Scott Foval, some guy no one has heard of, told Criminal O’Queef on hidden camera that Democrats have been rigging elections for fifty years. For 50 years! Then how come the Democrats haven’t been in the majority for 50 years and won every presidency for the last 50 years. Ooops. Reality wins….again.

It must be that they are as incompetent at rigging elections as Trump is at managing a Presidential campaign!

In a speech in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Monday night, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump drilled down on his new favorite talking point — warnings that the election may be “rigged” against him.

In the speech, Trump alleged that “it is possible” that illegal votes from undocumented immigrants (who, although they pay taxes, are not allowed to vote) may have won President Obama the state of North Carolina in 2008.

“It could have provided the margin of victory,” Trump said.

There’s no credible evidence backing up Trump’s claim. Nonetheless, his campaign is backing him up — with even more misinformation.

In an interview with local Boston radio, Trump’s campaign co-chair Sam Clovis was asked if Trump’s unsubstantiated claims about North Carolina were “irresponsible.” Clovis said that instead, “it raises an issue.”

“I’ve done a lot of work and study in this area, so here’s what happens: you have the opportunity for illegal immigrants to come to the state, and the state loosens its laws to provide for individuals to get drivers licences in the state, illegal or otherwise,” Clovis said. Then, he alleged, once the undocumented immigrants have the photo ID, “what happens sometimes is that you are able to register to vote because you establish residency.”

Clovis’ defense of Trump’s comments is based on a wholly false premise: North Carolina does not allow undocumented immigrants to obtain drivers licences.

Sean Hannity Warns Listeners About The “Globalist Establishment” And “Mind Control”

I am sick and tired of the Republican establishment, and we’re going to deal with this in 21 days. In exactly three weeks from today people go to the polls and we’ll decide our future. But I gotta tell you, there is a corporate establishment, they’re in bed with the Republican establishment, they’re in bed with the Democratic establishment. They are in bed with the globalist establishment. And we have been lied to on a scale, and we have been manipulated on a scale that is frankly, in my opinion, is reminiscent of former Soviet Union propaganda and mind control. That’s how bad I think it is. You know, look at what we discovered, the Politico reporter Glenn Rush, oh isn’t that nice, who identifies himself as a hack for John Podesta. Just please don’t tell anybody I’m a total hack for you. And then WikiLeaks they got all the journalists that dined at the Clinton’s staffer’s homes. Isn’t that nice?

Trump is gonna make the US Government work in new ways!

He has a keen sense people are sick of the government as it is, so he is going to make America better by changing how we do things like term limiting.

It’s easy, just ignore the Constitution. There are only one or two decent Amendments and the original document no one reads anyway.

That’s why he is so loved. No others are willing to take the steps Trump is willing to take to make things Great Again!

Scary, huh.

MICHAEL SAVAGE (HOST): Look, Donald listen, how would you diffuse the situation between now between Russia and the U.S.? Assuming the world doesn’t blow up before January. What would you if you were president, first day, what would you do to stop these war drums?

DONALD TRUMP: Well the problem is Putin has no respect for Obama at all. Doesn’t like him and doesn’t respect him. And Obama doesn’t like Putin. They have a great dislike for each other. And Putin has no respect at all for Obama. And I think that, you have potentially a really catastrophic situation here, I’ll be honest with you. Because those two are not — I will say this, if I win on November 8, and hopefully every one of your listeners is going to go out, we’re going to need everybody.

SAVAGE: Absolutely.

TRUMP: Republicans have a tougher path, you know that, to get there. But, if I win on November 8, I think, I could see myself meeting with Putin and meeting with Russia prior to the start of the administration. I think that would be wise.

As for the cave divers dying, I’ll check ScubaBoard. I’m sure that somebody there knew them, their experience level and skill. Caves are a very dangerous environment, which is why very specialized training, utmost attention to detail and a ‘any diver can abort any dive at any times, no questions asked’ mindset is critical for that community.

