New From Keith Olbermann: The Insane Excuses From Trump’s Surrogates

Politics • Views: 45,970

YouTube

In his latest, Keith calls on GOP leaders to repudiate Trump, and I’d be willing to bet this will never happen unless and until they’re beaten severely in the election. And then, of course, it will be too late.

I suggest all the GOP politicians who supported this horrible human being to the bitter end should have a big T tattooed on their foreheads.

Politics. How does it work?

You mean to tell me that Trump*** or any other GOP candidate didn’t do the same thing? Or that Bernie didn’t meet with bloggers either?

Seriously? Really?

This isn’t news. This is a hit job in the absence of any evidence showing how any other campaign operates.

*** who really knows how Trump operates given that his campaign is so unlike anything ever seen in recent US politics, but it’s perhaps even more informative as to how the incessant stream of leaks by Wikileaks has meant to undermine Clinton. Trump emails and correspondence would probably be even more salacious given how Trump has run through 3 campaign managers, a couple other flacks, and he’s running a half-assed campaign.

An unbelievable shitstorm was waiting for me on Twitter this morning. More than 500 mentions, many of them from raging Wikileaks disciples spewing insults at me. Wheee!

They told me over and over and over that I was a liar, the tweet wasn’t deleted, HAH YOU LOSE! even though my very next tweet in that conversation made it very clear that they had corrected a typo and reposted it. I’m still getting these HAH YOU LIAR YOU LOSE! tweets, even though I posted this twice:

re: #10 MsJ

Wow. That article.

“We had to write ‘ordinary posts’, about making cakes or music tracks we liked, but then every now and then throw in a political post about how the Kiev government is fascist, or that sort of thing,” she said.

Scrolling through one of the LiveJournal accounts she ran, the pattern is clear. There are posts about “Europe’s 20 most beautiful castles” and “signs that show you are dating the wrong girl”, interspersed with political posts about Ukraine or suggesting that the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny is corrupt.

In this attempt to lampoon Barack Obama, the speech balloons read as follows: Hmm, need to think of a password … I’m going to make it ‘my dick’ … Click OK … What? ‘Error: too short’?! Photograph: handout

Instructions for the political posts would come in “technical tasks” that the trolls received each morning, while the non-political posts had to be thought up personally.

The scariest thing is when you talk to your friends and they are repeating the same things you saw in the technical tasks, and you realise that all this is having an effect,” the former worker said.

Anyone have an idea what that cartoon says?

The Foundation couldn’t find anything truly charitable to donate to, but instead decided to dole out funds to the serial liar and propagandist O’Keefe.

I’m sure other Trump Foundation donors (and they’re not named Donald Trump in case you’re wondering) would probably question how/why their donations are being used in this fashion.

My niece, back around the time of the Comey presser on Hillary’ email investigation, said, “But look at this! Doesn’t it bother you?” So I told her the problem is, it’s looking at ONE official, with no context. It may sound bad, but without knowing how everyone else does it, you have no idea whether it’s at all outside the norms.

Same thing here. We learn that the campaign did oppo on Sanders, or maybe considered a particular line of attack. Maybe it sounds bad, but what do all the OTHER campaigns do?

No matter what polls say, I will be nervous until the last ballot is counted. We cannot get any kind of complacency so I actually like to see polls that are showing her down. We need every single person, especially those who are going to have to stand in line for hours, to make sure that they do just that. It’s sick that people have to stand in line for hours, but every single person who doesn’t ticks us closer to a Trump presidency.

Tout this across the entire country. Along with VOTE, VOTE, VOTE. Nothing is in the bag, no matter what poll. Nothing.

I’m not sure that’s true. I think what we might be seeing is the tendency of the big, more reputable firms reporting their weekly polls early in the week, and the last few weeks each batch has been devastating. Later in the week, it’s your Rasmussens, your IBD/TIPP, and such.

The thing is, a GOOD data analyst knows not to exclude any data without a solid reason to do so, or you just end up confirming what you want to believe.

Be sure to read Silver’s long post on how sensitive the “%” are to changes.

When Clinton peaked in the low to middle 90’s she was unlikely to get any higher.

