Ironic as the Chinese initially wanted him to win; now they have to deal with their chickens coming to roost.

Be careful what you wish for.

As a long-time Ohioan who has known Johnny K for a long time (friends went to school with him. Parents of friends promoted his first Congressional run etc.) I crack up to hear him described as a moderate and not so bad. I’ll give him that he’s smart and knows how government works, but he’s a nasty, vindictive piece of work, and the last person I would ever call moderate.

There’s a bunch over at kos who are singing his praises and pushing for the “Hamilton Electors” to push him through to save the day. Barf.

re: #5 Myron Falwell (no relation)

Here’s the thing about the Electoral College. Let’s say 38 Electors pledged to Trump decide not to vote for him (or even 37, leaving him at 269 electors) - if they don’t all vote for Clinton, the election gets thrown to Congress. The Senate chooses the VP among the two highest vote getters in the College (assuming the Republican Electors don’t all vote for Pence). The House, voting by state, picks the president from the three highest vote getters in the College. So, if there’s no alternative to Trump for some state delegations to vote for (I’m looking at you, Utah), then that’s probably how they’ll vote. But if enough electors vote for Pence or Kaisch, or whoever… We could avoid the unmitigated disaster of a Trump presidency, and instead deal with someone who is, as Kristol said of Clinton “wrong within normal parameters.”

Trump could cause a 10000 point drop in the Dow, have unemployment rise to 12%, and start 3 wars and the GOP would claim this is the best administration since, well, forever.

A paperweight? A conversation piece? A work of art? It’s up to you, but this smooth Los Angeles-area stone—wrapped in rich, vegetable-tanned American leather secured by sturdy contrast whipstitching—is sure to draw attention wherever it rests. A traditional hardening process gives the leather a beautiful ombré effect. Like all Made Solid leather pieces, this one is cut, shaped, sewn and finished by hand in artist Peter Maxwell’s Los Angeles studio. Using vintage leatherworking tools and traditional saddle-stitching techniques, Maxwell aims to create beautiful designs that embody both simplicity and functionality, and that develop rich character and patina over time.

Nobody named as a possible member of the Trump administration is wrong within the normal parameters. Hell, few if any of his voters are wrong within the normal parameters. But then again, “normal” is a relative term, not an absolute one. All these people would have fit right in back in Germany circa 1933-1945, or in the Bible Belt South at any time since Tara was in blueprints, or in any number of very ugly places during very ugly times.

I’d bet dollars to donuts that if Pence tried something stupid like a national version of his fetus funeral bill, the moment he got push back, he’d drop it and just return to lip service on the issue. That tends to happen a lot with Republican presidents.
