Yet Another Violent Attack on a Protester at Trump’s North Carolina Rally

As Trump says “great!”
Politics • Views: 46,353

In this video you’ll see one of Trump’s thuggish right wing followers attack, choke and punch a protester, then go back into the crowd receiving high fives from several other audience members as the crowd chants “USA! USA!”

Trump watches this happen and doesn’t say a single word to stop it; in fact he says, “It’s really total disrespect for the American flag. There he is, look, good! Great!”

And yet us evangelicals are supposed to vote for this man, because abortion Supreme Court Justices guns. How blind are we, as Christians, that we can only see our beloved political causes and not the larger reality!

When I first saw the “White Oak” sign in this image out of the corner of my eye, I thought it read “Whites Only”.

It’s an easy mistake.

I am confused. Was the guy beating up the protestor actually waving a rainbow flag? He had on a rainbow shirt, but maybe it means something else to the alt right than it means to us regular folks.

Trump is modeling his rallies along the lines of Pink in The Wall - up against the wall. That one doesn’t look right. That one has spots. If he had his way, he’d have all of them shot.

The more we see, the worse it gets.

This is the state of the GOP in 2016. Openly courting a proto fascist ignoramus who doesn’t care about anything other than self aggrandizement and power.

I think we can dispense with the ‘proto’ here. Trump and his movement are the real deal in terms of fascism.

The Republican party remains proto-fascist until it gets assimilated by the Trumpists (likely) or reforms itself (unlikely).

Normal thing.
Reminds me of when Raul Hilberg was called to testify in the second Zündel trial after being a witness in the first one. As an honest historian, he had changed some of his positions in the meantime, so he didn’t want to be an expert in the second trial because all the Holocaust deniers would be doing is trying to point out inconsistencies.

Moments later the alleged attacker is also ejected as the crowd chants, “Let him stay!” As the homocon passes the camera, somebody asks, “Why did you hit him?” The man responds, “I didn’t.” At that moment you can see that he has a Human Rights Campaign sticker on his Trump hat.

A few weeks ago I posted for several days about Hindu fundamentalists in India and their violence against (alleged) beef eaters (and undesirables such as Dalits.) Fundamentalism tends to run parallels across societies.

Anyway:

Among Donald Trump’s Biggest U.S. Fans: Hindu Nationalists

[…]

But in one of the more peculiar pairings of this most peculiar political season, Mr. Trump has unwittingly fashioned a niche constituency in the overlap between the Indian right and the American right, which share a lot of the same anxieties about terrorism, immigration and the loss of prestige that they believe their leaders have been too slow to reverse.

“There’s a lot of parallels there,” said Shalabh Kumar, the founding chairman of the Republican Hindu Coalition. “Mr. Trump is all about development, development, development; prosperity, prosperity, prosperity; tremendous job growth. And at the same time, he recognizes the need to control the borders.”

[…]

Even I can tell that Hindu fundamentalism is made-up bullshit completely at odds with real Hindu tradition. See if this story sounds familiar: Political conservatives, looking for ways to strengthen their appeal to their voter base, go through Hindu religious materials, designate one deity as the only one worth worshipping, and compile an infallible bible to thump by selecting the most politically convenient material and discarding everything else.

The similarities of this to Wahabbi Islam and to the US religious right are striking.

Of course Trump is a GodEmperor to these nitwits. Trump is a rich asshole, and that makes authoritarian RWNJs tingle in places they can’t talk about. Their deepest fantasy is to be Trump as he presents himself, a modern day Sun King, able to hire and fire lesser people at will.

Since that isn’t going to happen, Trumpists will settle for the next best thing, which is having Trump be a despot to all. A real Trumpist will happily sign up to be stretched on the rack for 10 hours, as long as that liberal over there gets 12 hours on the rack.

And what of Piers Merchant MP, who had so gallantly testified for his chum? In 1997 he and his young mistress, Anna Cox, went to stay for the weekend with Gilberthorpe. Shortly afterwards they were amazed to see quotes from their pillow-talk and photos of them in bed splashed all over the Sunday Mirror. Gilby, it transpired, had fitted out the spare-room with hidden cameras and microphones and shopped his loyal friend to the tabloid for £25,000.

