SYNOPSIS
Filip lives in a poor neighbourhood. He dreams of writer’s glory and luxurious lifestyle in a more prosperous part of town. One day Filip gets a knock on the door. His neighbour Tereza, an older prostitute that Filip tries to avoid by all means, asks him to write a letter for her fiancé. Filip agrees. And it would all end up fine if a week later Tereza would not show up at his doorstep again, asking him to write an answer to the previous letter.

Yeah, let’s let that sink in: When considering matters of national security, the Chief Strategist will have equal say to Secretary of Defense, while the Director of National Intelligence and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff will only be granted chairs when the subject under discussion concerns them.

The divide is strictly ideological. It wouldn’t be that hard to unravel it all, and Bannon already had a head start with Breitbart poisoning the minds of the entire GOP rank-and-file.

When you look at the swiftness and broadness of the “Muslim ban”, combined with Bannon being installed to the NSC and made more important and influential than the fucking Director of National Intelligence and the CJCS, you see that the pump is being primed exactly for the scenario you describe. Because, then, under pretense of “national security” as a “wartime President”, Trump (or, rather, Bannon, who’s coming to be the real power behind the throne, even more so than Kushner) can basically suppress the types of large-scale protests we’ve seen since he took office and head off any other means of dissension or opposition (see the re-election filing on Inauguration Day that basically just kneecapped any opposition from any non-profit orgs, such as Democratic PACs, PP, and others opposed to Trump and the GOP, for the next four years under pain of losing their IRS non-profit status for “electioneering”).

Trump, Bannon, and Co. are moving with a quickness to consolidate power; goddamn, this is so fucking bad.

It’s tough watching a republic die. Even worse when the ensuing rebellion against such totalitarianism acts will result in outright anarchy and a total disintegration of order.

And when Bannon orders the execution of protestors, he’ll create political martyrs that will be used against him.

This is the collapse of Romania all over again.

You will have to have some faith. This isn’t the first time there have been clashes between protesters and the government, and the government trying to impose itself.

I wish things weren’t having to change. I would much rather be just concentrating on learning how to write a programming language and how to do hardware and software for Raspberry Pi. But our routines are having to change, and its uncomfortable and scary, and it feels like the end of everything. But it doesn’t have to be for the country. It just means that the path we wanted to take through life is changed or temporarily veered off track.

Bannon may be angling to sideline the military entirely by forcing them to refuse illegal orders. He can then have an excuse to raise a “Trump Guard” of vigilantes and militia nuts to deal with large scale protests. When I saw the drunkards of the “Bikers for Trump” declaring that they were in DC to “protect the inauguration” I was reminded of Putin’s use of motorcycle gangs in Ukraine and Crimea. Given Bannon’s RWNJ cedentials, the administration might intend to eventually rely on irregular forces to enforce their power. Erik Prince, who knows more about extra-governmental forces than anyone else, is only a phone call away and his nutcake sister is already in the Cabinet.

Friday night, DHS arrived at the legal interpretation that the executive order restrictions applying to seven countries — Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Sudan and Yemen — did not apply to people who with lawful permanent residence, generally referred to as green card holders.

The White House overruled that guidance overnight, according to officials familiar with the rollout. That order came from the President’s inner circle, led by Stephen Miller and Steve Bannon.

More like the disintegration of Yugoslavia. There will end up being 3 to 6 balkanized states that will be fighting each other for decades. Putin will laugh all the way till the Chinese squish him leaving the EU and Chinese Empire as the two long-term powers.

Precisely the scenario I have been fearing. The US collapses and breaks into pieces. Putin succeeds where Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin, Khrushchev, and Brezhnev failed. Finally, Russia successfully destabilizes us.

True, but in this case, there would at least be the pretext of “upholding and defending the Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic”.

That being said, it’s utterly horrifying to contemplate - not only from the constitutional aspect but from the absolute F5 shitnado it would unleash.

Since the GOP is in their suicide pact and will refuse to invoke Amendment 25, there would be an additional pretext due to their outright dereliction of duty on the matter.

In fact, EVERY single measure meant as a stopgap — from primaries, to the general election, to the electoral college — wound up failing us bigly.

re: #62 Shiplord Kirel

Imagine the irony if the militias come to our rescue from a trump coup d’etat.

