400 Companies Have Now Pulled Their Advertising From Breitbart “News”

Major companies are bailing out in droves
Media • Views: 162,436

Many people have now joined the effort to inform major companies about the racist
and misogynist nature of Breitbart “News” and urge them not to advertise at this “alt-right” hate site, and this ad hoc campaign is getting serious results.

The number of companies that have now pulled their ads from Breitbart is at 400. That’s gotta hurt their bottom line (although they’re also being financed by some shady right wing organizations, and possibly by Donald Trump himself).

Here’s the complete list, maintained by @slpng_giants on Twitter: SLEEPING GIANTS CONFIRMED LIST.

Let that sink in. All these years, over 400 companies had to problem supporting this propaganda.

And many will return after the smoke clears.

And some excellent advice for “journalists” from a comment at kos:

Stop treating twitter as a news source and giving Trump a bully pulpit, it is misdirection and meaningless. The devil is in the details of where you aren’t looking. Act like spies instead of paparazzi.

Totally off topic, but I decided to get a 2 day head start on my annual Changing of the Smoke/CO Detector Batteries celebration (normally Jan 1 every year.) So one is fine, the next one doesn’t beep with the new battery. OK, well, who knows how old detector is, so I’ll put this battery in a different one and then think about when I can replace it.
Next one-doesn’t beep. Begin to suspect brand shiny new battery is dead. Gets second battery. No beep. Tries in detector #3. No beep. So, that’s two new (like from a year ago) but dead, batteries. Great. Go back to detector #2 with battery #3 and it works. Proceed from there…
The only thing I know of in this house that uses 9 volt batteries is the smoke detectors and I mark every one with the date of installation, so why do I have 2 dead batteries? Electricity moves in mysterious ways its wonders to perform. But at least I have enough batteries for this time around. (Makes note on calendar to buy 9v batteries next November.)

Because I was on a general battery-changing rampage, I checked the batteries in the thermostat. AA. Oh, the use by date is 2010. Perhaps new ones might, possibly, be in order? They did manage to maintain the program early this month when the power was out for a couple hours, but they appear to be deader than the proverbial door nails, so it may have been the power of faith alone that did it.

So now I need to run down to my brother’s house to pick up his mail (he and his wife are away for a few days.) Then I need to make salad dressing, get some bread going and by then it will probably be time to start in with the French onion soup for tonight. The fun just never stops, does it?

Actually I don’t really mind any of it, I’m just in a bit of a pissy mood for whatever reason. I should probably stay away from the internet for a while. In any event, a little walk down to my brother’s house will do me good.

OFFS. They do know that when Obama found out about it, he brought it up to McConnell and McConnell was going to claim it was partisan politics and so would have FNC. Really FNC, your justification is “Well Obama would have been okay with it if it benefitted Clinton” even though you have zero proof of that at all. Meanwhile your party of choice actually has benefited from shit like this before. Lest we forget Nixon’s 1968 shadiness.

Conservatives have a habit of projecting what they’d do on the left and groups they don’t like. It beyond infuriates me that Comey thought the Clinton stuff serious enough to release during the election but didn’t think the Trump-Russia stuff was. You don’t have to like Clinton to think that was crappy.

Now imagine if he didn’t. Imagine if, days after an election in which Hillary won the EC but lost the popular vote by millions of votes, it came out that Russia had been responsible for hacks on both parties, as well as other organs of our electoral system. And when pressured for answers as to how he’d respond, the President shrugged his shoulders and said America needed to “move on” from the election and on to “bigger and better things.”

The GOP would be in open revolt and promising to bring Putin to his knees right now.

OT: My christian conservative sister didn’t come to our sibling holiday get-together on Wednesday evening. I sent her an email yesterday to ask her what’s up. She wrote back that she was having car trouble and then WENT ON A TEAR ABOUT HOW GREAT LIFE IS NOW THAT SHE’S SURRENDERED TO JESUS and how me and my youngest sister should follow her example and be SAVED BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!!

Given that my little sister believes in God and Jesus, she was kind of pissed when I copied her the email. I asked my crazy sister about this and she said that my little sister’s Facebook page proved that she needed saving. Apparently being an outspoken liberal will send you to hell.

We’ve pretty much had it with the judgmental christianist sister.

I mean we’re to believe that the Republicans would just shrug their shoulders and say “Well they beat us” if there was anything even close to indicating foreign involvement in beating their candidates? The Republican Party IMO has long been a fucked up party but Trump has made an already terrible party even worse.

Trump and Bannon have both said they’d like to tear the U.S. and society in general down to its foundations — Trump so he can profit off the rubble, Bannon so he can have the Fourth Reich he dreams of. Putin is, I’m sure, more than happy to help them get to their goals.

A search on LGF shows that Vicious Babushka knows, because she gave a passing RIP back in July, when Marni Nixon died. But I didn’t know until hearing an NPR obit that Marni’s passing was yet another reason 2016 truly sucked, especially for music people.

Marni Nixon was the voice of many stars whose pipes simply weren’t up to the parts they played. How many of us who first saw West Side Story, My Fair Lady, and The King and I in the movies knew that Natalie Wood, Audrey Hepburn, and Deborah Kerr didn’t sing their respective starring roles in those megahits, Marni Nixon did. Along with many others we think some other star sang.

Of course it was all nondisclosure and no screen credit, but it was really an open secret in Hollywood. And of course, Hollywood being what it is, Marni got screwed over. For instance, The King and I made millions at the box office, and the soundtrack sold hundreds of thousands in vinyl albums. Marni’s total payment for the gig? $420.

RIP again for an angel voice, another loss of this crappy year.