168
Shiplord Kirel  Oct 14, 2016 • 3:34:59pm

Yep. May as well be ready: There is going to be some very serious violence after, and possibly during, the election. Worst probable case would be 2-3 mass casualty incidents like Oklahoma City or the plan just foiled in Kansas, along with several hundred lesser but still lethal assaults.
Beyond that, we could have illegal action by local authorities who are far gone RWNJ. For example, a sovereign sheriff nut might recruit a posse from the local gun churches and try to prevent “theft,” and “fraud” by the Democrats. ie rounding up campaign workers, seizing ballots, etc. Depending on which state this happens in, it could take 24-48 hours for state police and federal marshals to restore order.

So, 20 years or defending the GOP on its misogynistic, bass-ackward agenda is over? You’re done because of this latest scandal with the GOP’s nominee. Trump was the bridge too far.

Gotcha. You didn’t have a problem with Pence when he was all for screwing women seeking legal abortions. You didn’t have a problem with going after the LGBT community and depriving people of access to vote or complaining about what bathroom transgenders should use.

But this is the bridge too far.

Thanks? But no thanks. You enabled the GOP to get to this point. You were part of the problem. You’re part of the reason that Trump became the nominee because the party has spent years peddling irrational hate and fear and bigotry over rationalism and facts.

Denying global warming. Denying the president is legitimate (claiming he’s a foreigner, lacking birth certificate, is a Muslim, etc.). All of it became part of the GOP media machine, which shifted not to the center but to the far right and into the embrace of conspiracy nuts like Alex Jones (who along with Matt Drudge) have sought to mainstream conspiracy theory after conspiracy theory.

This is the Fox News audience. Unhinged. Unbalanced. And ready to take up arms to thwart the lawful exchange of power as set forth in the Constitution from the looks of it in today’s arrests.

Trump accuser says she is leaving country

“We feel the backlash of the Trump supporters. It scares us. It intimidates us. We are in fear of our lives,” she said in an interview Friday with The Palm Beach Post.

McGillivray, 36, has been staying in a hotel in the three days since she told her story to The Palm Beach Post, one of at least four women across the United States who have accused Trump of inappropriately touching them. Trump has denied the accusations, calling them total fabrications.

But she said got a scare Thursday night when she returned to the Palm Springs house she shares with her daughter and stepdad to pick up clothes.

“I look out the window and there are cars just driving around the house and looking, slowing down right at the house,” she said.

but exactly the kind we’ve come to expect.

Among other things, Black served time for Fraud and Obstruction of justice.

Black was convicted in U.S. District Court in Chicago on 13 July 2007. He was sentenced to serve 61/2 years in federal prison and to pay Hollinger $6.1 million, in addition to a fine of US$125,000. Appeals resulted in all the criminal fraud charges being dropped, resulting only in an obstruction of justice charge, and civil penalties from the SEC. In November 2014, settlements were reached resolving all claims. As a result of the initial verdict, he was fined $125,000 and sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison, serving a total of 37 months after two fraud charges were overturned by the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, leaving one fraud charge and one obstruction of justice charge, and the 6 1/2 year sentence was reduced to 42 months.[50] The $6.1 million fine to the SEC was reduced to $4.1 million in 2013

Think she misread it - the brothers aren’t related to the woman as far as I can tell.

She said the publicity has caused friction with her stepfather. It has also driven a wedge into the family of a photographer who was with McGillivray the night of the alleged incident.

The photographer, Ken Davidoff, said he remembers McGillivray pulling him aside moments after the encounter to complain about the alleged groping, which he did not witness. McGillivray never reported the incident to authorities.

Davidoff’s brother, Daryl, said he thinks McGillivray is lying. He is angry at his brother because the publicity is hurting the family’s photography studio, whose clients include Trump supporters.

