After Outcry, Trump Administration Restores Judicial Branch Link to White House Site

Politics • Views: 56,225

Our article about the missing Judicial Branch link on the White House website triggered a rather large outcry on social media, with nearly 15,000 shares so far to Twitter and Facebook. My original tweet about it was retweeted thousands of times.

The idea that the Trump administration was trying to unilaterally erase the judicial branch seemed to strike a chord with a lot of people, for some odd reason — perhaps because Trump is acting like he’s beyond accountability in so many ways.

And someone in the Trump administration clearly noticed the outcry, because this morning that link has been restored. It’s been missing since January 20th, shortly after Trump’s inauguration concluded.

I’m seeing a lot of comments from people who are just learning about the story for the first time, calling my article “fake news” because the link is present on the White House site now. But it wasn’t fake news, or a rumor; that link was absolutely missing for more than a week. You can confirm this for yourself by checking the Internet Archive, which maintains HTML snapshots of web pages as they change.

Since screenshots can be faked, here’s proof for those who need it. (All times are GMT.)

Here’s the archived version at 5:00 pm on January 20th; the link is present in the “Our Government” section.

Here’s the archived version at 5:01 pm on January 20th; the link is gone. So it was removed between 5:00 pm and 5:01 pm, on Inauguration Day.

Here’s the archived version of the page as it existed last night shortly before midnight. The Judicial Branch link is not there.

Here’s the archived version at 3:56 pm today. Still not there.

And finally, here’s the archived version at 4:05 pm today — the link has been restored. So it was restored between 3:56 pm and 4:05 pm.

Why was this link (and the page it was linked to) removed on January 20th? The only way we’ll ever know is if the Trump gang makes a statement about it — and even then we won’t know for sure, because all of those people are shameless liars.

At this point it seems safe to say that if someone’s telling you to be quiet, that you aren’t talking about the things that matter, or that you are paying too much attention to something; do it more and do it louder.

Judicial Branch link:
whitehouse.gov

A quick scan of the page seems to accurately portray the role of the Judicial Branch and its establishment in Article III of the Constitution.

Amazing. Neither of my Senators (Ben Sasse, Deb Fischer) are on that list. Are they Republicans who want to keep Medicare and Social Security? (We do have a lot of elderly farmers, ranchers, and military veterans - that might be it).

Diplomats from the USA in foreign postings draft a “dissent memo” against the Muslim ban.
huffingtonpost.com?

More at Huffington Post. Ten days in and the administration is in a tailspin. They cannot control what is happening outside their little fascist bubble.

I thought that their were too many amateurs in the administration to control what was going on.

Okay GOP Congress. Our own are telling you this is counterproductive. Still wanna stay in that suicide pact with Trump or are Amendment XXV or Impeachment starting to look like the only way to save your party?

Well, let’s look at the rumor from Rogue POTUS again. Again, YMMV on if it’s legit.

It’s plausible. Peter King is connected with Rudy and Trump. Rudy said unironically that this EO by Trump was indeed a Muslim ban. King’s also heavily xenophobic and a flaming everything else.

I think any GOP legistor with any semblance of self-awareness at this shitshow is too afraid to act, thus, they fall into mental paralysis. Not a surprise. Plus, they’d have to turn on one of their own, as King will own the EO (and do so proudly, he’s that disconnected from reality).

Even if the GOP were to rise up and force Trump out, their nutjob whackadoo base will turn on them in MAGAguard fashion.

If they don’t, the populace will force their hand as these protests and demonstrations increase in size and volume. Then the plutocrats (Koch, etc.) start pulling their money from the party. Companies get empowered to defy Trump’s bullying and speak out against him vociferously.

The GOP has entered the whirlpool vortex regardless if they resort to mutiny or going down with the ship. Either way, it’s a lose-lose.

EDIT: Wrong Fucking RWNJ with the last name King. JFC.

Spicer continuing to step in regarding DT’s Holocaust statement. Good grief. He claims DT “went out of his way to recognize the Holocaust…”

Beginning to wonder if Spicer isn’t looking for work by Feb 1.

But remember that the GOP keeps claiming that they’re better for Jews and Israel than Clinton, Obama, and Democrats generally.

Trump couldn’t even manage to get a Holocaust Remembrance Day press release factually accurate by identifying who was murdered in the Holocaust (Jews) and why (anti Semitism). The Holocaust was just one part of the larger genocide and democide carried out by the Nazis and by arguing otherwise, Trump’s actually engaging in Holocaust denial himself.

Kaine added, “President Obama, President Bush always talk about the Holocaust in connection with the slaughter of Jews. The final solution was about the slaughter of Jews. We have to remember this. This is what Holocaust denial is,” talking about the fringe movement that refuses to acknowledge that Nazi Germany under Adolf Hitler deliberately murdered 6 million Jews.

“The fact that they did that,” Kaine said of the Trump adminstration, “and imposed this religious test against Muslims in the executive orders on the same day, this is not a coincidence.”

Deb Fischer no. Ben Sasse is on the Banking Committee (subcommittee of Economic Policy) and Joint Economic Committee (which might all have something to do with Social Security since it plays a large part in the economy but I’m guessing those committees don’t get a say).

I guess they get a say if the nomination proceeds to the full Senate.

I think the relevant section is:
