And yet, the profiles in courage by GOPers is astounding.

Ryan wont have Trump at his appearance, but wont revoke endorsement.
McCain wont unendorse.
On and on it goes. People trying to distance themselves from Trump, but not withdrawing endorsements.

At the end of the day - it’s the endorsements that count. That’s the GOP’s lasting legacy here. The GOP was given the opportunity to do oppo research against Trump in the primaries and failed to do so. They enabled his assent to the nomination. They’ve stood behind him at the highest levels despite clear signs he’s a bigot, misogynist, and anti Semite.

But now, when there’s clear and unequivocal evidence of being a sexual predator??No, we need to distance ourselves, but not too far because we’ll continue with our endorsements.

Make an offer that Obama and Hillary can’t refuse. The GOP is going to owe both a debt of honor for putting Trump down when the GOP couldn’t do it themselves (not that they’re ever going to admit it publicly).

So the Republicans are meeting to decide what to do “in case Trump is not our nominee.”

Here’s what to do Republicans—put your head between your knees and kiss your ass goodbye. YOU made him your nominee. YOU endorsed and promoted him. YOU sucked up his insults and degradation. YOU even put the kibosh on the anti-Trump peep at YOUR convention.
YOU OWN IT, Republicans. He’s all yours. And worse, he’s all YOU.

If Pence is really in it to win it in 2020, his best move would be to ragequit from the Trump campaign now.

There’s you a constitutional crisis. What happens to a presidential candidate without a running mate? Can he even run at that point?

The electors can vote for whom they wish unless otherwise constrained by law.

The real crisis would be if someone was elected and they chose not to take an oath of office and serve.

That’s the thing: Even though this election may, if things continue this trend, be one of the biggest landslides since Barry Goldwater, there will still be people and states who vote for him. And I am simply at a loss to explain how people can be that fucking STUPID.

They’ll believe it was fraud even if Trump loses by a Goldwater margin.

I think the answer is that too many people simply believe what they want to believe, independent of any reality or evidence to the contrary. So when the GOP establishment sold many of the rubes in the US the toxic and stupid idea that their bad prospects were the fault of ‘others’, this false belief was latched onto with fury and desperation that has produced Trump.

There’s no Constitutional requirement that a Presidential candidate have a running mate. (Indeed, the Electoral College originally designated the top two candidates to be President and VP… yeah, the 12th Amendment put a quick stop to that.) Besides, he’s still going to be on the ballot, so he’s not actually meaningfully withdrawing anyway. He can just quit, as Bill Weld has publicly considered vis-a-vis Gary Johnson.

Social biology pseudoprofundity is just so fucking creepy and dumb, but it’s especially creepy around sex and gender.

Because at some point it’s all about claiming there’s some Sex MacGuffin where the SAPIENT human woman and her thoughts and feeling can be ignored because of some vague wharblegarble about instincts and ethology models. Which is why they can keep insisting that their theories are perfect even as most women are just like “WTF? No.” …and ultimately why so many of them are okay with sexual assault and rape.

Also, alpha male my sweet ass. Magically pudgy fuckers with no fight are suddenly “alphas” because fundamental lizard-brain ganglions are responsive to monetary standards…because.

My worst private moment is pretty banal: the fact I am an erotic Romance editor in my spare time. That was already known by my whole town when I ran for my village board.

In the event I was running for a major office, the very first thing I would do is hire oppo research on myself, in case I either missed something, or something could be spun in a way that would hurt.

He is now dead meat. Women love their daughters and granddaughters (all of them) and will strike and explain that there will be no access to the hoohoo if their husbands vote for Trump. Anyone who has seen Chiraq knows the deal.
