For Trump’s Head of Veteran Affairs: Are You Ready for the Return of Sarah Palin?

Caribou Barbie’s comeback
Politics • Views: 44,513

All the worst dim-witted far right goblins you thought you’d seen the last of are coming back onto the stage for the Trump administration. Today we learn that the Rage Cheeto is considering for secretary of Veteran Affairs… none other than failed reality star and half-term Alaska governor Sarah Palin.

It’s going to keep getting worse for a long time, folks.

The only thing Donald Trump ever said that was true was that if more people voted for Hillary, Goldman Sachs would be running the White House.

Is it wrong for me to wish that she fails horribly at her job right out of the gate? (Albeit with as little collateral damage as possible)

She needs a comeuppance of epochal proportions.

No doubt Trump will tout how many women that he’s picked so far in his cabinet/inner circle:

Nikki Haley (no experience and nominated for Ambassador to UN)
Elaine Chao (experienced, but awful as DOL under GWB)
Betsy DeVos (billionaire who wants to gut public education).

Palin’s experience, or lack thereof, doesn’t matter to Trump.

If Palin gets her hands on the VA, all the worst problems the agency has had over the past 8 years will seem like child’s play in retrospect. Watch for the GOP to outsource, privatize, and reduce benefits/coverages to veterans, especially at a time when they’re most needed as more Gulf War (I and II) and Afghanistan vets require more assistance/treatment - both for physical ailments and mental health.

Watch the GOP slash mental health treatment in particular.

Palin claims that her son has PTSD to explain away why he beat up his girlfriend and other various legal infractions. And then sent him off to some sort of Christian pray away the PTSD place in Arizona, and now calls him a PTSD counselor.
And then there’s that MoH son-in-law that she bought for Bristol…

Bannon is working on his “destroy the Government/democracy” project. Each new pick will continue to be the most disastrous possible, because Bannon wants disaster, and Trump is either on board with that, too dumb to see it, or more likely just doesn’t give a single shit.

Since this is a Palin thread, I figure any topic is okay…so I started watching WestWorld on HBO last night. There’s some significant suspension of disbelief involved, but I do like where the show appears to be headed. Going to give it a few more episodes in the coming days…try not to catch up before the end of the season. That’s one downside of on-demand. You can burn through an entire series in a few days.

TRUMP TO STEP AWAY FROM MAKING HIS BUSINESSES BANKRUPT TO FOCUS ON BANKRUPTING COUNTRY

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—President-elect Donald J. Trump will no longer have day-to-day responsibility for driving his businesses into bankruptcy and will instead focus on bankrupting the country, one of his leading surrogates said on Wednesday.

Appearing on Fox News, Kellyanne Conway said that while Trump no doubt could “plunge both his businesses and the country into bankruptcy at the same time,” he feels that he “owes it to the American people to put them first.”

Trump is definitely on board with this. He conned 60 million into voting for him and willingly has Bannon’s consul.

Which makes him even more dangerous considering he’s mentally ill and poised to suffer a horrific nervous breakdown while in office… if his poor health doesn’t get to him first.

The late senator Daniel Moynihan said: “Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts.” In the age of social media, that is no longer true. For the likes of Mr Trump, Ms Le Pen and Mr Putin, anything can be labelled “true”. In this climate, against a backdrop of economic, social and physical insecurity, extremism flourishes.

A climate created, in this country at least, by people listening to their fears rather than reality, and electing people that take the opportunity to give more money to the rich, further weakening education and the safety net.

Was just wondering where you were. How was Thanksgiving?

Other than a few hours of my brother and banshee SIL spewing, it was great. Things I learned Thanksgiving Day:

Elizabeth Warren is the most horrible person on the planet (SIL)
Obama caused all the racial problems in the country (brother, white-splaining things to black nephew)
Barney Frank still to blame for all economic woes ever after (brother)
Obama hates all cops and was the founder of Black Lives Matter (brother, causing his daughter’s eyes to roll back in her head)

But, talk about cognitive dissonance—brother loves John Oliver—credits him for convincing bro not to vote for Gary Johnson. But then voted for trump (causing his son’s head to spin 360 degrees and consider changing his name.)

Other than that, the whole week was fun—had to get up at 2:45 this morning to catch my flight home today. Tired.

I bet Trump’s first Presidential Pardon is in the bag. And Trump voters will continue to yawn at the abject lack of any morality or ethics of this administration.

We must remember than we are dealing with a character whose main attribute is that of a Sociopath. Every policy decision and appointment Trump makes is not for the good of the country, it is about 1) making himself look strong and correct. 2) giving a big huge middle finger to everyone who has opposed him.

This means fellow mainstream Republicans, all Democrats, all Liberals, and mostly everyone but about 25-35% of the country. A pardon for this Trump campaigner will (in his mind) absolve any crime without any sense of guilt because it was to promote Trump- a goal to be achieved by any means necessary. And every pick of Trump to inhabit his cabinet Has been to achieve goals 1 and 2 listed above. From Bannon to a possible Palin, it is all about sticking it to most of America.

Trump told everybody what he was, multiple times. You should have been paying attention, Joe.