I’m wondering how the military would react.

The military could well be acting under a court order in that scenario. I see the worst case, civil war, as essentially based on conflict between the judiciary and the constitutional military on one side, with the lawless executive branch on the other. The latter would be supported by some (but not all) law enforcement agencies and a veritable menagerie of irregular, mercenary, and militia forces.
For example; if, say Franklin Graham issued a call for volunteers to man roadblocks to look for Muslims the godless courts had let into the country, the response would be enormous.

The Republican Party is the enemy of the state. No other way around it.

If such a crackdown happens like this Muslim Ban fiasco was rolled out, they will lose total control in a hurry.

That’s true. But recall the Erwin Rommel had that with Hitler. But when push come to shove, he chose the side of righteousness in the July 20th Plot. It is reported that he said, “Gentlemen, I believe it is my duty to come to the rescue of Germany.”

I’d read that Rommel had cast in his lot with the July 20th plotters - the reason he was allowed to commit suicide was because he was considered a national hero and the scandal would’ve been badly damaging to German morale at the time.

To me, it’s hard to say; I’ve read conflicting accounts - and it’s even harder to ascertain the truth because of course the July 20th plotters were all killed under Hitler’s orders and there’s very limited documentation from the plotters themselves as to their plans and preparations.

I’ll admit he’s a pretty thin reed but institutionally the military will not support a rogue executive, since such a regime is a threat to its institutional existence. This is especially so with Trump-Bannon since the latter are closely affiliated with foreign powers who would like nothing better than to see US military power destroyed completely. Pro-Trump sentiment within the military would manifest itself in individual desertions to the Trump forces, possibly a lot of them. You know what makes me mad — that Trump lays waste to the US is a logical consequence of the elections. Enough Americans had to vote for him in order for him to be able to take advantage of an antiquated dysfunctional electoral system. Fair enough.

But the French, the Germans, the Italians, the Belgians, etc. didn’t vote of him, and yet he’s crapping all over our countries, destabilizing our world.

As French presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron said yesterday:

What’s happening today with Trump’s first statements and choices is extremely serious and worrying. It’s firstly a choice that it will be an America that provokes … an America that destabilizes things that have been built for decades. It signifies that the US will no longer be in a position to co-organize globalization and be the world’s policeman with the European Union. The unpredictable choices, the outbursts and the inward-looking United States of Trump no longer guarantees Europe’s security.

This ids not going to end well.

Whether it’s actively omitting references to Jews and the anti-Semitism that spurred the Holocaust and murder of 6 million (yes, there is proof of this Rage fuckin’ Furby) or it’s enacting a Muslim ban (and when the intent and purpose is to ban Muslims, it’s unconstitutional in fact and as applied) but then not giving time or guidance to enforce it properly or consistently, it’s all designed to undermine the federal government’s job and authority.

This reeks of Bannon, whose ultimate goal is to see the federal government collapse. Trump is his means to that end. Trump’s giving Bannon free reign to do as he likes.

And the GOP does nothing because they’re continuing to think that Trump is giving them what they want - power.

Actually, it wasn’t that they upped rates. They overrode the function that increases rates during high request periods.

Still think Clinton was worse than Trump. Ask yourself if Clinton would ever have issued a clearly unconstitutional EO whose intent and purpose was to ban Muslims from entering the US.

Or that Clinton would gut the NSC by inserting a white supremacist/neo Nazi into the national security process - Bannon.

Or.. oh just fuckit - there’s no comparison between the two.

It wasn’t just policy or temperament. It was the whole package. She was competent and understood policy. Trump’s just taking a blowtorch and pliers to government and watching it all burn. He’s an arsonist enabling other arsonists, and no one in the US ultimately benefits; but neo Nazis, white supremacists, and Russia does.

So far, I agree with the first sentence, but the second doesn’t flow from the first. In fact, it’s all the more reason to worry - that these unprepared, incompetent, and downright unqualified picks are going to push destructive policies at the behest of an administration whose intent is to gut the federal government.

Precisely. Trump will do what Bannon, et al, advise him on. He doesn’t seem to have much of an independent mind - not to mention he seems to have a noticeable lack of intellectual curiosity.

