Oops! Newt Gingrich Reveals Trump’s “Drain the Swamp” Con Game, Gets Spanked

“I made a big boo-boo”
Politics • Views: 42,797

We saw an extraordinarily revealing moment in the Trump Horror today, following yesterday’s statement by Newt Gingrich that he’d been told by Trump’s people to stop using the phrase “Drain the Swamp.”

When this revelation hit the media, somewhere inside the swollen pumpkin head of our new Narcissist in Chief a light went on and he realized that Newt was giving away the con game, telling the world that Trump never really intended to drain any swamps.

Of course, it was already obvious from his appointments and nominations so far; a panoply of Goldman Sachs and Wall Street executives, billionaires, Washington DC lifers and Republican insiders. This swamp is very much un-drained; in fact it’s swampier than ever and smells like hell.

But actually saying it out loud as Newt did, well, that’s a con man’s cardinal sin. Never let the rubes see the game. So sometime after Gingrich blurted out the truth, he received a spanking from the tiny fists of the talking yam, who then followed it up with one of his usual unhinged tweets:

And this morning, Gingrich sheepishly tweeted a comical retraction, complete with groveling video:

“A big boo-boo!” Newt Gingrich is 73 years old, folks.

What you’re really seeing in this little mini-drama is just how astoundingly cynical and corrupt Donald Trump is. Even an unreconstructed right wing reptile like Newt Gingrich doesn’t yet understand the rules of the con game he’s part of. But he’s catching on fast.

I swear I saw a clip of Trump himself in one of his masturbatory victory rallies saying that he didn’t like the phrase but it “played well” in the campaign. Then didn’t he say essentially now that he’s won “we don’t care anymore”?

But what am I saying… Trump doesn’t remember from one minute to the next what he’s said.

Liars never can remember what they said from one minute to the next.

Bigger problem: So many Americans are feasting on the lies. It is exactly what they want to hear.

Also, I just posted this in the previous thread. Since it fits this thread I’m going to add it here again.

Found some backup on what I had heard earlier.

You think Spicer is bad…how about this.

I’m thinking about stocking up on some barf bags. Hey, maybe I can get those in gold with Trump “Making America Sick Again” lettered on them. Think they would sell?

LA Times - Kellyanne Conway will join Trump in the White House

Donald Trump has named his media-savvy campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, to advise him in the White House in the role of counselor, his transition team announced early Thursday morning.

The move comes after Conway sought to put to rest speculation that she would continue to serve as the public face of the Trump team. But the new job is sure to keep her profile high.

Conway will “will work with senior leadership to effectively message and execute the administration’s legislative priorities and actions,” according to a statement from the Trump transition team.

“Kellyanne Conway has been a trusted advisor and strategist who played a crucial role in my victory,” Trump said in the statement. “She is a tireless and tenacious advocate of my agenda and has amazing insights on how to effectively communicate our message.”

The appointment would boost diversity in a Trump inner circle made up mostly of older white men. It also sets up another potentially competing power center on a White House staff that already will have several, including Reince Priebus, the chief of staff; Stephen K. Bannon, the chief strategist; and Stephen Miller, the policy chief.

Conway had previously turned down other proposals for White House jobs, telling reporters late last month that she did not want to spend long hours away from her children.

At that point, Conway said she thought she could best help Trump by forming an outside organization to support his policies. But that role appears to have gone to Brad Parscale, who ran Trump’s online operations during the campaign.

Conway joined Trump’s campaign during the summer when it was beset with infighting and disarray. She is widely credited with helping bring message discipline and professionalism to an operation in desperate need of it.

It doesn’t even matter. He could say he likes swamps, that he has the best, most beautiful swamps, and DC is no different, and they’d ask where to buy Trump branded fan boats, while proclaiming how much they trust him.

That may be the most reckless and ignorant thing Trump has said yet. His talk about not defending allies has already given other nations incentive to create or revitalize their own nuclear forces. Now he throws gasoline on the fire by stupidly suggesting we scrap the various treaties that largely determine the size, make-up, and deployment of our own nuclear forces.

Context:

Trump thinks that using nukes is okay. He thinks proliferation is a good thing. He doesn’t get that proliferation is tremendously destabilizing, and increases the chances nukes get used - or fall into the wrong hands.

Trump’s grasp of history and reality is seriously flawed.

He has no one who can tell him just how close we came to nuking our own country during the height of the Cold War - including one where we could have nuked Savannah/Charleston being one of the more infamous situations, but there were similar ones over Spain, to say nothing of various issues at nuclear weapons facilities across the country too. And our record of accident pales in comparison to the Soviets/Russians who had some massive accidents and broken arrows of their own - and made sure to hide all of it from their citizens - a situation that continued right up through the Chernobyl accident at a civilian reactor.

Proliferation could make already unstable situations even worse - imagine Saudis and Iranians both with functioning nuclear weapons and regimes that could potentially use it on each other (or worse, giving it to proxies for use) - irradiating large swaths of the Middle East and disrupting energy supplies for billions of people in the process.

My favorite BoB fantasy I’m seeing on twitter is a demand that the DNC and DWS admit that they illegally rigged the primaries in favor of Clinton and that will require a new general election and we’ll get President Bernie instead of DT.

O_o

They’re as delusional as the right. Honestly I’m sick of Bernie whining about the Dems not being working class friendly when he hasn’t even bothered to join the party and ignores the large number of working class people who do support the Dems. He just wants to whine about the WWC leaving the party and doesn’t want to admit their prejudices played a huge role in that departure.

Similar to the birther fantasy that if only Obama was disqualified there would be a new election instead of Joe Biden simply becoming President.

