TIL Curt Schilling has a collection of Nazi uniforms and other paraphernalia:

boston.com

And he supports Trump.

I’m sure the two things are completely unrelated.

A woman loses her son in a tragic incident, and Trump’s first inclination is to say that he tried to get with her, but failed.

Seriously, where do you go from there. That indeed speaks volumes about Trump’s insufferable self-image, ego, and stunning lack of empathy. There’s no other way to put it.

Then again, the GOP suffers from these same traits - a lack of empathy being chief among them. That’s why they think that the way to make America great is to give the rich tax cuts, and to cut services to everyone else. Bootstraps, people. That’s how to make America great.

I voted early yesterday. It took no more than ten minutes because I was there as soon as the election commission opened at 8 a.m. I voted a straight Democratic ticket. It all felt really good.

If Shilling hadn’t turned out to be such a raging douchecanoe, I could probably let this pass. I can understand being interested in history, and in WWII in particular, and it’s probably better that those sorts of items end up in someone’s private collection rather than in the hands of actual nazis.* But he’s been such a turd sandwich the last few years, that I don’t really feel like he deserves the benefit of the doubt anymore.

*I occasionally go to some antique flea markets around Southern California. There always seems to be at least one booth that has some WWII era German knives, and it’s always off putting. The other thing I see a lot of is Jim Crow era “white’s only/colored” signs - those can be rather jarring too.