The collapse will come sooner than we think; it will be swift, and it will be sudden. And Bannon et. al will be removed either peacefully or otherwise.

That’s the one thing I don’t get about Bannon. We all know that he fashions himself as a Leninist, but he is trying to force the self-destruction of the federal government while already in power. Lenin and his acolytes deposed of the tsars almost entirely from the outside.

The inevitable purge of anyone tied to Trump from such a collapse — or hostile takeover by the military — means that Bannon is a target for removal if he doesn’t do so earlier.

The people who have the most intimate knowledge of existing policy were excluded. The people who want to push an Islamophobia plan the sole intent of which was to impose a Muslim ban were heard from.

So, as in the closing line of this excerpt, I too am thinking this is going to come a head really quick.

This is from a blog I just came across, so take it for what it’s worth.

This is widely reported by the media (CNN, The Guardian, New York Times), but perhaps because of the late hour and lack of legal analysts on hand, they missed the significance of the next paragraph:

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that to assure compliance with the Court’s order, the Court directs service of this Order upon the United States Marshal for the Eastern District of New York, and further directs the United States Marshal Service to take those actions deemed necessary to enforce the provisions and prohibitions set forth in this Order.

I’ve never seen an order like that directed against the U.S. government in my life. What the judge just did is sent federal law enforcement affiliated with the court to JFK airport to make sure other federal law enforcement obey the order. In other words, Judge Donnelly does not trust that the Trump administration will follow the law and pre-emptively sent muscle to carry out her order.

If you’re to believe the Daily Kos, a source that I don’t necessarily consider reliable due to political bias on par with Fox News, but in the other direction, the U.S. Marshals were sent with good reason: they report that in other airports, U.S. Customs & Border patrol has ignored the order.

If Trump chooses to direct his agencies to ignore court orders, this could be a very rapid beginning and end to his administration, as I cannot imagine Congress not impeaching a president who does so. This situation may come to a head quite soon… stay tuned…

Another reason this EO is unconstitutional:

President Trump signed an executive order on Friday that purports to bar for at least 90 days almost all permanent immigration from seven majority-Muslim countries, including Syria and Iraq, and asserts the power to extend the ban indefinitely.

But the order is illegal. More than 50 years ago, Congress outlawed such discrimination against immigrants based on national origin.

The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 banned all discrimination against immigrants on the basis of national origin, replacing the old prejudicial system and giving each country an equal shot at the quotas. In signing the new law, President Lyndon B. Johnson said that “the harsh injustice” of the national-origins quota system had been “abolished.”

Part of the reaction in the UK to the ban includes growing opposition to Trump’s upcoming state visit there. Labour Party leader has issued a statement opposing it, but so has the leader of the Scottish Conservatives, Ruth Davidson:

State visits are designed for both the host, and the head of state who is being hosted, to celebrate and entrench the friendships and shared values between their respective countries.

A state visit from the current President of the United States could not possibly occur in the best traditions of the enterprise while a cruel and divisive policy which discriminates against citizens of the host nation is in place.

I hope President Trump immediately reconsiders his Muslim ban.

There’s also a petition against the state visit here. (Only UK residents are allowed to sign.) It’s currently at nearly 330k signatures.

Later on in his service, Khalas was riding in convoy behind a Humvee that was hit by an I.E.D. Grenades began sailing in from a nearby village. “There was no place to protect ourselves,” Khalas said, “but we had to take our friends who have died out of the Humvee.” He ran through the field of fire to help pry the bodies of three Americans from the wreckage.

He was shot once, but the bullet lodged between his Kevlar vest and torso and left only a small scar, so he didn’t think much of it.

“I’m establishing new vetting measures to keep radical Islamic terrorists out of the United States,” Trump declared. “We don’t want them here,” he said. “We only want to admit those into our country who will support our country, and love deeply our people.”

Maack texted me. “Do you have a copy of the final text yet?” Khalas and Nada were desperate for guidance.

When he opened the folder containing the executive order, the President squinted at it, and read haltingly, as though it were the first time he’d seen it: “This is … ‘Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States.’ “

“We all know what that means,” he murmured, before carefully rereading the title. As he signed it, he congratulated himself. “That’s big stuff!”