I actually do plan on getting the most basic of the 3 cave level certifications, and then see where we want to proceed next.

That statement about Chicago makes it really clear that Drumpfskind is all about blowing whistles, and that is not for winning elections but for other things.

Here is an odd thing about Drumpfskind - he doesn’t really care about results. All his bankruptcies show that. He really is about the moment, living in the present, for him a gilded present but it is still the present nevertheless.

The experience of being adored by thousands standing before him is his drug, his rush. I am convinced that he is now living in semi-reality (of his own making), the ultimate blow-off of a society where narcissism is seen as virtuous.

I’m just going to offer this reminder because I think for a lot of us, as avid politics watchers, it’s easy to forget. It’s easy to forget that the constant fear and worry and negativity takes a toll on us, even as we talk about the role Fox News plays in corrupting those who watch it all the time. It’s easy to forget what constant rage does when the rage is for good and justifiable reasons. It’s easy to forget that we have to remember the humanity of other people even when they’re forgetting our own. It’s easy to forget the need to be both rational and to have compassion for those who are hurting and may not be quite as rational because of personal pain.

Don’t forget to take a step back, breathe, and remind yourself of the good things in this world that we’re all fighting for. Don’t be ashamed of taking the time to make sure your mental and physical health comes first. Breathe, pet a dog, cuddle a cat, create some art, whatever it takes to feel better again before you dive in.

(Or if you’re going to stress, maybe find something non-political to stress about for a day. That’s okay too. This advice still applies.)

Clown Lives Matters cancelled after threat of violence. Thousands of clowns were turned away, and one car.

A rally that was planned to show that clowns aren’t “psycho killers” has been cancelled after the organizers began receiving threats.

‘Clown Lives Matter,’ which organizer Nikki Sinn called, “a peaceful walk,” was scheduled for Saturday evening, when participants planned to march down Fourth Avenue and show that clowns are friendly.

from the article (emphasis mine)

While we can only speculate about what Trump would have said about Smith, we have a pretty good idea of what his father thought of him. The delightful Fred Trump was arrested during a Ku Klux Klan rally in Queens in 1927 when he and some hooded gentlemen of his acquaintance wished to make it known that they considered power and privilege to be reserved for Protestants only. It was bad enough that New York had elected a Catholic governor and that Board of Aldermen was filled with Catholics and Jews. But the newspapers were saying that Smith might be nominated for president the following year. And this was too much for the bigots.
As they did whatever it is that Klansmen do when they gather in solidarity, they also circulated fliers lamenting that “Liberty and Democracy have been trampled upon when native-born Protestant Americans dare to organize to protect one flag, the American flag; one school, the public school; and one language, the English language.” The flier was recitation of grievances sounding very much like the sort of thing you will hear on cable programs hosted, sadly, by men named O’Reilly and Hannity, or lines delivered at a Trump rally as a new generation of embattled true Americans fights off another influx of foreigners.

Saeed Abedini needs to shut the f*** up. He has quite the nerve!

His wife, Naghmeh, did yeoman’s work trying to get him out of Iran. (He was one of the four people who were swapped early this year.) Late last year, she said she couldn’t do it anymore, because she claimed Saeed was verbally abusing her over the phone. When Saeed came back to the USA, Franklin Graham tried to organize a “happy family reunion” in North Carolina, but Naghmeh was having none of it until Saeed saw a counselor to deal with anger issues. (The good “Christians” supporting Saeed thought that couples’ counseling would be sufficient to get Naghmeh back on the straight and narrow, but Naghmeh was having none of that either.) Then it came out that Saeed had pled guilty to misdemeanor domestic assault in Ada County, Idaho, back in 2007 for abusing Naghmeh.

Saeed has still refused to go to individual counseling. Naghmeh has restraining orders concerning the children and the property, but Saeed was charged with three counts of violating those orders. (I suspect he tried to take the three children, but I am not sure.) Oh yeah, and Saeed has filed for divorce. But remember, he’s a protege of Franklin Graham.