She clutched him to her bosom, “You’re so beautiful, ” she cried
“But if I hadn’t brought you in by now you might have died”
She stroked his pretty skin again and kissed and held him tight
Instead of saying thanks, the snake gave her a vicious bite
“Take me in, tender woman
Take me in, for heaven’s sake
Take me in, tender woman, ” sighed the snake
“I saved you, ” cried the woman
“And you’ve bitten me, but why?
You know your bite is poisonous and now I’m going to die”
“Oh shut up, silly woman, ” said the reptile with a grin
“You knew damn well I was a snake before you took me in
“Take me in, tender woman

What is turkey dip?

Well, four cups shredded leftover turkey
1 1/2 cup mayo
1 cup shredded coconut
1/2 tsp allspice
Mix, chill & serve on crackers. I’ve always preferred Ritz

Just a nummy little treat that is comfort food during times like these.

I can’t believe I’m gaming out 25th Amendment Section 4 scenarios, but this is what happens when Donald fucking Trump wins the presidency.

Here’s what I see so far:

Sessions at DOJ, Price at HHS, DeVos at Education, Chao at Transportation, Mnuchin at Treasury, Ross at Commerce, and (now, apparently) Palin at VA.

I can see Pence, Sessions, and Chao signing off on a Section 4 declaration. Mnuchin and DeVos are probably too loyal to Trump. I don’t know about Price or Ross. I’m also guessing Palin wouldn’t get on board unless there was something in it for her.

But here’s the other thing, I’m wondering about. So, let’s say the Cabinet sends Congress a Section 4 declaration. Trump then sends a declaration saying he’s fit, and before the Cabinet can respond (and thus triggering the Congressional debate), Trump tries to fire the “betraying” Cabinet members. They refuse to resign, send the second declaration and now we are potentially facing a full blown constitutional crisis. And the nation turns its eyes to Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell.

Is Barack Obama a brilliant orator, captivating millions through his eloquence? Or is he deliberately using the techniques of neurolinguistic programming (NLP), a covert form of hypnosis developed by Milton Erickson, M.D.?aapsonline.org

While AAPS describes itself as “non-partisan”,[12] the organization is generally recognized as politically conservative or ultra-conservative.[9][13][14] The AAPS opposed the Social Security Act of 1965 which established Medicare and Medicaid, arguing that “the effect of the law is evil and participation in carrying out its provisions is, in our opinion, immoral”,[15] and encouraged member physicians to boycott Medicare and Medicaid.[16] AAPS argues that individuals should purchase medical care directly from doctors, and that there is no right to medical care.[17] The organization requires its members to sign a “declaration of independence” pledging that they will not work with Medicare, Medicaid, or even private insurance companies.[18]

AAPS opposes mandated evidence-based medicine and practice guidelines, criticizing them as a usurpation of physician autonomy and a fascist merger of state and corporate power driven by the pharmaceutical industry.[19] AAPS also opposes abortion[20] and over-the-counter access to emergency contraception.[21] AAPS also opposes electronic medical records[18] as well as any “direct or de facto supervision or control over the practice of medicine by federal officers or employees.”[22]

On October 25, 2008 the AAPS website published an editorial implying that Barack Obama was using Neuro-linguistic Programming, “a covert form of hypnosis”, to coerce people to vote for him in his 2008 presidential campaign.[23][24]

And where does the money come from to pay for the ER visits of those uninsured folks?

It’s amazing that back only a decade ago, the plan that became Obamacare was broadly acceptable to Republicans, with folks like Jim DeMint touting it as the way to solve the healthcare crisis - which at that time wasn’t as bad as it got by 2010, when the ACA passed.

And here we are, 6 years later, and it’s become ‘acceptable’ to just go back to what had been a ‘crisis’ before.

I don’t know if we’re getting more Conservative as a country, but we sure are getting stupider.

Palin running Veteran Affairs?

I don’t know enough curses, imprecations, and arcane oaths to fully express my feelings about this.

Just shoot me now.

Is there any way to look at a site, say Breitbart for instance, without giving them a “click”?

Thanks in advance.

You can search for them on Google, then click the little green triangle next to the name of the site and view the cached version.

Is it wrong to point out the United States has had many racist presidents before (most of them) and yet still functioned? But under your incoming president-elect, it’s looking bye-bye for functional.

Honestly, I think the mostly likely outcome is some massive theft (kleptocracy and the gutting of business regulations that actually protected people), leading to a necessary and massive economic decline, a la Kansas.

On the plus side, I’ve long wanted the US to pull out from most of its military positions internationally. I doubt your country will be able to afford them in eight years or so.

(Sorry to be so gloomy. I long thought Obama would break the right-wing fever. But now I suspect our biological failings as humans put irrational spasms of feelings ahead of rational analysis, eventually dooming the whole enterprise).

Raw Story is hyperventilating again. It’s easy to turn off emergency text messages on your phone. They’re not “unblockable.”

I tried that.

My Samsung Galaxy 7 says “Presidential alerts are mandatory and cannot be turned off.”

Problem is, presidential alerts are unblockable:

There is one caveat, though: there is currently no way to turn off the presidential alerts.

(Not that I disagree it’s hyperventilating; but technically they’re right.)

Well, Sarah Palin running the VA might just be another diversion from the Trump/Pence Bannon/Spencer Republican neo-Nazi White House.

That said, the VA actually might dodge a bullet here, after she quits halfway through a term.

That said, I don’t want Governor Grifter within fifty miles of a VA office.
