In Which Sean Hannity Goes Full-Out Racist Against President Obama

“I’ll pay for you to go to Kenya”
Politics • Views: 41,596

Media Matters

Can we just dispense with rationalizations and tip-toeing around?

When someone like Sean Hannity tells the first black President of the United States he’d like to see him go back to Africa, that, folks, is racism. Pure and simple.

Sure, he tried to cover himself against this accusation by surrounding his “go back to Africa” air horn with mentions of Canada and Indonesia. Almost as if he knew he’d be inviting accusations of racism by saying something like this.

But trust me — Donald Trump’s followers and the Fox News audience knew exactly what he was saying here.

SEAN HANNITY (HOST): I have an offer for the president. I will charter a plane for you and your family. I will make sure it’s as big a plane as Air Force One, what you have grownaccustom to, in other words. Taxpayer-funded plane. I don’t know where I’m going to get it. Maybe I’ll ask Trump if I can charter his plane for Obama. I will charter Donald Trump’s plane if he’ll let me, and I will charter it to the country of your choice. You want to go to Canada? I’ll pay for you to go to Canada. You want to go to Kenya? I’ll pay for you to go to Kenya. Jakarta, where you went to school back in the day, you can go back there. Anywhere you want to go. I’ll put the finest food, caviar, champagne, you name it. I have one stipulation, you can’t come back.

The moon prison. Yes. Hannity is a perfect candidate for the moon prison. And The Donald™ as well.

Hannity and the sun have something in common: both are large masses of hot gas.

They also have a major difference: the sun is bright.

I made a bet once, that eventually ended with me shaving my head at a monthly staff meeting (I didn’t mind at all, it meant the trainers where I worked had met an incredibly high standard for a month). The fact that he has constantly weaseled out of his acceptance to be waterboarded, with Keith Olbermann offering to pay 1000 buck for each second Hannity lasted is just one more reason for me to have no respect for him at all.

FWIW, my autocorrect wants to change Hannity to Humanity. There is NO Humanity in that man.

re: #20 MsJ

BOO!!! 😞

In 2003 (the Chinese zodiac’s Year of the Goat), a group of Cubs fans headed to Houston with a billy goat named “Virgil Homer” and attempted to gain entrance to Minute Maid Park, home of the Astros, division rivals of the Cubs at the time.[14] After they were denied entrance, they unfurled a scroll, read a verse and proclaimed they were “reversing the curse.” The Cubs won the division that year and then came within five outs of playing in the World Series, but were undone by the Florida Marlins’ eight-run rally immediately following the Steve Bartman incident. The Cubs then lost the following game and with it the series. (The Marlins went on to win the World Series against the New York Yankees). Further salting the wound, the Astros earned their first World Series berth two years later and their crosstown rival the Chicago White Sox won the series. Wikipedia - Curse of the Billy Goat

My son, who flew to Cleveland for tonight’s game, was the one of the fans. He’s the one who bought the goat and named it. Brought it back to Chicago and then donated it to a farm.

And damn, Indians just scored again. :-(

She hasn’t earned my respect. She only took them on after Mr. Trump attacked her. Moreover, she worked for FOX News for years building this. She is as much a part of it as any of them, and she refuses to repudiate working for FOX.

I see her no differently now than a Republican who is still in that party. It doesn’t matter if they repudiate Mr. Trump, they are still in the fascist party. Megyn Kelly is still in the fascist network.

Because, as far as their viewers are concerned, the country has 40% unemployment, no healthcare that keeps going up at 25% every year, and the stock market is worse than it was under Bush. And $2 gas is more expensive than the $4 gas under Bush.

George Clinton: Vote Hillary because Trump is not funky

Sure, Donald Trump built a real estate empire.

But George Clinton of Parliament Funkadelic has built an empire of funk and he has this to say: “No funk in da’ Trump.”

Clinton, the musical impresario who founded P-Funk in a barbershop in Plainfield, supports Hillary Clinton (no relation!) for president and is strong in his opposition to Trump.

“He couldn’t possibly be in there (the White House), beyond no circumstances, I don’t care,” Clinton said. “I’m for her and that’s just cut and dry. You have to say something about that and he ain’t qualified for that, he’s just no way.”

I’m back. I can’t get diddly on the radio (AM, FM, shortwave). It would appear that Major League Baseball has an iron-clad contract with FOX Sports, and FOX Sports Radio wants to talk about “evul Hillray Clinton” rather than sports.

The FOX contract goes to 2023. I can’t afford to move.

I think you can get it streamed through the At-Bat app (of course that’s a $20 fee, but I already paid for mine for the season for my team….).

You must have either a credit card or PayPal account. I have neither. Credit cards are not accepted here except for businesses along the Interstate sixty miles away, and I don’t care to bolster Peter Theil’s stock portfolio (or keep money on the Internet at all).

Face it, this part of the country doesn’t exist (after all, coastal liberals call us “fly over country” as if no one lives here or their food magically appears in grocery stores).

No one is interested in marketing here.

Maybe that will change as Hillary Clinton did make one campaign stop in my state (420 miles away). I’m not betting on it: the Democratic Party doesn’t even try to run here (that’s why my ballot was almost entirely blank when I turned it in today as I will not vote for the Fascist Party and that is all that is represented here except for me - quite literally: I am the only elected Democrat in any position in the entire Panhandle.)

Yeah, that’s just weird. Usually if they say it isn’t required, you don’t have to put it in. Obviously, I wouldn’t put it in if it’s required, because that’s basically guaranteeing that they’ll charge you as soon as the trial ends. I’m paranoid about not getting burned by those sorts of setups; I make sure that I cancel well before the end of the free trial unless it’s a service I intend to pay for.

So one can download the Google data.

There are 28219 respondents.

But US elections are decided state by state.

For Iowa, for example, there were 538 respondents. This leads to a “margin of error” that is quite a bit large than implied by the aggregate. Google reports the moe for the aggregate, but that is misleading. Also, there is no demographic information other than geography, gender, and age group. We really don’t know who is being under-sampled and who are being oversampled.

re: #177 freetoken

There are only 117 respondents from WY. How can that be useful for a WY analysis?

Also, 538 is giving Google consumer surveys too high a grade, if this is how Google does its polling.

There are only 500,000 people in all of Wyoming. Even in its two major cities, Democrats do not have a chance on the ballot (much like here).

If you were to drive through Wyoming as I do, all you see are campaign signs from Republicans. The Democratic Party in Wyoming is deader than the Republicans in California.

As for polling, looking at one poll is a good way to develop ulcers.

Sam Wang’s histogram of possible outcomes is much more satisfying to look at:

Someone pointed out that, losing the election would only be the beginning of bad stuff for Trump.

Trump is facing a rape trial, a fraud trial, election law investigations, dwindling occupancy rates at his branded hotels, a likely IRS investigation, probable “tell all” articles and books about his campaign, and I’m sure I’m missing something else. It’s so hard to keep up.

Our sheriff here is involved (along with the Bayard City Police) in a brutal murder here that occurred in Angora (population 1). It is the first murder in this county since 1936, when I asked the county prosecutor about it in an interview I did for a journal article I wrote.

And Sam Wang has this:

As of October 25, 8:06PM EDT:

Clinton Nov. win probability: random drift 96%, Bayesian 98%

I gotta ask, though it might seem unfeeling: Was the population 1 before or after the murder?

The murdered person was from Colorado.

The crime was apparently drug related: The woman who lives in Angora called the sheriff to report someone had torched a Beetle in town.

The sheriff found the Beetle was missing a passenger seat.

A couple days later, a rancher in Bayard found an oil drum on the North Platte River and thought it would be a good burn barrel. He hauled it out of the river and opened it, and found a body stuffed inside.

The car belonged to a woman who lived outside Angora; she’d reported it stolen. Her boyfriend was the suspect in that theft.

A few days later, the Cheyenne police pulled over a fellow for speeding there; after running his license they found he was wanted for the theft here in Nebraska. They arrested him and shipped him back to Bridgeport (where he is from and our county seat). He was then charged for the auto theft, the arson, and the murder. His trial is supposed to start in a few weeks.

I never do the free trial stuff. For me it has always been much more trouble than it’s worth to cancel them.

Indeed. From a commenter back at Naked Capitalism about a month ago regarding a hard of soft Brexit:

What does ‘hard’ or ‘soft’ Brexit mean? BBC. Vlade:

Looks more and more like UK gov’t is in a gambling mood. “[…] initial goal once Britain has left the EU, another option is to apply to ‘grandfather’ the present trade arrangements with Europe (that is the free movement of goods, services and capital) and then see what the EU’s response is.

“Would EU member states really start applying tariffs unilaterally, the question in Whitehall is asked, in the knowledge that the UK would respond in kind.”

a) it’s not about tariffs (which they still don’t seem to get)
b) it’s not about EU member states, it’s about EU rules. The guys at the borders would have no choice but to stop the UK shipments and run them through the normal non-EU goods procedures.
c) basically they are betting that EU would allow en-masse breakage of rules because of the UK - because if the rules-of-origin, rules-and-regulations compliance go out of window for UK trade, then anyone can use this lever.

So the govt it’s a bit like Nazis taking small steps in Europe, betting that no-one is willing to compromise (trade) peace even if it means throwing all sorts of rules and laws under the bus. What the UK govt still fails to understand is that yes, the UK is an important trade partner for EU, but EU is VITAL trade partner for the UK (as in when 40% of your exports stop overnight, your economy dies).
I cringe at the idiocy of the people in power.

…and d) They seem to truly believe that negotiations are best conducted by putting a knife at someone’s throat.

I’m afraid they will find their knife is made of rubber, and that that someone is a 500 pound gorilla with a steel bicycle chain in hand.

And that just the trade bit-the whole free movement of people and people filing for British residency has thrown a HUGE spanner in the works.

I really don’t need a physical device that I can press to get an automatic order sent to Amazon for more laundry detergent.