I didn’t see it get to the mid 90’s lately. If it did, it was only briefly. Been in the 80’s, upper 80’s for the last week or so.

re: #72 Belafon

I’m pretty sure that’s due to pollsters like Rasmussen, not wikileaks.

Maybe, but Rasmussen has been on a drift towards Drumpfskind since September, when it had the candidates close to tied. Then Drumpfskind went to +1, now to +2.

Who can really tell what is causing this? Maybe it’s just a random fluctuation.

All the Trumper are fired up to be poll watchers, make sure that unqualified people don’t vote and call Shenanigans all day long. What they seem to be blissfully unaware of is that in most (if not all states) there are specific rules regarding being registered before hand as a watcher, limits on number of watchers by party, what they can and can not do.

It will be glorious when they show up, are denied. It will just feed into the whole RIGGED mindset. My biggest fear is that some of them are going to kick it up to the next level and having failed at the ballot box will turn to the cartridge box.

538 still has her likelihood of winning in the 80’s. It’s gradually risen in the past few weeks. The Now-Cast and the Polls-only are now nearly identical. The difference between the two used to vary a lot earlier in the cycle.

You’d expect that, since the predictive nature of the forecast is such that the closer to the election you get, the lower the uncertainty. Election eve, Forecast = Now-Cast.

I think Trump is trying to encourage people to be pre-poll watchers, as in challenging that black woman before she enters the polling place. Voters are going to have to push through, threatening to call law enforcement, and knowing the numbers to call.

From Charles’ OP:

In his latest, Keith calls on GOP leaders to repudiate Trump, and I’d be willing to bet this will never happen unless and until they’re beaten severely in the election

Sorry, but this will never happen. Ever.

The only lesson the GOP is taking from this election is that we can win with an ignorant racist dirtbag like Trump, but they just have to be more polished.

Look at our currently MIA GOP apologist Dark Falcon. He will keep voting GOP regardless of the ignorant monsters that his party chooses to champion.

This door has been kicked wide open. One shitty economic downturn under a Dem administration and the fucking idiots that populate this country will willingly elect our version of Mussolini or Putin.

It’s a just a matter of when. Thanks to one mentally deranged rich guy, our country will at some point reject the democratic process because they’re scared of their own shadows and we become Oceania.

“You are encouraged not to engage in ‘ballot security’ activities even in your personal, state party or campaign capacity. If you elect to do so, please be aware that the RNC in no way sanctions your activity,” the letter said.

McMullin surging in Utah: Indy candidate’s plan for Electoral College chaos

If this guy spoils the election for Trump, he and Kristol better sleep with one eye open.

If McMullin’s sham candidacy takes the electoral votes of an otherwise solid Republican state away from Trump, the blame for 4 years of Hillary falls squarely on the sleazes behind his candidacy: Mitt Romney, Bill Kristol, and the rest of the #NeverTrump team.

Mormons will need their magic underwear if they cost Trump the election.

McMullin and Johnson both should rub it in by making a gracious concession call to Hillary on election night, when Trump refuses to do so.

Do these people even realize that Clinton doesn’t need UT to get to 270? She’s already likely well over 270 based on her base states plus most of the battlegrounds? That UT is even being talked about shows how much the map has shifted in her favor.

That UT might go for a 3d party candidate shows just how badly Trump has done. It wont change the outcome though.

RCP has Clinton ahead by 6.3 even though they insist on using the idiotic outler LA Times poll which keeps polling the same people over and over for some reason.

The LA times poll is a Daily tracking poll. They are polling the same people over and over again so they can get a picture of how opinions are changing over time. It is a perfectly valid poll that provides useful information about trends. It just probably shouldn’t be in the RCP average.

I don’t know if it has to be a state actor if they got or bought access to a big enough botnet. But, from a network security perspective, these large but not critical attacks are a wakeup call to a bunch of organizations that need to really lock down their shit. So it’s like a vaccine.

If you had a state actor who really wanted to cause damage (privyet Vova!) then they should really be keeping their power dry until they launch a really crippling attack. But our buddies who want to screw shit up seem to have impulse control issues.