Ken Davidoff said he received a text from his brother, Daryl, who wrote that he was contacted by a Trump attorney and “I agreed to make a statement, hope they put both of you away.”

“Beyond that, we could have illegal action by local authorities who are far gone RWNJ. For example, a sovereign sheriff nut might recruit a posse from the local gun churches and try to prevent “theft,” and “fraud” by the Democrats. ie rounding up campaign workers, seizing ballots, etc. Depending on which state this happens in, it could take 24-48 hours for state police and federal marshals to restore order.”

This reminds me of Grant County Sheriff, Glenn Palmer. He is on the record as being an anti-government sheriff. I remember he aligned himself with the Bundys and their buddies when they took over the Malheur Refuge. His behavior was so suspect that none of the local law enforcement officials who knew of the FBI plan to arrest the Bundy bunch felt comfortable in informing him of the plan. He is now in hot water with the state law enforcement agency for his close “association” with members of the Bundy group. It is also well known by many in Grant County that Palmer has what could be called a secret group of enforcers who are not legal members of Oregon law enforcement. Palmer seems to think he’s a law unto himself in his county, which classifies him as a member of the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association.

*any* logic that excuses, acknowledges but dismisses, explains…whatever - you are just a pig explaining that there are lots of other pigs in the world

saying there are other pigs doesnt make him not a pig

To elaborate more: what is the clothing discrepancy supposed to prove? Two situations: 1. we assume that we don’t know which account is more credible; in this case the discrepancy doesn’t prove anything either way; 2. we assume her account is more credible; in this case the discrepancy would show his account to be less credible; but since we have already assumed her account to be more credible, we don’t need to prove that his is less credible. So, this “find” is a pretty useless one.

A Nazi-themed Facebook group that called for the “execution” of Jews and African Americans has led to the expulsion of five Boulder, Colorado, high school students in an unusual case of “alt-right” hate speech spreading to teens in a liberal city.

About 15 students participated in a “4th Reich’s Official Group Chat” on Facebook, according to a Boulder police report, which said members discussed “killing all Jews and [N-words]” and encouraged each other to “recruit more members so they can complete their ‘mission’.”

Members wrote messages championing “WHITE POWER!”, posted pictures of guns, called a firearm a “[N-word] BLASTER”, used derogatory terms for gay people, joked about “rape memes”, declared that they “must lynch the [N-words]”, and mocked Mexicans, copies of the group’s chats showed.

True, I just noticed that.

I’m just enjoying a little daydream about one of Trump’s own team punching him in his face. :)

“shorter cnn: if you dont denounce him, you support him”

So many GOPers have, and are, straddling the fence on this one that they have fence marks in their butt cracks They don’t seem to realize that there is no fence-straddling on this issue, or that providing vigorous support for Trump sexually assaulting women is a no-brainer for millions of women when it comes to which candidate they’ll vote for on, or before, November 8. I’m voting on the first day of early voting in GA on Monday, and I definitely won’t be voting for the candidate who has proudly admitted he sexually assaults women, and that he can do it and get away with it because he’s a celebrity.

For the last eight years, all over the country, Republicans have tied their opponents to the President. It is so delicious watching attack ads tying Republicans to the awful things Trump says.

He sounds like he’s really butthurt at getting his turn at the receiving, rather than the dispensing , end of smear campaigns. I have zero f*cks to give about Trump getting what he’s been dishing out his entire life. It’s well past the time he gets to experience what it’s like to be the recipient of ugly sh*t direct at, instead of away, from him.

If you want the political experience of watching “Jessica” by the Allman Brothers live, watch a Trump speech off prompter.

I don’t understand that reference at all. Jessica is a good song and about as far away from craziness as the Bros. could get.

I am going to be interested to see just how much of Sullivan’s history of enabling wingnuts and peddling scientific racism comes up on the show. I am betting that Maher will let him run the old Burkean conservative shell-game one more time.

I’ll have to catch clips or rely on the kindness of strangers, because a) I can’t stomach it and b) my cable just borked so I have to reboot the cable box and I just don’t have the energy.
