUS) who literally assaulted multiple women sexually for the last 30 years is suddenly a non-issue?

I now have a 100.6 fever and have had muscle aches and fatigue all day. Right now I’m laying on the couch reading you guys, watching the baseball etc. I’m sore as hell but I don’t feel awful, just sore and tired. How long will these symptoms last?
I had that a few years ago after eating some chili mac I left unrefrigerated longer than I should have. Once I threw up (I tried to avoid it as long as possible—don’t do that) I felt a lot better, but was feverish and headachey all the next day. After that I was OK.

If they were all or mostly true believers in GOP propaganda, I think there’d be more signs of this from corporate America. It’s hard to say how the numbers actually break down, but I think a good fraction of these GOP sociopaths are totally indifferent to anything except their marginal tax rates. If they were all or mostly true believers in GOP propaganda, I think there’d be more signs of this from corporate America. There’s a CEO here and there that’s a true believing wingnut, but that seems to be a small fraction of Republican corporate executives.
Then they’re not only sociopaths, but they’re stupid sociopaths.

Told my husband about Trump’s comments and he was horrified. He said that he never engaged in that kind of talk and didn’t hang around other guys who talked like that. If some jackass happened to make a disgusting remark in front of him, he always told them to knock it off, that wasn’t acceptable. So, no. All men don’t do it. Only men who don’t respect women.