There’s rumors that there will be an expanded round of countries listed with the Muslim ban. That might include those with which Trump has business dealings.

But the reality is that Trump’s EO is unconstitutional in fact and as applied. He is actively violating the constitution. It’s up to the nation, our elected leaders, and courts to stop this.

That takes time, and it also means that Trump’s policies will continue to filter in both on the immigration front and elsewhere.

Ah, the power of the egg.

To gain knowledge over immigration law and pontificate all with the power of talking points.

There’s a reason that lawyers specialize. Immigration lawyers have to be familiar with the specifics of immigration law just as tax lawyers have to know the IRC.

But eggs? They have stayed in a Holiday Inn Express and have knowledge about all this in one shot.

Which makes it all the more hilarious when they start repeating immigration law references that are out of date or are inapplicable, and ignore constitutional law at the same time.

Point to the 1952 Act without identifying that later acts specifically undid the very provisions invoked as support Trump’s got authority.

That’s like invoking Jim Crow as proof that segregation is lawful in 2017 (and the genesis of both kinds of law are from the same racist/bigoted part of our nation’s history).

Meanwhile, in the UK:

Boris Johnson says it is “divisive and wrong to stigmatise” people on the basis of nationality, amid a furore over a US clampdown on immigration.

President Donald Trump has barred entry for 90 days to refugees and nationals of seven mainly Muslim countries.

Protests have broken out at US airports and PM Theresa May has been criticised for not responding firmly enough when she was asked about it on Saturday.

No 10 has since said she does not agree with the policy.

Meanwhile, a petition to stop a state visit to the UK by President Trump later this year may be debated in Parliament, after amassing more than 300,000 signatures.

Foreign Secretary Mr Johnson became the latest politician to speak out against Mr Trump’s executive order halting the entire US refugee programme and instituting a 90-day travel ban for nationals from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

He wrote on Twitter: “We will protect the rights and freedoms of UK nationals home and abroad. Divisive and wrong to stigmatise because of nationality.”

STEWART: MCAULIFFE WOULD RATHER SEE A TERRORIST ATTACK IN VIRGINIA THAN OFFEND LIBERALS

Today Virginia Republican Gubernatorial candidate Corey Stewart said the “Trump Administration executive order on refugees is reasonable and necessary” and that McAuliffe and Northam are putting political correctness before Virginians’ safety.

“It is a temporary inconvenience to fewer than 200 people a day. It is what is minimally required to prevent terrorists, disguised as refugees, from entering the country,” said Stewart. “McAuliffe and Northam are once again putting political correctness—and their own political ambition—ahead of the safety and security of Virginians. They are deliberately dividing Virginians by falsely alleging that the executive order was motivated by bigotry.”

Stewart continued, “McAuliffe and Northam would rather see a terrorist attack in Virginia than offend liberals. We must take Virginia back from McAuliffe’s crooked liberal gang.”

Miller also noted on Saturday that Trump administration officials are discussing the possibility of asking foreign visitors to disclose all websites and social media sites they visit, and to share the contacts in their cell phones. If the foreign visitor declines to share such information, he or she could be denied entry.

Let’s not forget that Border Control already has the ability to seize all electronics from people entering the US, whether they are US citizens or not. If you don’t turn on your computer/phone when they ask you to, they can confiscate it (with the expectation you will get it back in a couple of months).

Folks like myself were saying aloud how quickly shit can go sideways when a democracy dissolves into a dictatorship, and the response was that that was hyperbole and hysteria, that people wouldn’t go for such and would fight back. That America is too robust a democracy to ever let such things happen.

Well, fighting back does take time. It doesn’t happen overnight.

Sure we would all like to go to sleep tonight and wake tomorrow and it will all be gone, but you know it doesn’t happen that way.

This is going to take a lot of effort to get enough people that see themselves as conservatives to go against what many voted for. It is going to take all the people that never vote to get angry and motivated enough to join the process.

The Republicans in Congress are going to have to understand that if they want to hold onto their positions and actually start to do what the people want they are going to need to get to work.

And they are going to need pressure from the money people that back them. The only way that may happen is those money people need to see some of their money taken away from people that refuse to buy and use their services, etc.