Trump is insane, there’s not much question about that. The real question is why would a political party put an obviously mentally ill person at the top of their ticket and cater to his every whim.

Because the GOP long age ditched any attempt at rational policy-making in favor of stoking irrational resentments in its voter base.

I raised my daughter alone after her dad and I divorced when she was five. She, like yourself and your two sisters, turned out fine. What pisses me off about men who say what this guy said is that women raised them even though in some cases, their dads were in the home. I remember when my two younger brothers were born, my dad didn’t change diapers, feed them, or help them with their homework. My mom did those things in addition to paying the bills and handling other things because my dad worked all of the time. He was a good dad, but he wasn’t around to perform the day-to-day responsibilities of running the household. My dad always let my mom know how much he loved and appreciated her, too.

Fashion note from tonight’s State Dinner:

216
freetoken  Oct 18, 2016 • 4:49:26pm

Mentioned IBT downstairs in connection to Newsweek… and my ambivalent feeling about their quality. Anyway, said outlet ran this story:

Voter Fraud In Indiana? State Admits Voter Info Changed On Paper Forms

Well, there’s so much a headline can do, but I for one think it is wrong to claim “voter fraud” when the agent is the state and not the voter.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has said widespread voter fraud is occurring and that his battle with Democrat Hillary Clinton is “rigged” even though there have been no such reports of fraud of date. Until, possibly, Tuesday.

Some Indiana voters have reached out to their secretary of state to decry misinformation on their voter registration, like birth dates or even their first names. The state did not have an immediate explanation for the changes, according to local NBC affiliate WTHR.

[…]

This is just deceptive. It is not “voter fraud” when the Indiana SoS is having problems.

It’s poor governance.

Poor governance under… Pence, the running mate of one Drumpfksind who is whining about “rigged” elections.

Ironic, but subtly twisted by the IBT author.

Later in the article:

However, while Trump cited studies and research from 2012 and 2008’s elections that suggested more than 20 million cases of voter fraud had occurred, other studies have largely debunked those claims.

Politico went and dug in a bit about these claims:

Trump builds on voter fraud claims rated false by fact-checker

Taking fire from all sides for his claim that American democracy is “rigged,” Donald Trump cited academic studies to justify his claims that the country is beset by widespread voter fraud Monday night in Wisconsin.

Rather than prove widespread fraud, the two studies cited by Trump document voter-record management shortfalls on the one hand and suggest that illegal voting by non-citizens is more common than generally understood on the other. While the studies highlight shortcomings in the electoral system, fact-checking site PolitiFact ruled Trump’s claim that the studies illustrate “large scale voter fraud” as “pants on fire” false, the organization’s lowest rating, earlier Monday.

[…]

Politifact notes:

The other piece of evidence offered by the Trump campaign is a 2014 study that says approximately 6.4 percent of noncitizens voted in 2008 and 2.2 percent in 2010. That study has been criticized by election experts for using an unreliable database of Internet respondents.

For that “study” Politifact links to WaPo and the Election Law Blog entry from late Oct 2014. But somebody (ahem…) also Paged about it here at that time:
Academics Ask: Do Non-Citizens Vote in U.S. Elections? (Answer - Yes)
in which I opine:

…you will be beaten over the head with this paper by your local xenophobes.

but I could not have guessed one of those xenophobes would be Drumpfskind.

OUTRAGEOUS OUTRAGE!
Police: DNC bus seen dumping sewage near storm drain

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Police in Lawrenceville have released photos investigators say show a bus chartered by the Democratic National Committee dumping human waste into a storm drain.

It happened around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at 455 Grayson Highway, near where people were waiting in line for early voting in Gwinnett County. According to a police report obtained by FOX 5 News, witnesses at the nearby O’Reilly Auto Parts saw the bus pulled up near a storm drain, someone got out, and opened the sewage drain. The report goes on to state that a large amount of “drying toilet paper” and a “foul smell” was left behind.

