So again revisiting thread upstairs: Has this ever happened between a President (elect) and the media before? Is there any sense in which this can be considered “normal” in any loose interpretation of the word?

I’m feeling pretty beat down today.

Story after story of corruption emanating from the highest office in the country, while the people who are supposed to be reporting on this stuff gather for a nice little sitdown with this son of a bitch.

How the hell do we fight this? I’m at a loss here.

Worth noting, for perspective, that their tsunami warning scale has another level that hasn’t been invoked. (Major tsunami warning.)

They’re taking this seriously, as they should, but this is not on the scale of 3/11. The world is not going to end. For most places, the forecasted arrival time has been gone by.

Damn….

Tsunami warnings have been posted, and this is likely to strike near the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant. Currently, there are 100s of storage tanks holding radioactive water that has been used to cool the damaged reactors, and it’s too soon to know if any of those tanks were damaged by this quake.

Also, I understand that the breakwater has been expanded, but not sure the extent to which it was done. The original breakwater was insufficiently high to protect against tsunami risk.

I never really got a clear definition of the term, but I know they’re sort of intentionally vague.

Defining generations is always hard because you never really have a bright line. Most say Millennials are people born in the early-80s through the mid(ish)-90s, possibly even early aughts.

I was born in ‘78 and consider myself a Gen-Xer, but I probably have more in common with older Millennials than I do with older Gen-Xers.

I was chuckling yesterday, went to an antique swap meet and heard some old (white) woman saying something about how this generation all get trophies for showing up and how it’s bull. I’ve heard the same thing from my folks, a few times. I pointed out that when I was a kid, we got trophies even if we came in last place (my dad was always a coach and didn’t remember this). I also pointed out that there’s a sign at my niece’s softball fields reminding parents that “it’s just a game” and that “there’s no scholarship on the line” and mentioned that signs like that and “everyone gets a trophy” is because their generation had to be fucking crazy about their kids winning.

The Democratic Party shouldn’t pull a Trump by nominating Tulsi Gabbard.

They won’t.

Hell, I’d cut the cord altogether and make sure that none of those networks get any reverse compensation through our cable fees.

Already? Honestly I’m not impressed with her. I do gotta love though how Clinton gets shit for not always being pro SSM when Gabbard was not only hostile to gay marriage by LGBT rights for a long time. I mean I do give her credit since she seems to have done a 180 and sponsored and co-sponsored a lot of legislation. But she also attacked the Iranian deal. She’s probably low on my list on who I’d support in 2020. I really like Senators Duckworth and Booekr of the names I’ve seen floated. I like Warren too but not sure if she’s presidential material.

She spoke at our state convention a few years ago, and there was something about her that sparked my spidy sense. Really creeped me out, but I can’t remember exactly why. (Tim Scott and one other local politician give me the same creepy feeling when I’m in the same room with them.)

Remember, there were a bunch of Berners who wanted her to be Bernie’s VP pick. Doubt it ever would have happened, but many of them lurved them some Tulsi a few months ago.

Oh. My.

If you’ve seen Star Trek Beyond, remember the sequence as they are returning to Yorktown Station? Now imagine this version of the song then…

It’d be nice if the tsunami wasn’t a big one.

Richard Spencer is an anti-Semitic dickhead, but when I look up that quote all of the other sources say he was referring to political pundits with that quote. Although I wouldn’t put it past him to question the humanness of Jews.

“…The order was handed down by District Judge Barbara Crabb, appointed by Jimmy Carter, and Circuit Judge Kenneth Ripple, appointed by Ronald Reagan, who wrote the decision. District Judge William Griesbach, appointed by George W. Bush, dissented.

The three judges found that Act 43, which carved out new districts for the state Assembly, was written to hurt Democrats.

“It is clear that the drafters got what they intended to get. There is no question that Act 43 was designed to make it more difficult for Democrats, compared with Republicans, to translate their votes into seats,” Ripple wrote…”

I don’t give a crap who said it or what they were referencing - they shouldn’t be getting air time anyway - I’m more pissed at CNN for letting the question sit there on hundreds of thousands of screens the way they did.

I am just not impressed and the only reason why the Berners like her is because she endorsed Bernie. That’s not a reason to like someone. Point of reference, I really like Keith Ellison and really hope that they’re not supporting him simply because of htat. He brings more to the table than just that.