And the Democrats are going to need to find their backbones too and motivate their backers like maybe they’ve never been before…or at least in many a year.

But after a flight from Beirut to Doha, Qatar, and then to Philadelphia on Saturday, the two families were told to get on a flight back to Doha. It’s more than ideology driving them - they’re also in it for personal power, in fact, that may be the main motivating factor for many/most. Given that (arguable) premise, I can see the ideology melt away in favor of self-survival.

Agreed. It will be interesting to see the point - if ever - they act. Because this is not something Dems can do, the GOP is in the majority.

Additionally, those in power…their base is trump’s base. So their acting is also putting them in compromising positions. They are in that no-win zone.

Seems like the yam team had time to get their Sunday show talking points all lined up—Rancid and Kellyanne, it appears, were beating the same “325,000 people come in, only a few detained” drum. (I only know from reading about it, because I can’t stand looking at or listening to any of them firsthand.)

Yeah, it’s funny how that talking point comes out from the White House at the same time that it does DHS. It’s almost as though they rehearsed it together…

Outside my office in the legal department is the framed 1971 cable from the United States attorney general asking The New York Times to stop publishing the Pentagon Papers. The New York Times stood up to the government then and won a landmark decision for press freedom before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Today we’re still standing up to the powerful. It’s one of the things that make me proud to be a lawyer for The Times. Over the past eight years, I have filed 27 suits against the federal government seeking access to secret records. Our legal team helps our journalists every day to access information that others don’t want you to see.

The story by Eric Lipton and Robert Faturechi is an example of how journalism can take on the country’s most powerful institutions and hold them accountable.

Straight out of the Nazis’ playbook. They can’t rely on the military to attack American citizens, so they’ll use local police forces, which have been stocked full of psychotics and racists.

And if they’re dealing with a blue city with marginally less awful cops, they’ll just import cops from red states.

Which will become problematic when the blue city LEOs turn on and go after those imports. You and I know Gov. Jerry Brown and Gavin Newsome won’t stand for it and are very likely to take a defiant Churchillian stand.

I have to find myself agreeing, this is a prime opportunity to show that the DNC does motivate people and does care about the oppressed…and they’re allowing it to go by. I’d like to think that’s because they have some plan in place to spring tomorrow, but I figure it’s more likely that the party is so disorganized that nobody wants to speak up for fear of making themselves a target. Mr. Owens, the Mossack Fonseca lawyer, again offered a solution.

Mossack Fonseca would locate what he called a “natural person nominee” in a “tax-convenient” jurisdiction to stand in for Ms. Olszewski as the owner of the account.

“The Natural Person Trustee is a service which is very sensitive,” Mr. Owens wrote. “We need to hire the Natural Person Nominee, pay him, make him sign lots of documents to cover us, make him sign resignations, make him get some proofs evidencing that he has the economic capacity to place such amount of moneys, letters of reference, proof of domicile, etc., etc.” The process, he suggested, would cost her at least $17,500.

This was a proposal for national security claiming to “extreme vet” those coming to the US. The EO wasn’t run past any of the adults in the room - not DOJ. Not DoD. Not NSA. Not CIA. Not anyone outside Bannon and the cabal of cronies Trump assembled.

The people who have the most intimate knowledge of existing policy were excluded. The people who want to push an Islamophobia plan the sole intent of which was to impose a Muslim ban were heard from.

They admit as much. It is a Muslim ban that is on its face unconstitutional. Anyone who defends it is lying.

And now we see exactly why Trump surrounds himself with his family and closest advisors 24/7. He trusts no one outside of this small cabal. Combine this with appointing Cabinet Secretaries that are incompetent to run their departments and you can envision how orders can be quickly delegated from the Trump cabal downwards to enact policy.

Time to quit fucking around, US judicial system.

The US Customs and Border Protection Agency at Dulles International Airport has refused to grant attorneys access to any detainees it may be holding, according to Sharifa Abassi, who is coordinating the volunteer lawyer efforts underway there. Yesterday, a federal judge for the Eastern District of Virginia ordered respondents, who include CBP, President Trump, and the CBP Port Director for Dulles Wayne Biondi, to “permit lawyers access to all legal permanent residents being detained at Dulles International Airport.”