Apparently some banning decisions at Facebook go to the very top:

Facebook employees fought to have Donald Trump’s posts removed for hate speech

Donald Trump’s posts on Facebook were flagged by users and employees for qualifying as hate speech, employees told The Wall Street Journal. In an article published Friday, it was revealed Facebook employees wanted the Republican candidate’s posts pulled from the site, but CEO Mark Zuckerberg ultimately ruled against their removal, saying it would send the wrong message to censor a presidential candidate.

The discussion began when Trump posted a link on Dec. 7, 2015, to a campaign statement that called for “preventing Muslim immigration.” Zuckerberg ruled later that month not to remove the post, even as some employees complained that the decision amounted to a special exception for Trump:

sorry i gotta disagree (and be repetitive)
at this stage, short of some epic disaster, changing course, righting the ship, etc will not make a horse race. way too little way too late

it might change the popular and electoral margins, the “mandate” and the down ballot.

Trump wants everything he’s said during the campaign excluded from Trump University trial

It makes sense to exclude much of this material. As a general rule, only evidence that is relevant to the case and more probative than prejudicial can be admitted. It’s hard to see how the Access Hollywood video, his criticism of Hillary Clinton’s Syria policy, or his tweets about CNN are relevant to this fraud trial.

Nevertheless, Trump’s lawyers are concerned that, should Trump’s conduct during the campaign be introduced at trial, it would constitute improper “character evidence” about “wrongs” perpetrated by Trump.

But the motion is also almost certainly overbroad. At times, Trump has directly addressed the Trump University fraud trial — not only to attack Judge Curiel, but also to comment on the facts of the case. These comments would be relevant to the case, both to establish the facts of what happened and to rebut conflicting claims made at trial.

Okay, if Trump and Giuliani fans ever ask for an example of what WE would consider probable cause:

Woman Walking With Human Skull on Stick Leads Sacramento Police to Decomposed Body

Police in Sacramento launched a death investigation Wednesday after spotting a woman walking down the sidewalk with a human skull perched on a stick.

“There was a transient female walking down the 2900 block of Connie Drive. She actually had a skull in her possession,” Sacramento police Sgt. Bryce Heinlein told KTLA sister station KTXL.

Officers confronted the woman at an abandoned house on Connie Drive where their investigation began, the Sacramento-area television station reported.

“A call like this is not something that happens every day. We hope we can get down to the bottom of what caused this person to become deceased,” Heinlein said. “She brought the officers to the area where she located the skull.”

Police found the human remains at an abandoned homeless encampment a couple blocks away.

Source Code for IoT Botnet ‘Mirai’ Released — Krebs on Security:

The source code that powers the “Internet of Things” (IoT) botnet responsible for launching the historically large distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack against KrebsOnSecurity last month has been publicly released, virtually guaranteeing that the Internet will soon be flooded with attacks from many new botnets powered by insecure routers, IP cameras, digital video recorders and other easily hackable devices.

The leak of the source code was announced Friday on the English-language hacking community Hackforums. The malware, dubbed “Mirai,” spreads to vulnerable devices by continuously scanning the Internet for IoT systems protected by factory default or hard-coded usernames and passwords.

I started a tweet storm follow my tweet above about Schilling… Democrats have been Israel’s strongest supporters since Israel was founded. The smears against Obama and Clinton don’t reflect history, including the largest military aid deal signed just this year between the Obama Admin and Israel.

We’ve seen Reagan try to force Israel into giving up settlements over loan guarantee freezes. We saw GHWB try to force a deal at Madrid. We saw Nixon try to leverage/realpolitik Israel during the Yom Kippur War. Etc.

There’s also lots of legacy building by presidents at the end of their terms, to try and get a peace deal. Curiously, Obama isn’t going that route, even though one would expect him to at least try. My guess is he’s either not bothering, or figures that you create better conditions with backchannels approach that led to the Oslo breakthrough.

If you’ll recall back to the unrest in Milwaukee this summer.
Police officer in Sherman Park shooting charged with sexual assault

The Milwaukee police officer who fatally shot Sylville Smith in the Sherman Park neighborhood in August sat in a bar a day later, watching coverage of the violent unrest that followed and said he did “whatever (he) wanted without repercussions,” according to a criminal complaint released Thursday charging the officer with sexual assault.

