Photo of the Morning: Donald Trump Peeking at Melania’s Ballot

Politics • Views: 42,631

A control freak to his very core, making sure his wife isn’t voting for Hillary, no doubt.

I’m not sure about New York’s election laws, but in some states this would actually be illegal.

UPDATE at 11/8/16 10:00:04 am by Charles Johnson

Apparently, being a control freak runs in the family.

Here’s the NYS Election Law (current version).

Article 17 deals with crimes/violations.

17-130(7) seems to be on point:

Enters a voting booth with any voter or remains in a voting booth while it is occupied by any voter, or opens the door of a voting booth when the same is occupied by a voter, with the intent to watch such a voter while engaged in the preparation of his ballot, except as authorized by this chapter; or,

Growing up, we had mechanical voting machines that were booths with drapes that pulled shut. I don’t get why they allow this particular style of machine to be used, but Trump’s actions would seemingly violate the spirit of the law. Same with Junior’s actions.

UPDATE:
17-130(10) is the provision that prohibits taking selfies of the ballot:

Shows his ballot after it is prepared for voting, to any person so as to reveal the contents, or solicits a voter to show the same;

This is a desperate gambit. They’re upset that turnout is high and hoping they can inspire their supporters to instigate some kind of violence at the end of the day that disenfranchises urban voters waiting in line.

Alright, got my blood work done (damn vampires) hit the gym, ate breakfast and showered then hit the polls. I was in and out in under 10 minutes and my polling place serves multiple precincts. While it’s great to see such high turnout it shouldn’t take anyone longer than it takes me to vote.

Kind of hate when they have multiple precincts in the same polling place. Makes it harder to target voting literature with different congressmen being voted for, etc. Ended up just talking up Van Hollen for Senate. Couldn’t go wrong there.

He writes: “At the height of my fame, Reno was the only state prosecutor who didn’t come after 2 Live Crew for singing explicit lyrics when every law enforcement official in the state wanted to throw our asses in jail. In fact, she defended our first amendment right to be as nasty as we wanted to be.”

Luke also reflects on the track he produced for his cousin’s rap group Anquette called ‘Janet Reno’. “[It] was a big hit with single black moms from Overtown to Opa-Locka. Black dads knew if they didn’t pay their child support,” he writes. “Reno would throw them in jail. And she had zero tolerance for indiscriminate killing. If you murdered an innocent person, you were getting life in prison. Reno knew how to deal with the problems in the African American community. As a result, she was the only white lady who commanded the full respect of black Miami.

I did my time with the standard abusive, controlling people. One of whom is a professionally diagnosed subclinical psychopath….my father. So, let’s just say I have some experience with this genre of humanity.

From the very beginning of this whole Trump Slog Into Hell, my skin has been CRAWLING with every single action and phrase and lie and con. I….know…these…patterns. My spidey-senses have been screaming and I reached the point where I could not hear his voice. Not because I’m afraid of him…I have no fear of the Walking Orange Ego Compensation. But I had a hell of a lot of fear that people were so clueless, so stupid, that they could make this thing president.

I have said this 100 times but i will NEVER forgive or forget the Republicans and other people who in any way supported Trump. Ever. And I am incredibly relieved that after today I will never have to fear him taking over this whole damn COUNTRY.

And I will enjoy tremendously every bit of his impotent bluster and flailing when he loses. You have no idea, my people.

Yep. Otherwise known as Kinkakuji. It was absolutely SWARMING with school groups but like I said, I may have thought it opened at 8 instead of 9 and so we got there at 8:30 and were close to the front of the line. Very close. Which is why there are no people on the path to the right, because they weren’t allowing people to go down that way yet.

I won’t be the obnoxious political ass I was in high school here but I am glad that I have the ability to vote. If you know me, you know where my heart is. Voting isn’t just about being able to choose our leaders, it’s about being able to choose our future whether that’s who represents us in government or where we want our tax dollars spent. Candidates aren’t always what we want but I’m fond of saying that I don’t even agree with myself 100% because I’m constantly learning more about the world around me.

Closing times for the polls on Friday night ranged between 7 and 9 p.m. depending on the location. But Joe Gloria, Clark County’s voter registrar, said county workers allowed anyone in line to vote, even if they showed up after the scheduled closing time.

“I would be doing a disservice to them if I didn’t allow them to vote during the early voting period. The whole point (of early voting) is to allow more access to voters,” Gloria said. “If they’re in line after the closing time, we process their vote.”

Under Nevada law, there was nothing wrong with that.

State law spells out a minimum time frame for early voting polls to be open, but doesn’t lay out specific closing procedures to follow.

If you’re still in that area of Japan and your schedule is flexible (JR Pass for the win!) I recommend you drop by Onomichi for a day or so. It’s my favourite Japanese small-town, lots of temples but not Kyoto-style, manicured to perfection and full of tourists. It’s on the Sanyo shinkansen but I use the regular JR line from either Mishima or Okayama since that puts you directly on the shorefront. There’s an amazing knife and sharp-objects shop in the covered ichibangai just to the east of the station entrance.

The JR Rail Pass was my life saver.

Although it sucks to go to Japan right now due to the near parity exchange rate. When I went it was 125Y to 1 USD!!!

David Booth, the Republican clerk of Precinct 23, tells NBC 6 he was one of the two clerks fired and told to leave the property. Replacement clerks have been brought in.

According to Booth, there were allegations poll watchers were overstepping their boundaries inside the polling location and involved in voter intimidation.

Broward sheriff deputies told NBC 6 they showed up upon request to keep the peace and investigate the situation

It’s a bit like the Floating Gate (O-Torii) in Miyajima just off the coast of Hiroshima. There are lots of moody early-morning and late-evening pictures of it because any other time of the day it’s surrounded by foreign tourists wearing flip-flops and shorts, dropping litter and eating Momiji Manju cookies.

Hey, I resemble that remark. (Except for the flip flops, shorts, and litter dropping.)

The GOP’s hypocrisy when it comes to “constitutionalism” is breathtaking. And it really does come down to only the 2nd Amendment being sacrosanct.

What really cracks me up about this “Fraud in Philly” nonsense is that conservatives can’t understand how mostly black neighborhoods are refusing to support Republicans.

I took my truck in to the dealer for a recall/repair thing and while in the waiting room had to listen to a dude on the phone talking politics with a pal. It was “common core bad and welfare cheating and we should break Chicago off from the rest of the state so our money would stay here and make the crime rate go down by 90%. All my office voted for Trump and yadda yadda…”
A dealer guy came in and asked him where the key for the locking lug nuts was and he said “oh shit I don’t know”. He got up and left to help look. I hope it is at home under the sofa cushions.
Came back and took MrsJ to go vote. No line at our rural township voting place:

At 9 p.m., Hillary Clinton could have enough electoral votes for victory if she takes all the states where she is expected to win, every one of the six competitive states that finish voting by that hour and Maine’s Second Congressional District. The six states are Arizona, Florida, Georgia, New Hampshire, North Carolina and Ohio.