Abassi says late Sunday morning a border agent told lawyers that agents have been instructed not to speak with them. About 15 lawyers have been directed to call Steve Sapp, an official with the CBP Office of Public Affairs, but have so far have not had their calls answered or returned. Washingtonian called the number, which directed reporters to a cellphone number whose voicemail was full.

Abbasi and one other lawyer we spoke to say officials at Dulles have refused to engage with the lawyers since this morning. A border agent who agreed to bring the lawyers’ request for access to detainees, as well as a copy of the order, to her supervisor came back with this message: “It’s not going to happen.”

Lawyers at Dulles are currently considering motions to hold the government in contempt and to compel disclosure of any individuals who are being detained.

On the one hand, if they remove Trump now, yes, the base will be livid. However, that still leaves plenty of time between now and the mid-terms next November - and voters in general tend to have short memories. It’s a calculated risk that if Trump is impeached and removed within the next 90 days, it’ll have blown over with the base by 11/2018. But it could work - politics is, after all, the art of the impossible.

We have to remember that impeachment requires a criminal act. As of this very moment, we’ve got a suspicion but no concrete evidence that the White House (read: Bannon) has ordered CBP to defy a federal court order. Until we have that, then they could conceivably offer the defense in court that this was a decision made further down the chain of command and whoever made it was doing so of his own volition.

AYFKM? These are 21st-Century Republican Congresscritters. The sort who can quite easily equate “the greater good” with their “own political fortunes” - every day and twice on Sunday.

But “pissing off Trump’s base” is key: just for myself, I think that that “base” is a LOT smaller than the Trumpistas imagine - and that many (?most?) “mainstream” GOPers have a better handle on what their constituents will or won’t put up with.

Trump’s such a blowhard that he’d likely implicate himself. “Yeah, of course I told ‘em not to obey some court order….I’m the President, goddammit, they do what I tell ‘em to do!!”

re: #400 Dr Lizardo

On the one hand, if they remove Trump now, yes, the base will be livid. However, that still leaves plenty of time between now and the mid-terms next November - and voters in general tend to have short memories. It’s a calculated risk that if Trump is impeached and removed within the next 90 days, it’ll have blown over with the base by 11/2018. But it could work - politics is, after all, the art of the impossible.

We’re trying to apply logic with illogical people. Who in the hell knows how Branch Trumpidians would react to the 25th amendment being invoked.

I’d like to think that’s because they have some plan in place to spring tomorrow, but I figure it’s more likely that the party is so disorganized that nobody wants to speak up for fear of making themselves a target. So we get the proforma “we oppose this action” statements and not much else.

The DNC is worthless. I put the blame on DWS, but it wasn’t just her. The whole organization is dead. It’s as though they don’t give a damn about anything other than just being.

As long as congress continues to cower, Trump and men with guns will do what they want to do.

But in this world, the GOP leadership (ha) are not able to remove their problem children without Dem cooperation in the House and Senate. Pence on a platter could be the price of that.

Any deal made to impeach and remove Trump between the GOP and the DNC would no doubt include some sort of leash being put on Pence. It may be for show, it may even be an illusion, but the DNC leadership would insist that Pence be kept in line by his party to avoid a repeat.

Trump tried that once. It failed. His casinos were a publicly traded business.

Every other Trump business was a privately owned business. Passthrough entities. LLCs. Partnerships. Never having to answer to shareholders or a board, not when he was the board and controlled things.

His USFL team was privately owned; but he fucked that one so badly it brought down the whole league.

The removal stage of tossing his ass out of office is effectively run as a trial and observes much of the decorum of a criminal trial. As such, we have to bear in mind that just saying “We think he’s an asshole so he’s guilty” is not a valid prosecutorial tool. Without some evidence of willful action on Trump’s part, he could conceivably toss the whole mess on an underling and skate. And in such a scenario, the DNC would be where the GOP was in ‘98.

Yes and no. Impeachment is a trial, but the rules are left to the Senate. As is the standard for guilt. In other words, it is as much a political act as it is a judicial one. There’s a reason why the Clinton impeachment got 50 votes on one and 45 on the other charge. Senators could very easily decide “fuck him, I’m voting guilty.” You think Graham, Rubio, Cruz, and McCain wouldn’t enjoy the opportunity to stick it to Trump?