Yet.

re: #257 Anymouse

Seems to me I can go into town, fork over a few Ameros at the local grocery store, and come home with laundry detergent or cat litter a lot more quickly than ordering something with this “dash button” (and I don’t need a credit card).

Until the big box store twenty miles away kills the local grocery store, and then Amazon kills the big box store.

Well, Felix Randomkitty’s checkup at the vet showed his feline equivalent of an A1C test is still too high, so the vet increased his insulin dose by 50%.

The vet is much happier though from the first time she saw Felix. The way she spoke to us about his diagnosis about diabetes seemed to me that when she gives that diagnosis, pet owners have their pet put down. (She really doesn’t like doing that.)

We went instead with “how do we give insulin shots.”

Our vet is very happy to see us (and Felix): Felix is family around here and diabetes is not a reason for us to have him killed by the vet.

BBC: The First American wins the prestigious Man Booker Prize

Paul Beatty has become the first US author to win the Man Booker Prize with his racial satire The Sellout.
His novel tells the story of a young black man who tries to reinstate slavery and racial segregation in a suburb of Los Angeles.
Amanda Foreman, chair of the judges, said the book managed “to eviscerate every social taboo”.
Beatty’s win was announced at a ceremony at London’s Guildhall on Tuesday.
Picking up the £50,000 prize from the Duchess of Cornwall, Beatty, 54, was clearly overwhelmed with emotion and struggled for words as he began his acceptance speech.
“I hate writing,” he admitted later in the speech.
“This is a hard book,” he went on. “It was a hard for me to write, I know it’s hard to read. Everyone’s coming at it from different angles.”

(FWIW, BBC World Service is the only thing I listen to in my car when I drive locally.)

K-Mart in Scottsbluff (sixty miles away) is going out of business. The nearest Wal*Mart is also sixty miles away. No big box stores anywhere around us (not enough people to put one in).

Our K-Mart was one of the ones they announced they were closing last month (I believe that was when). They are literally selling EVERYTHING in the store, including all the store fixtures. Our local Sears isn’t doing well either, and it’s one of the anchor stores for the Mall. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them go in the next year or so.

The K-Mart in Scottsbluff is a stand-alone store.

Monument Mall in Scottsbluff is resurging: the mall was dying, but an investor from out-of-state came in and put in a whole bunch of money into an upgrade. What was a dying mall with few stores is now vibrant and every store rented.

Roger Stone, still trying to fuck that rat….

Stone’s group created an official-looking ID badge for its volunteers to wear, and its volunteers planned to videotape voters and conduct fake “exit polls,” efforts that election experts say risks intimidating and confusing voters. Or at least that’s what the group was planning to do before The Huffington Post asked Stone about it on Tuesday. The controversial Trump ally, long known for his bare-knuckled political tactics, said that key proposals on his group’s websites were there without his knowledge, and assured HuffPost that he would operate within the confines of election law.

I’d like to start a web site called ‘Watch Roger Stone,’ getting people to constantly Tweet his whereabouts. See how he’d like it.

Russia and China fear Clinton, because she plays hardball internationally. Trump, OTOH, is easily manipulated, because he’s predictably volatile and stupid at the same time. He talks like he’s a hard negotiator, which he may be in business situations, but his knowledge of geopolitics is nil and he’d end up giving our two main rivals almost everything they want.

Judging from this article at Esquire, Trump has some occupancy problems at Trump Tower, too.

esquire.com

We overnighted in Chicago last week ahead of a flight to do about a 72 hour whirlwind stay in Beijing. Took an architectural river cruise on the Chicago River the afternoon we arrived and floated by the Trump Tower there. ALL the commercial space from the river line to the plaza was vacant.

By the way, Beijing was amazing. We stayed in the Opposite House, rode motorcycle sidecars to the Summer Palace and then a remote part of the Wall. Second day, did the square, Forbidden City and ate weird stuff in the Hutongs.

You made the right choice visiting a remote part of the Wall. The closest spot to Beijing in Badaling is easy to get to by city bus, but also the most crowded nearly year round.

The hutongs are Old Beijing, and I really like them. Development was threatening their survival, but preservationists have managed to convince city fathers that the hutongs need to be preserved for historical and commercial reasons.

Oh, man, listening to that trial must have been brutal. (Not as brutal as being the axe murder victim, but still.)

The guy who got killed was the meanest man in the County. Just a nasty bastard. The site of the murder was a homeless camp out near Lakeway. The dead guy would routinely flash a Buck knife to show who was boss. Drunken night, an argument, and the perp had enough, and lashed out with an axe when the victim pulled the knife on him.

Pitiful case, actually. The killer had a DUI on his file, but no history of violence.

He got 25 years. I pushed as hard as I could for a shorter sentence, but it’s Texas.

What I don’t get is if Hillary is doing so much better among all of these groups than democrats usually do how is the race still within 5 points or so? She is doing better among college grads, latinos, white women, Trump is ahead with white men but I think not as much as Romney was, so where is he making it up?

538’s polls only model has Clinton up by six points, nearly three points better than Obama beat Romney by, so Trump isn’t making it up anywhere.