Officer Dominique Heaggan-Brown made those comments to a man Heaggan-Brown would sexually assault hours later after the man became heavily intoxicated, the complaint said.

Heaggan-Brown, 24, is charged with two counts of felony second-degree sexual assault, and two counts of prostitution, a misdemeanor. He also is charged with one felony count of possessing or distributing a recording of nudity without consent.

After the alleged assault on Aug. 14, Heaggan-Brown texted police Sgt. Joseph Hall, whom he considered a mentor: “Need your help big time … (expletive) up big time … but need to handle this the most secret and right way possible,” according to the complaint.

I still believe that settlements are just housing. It can be bought/sold and people can ultimately be moved. The issue for Israel is that they’ve seen what happened after Gaza, and how withdrawing unilaterally didn’t improve security (ultimately resulting in the rocket wars). That’s a huge burden to overcome for them. Palestinians have to see Israel do more in easing their burdens and make life easier for them. West Bank is a different situation, and there’s far more security cooperation between Israel and Fatah (also owing to fact that there are a/b/c areas of responsibility for how security and civil administration takes place.

It might take another generation, but they may end up figuring out how to make it work. Then again, Israeli and Palestinian leaders are relying on the status quo to remain in power, and aren’t exactly keen on changing things.

Also, 2-state isn’t possible as long as Hamas remains in the picture and in control of Gaza. Rather, we’d be seeing a 3-state solution. Hamas in Gaza and a Palestinian state in the West Bank.

I love technology, and I refuse to set my house up so it can be unlocked remotely.

We got a new garage door back in January but didn’t get a new opener. They pushed, because “you can control the new ones with your phone” which is an absolute deal breaker for mr. klys.

Israel is still seizing lands and building settlements without end or restrictions, as well as making things increasingly intolerable Civil Rights-wise for Palestinians. And sometimes, just being needlessly cruel, like when they cut off water during Ramadan this year.

There is literally no evidence that Israel will give up the smallest sliver of land, instead they “putting facts on the ground” to justify seizing more and more land.

I will freely admit that I am not neutral, as my Imam is from Palestine, along with some of my friends, and that my only significant interaction with Israelis was when a Pro-Israeli Group on campus called the police on an MSA meeting at OU.

Damn skippy! I have seen a Comcast ad showing someone remotely unlocking their door, changing the thermostat settings, etc. Not for the FBW family! I prefer my locks and my watches to be mechanical.

If you want to live in an alternative reality where Israel DIDN’T give up all land in the Sinai AND all of Gaza, go right ahead.

In the real world, the outlook for a two state solution is not good at all, but CERTAINLY not dead.

That would have sounded good if you hadn’t advocated something between apartheid and ethnic cleansing for an ethnic group just a few days ago, which is worse than what Israel does to the Palestinians (which is pretty bad).

Obama received the Israel Prize, and personally attended the funeral of Shimon Peres. The wingnuts had nothing to say about this but they would have lost their feces if Biden represented the USA (as is usually the case)

“What, I can just take my skull out for a walk? I THOUGHT THIS WAS AMERICA!!!”

I spent an entire summer when I was 9 or 10 years old walking around with a human femur as a stick or toy. One end of it was rusty reddish.

I recognized what it was, years later in anthropology class. It was red ochre which was often part of Native American burials. I picked it up at, get this, Skeleton Park, one block from my house on the edge of a bluff overlooking the Ohio.

I practically lived with that stick but no one noticed or had a clue.

When we moved into our house, the glass back door had a double-key deadbolt. In a glass door. The kind of thing where the owner is likely to lose the key, and a burglar would just smash out the rest of the glass, if he couldn’t unlock the deadbolt.

I don’t think it’s Dyn as a company they’re targeting - they’re attacking Dyn because they’re one of the largest DNS providers, and the hackers can cause massive havoc by shutting them down.

In the aftermath of our threat for a proportional response to the DNC hack, is this the counter punch? Or maybe NK again given those tensions.

I’m worried that the “poll watchers” will show up strapped in open-carry states and try to interfere with people waiting outside to vote.
