At a public “Get Out The Early Vote” event in the Raleigh area, President Obama will urge North Carolinians to take advantage of one-stop early voting and lay out his support for Clinton and her vision of an America that is stronger together, with an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top.

OK, this is trivial, and I know all politicians do it, and I love this president, but if it’s a hot enough day to take off your jacket and roll up your sleeves, isn’t it hot enough to open your collar and ditch the damn tie too?

6pm - also the time when Lisa Bloom’s client comes forward publicly to attest to fact that Trump raped her while she was still a minor (aka a child).

To say that this raises all kinds of questions is an understatement. We know Trump’s got longstanding ties to Jeffrey Epstein, and that the rape allegedly occurred at one of Epstein’s events.

To come forward publicly claiming that you were raped as a minor by the GOP nominee for President is unprecedented. This woman is going to get a shitstorm directed her way, which shows that she’s willing to endure that to get her day in court. Of course, there’ll be people claiming why she didn’t come forward sooner or why there wasn’t a criminal case (as though women are willing to endure the public humiliation of having their lives torn apart yet again as part of various investigations, and reluctance by law enforcement to investigate/prosecute these cases). There’s a stacked deck against women who seek justice for being sexually assaulted - and the handful of bogus claims makes those valid claims even tougher.

I fully expect Trump to turn around and claim that the Clintons were the ones to rape her. He wont even be specific whether it was Bill or Hillary.

I think both he and Michelle took the whole Trump birther bullshit as a personal attack and they are now giving back.

“The coverage of this upcoming election is unlike anything we have seen before, not to mention the fact that one of the nominees for president has been making false allegations about the integrity of Philadelphia’s elections for weeks now, but we are ready,” Williams said. “The Election Fraud Task Force is ready to respond to whatever happens on Nov. 8 and I want to make sure each and every Philadelphian who has a concern or is experiencing difficulty casting their ballot calls us.”

The task force operates every election, and often investigates complaints by voters, poll workers, and poll watchers in the many hundreds of divisions that are the ground-floor units of the city’s political apparatus.

It is made up of 70 assistant district attorneys and several dozen county detectives. Williams said any of his office’s 300 assistant DAs are available to respond to court complaints filed. Typical Election Day allegations include illegal voting, candidate write-in issues, refusal of election boards to recognize poll watcher certificates, intimidation and illegal electioneering.

She, too, is planning to vote for Trump.
“I understand that Trump is a terrible person,” she said. “Everyone does. We’re not that stupid, and we know he’s out to con us. But people around here are angry. We’re so angry we want to be conned. And maybe while he’s destroying the planet, he’ll wipe out my student debt, too. Get it?”

So why bother with the press conference in the first place? Oh well. I completely sympathize with the victim. She shouldn’t be forced to go public.

The media wouldn’t pay any attention to it anyway. I feel sorry for the victim, but the media just doesn’t care and she would be putting herself in more danger for nothing.

Melania Trump to make rare appearance for her husband

WASHINGTON

Donald Trump’s wife, Melania, will deliver her first speech since the Republican National Convention on Thursday as the campaign steps up its efforts in battleground states.

Melania Trump, who has largely kept a low profile after delivering a convention speech that contained portions of an earlier Michelle Obama speech, will talk in Berwyn, Pa., about her life with Donald Trump and her life in Slovenia, where she grew up, campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said.

Man Claiming to Be Bill Clinton’s Son Asks Monica Lewinsky for Former President’s DNA

[…]

“I deserve to know who I am,” he told insideedition.com. “I feel in my whole heart he is my father. I am [Hillary Clinton’s] stepson, and Chelsea’s stepbrother. I’m their only son in the world.”

[…]

Star magazine confirmed with a DNA test in 1999 that Williams is not the biological son of Clinton. Williams, however, said he continues to dispute the results since he claims the publication only ran one of the two possible DNA tests available.

First off, there are more that two “possible DNA tests” available.

Secondly, Bill Clinton like many Southerners comes from a long line of Americans with big families. This guy who thinks he’s Bill’s son could take tests like 23andMe or AncestryDNA, each are just $99, and find plenty of cousins. If this guy is indeed Bill’s son, he should show up as not too distant cousins to the many cousins of Bill who are already tested. It would take some research to make sure how he is connected to those people, but it’s done everyday, as we see in those TV shows which reunite adoptees with birth families.

Sure does one thing…it builds a huge DNA database. Just think how well that would work out for law enforcement.

There are some stories, mostly scare stories, floating around the internet for that. Ancestry pulled (from public perusal) one of its old databases of tests (before the current product they offer) which it had procured from an independent group, because it was used wrongly.

A court can issue a search warrant of course and allow some law enforcement agency to search a database. That’s just part of life.

At least here in the US the GINA keeps DNA tests from being used for employment and health insurance. Many countries don’t even have that kind of law on the books though.

A new effort was announced last month to help identify remains of military members:

Parabon(r) Seeks Volunteers for DNA Kinship Study to Help Identify Fallen Soldiers from Past Conflicts

Note that they cannot tap into existing AncestryDNA and 23andMe databases, but will need to collect DNA anew.

I would not think that Ancestry would meet the legal standards for chain of custody in court.
But, I would suspect that they could get a subpoena to test such a sample against evidence in hand, and use a match to obtain a warrant for a DNA sample from a suspect.

Fewer quality polls.

A model to really work well needs state-by-state polling, and with 50 states, that’s a lot of expenses.

The different candidacies across the country pay for this polling (e.g., a Senate candidate will conducts polls in that state) but that stuff isn’t shared publicly.

I’m still in mourning for Vin Scully. He was the last of the best who didn’t do this, because people cared a lot more about Scully than the Dodgers so he got away with it. Called the whole game by himself, too. No “color” announcer or “field” interviewer with him. He could call an entire game even if no one was playing.

I’ve tried to watch SF Giants games, but every time there’s a pitching change they do a Jiffy Lube ad. I think there’s an advertiser for everything.

Pitcher wipes his brow, there’s an ad for that. Stolen base, each base has its own ad, with a super ad if it’s a two bagger or more.

It isn’t enough that they run a constant stream of advertising on the ticker below the screen.

So, nothing personal. I just hate what’s happened to baseball.

Forget to run spell check one time? “You’re not what we’re looking for.”

Unreal…

The last few years, I’ve kept telling myself to give less of myself to my jobs — I work my tail off, just to have them throw me aside for no reason, not just once, but pretty much every goddamn time. Only problem is I don’t think I could do otherwise.

I was first. A couple of years later, my mom took the test and they matched her as my mom.
A year later, my brother’s test results were matched to me as my brother.
Last year my niece was matched as my niece.

MrBWS was matched with a bunch of cousins that we could verify using his very detailed family tree that goes back to the 1600s.

I bet somebody somewhere who tried the same thing found out mom was a cheater or a liar and Dad wasn’t really their dad….

Or Dad was the cheater and there’s a surprise half-sibling…