For every person who said ‘Trump is a businessman’ as if it’s a good thing, this is what you get. An executive who thinks he’s CEO and can just make new rules on the fly.

But even a businessman who operates as CEO in a large public company knows there are rules, charters, a Board, that he works for.

And Trump has never worked in a public corporation so he does not understand the rules, charters or the responsibility of a Board of Directors. He only understands how to run a business from the inner workings of a small cabal.

At this point, I’m not sure the Rage Furby has enough self-control to masquerade as anyone. If Chuckles were running that account, it’d already be ranting about blacks, Jews, and women, would be linking to his website, and would probably have one post that just said “I HAVE NO IDEA WHO THIS CHUCK C. Chuckles don’t really do subtle anymore.

I’ve been treating that account very skeptically, but so far from the posts I haven’t been able to see what agenda it could be pushing that would be positive for Bannon or Trump. If it is a fake account (again, certainly possible) it’s playing a long game.

If Trump is removed, Pence becomes president. My guess is that Ryan and McConnell would prefer to work with him. He’s more predictable and better fits the mold of “traditional Republican politician.”

The issue they are more likely to consider is whether pissing off Trump’s base will cost them in 2018 and 2020. But at some point, the greater good must outweigh your own political fortunes, right?

You know you’re talking about Republicans, right?

We’ve been paying to keep Red States afloat for years. If Trump tries to cut us off from our own money, this seems only fair.

Hashtag not all red states. Mine pays its own way. We get exactly back what we pay in.

And you don’t think in response that Trump’s merry band of fascists couldn’t find one Navy commander to launch a bevy of cruise missiles into Los Angeles and San Francisco in response? Just one? After California is declared a “domestic enemy” that guy gets constitutional cover. He’d be a bloody hero to a whole bunch of wingnuts.

One naval vessel today has more firepower than the entire US Navy in the Civil War. How many ships does California have? What air force can California wield against the US Navy?

Oh right, none.

That world’s sixth largest economy is nice. Would be a shame if California lost it. I’m sure there aren’t any reactionary wingnuts that would cheer liberal California being destroyed. Look at pictures of Aleppo and come back with us if you really think that’s what you want.

As was famously noted in the Revolution: We must all hang together, or we will surely hang separately. That includes red states, that includes blue states. The nihilists in charge would love to take a go at California, at that I have no doubt.

And, IIRC, these elected officials were getting earfuls of REPEAL OBAMACARE? I NEED THAT! I THOUGHT TRUMP WAS JUST TRASH TALKING! from their constitutes where many ran from their own voters rather than listen. While they may not have listened, they had to have heard. Which makes it a shade more possible to remove him for the greater good of their own reelections.

Of course, as I remain a cynic, a reread of the statement also seems like it could thread the needle. Just say that it applies only to those who have been stopped overseas, not those already here, and allow those in detention now to be released. Argue that the court order has been fulfilled, the detainees in custody released, and any who try to travel afterward will not be considered covered under the existing court order.

I disagree. I think they live in the mindset that the government is supposed to function (see how Obama was throughout his presidency). Dems cooperated with Bush. I do not think Dems would cooperate overwhelmingly with this shit but at the same time they do not want to burn down the country.

Honestly, I do not know what is right and wrong for them to do right now, but making this even look peripherally like a democratic witchhunt is not what is needed. Because if that happens we all lose every opportunity to get rid of trump.

It’s to detabalise the idea that we can trust any information. If we devour this feed, and share information with it, or use it in anyway - and find out it’s someone in the administration - that breaks all trust with any information. How can we trust people organising protests etc.

Remember that Bannon’s goals are similar to Ryan’s. They both want to starve (grannies and babies), stop abortion, roll back SSI, SocSec, Medicare and do away with Medicaid, and all the other things Ryan wanted since…forever. If Trump does it he gets the blame, per se, but the end result is the same.

Once all that is done, THEN Ryan might do something. But not until. And congress, now held by the GOP, will not do anything to return these programs if they ever decide to dump trump.

Goal achieved.

My guess is when all those goals are achieved, President Bannon would have Rep. Ryan arrested. Ryan will have outlived his usefulness, and Bannon is an opponent of Ryan.