AND THE DEMON-RATS HAVE CONFESSED!

“This was an honest mistake and we apologize to the Lawrenceville community for any harm we may have caused. We were unaware of any possible violations and have already taken corrective action with the charter bus company to prevent this from happening again. Furthermore, the DNC will work with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, as well as local and state officials to determine the best course of corrective action.”

This is not cool at all but the Republicans have whole industries devoted to dumping raw sewage into the American political system, and they’ve been at it so long that the stench permeates the whole world.

I just watched a good part of the Veritas video.

Sounds like it would be awfully expensive and awfully difficult to pull off the voter scams they are talking about.

And that is just on the surface.

It really does seem the Veritas guy in the video has already asked about “ways” to cheat the vote and for verification if it could be done. And that is where the video rolls as the Democrat dude starts to talk about how it could be done.*

*And it just sounds like bullshitting about outrageous ways to cheat. Stuff like using rental cars, checks with addresses, having masses of people drive across state lines, etc., etc. And who coordinates all this and where do they find enough people to make all this work? It would take thousands to make a dent.

I found this Boston Globe article from 2015 about Malik Obama. Barack Obama was 25 when he met him for the first time in Kenya. Based on what’s in the article, it appears to me that Malik expected to profit from BO becoming POTUS in some way or another, and when he discovered he couldn’t, he aligned himself with the far right in America and BO became one of his biggest enemies. I see why Trump invited him to tomorrow night’s debate—-they’re both whiners.

Well, the other UKIPers want Farage to distance himself from Drumpfskind, but I have not seen a statement by him to that effect.

UKIP is in chaos right now and I suspect some of them desperately want Farage to come back to lead the party. If that be so, then the last thing they want is for their leader to be soiled by his time with Drumpfskind.

Bill and Opus for 2016!  Oct 18, 2016 • 5:45:50pm

This is actually happening. Texas is now officially a battleground state.

fivethirtyeight.com

Today, we turn to Texas, where two new polls show a tight race: A University of Houston poll has Trump up just 3 percentage points there, while SurveyMonkey puts Trump’s lead at 2 points.
[…]
To put that in perspective, Texas is closer than Pennsylvania right now (where Clinton leads by 7 to 8 points). And Clinton is more likely to win Texas than Trump is to win the election, at least according to the polls-only model, which puts Trump’s overall chances at 12 percent.

Note - although this isn’t in the article itself, both of these polls fall within the margin of error, with University of Houston being at +/- 3 percent, and SurveyMonkey was not calculated, although MoE for them usually is between 3 and 3.5 percent.

I don’t have to check. It’s the same thing they say every time. Same way Bernie was getting those big turnouts at his rallies, because the people going to them didn’t have ‘real jobs’. (of course, that doesn’t apply to the people going to Trump rallies)

Unless the GOP goes through a radical transformation, which I do not think will happen, it will still take decades for TX to turn away from its right-wing politics.

Lots of non-citizen residents don’t translate into votes. Their children born in this country will vote someday.

On the one hand, this sort of disgraceful behavior is unbecoming of Democrats and/or liberals if they are found to have been responsible by the legal authorities.

On the other, Republicans are not in a position to claim any sort of moral superiority when they have stood by and allowed Trump to create the sort of atmosphere that makes such acts seem valid as a form of political opposition.

Two divers found dead after exploring treacherous underwater cave system

I went elsewhere for the news (not giving Fox any traffic) but I need to run this by the housemate, who dives. I’ve heard the name of the place before in conversation.

One stat I remember from housemate’s cave diving class materials was that of the 300+ cave-diving casualties since the beginning of record-keeping, only one was the result of something other than what we’d call negligence (a cave collapse killed a guy underwater about twenty years ago).