I’ve been doing a bit of Google on the Ivanka Jet Blue thing and I saw an article about it from Yahoo news. Sound like it wasn’t as “assaulting” as first explained. Link to story below with a quote from one guy who was seated in front of Ivanak explaining what happened.

But what really got me…as of now 10, 750 comments to the story.

Real important stories do not get that kind of action.

Here is the quote from the passenger on the flight out the Yahoo News story and a link…

Yahoo News - Man kicked off JetBlue flight for questioning why Ivanka Trump was on it

Here is what happened. He didn’t accost her directly. When he got on and saw her, sitting behind me, he said “oh my god. This is a nightmare” and was visibly shaking. He said “they ruin the country now they ruin our flight!” (Context: Boarding and therefore the flight was delayed because they needed to get on first through some other way.) He did not yell. He was also not what I would describe as calm. Agitated maybe. His husband behind him was very calm. His son is adorable and sharply dressed. When the JetBlue staff went back to speak to the man I overheard Ivanka say to them “I don’t want to make this a thing.” My assessment is that she was happy to let the man take his seat. Security made a different call. And for good reason. The man’s calm husband had tweeted earlier that his husband was “chasing them down to harass them.” I did not witness his actual removal some rows back. If he screamed, I didn’t hear it.

re: #76 makeitstop

The thing about the nuclear weapons is that the Obama administration already began the modernization process because most of the weapons systems were nearing the end of their service life.

That includes not only the warheads, but the delivery systems.

It means that the US has to consider developing new bombers to replace the B2 and B52 (which is still going strong as the backbone of the USAF bomber fleet despite being older than all of its pilots - and some of those pilots’ fathers) with a new B21 concept.

It means a new ballistic missile (the Minuteman III (aka MX) (ground based) and Trident D-2 (sub based).

The Obama Admin estimates the cost at more than $1 trillion over the next 30 years - or more than $40 billion a year on top of an already bloated defense budget that sags under the weight of weapons programs that over budget and underperforming (F-35), the new Zumwalt destroyer program, the littoral combat ship program, etc.

Trump’s idea is to what? Spend even more money?

Force others to spend even more money they don’t have?

There’s no rationale for any of Trump’s statements, but his understanding of nuclear weapons is horrifying (more than the usual background horror show that is Trump) considering that he seems to think that we should be able to use nukes - and that there aren’t some kind of barrier to usage.

Dumbassery on twitter:

Obamacare created monopolies in states so that there’s only one insurance provider.

*facepalm*

This one nitwit points out NC - claiming it has only one provider.

Except it doesn’t have one provider.

It had at least two in 2016. Blue Cross and Aetna. Aetna quit the ACA to goose its profits and in a huff about not being able to merge with another insurer. Cigna will be entering NC in 2017 in a number of counties. In other words, not a monopoly. Just businesses trying to maximize their profits and doing the bare minimum to help insureds (which has been a problem with health insurance since before the ACA even existed).

Remember when Trump said he ‘didn’t need big stars’ for the inauguration?

He was lying again. It’s bothering the crap out of him from the look of it.

President-elect Donald Trump is reportedly “very unhappy” with his team’s inability to secure entertainers for his Jan. 20 inauguration, as A-list stars are rumored to continue turning down requests to perform.

Trump has ordered a “Hail Mary” rearrangement of recruitment efforts to book talent for his inauguration, according to an anonymous source familiar with the situation cited in a report published Wednesday by The Wrap.

The same source told The Wrap that Mark Burnett, the executive producer of “The Apprentice” who is helping plan Trump’s inauguration festivities, enlisted Suzanne Bender, a talent producer on shows including “American Idol” and “America’s Got Talent,” to help get stars onboard.

The demand to salvage the festivities came “directly” from Trump, according to the source.

What’s next? Sending out his kneecappers to threaten stars to work the parties? That may be the only thing that’ll work at this point.

Haha. The dude got elected president and stars still won’t pretend to like him.

Josh Marshall writes about it.

On the one hand, this is the most frivolous and inconsequential of stories. And yet, it captures quite a bit about the coming Trump Era. From one perspective, it’s the ultimate confirmation of the Trumpian narrative. The cultural elite - the top musicians and movie stars - look down on Trump and refuse to associate with him. What’s notable though is that it’s not just Katy Perry and Bruce or other mega stars who we either know or assume we know have predictably liberal politics. Trump appears to be getting shut out even in the Country music world where the cultural politics run considerably more conservative and where Republican politicians usually find their entertainers.

Some of it is simply that Trump isn’t normal. He’s not just another Republican. But it also must be about the extreme age spread in the current political moment. The business of entertainment and especially the business of stardom is overwhelmingly with the young, certainly if we define youth as people under 40 or 45. So there’s likely some mix of rejection and self-protection behind the shut out. But again, even I’m surprised he apparently can’t get anyone to perform.

Heh. a ‘95 to 100%’ freezeout,’ according to a Hollywood friend of his. Good.

The MX Missile was the Peacekeeper, not the Minuteman III. None of the Peacekeepers are in service anymore, and as far as I remember, the payload configuration they had is banned by treaty (too many MIRVs per launcher).

The whole program in hindsight was an enormous waste of money.

Even uber wingnut conservative Gene Simmons and KISS have declined.

I wouldn’t surprised if Paul Stanley objected to it, but, say what you will, Simmons is a much better businessman than Trump, for real. For example, he licensed a full-color muraled KISS coffin, FFS, and it’s extremely popular; pretty much most of the money that Simmons, Stanley, and the other band members, past and present, have earned have been because of Simmons’ hugely successful licensing deals.

Simmons knows that playing for Trump is a (money-)losing proposition and he ain’t into that at all.

I originally caught this show years ago (Can’t remember where?) and was always blown away that such an artist and his band would undertake this piece of music…and in my opinion nail it in his own way.
